We had an unknown leak on our property since 2 weeks but we were not able to locate it. We received email from the city that we are consuming excessive water - 12 gph. But because the water leak was not visible anywhere, the process got very complicated. Each plumber had their own methods, some were invasive (poking several holes in walls, ground) and some suggested to reach out to leak detection companies. Though one of the plumbing companies suspected the leak spot, their estimate came to be too high $5K+.In this context, Johnny Rooter Plumbing attended us with care and they were extremely helpful. Their plumbers Mike and Bobby were extremely jolly, helpful and knowledgeable. They located the correct spot (under our concrete driveway) and with minimal digging, they were able to fix it. On top of that, they refilled the hole in the driveway and patched it up with matching concrete. Moved the dirt back into the other holes to reduce our clean up after the fix. It was whole day process but glad that we were able to locate the leak once for all and stop the water loss.We would highly recommend them due to positive attitude towards work, great work ethics, no arrogance, very down to earth demeanor and most importantly reasonable price. When others were quoting us atrociously, these guys did it 1/5 of it!

I went through two plumbers via my home warranty (American Home Shield) before giving a call to Johnny Rooter. Not only was Cameron able to fix my sink stoppage/clog with professional ease, he was a really cool guy! Mike fixed our shower issue super fast (< 10 m) and was very respectful about our space. Our property management company called them after their normal handipeople spent 5 hours making a slow draining shower fully clogged. Highly recommend

I'm a repeat customer, with good reason, Johnny Rooter is a fantastic plumbing company, and don't be fooled by the name, they do everything plumbing related, from fixing clogs to replacing a toilet. This time an unbalanced washer snapped a waterline in the laundry room flooding the house on a Sunday. They gave me instructions that day on how to get cold water back and were here early the following Monday morning and the quite polite technician performed an excellent service quickly for a very reasonable price. He even gave me free advice on an unrelated issue with my AC condensor drain. I highly recommend Johnny Rooter for any of your plumbing needs.

I've used Johnny Rooter for both fixing clogged drains and general plumbing work, and was very pleased with their craftsmen and the ease of getting the work scheduled.

Very nice people but they have gotten crazy expensive. They sent out two people (one appeared to be a trainee) on a non-weekend and non-emergency call. A garden hose faucet (bibb) needed replacing and I was afraid that I had messed it up since it would not come off and got a tiny bit twisted around.The people were nice and decided that the only thing needed was to unscrew the old faucet (it took some muscles) and screw the new one on. The cost was just under $250! Seriously, they only had to unscrew the old one and screw on the new one. Took about 15 minutes and they even had me turn the water to the house off and later back on myself. And the faucet itself is now crooked!I contacted the company and the owner feels that the charge is reasonable. Too bad that he has gotten so greedy and charges so much. He must have a yacht payment due.

Cameron tackled what must have been over half a century of accumulation in our washing machine drain; successfully! He worked tirelessly and at considerable length to tackle the problem. A terrific example of work ethic and skill. We are extremely impressed by his determination and professionalism. Cost was also most reasonable. Very highly recommend this!

Outstanding! So grateful to Johnny Rooter! Plumbing leaks never happen at a convenient time. I got a knock on the door from a city employee on Friday after 5pm letting me know I had a big leak outside and after turning off the water, I called Johny Rooter. I'd used them several times before and had always been happy but this was a big job and I was worried. I am so impressed with Coleman. He came all the way from Leander back into Austin on Friday night, worked in the dark and found the leak and fixed it. He was professional, courteous, kind and trustworthy. Because it was after hours and digging in the dark takes longer, I was worried I was going to have a HUGE bill but he took care of us. Paying a plumber is like paying a dentist. You hate the bill but I can honestly say he deserved every penny of it and while I hate having to pay for a leak, I'm glad the good folks at Johnny Rooter get that money. Thanks again Coleman. In the midst of the aftermath of the worst snowstorm and record cold temperatures in Austin and no electricity, I had two toilets back up and needed a plumber fast!I found Johnny Rooter on a Google search and I was amazed when a real person answered!Thousands of people had broken pipes, so I expected a long wait, but was pleasantly surprised at how responsive they were to my needs.They answered my phone calls, they arrived on time, cleared my backups with the efficiency of a surgeon, and triaged another issue - a broken hot water pipe under the slab.Since it was not as critical to get that repaired immediately, and I knew there were other people with far worse pipe situations, we discussed and agreed they would return mid-March to make those repairs.I was also pleasantly surprised that their rate was so affordable, especially when plumbers were in high demand.I highly recommend Johnny Rooter for so many reasons! You'll be impressed, too!

The plumber was prompt, courteous, competent and informative. He restored a bathroom to functionality and told me about preventive maintenance techniques. My commode no longer wobbles, and the drain pipes now empty out as they were designed to do. He also used a camera to find a crack in a pipe within the concrete slab. The bathroom went from zero drainage to normal in a little over an hour.

