We hired Capital City as part of a refresh on our house before putting it up for sale. We gave Jeff Bogus a list, he bid it, and we approved the work. He then took the liberty of adding on to his scope of work, and got snippy when we told him that wasn't in his bid - that it was on other vendor's work list. We questioned his bill, and endured some of his psuedo-legal bickering. Ultimately we paid his price and moved on - it wasn't worth the trouble. HOWEVER, a month later, we got a $1000 water bill. We asked Jeff to come out and check his work. He refused, saying that since we argued over the original bill, that removes (us from) additional work and warranty. As a recovering attorney, I always find this psuedo-legal babble entertaining. What isn't so entertaining is a plumber that's hard to deal with on the front end, and won't help on the back end when there's a problem. Caveat Emptor.

Noticed a leak at our rental property right before a new tenant was to move in. It was also right before the freeze in Austin in early February. Made many frantic blind calls to various plumbers and plumbing companies in Austin (I don't live in Austin) and finally talked to a real person - Fabian- with L & P Plumbing. He went way beyond anything I expected after I described our issue. He actually went over to the house, crawled under to assess the problem, turned the water off so it wouldn't freeze, went back over a couple days later to turn water back on for the gas company and he did all this even before I committed to them doing the repair and without asking for my life history or a credit card number or a deposit. They were prompt, honest, fairly priced (as far as I know), did the repair quickly, worked with our tenant, and exhibited great customer service. I strongly recommend L & P Plumbing and will rely on them for our future plumbing issues.

When I called these guys after a failed pressure regulator valve, they came right out. They made a quick fix and hoped that would resolve the issue, sadly it did not. Not their fault. Called Tommy the next morning and he sent the guys right out despite a full schedule and got us all fixed up. Our water pressure is better than it’s been in years! So thankful for these guys!!

My water heater was leaking. I received bids from two plumbers who insisted the unit had to be replaced and gave bids of between $1,000 and $1,750 for just labor costs (the new water heater being a separate cost) because of the unusual configuration of the unit, space constraints, location of water filter, etc.I refused to accept those outlandish prices. I contacted the manufacturer and was sold a replacement component intending to repair the water heater myself. But, then I was stuck because my water shut-off didn’t completely turn off the water. Enter more plumbers who were telling me the only solution is to shut off water to the entire condominium building. They said that process would take several hours (on the clock the whole time). The fact that the water shut-off wasn’t operational also would have increased the original bids significantly as those bids assumed the water shut-off was functioning properly. After two weeks of a broken and dripping water heater, I contacted Al Mac who offered to come out and look at the situation. Instead of just giving me an estimate and scheduling a later date to repair the problem, he offered to fix it right then. For a couple hundred bucks, he engaged a temporary fix with my water shut-off, replaced the broken component with the part I purchased, and had the water heater totally fixed and working within an hour!!!It took him 5 minutes to diagnose the problem and explain how he could fix the unit, all at a fraction of the cost of other plumbers.I greatly appreciated his integrity to tell me what was actually needed, his willingness to use parts I had already acquired, and to repair the water heater (versus replacing it), saving me literally thousands of dollars and unnecessary work.He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and even vacuumed the area when the work was done, leaving my space cleaner than before he arrived to do work. The total bill was EXACTLY what he said it would be.I cannot recommend his services more!!

Charles and Matthew were the plumbers who worked on our project to install several new water fountains for our Pre-K. Both were very professional and respectful to our staff. They made sure everything was done according to code and made sure everything was working properly. They cleaned up the area very nicely. Definitely will use Custom Plumbing again.
