Apex Plumbing, Heating, and Air Pros Plumber
Let me start with the good things first: They are polite, and responsive. They are quick to provide estimates. Their service calls are free. Now let me address the overarching negative: Their prices ARE ABSOLUTELY INSANE. I'm wiling to wager that brain surgeons are paid less on an hourly basis than what they're trying to charge.I am a landlord and needed a new gas control valve on a tenant's water heater. (This is roughly a $180 part, and it takes about 45 minutes to install.) I called these guys. As I said, the dispatcher was awesome. She said they'd get somebody out to look at the problem later that day. And indeed they did - right in the middle of the four-hour window that they quoted. I have no complaints up until this part.So then the tech called to discuss the repair and give me a quote. He wanted $914 to replace the gas valve. I didn't really know how to respond at first. But then I was like, You realize an entirely new water heater costs about $550, right? Why would I pay you $914 to replace a small part? Then he explained that they charge $2,200 to replace a water heater. (They must be out of their minds. I really hope nobody pays them this much, as at that rate, they're charging about $1,600 in labor for a pretty simple job that takes less than two hours to complete.)I told him that I really couldn't justify paying them $914 to replace a $175 part. He then countered by offering to let me obtain the part myself, and have them install it for $550. (Again, this is a very simple, 45-minute job. It entails draining the water tank, unplugging two wires, unthreading three gas lines, unscrewing the valve, and reversing the process. The longest part of the job is sitting and waiting on the tank to drain. You can watch a Youtube video on it if you don't believe me.) So that's roughly $730 an hour. Sounds like a GREAT deal, right?Anyway, I thanked the repair person for his time, and said I'd think about it. Ultimately, I thought they were crazy. I ordered the part on Amazon and did it myself this morning. As I said, it took 45 minutes, and I am NOT a skilled plumber. I'm just a regular guy who can't afford this company's predatory pricing.Edit: I uploaded pictures of the quotes, in case anybody thought the numbers I cited were a bit far-fetched. I know I would have.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Columbus Plumber
Though they performed the jet cleaning of my foundation drains and inspected with a camera, I felt the whole service was rushed. Like not giving water a chance to clear the pipe before inspecting with camera. Estimate for sump pump was $1000 higher than a competitive estimate and included less installation work than the competitor.

Accurate Plumbing Plumber
I talked with Matt from Accurate yesterday. Since he doesn't have a jetter yet, he told me that cleaning out the drain might not get it all, and it would cost me more money if I'd have to get someone different to come jet it yet. I appreciate his honesty, and would not hesitate to use his services in the future.

Custom Care Plumbing, Drains and Construction Plumber
Recently had a main drain issue in my older home. After contacting 3 different plumber/drain cleaning companies, whose estimates were ridiculous, a neighbor recommended Chuck Ball, owner of CCG. Chuck came to my home....after hours on a Friday night and after working all day and assured me he would take care of the problem. He had to return to his shop for the water pressurized snake, needed to clear the drain properly. His professionalism, knowledge and caring efficiency was amazing. The actual clearing only took about 10 minutes, not the hours others had estimated it would take, including digging up my yard. The blockage was in my basement main drain U joint pipe, not my aeration system! Not only was I delighted with his attitude and work ethic, but with the more than reasonable cost. Can't give him enough kudos!! Hire this company!

I had dripping faucets that I wasn't able to fix on my own. I called RotoRooter and a plumber (Bobby Griffith) was at my house within the hour. He was wearing mask and gloves and explained the fix on the faucets to me so I could do it myself next time. He also let me know there was a 6 month guarantee on the work.

Calhoun Plumbing Plumber
*I gave 1-star because he did show up.

I am a ♿ed Veteran of 2-wars. I served during Operation Desert Storm 1991& Operation Enduring Freedom 2011-2012.

I have been trying to use the VA HISA Grant to repair my bathroom and their staff Estimate Master Plumber Tommy has on (2) seperate visits to my home failed to provide me with a written estimate. I believe it is because he wants to meet directly with the VA staff that oversees the Grant program so that he can have direct access to the Goose that lays the golden ?. I have had to apply for this Grant now 4-times due to my declining health.

I will be making a report to the local authorities. Because, of his deceitful business practices. I can't move forward with my repairs unless I have an accurate estimate that addressed underlying plumbing issues and any other recommendations that can be validated by health and safety needs.

I must now start over which means requesting a medical referral from my primary care provider at the VA. I have two surgeries scheduled this month and early spring. I was awarded the maximum Grant amount. Calhoun Plumbing advertise online as being a Veteran friendly business but that has not been my experience when dealing with Tommy.

I went online just to see if there was any chance that Tommy was right about having to speak directly with the VA Grant coordinator. So, I spoke to the person listed on my application packet after he left. I also performed a Google search concerning the VA HISA grant. Tommy was wrong and after dealing with him on 2-seperate ocasions for the same issue. I was more depressed, frustrated and I even felt hated and humiliated. Because, he came into my home on false pretenses. His real motive was to make business connections with the VA in order to score profits and brownie points with the Owner of Calhoun Plumbing.

Tommy’s motives lost the company thousands of dollars. The Company has placed way too much power in this man's hands. I can clearly see who is running things at Calhoun Plumbing. No employee or Business is above the Law. I simply scheduled for him to provide me with an estimate. However, once I told him about the VA Grant application process and that my deadline had been extended to accommodate his estimate it was like my previous experience with him.

The fact is that I became invisible to him. Women and minorities don’t like being treated as invisible and what they have to say doesn’t count and that’s how I felt when he emailed me back requesting the VA staff members contact information. I missed my deadline and once again Tommy became the “gatekeeper” preventing me from turning in my application for the Grant to repair my bathroom. The basis for the Grant is Medical necessity just like a referral to physical therapy, medication or surgery. The fact that Tommy is out doing this to clients is inexcusable the same as if I take a medical prescription to the pharmacy. A pharmacist will only consult with the doctor if there is something wrong with the prescription. I know because that was my job both military & civilian.

Someone at Calhoun Plumbing needs to reign him in and there needs to be more accountability for the appointments that he is going out on representing Calhoun Plumbing starting with him corresponding with clients using his personal email. Calhoun Plumbing needs to match the emails & any written estimates up with the appointments scheduler. Calhoun Plumbing needs to set up a business email so there is oversight. As I stated I will be making a report with pictures of the condition that he left me in for that past 2-years. The VA HISA grant is only approved based on the Veterans Service Connected disability which means I qualify due to combat related injuries.

So, thanks Calhoun Plumbing you will be hearing from the authorities. I am going to make it a priority. Because I have a feeling that I am not the only customer that has been treated in this manner.

Truthfully,

Melanise Nixon

BCI Mechanical Contracting Plumber
As a homeowner, I've used this company for my sporadic plumbing needs for over 10 years but after my most recent experience I finally am writing a review. In this case, my water heater failed and was leaking. I called at 7am and in spite of them having a full schedule and even with 3 guys out for various reasons, they managed to fit me in the same day and got me a new water heater installed. I was impressed (again) and recommend them without reservation.