I had a very positive experience with this company today dealing with a clogged sewer pipe. It was easy to set up an appointment, the plumber was on time, and he was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and masked. Best of all, the price was very reasonable. Chris came out in March to replace two flush valve ballcocks in my toilets, replaced 2 old faucets w new ones in bathroom, and changed out the Roman tub faucet. He did an excellent job and gave me quite a bit of information when I asked him questions. He contacted me later to be sure everything was in good shape and even came back to tweak one faucet to be sure it was perfect.Very professional and knowledgeable

Robert fixed our issue quickly and professionally. He explained precisely what happened and suggested we check out another component that might be causing us problems - and his hunch was correct.I correctly installed a gas dryer in our home, however, our clothes still weren't drying. We called another company (Hill Country Homework - might be Austin Homework by now) to inspect the issue. The tech (probably the owner? he couldn't seem to make up his mind about whether he's the owner) suggested a fix that made things worse. He left our home with an obvious scent of gas and told us to call 311 if the smell was noticeable the next morning. It was - and the fire department came to check it out.Robert was dispatched later to investigate the issue. He comported in exactly the way you'd expect from a Marine Vet. He also suggested we check if the dryer vent that runs from wash room to the roof was clogged. Sure enough, that was why our clothes weren't drying - it had nothing to do with my installation. I'd recommend Robert at Johnny Rooter to anyone.

Got a quote for clogged toilet. They arrived in 4 hours. Talk about FAST service!! Cameron & Luis checked my toilet and noticed I needed a new fill valve. They changed it, and the service was reasonably priced. Cameron has been with the company for 11 years. He is very polite and professional. Truly grateful to have Cameron and Luis fix my toilet. On a Saturday, both our toilets had leaked from the base all over our bathrooms. First 2 places said they'd get someone out Monday afternoon. Called Johnny Rooter, they said they'd be there in an hour, and they were. Cameron was friendly, took care of the clog, and explained our options for preventing future problems. We decided to buy 2 new toilets and Jason installed both of them. Charged by the hour for the install and didn't even take 2 full hours. Super nice folks answering the phones, too. They were great and even though we had to pay an extra fee for them to come out on a Saturday, it was absolutely worth it.

Johnny Rooter plumbing has been doing all the plumbing repairs in my 1957 home for years. When I had to have a major tunneling and sewage pipe replacement there was no question of who I would hire. These folks are reliable, fair and do great quality work. I found the crew that worked on my massive plumbing job very professional and conscientious about their work, making sure I had some operational plumbing, explaining to me what was going on and leaving their work environment and my house tidy every day. Had an issue with sewage backing up and of course it was after hours. I got a hold of the answering service which immediately had a gentleman by the name of Chris Garbee call me. Talking with him on the phone he was very professional and explained the fees up front and it was going to be expensive since they are located in Austin and i live in Taylor but i was willing to pay, but when i told him my situation he started asking questions and had me check a couple of things ,after telling him what i was looking at he told me that it sounded like an issue on the city side of the sewage line going to the street and said i should call the city first and let them look at it. Sure enough the city came out about 10pm and found the issue with their main line and had my sewage flowing again in about an hour. I cant say enough about Chris and his professionalism, he could have come out and charged me an exceptional amount of money which would have only been fair due to the distance i lived but he did not. Thank you Chris and Johnny Rooter, i will definetly call when i need your service again as well as tell all my friends...thanks, Paul

$389 to replace a washerless sink faucet a bit excessive?

We had someone from Johnny rooter install new sink and faucet for us about 6 months ago.It was installed poorly by someone know longer with the company. When our faucet quit working this week and the disposal broke, they sent someone over immediately. They were able to fix everything. Sean and Jason were great! They had to get creative because of some electrical problems but they were able to fix the sink and disposal. And they didn't even charge us! Will definitely use again.

AWESOME JOB! Thanks for the AWESOME work. The plumber came on time was very nice and completed his work in a timely manner. He even saved us some money by showing us something simple that we could do.( we are big do it ourselves people but didn't want to mess with copper piping) He installed a delta rough in valve for our shower and even extended the shower head so that it would accommodate taller people when in the shower. He even looked at the pipes for our roman tub rough in valve and fixtures and answered my questions about moving the pipes over. He was very kind and nice I will be requesting him to do the other plumbing we need done. The work was good quality.Oh, by the way another plumbing company ( FYI: on Angies list with high ratings and good reviews) told us it would cost $705 to put that shower rough in valve in. Always get a second opinion if it sounds like too much. I knew enough that he was way off because our bathroom is gutted the walls are exposed no cement board on them. I don't know what this guy was going to do that cost that much. So I called Johnny Rooter and they where very helpful even the guy I called the day before at Johnny Rooter was awesome he answered all my questions on the phone and was very patient with me.

Best company I've worked with in the last 8 years at my downtown Austin business. They continue to go above and beyond and explain things to me in a way that I would understand. When I had an issue with my hot water heater another company, reliant plumbing, told me it was going to be between 10 to $20,000 to fix (replace the whole system). Johnny rooter came in identified the problem and all I paid with six hundred bucks to get it fixed. 3 years ago and going strong!Most recently I had a commode go haywire. My technician, Bam Bam, was efficient, knowledgeable, quick and professional. He fixed my issue in the most timely manner and have me great tips to care for my pluming to save me money in the long run.Most of the time they are there within hours of my call. I will always use this 5 start company for my home and business needs!

