Rooter-Man Plumbing Austin TX Plumber
April 2022Second call placed for other drains. I would create a new review but Google only lets me edit this one.Same amazing service. We had Allen out again, he worked diligently to clean my wife's shower pipe and sink pipe, fixed the detached stopper, and cleaned our kitchen sink pipe in the add-on building.Obviously it was more expensive, but like the last service, this was well worth it on pipes that probably haven't been serviced since they were installed decades ago. There is a reason why Rooter-Man is highly rated, they DO THE JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Highly recommend, still 5 stars.July 2021Allen came out exactly on time. We have a 54-year-old house that has the original cast iron drain and the washroom. For years we've been unable to use the washroom due to the pipe not draining. Also our kitchen sink drained poorly because there was a vacuum created by the clogged pipe in the washroom. Allen used the camera and a snake and determined that there were two large clogs he got rid of those in about 45 minutes and also fixed an exterior faucet. Everything seems to work great now and we are extremely pleased with this company. The best part is it was only $147 to fix everything. We highly recommend using this company.

Blue Dragon Plumbing, LLC Plumber
Gilbert did a fantastic job for us. The Pressure Regulator Valve on our new home wasn't functioning properly, resulting in annoyingly low water pressure. Gilbert was able to quickly troubleshoot the issue and install a replacement. Professional & on time. Our repair ended up coming in under the original estimate, we feel his service offers a good value. We will be using Gilbert for any future plumbing repair needs.

Daniel's Plumbing and Air Conditioning Plumber
I’m glad that other people have had good luck with Daniel’s Plumbing. Mine was not.Called them in June of 2018 with a broken water line in the front yard. They came out, gave an estimate that seemed a little high, but was within reason, did the repair (we had them back out later for a clogged drain) and all was good until September of 2019.Same water leak in same part of the yard. Called them to find out what could be done and was told that they would send someone out to take a look, but their warranty was only good for one year. Once worker was at the house I was told that the repair would cost $100 more than last year and they could only offer 10% discount IF the break was on their prior work. They wouldn’t even dig to determine if it was on their work until I agreed to their price. Worker called his supervisor and was given same answer. What good are great reviews (we were originally referred by a friend and felt better after reading online reviews) if you don’t stand behind your work, would rather quote “policy,” and not even offer a reasonable solution to my concerns?Called one of their competitors, who was out in less time, and they offered to do the work for almost half of what Daniel’s “discount” price would have been. To top it off, the repair that was needed was on the work that Daniel’s had done last year.Daniel’s has lost a customer, and I will make sure to let friend that referred me to them (real estate agent in N Austin) about our experience.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Austin Plumber
I have used Mr. Rooter for quite a few years. They have done a variety of general plumbing jobs for us as well as major jobs like replacing a sewer line. They are always polite and on time, and in general do good work.My most recent experience however, makes me question whether I will use them again. We purchased a new toilet to replace an older model and I was planning to install it myself. However, I discovered that the water cutoff valve to the toilet was an old style valve with flare fittings and could not find a fill line that would fit. So I called Mr. Rooter to replace the valve with a more modern ball valve. I was given an estimate ($286) which seemed really high but I thought maybe it was more complicated than I thought. Well it wasn't -- the technician (who by the way was very nice -- no complaint with him) simply unsoldered the old valve and soldered in an adapter and new valve (actual time to complete all this was like 20 minutes plus a trip to a supply house because he didn't have the correct valve in his truck). So my $150 toilet ended up costing $450 thanks to the valve replacement and I'm still not sure why I was charged so much for the work.

Capital City Plumbing & Drain Plumber
We hired Capital City as part of a refresh on our house before putting it up for sale. We gave Jeff Bogus a list, he bid it, and we approved the work. He then took the liberty of adding on to his scope of work, and got snippy when we told him that wasn't in his bid - that it was on other vendor's work list. We questioned his bill, and endured some of his psuedo-legal bickering. Ultimately we paid his price and moved on - it wasn't worth the trouble. HOWEVER, a month later, we got a $1000 water bill. We asked Jeff to come out and check his work. He refused, saying that since we argued over the original bill, that removes (us from) additional work and warranty. As a recovering attorney, I always find this psuedo-legal babble entertaining. What isn't so entertaining is a plumber that's hard to deal with on the front end, and won't help on the back end when there's a problem. Caveat Emptor.

Thunderbird Plumbing Co. Plumber
tl;dr: great work, good prices, versatile - highly recommendedWe had a leak in our garage and water in our water heater pan. Unfortunately they were not related, it turns out we had a leak in our laundry pipes and our 18-year old water heater was giving up the ghost. We called our regular plumber but he was unavailable, so we called the references he gave us as well as some companies off Yelp like Thunderbird plumbing. Ted from Thunderbird seemed the most knowledgeable and trustworthy (according to Hope, who used to work with a lot of subs as an architect and a construction project manager), and surprisingly enough also had the cheapest estimate. (Some plumbers wouldn’t even do all the work we wanted, like installing a pressure relief valve).A few days later Ted came to do all the work, and it seems to be done really well. He even replaced our main water shutoff valve without charging us more than his original estimate. All in all, a great experience, well worth a 5-star rating.
