Best Lighting Outlet in Jacksonville FL

American Electrical Contracting Inc. Electrician
My parents were having electrical issues with lights flickering and dimming, and the wall outlets emitting black smoke. Decided to call American Electrical to come out and take a look due to their great rating.2 very polite technicians came out, replaced a wall outlet. After an hour, they found two problem breakers (kitchen and garage). The two technicians switched the two breakers off and told us not to use the outlets connected to the two breakers. They said my parents' house should be alright now, but the technicians said we would most likely have to rewire our attic (important: they never actually step foot into the attic to have a look). They told me $400 to $700 depending on how long to rewire. Charged us $195 for the visit and said their front desk will call me the next morning to set up an appointment.Immediately after they left, we started having issues again even though they told us everything should be fine now. Thankfully they never bothered to call us to follow up because we would have probably gave them $400-700 to repair something that did not need to be repaired.I called another technician, described the issue to him, he came out, and within 10 minutes identified the actual problem (loose neutral wire and it wasn't in the attic) and actually repaired it for $125. $70 cheaper than American Electrical and he actually fixed it.Moral of the story: Get a second opinion, be skeptical. Even though my parents wasted $195 of their hard earned money for a bad band-aid, it would have cost them a lot more in the long run because it would have been an endless cycle of fixing unrelated problems. How much total would we actually spend to eventually have the actual problem solved? $1000? $1500? We unfortunately cannot recommend American Electrical.

Advanced Electric of North Florida Electrician
Advance Electric was fantastic through the entire process from the estimate to completion. I give 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for their professionalism, expertise and honesty. I’m having a pool installed and needed electric run from my inside panel to the pool panel. I had 4 different companies come out for an estimate, 2 quoted me extremely high for the work I needed done. Brice came out to take a look at what I needed, he sent me the proposal shortly after, it was just the right price and very reasonable for what I needed done.

Additionally, I was very impressed with how quickly the work was scheduled and completed, (within 2 weeks from the estimate) all the other companies couldn’t guarantee a timeframe of when they’d be able to start and complete the work. Communication through the entire process was outstanding and their team of electricians where all about business and getting the job done right; I highly recommend their business! Thank you Advance Electric and your entire team for a job well done!!

All American Electrical Contracting, Inc. Electrician
Customer service is terrible. Technician was supposed to arrive between 8 and 10, didn't show up until 11am. They did not even have the courtesy to call and let me know he was running late. Still charged me a service fee for 2 seconds of work and never once apologized for the inconvenience. Don't waste your time and money with this rude and inconsiderate business.

This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a contractor. The quality of the work was substandard, the attitude I got from Danny- as they blatantly tried to job-change scam me -was unprofessional, and the additional work that needed to be done all led to this. They did structural damage to my home, they didn't do the job as they said they would, and then refused to finish without charging me more money.

I was EXPLICITLY clear with these folks when they quoted me that I did not want to retain 1 single component from the original panel. We failed inspection because they didn't install AFCI breakers. They blamed the county inspector... Only one of two situations is possible from this... They don't know local building codes, or they do this on purpose to claim a job-change and charge more. Either one reflects extremely poorly on this company. They then proceeded to tell me it would be another $500 to do the job to code. To reiterate, they didn't finish the job I was quoted for, then claimed they needed an additional $500 to finish it. I was originally willing to pay it to just get it done. After asking for some clarification from Danny and getting chewed out, I realized this was going to be far more than $500 before they would finish the job. They were planning on taking me to the cleaners. I refused to continue with them.

I was also very clear when getting the quote that the line could not be run through the attic. Danny assured me this would be fine. They ripped a giant hole in my ceiling and left it wide open, because they went through the attic. They also destroyed a load bearing stud, one they used to mount the panel. I will never forget showing this to Danny, and he looked me dead in the eye and said its not structural. They just used that very stud to mount the panel. It also was supporting roof beams. Unbelievable! They also didn't install the panel according to the manual, leaving enough space for drywall. They installed it flush to the studs. It had to be moved. Additionally, they didn't mount the panel bus into the panel! They completely left out the screws to retain the bus. They called for an inspection with the panel bus floating in the panel!

The way they ran the line from the meter and along the house looked horrid. It looked like a drunk high schooler had hung Christmas lights, only it's a 200amp electrical line. I insisted they clean it up, but they never sealed all the holes they drilled through the siding, making a huge water infiltration hazard.

They also billed me before the job was done. Every step of the way with this company was unprofessional. This job very nearly ended in litigation. Unless you're willing to finalize your contract with the assistance of lawyers, AVOID NERD HOME!

Thompson Electric and Air Electrician
If you value your time and money at all, you will never, ever deal with this company and their dishonest, overpriced practices. We were charged for four hours of labor when only an hour of work was performed. I believe in rewarding hard work and would have gladly paid the quoted price if the time quoted was the time the job took to perform. When my wife contacted the business owner to discuss the work that was performed and how we were overcharged since the tech was only at our house for an hour instead of the quoted four, the owner was rude and raised his voice many times, lied when saying that he checked a gps system to confirm four hours of work, and, after my wife informed him that she would be leaving poor reviews about him and his company, he stated that thousands of complaints were posted about him online monthly and that he was basically welcoming the reviews. Wow. I could not believe his audacity. Some people have never learned the value of customer service and this guy is quite possibly the worst.

My wife informed him that she would be posting information on the web to inform unaware users to not use this company. I implore you to reconsider if you have any inkling of desire to use this company. Perhaps we are unlucky with having to deal with the owner and tech that we did... But our experience has been that they are the absolute worst, and we've used plenty of different companies taking care of rental properties and this is by far the worst and the first I've ever felt a need to write a negative review about because of their practices. We will be filing a BBB complaint to hopefully put more exposure out about this terrible excuse for a business and for the poor practices by the business proprietor. It is a real shame that we have to take this action.

TL;DR Avoid this company at all costs.

Jax Electric LLC Electrician
Michael Thurston, owner and master electrician of JaxElectric, has consistently met and exceeded our expectations in doing a variety of electrical projects for our mid-1960's home. His work has included (1) the installation of rope light in crown molding in three of our rooms (see picture 1); the installation of recessed lighting in three areas of the home (see picture 2); and most recently the installation of the 240 volt capability with a NEMA plug for an infrared sauna in our Florida Room (see pictures 3 and 4). And, we have already scheduled Michael to install an external hookup for our new gasoline engine generator ... which we hope we seldom have to use in Florida's hurricane weather.

I called and spoke with Josh who was very down to earth, personable, and honest. He had his employee Troy come out within an hour who was just as friendly, informative, and helpful. You get the professional work ethic but I felt I was also able to talk to them no different than I would if a family or friend were here to help with an issue. Both of which I value when calling a company. Definitely recommend and will keep them in mind for the future!