These folks go the extra mile to make things right! There was a bit of confusion the morning of my appointment and Johnny Rooter was not able to come at the time that was scheduled on the previous day, and they made the extra effort to come out the same day after hours to rectify the issue. Not only was the issue resolved, but they made no hesitation to assume responsibility. Things happen, and they did what needed to be done. Can’t ask for anything more from a service company!

I just performed a variation of what I did regarding an unrelated electrical issue some years back...tripping or not tripping a breaker. The electrical fix-it company charged for a service call, a 5-minute non-issue.This time, it involved a plumbing (another non-) issue, as it turns out. And an embarrassing one at that. There was no charge for the service call. Very nice gesture from a plumbing business...any send out on a call business. I was recommended to Johnny Rooter by a reputable contractor-type guy I use from time to time. I'll call on J rooter again. Curtis is a pleasant young man and thanks to him and a sound company policy, I didn't have to pay for my oversight. WW

Called up on New Years Day for an emergency. Was told a technician would call be back. Never received a call, 3+ hours later Roto-rooter had someone at my house to clean up the mess & unblock, although the damage had already been done. Would not recommend Johnny Rooter to anyone who has an emergency.

These guys are great. Dennis, who I now ask for by name, is fast, efficient and cheerful. He fixes my problems with a minimum of drama and expense. I once had a plumber say I needed a new $3500 sewer line. I got a second opinion from Johnny Rooter/Dennis and he fixed my problem for $125. I wouldn't use anyone else. From my experience, the staff doesn't communicate well with each other or the client. Dispatch communicated one thing to me and the plumber apparently got a different communication. Maybe they are just having an off week. Second time rescheduling. They say third time's a charm, I hope so

I was happy with the rapid response to my request for an appointment, the courteous workers who showed up on time, and the speed with which they fixed my broken kitchen faucet. I blanched, however, when they presented me with the bill -- $ 175! Good work, but pricey!

I called and made and appt and took off of work to meet them. They no called no showed and then when I called back and spoke to Tara she said they could come out for an extra $45. I told her I scheduled an appt with one of her plumbers last night and gave her his phone number to verify. She said ok and still wanted to charge me $45 extra. If you own this company and read this please start recording your calls from clients and listening to them because your burning leads. I would give 0 stars if possible for wasting my time.

I had am employee, Kevin, come out because of a slow flow faucet in my bathroom. He took it apart and put it back together (not fixed) and charged me $208.04, said I needed my faucet replaced. Meanwhile, he broke the wire sliding storage drawer underneath the cabinet. When I walked into the bathroom, he was picking up these tiny, tiny little silver balls off of the bathroom floor. When I asked him what he was doing, he said the balls were from trying to remove the sliding storage drawer. He attempted to put it back, but now it doesn't slide. I stopped payment on the check and am waiting for the company to call me so I can explain what happened.

Zach was so professional and informative. He is a man of his word and showed up early to start the job and even finished early too! I highly recommend them!

Bam Bam came out to investigate a possible water leak and he took the time to show us how to check for basic leaks and explained what he was doing in layman’s terms. He definitely knew what he was doing, and had patience with us asking him question after question, and was friendly. Bam Bam made my first experience with a plumber very positive and memorable. We will definitely be contacting Johnny Rooter and specifically requesting Bam Bam for all our future plumbing needs!

Showed up on time for a day of appointment, got to work quickly and had my drain snaked and running clean in no time. I will say that I appreciated the extra time he took to snake well past the clean out, even though the blockage was only within the house.

I called my landlord to do some plumbing repairs on a Friday at around noon. By 2:45pm Chris from Johnny Rooter had my shower fixed. Fantastic service.

Chris performed the repair quickly, neatly and was in every way a consummate professional. Untouchable service at a competitive rate. Will be using JR for all plumbing repairs going forward.

Not only did they clear the main line blockage for half what anyone else in town was charging, they came back out and cleared debris the city left after doing more repairs and didnt charge me a second time. They did it all quickly and worked with me on scheduling. Thank you!

Bam Bam was prompt, friendly, and FAST! He replaced my diverter valve and installed a showerhead in minutes. Having someone come in during social distancing quarantine was a scary thought but Bam Bam did everything possible to mitigate exposure. He wore a mask, left his shoes at the door, worked quickly, and was six feet away at all times. As a high risk person, I truly appreciated the extra effort!

They may be ok installing something or augering a sewer, but they are not able to troubleshoot and fix a problem. Avoid them for finding a fixing a problem. They'll charge too much, take too long and in the end you'll find their diagnosis was wrong and you'll still need to fix the real problem.

Spent nearly $1,000 with Johnny Rooter. The City of Austin threatened me because their work was not to code and had another plumber come in and rip out their stuff and start over.I asked for a refund and never heard back.
