I originally rated them 2 stars due to poor management, but the owner stepped in to fix a difference in quote over phone and quote from plumber. Owner was in the hospital, hence he could not return my call... but the manager ignored my calls. I'm changing my review to 5 stars because of the professionalism from the owner, Mr. Mathews. Still 2 stars to the manager.

Beware ... I cannot recommend them and I want to share my experience with them so it may benefit someone.
Good plumber, but bad management.
1) I called them for kitchen sink blockage
2) I got a quote for $X first hour and go from there.
3) Plumber came and gave me quote for $X + $200, and said the manager told him to give that estimate. A difference of $200 in quote and what I was charged.
4) Manager was not available (went home), so I let them fix the problem. It took less than 1 hour
5) I called the manager next day to get some of the money back (meet somewhere in the middle for the $200 difference), and he admitted he is new to job and made mistake in giving quote over phone.
He offered to give me back $25 trip fee.
6) I requested to talk to the owner, but he never returned my call. I called the manager several times for two days, and nobody returned my calls.
7) I never received any receipt or invoice, showing any kind of guarantees on their work.
My last resort is to leave a bad review so it may benefit someone.
2 Stars overall because plumber did his job. I would give 1 star for bad management.

Find anyone else. I got to a appointment time and 1hr after that time I got a rude phone call telling me another hour until someone would be here. So after 6 hours of waiting a young kid who knows nothing about my situation tells me he doesn't know how to even do my job. Then he tells me a supervisor would be out and I never received a phone call or nor did anyone show up. Find anyone else!!! Only one star cause I had to.

I will never let them fix a single thing in my house ever again!! Same problem different day!! We have already paid close to $400 and that was when the problem wasn’t that bad!! Now we are flooded in every room of the house that has water in it!! Kitchen,washroom and bathroom!! Once again we have to stay in a hotel for another week because they don’t even have an opening until next Monday!! 6 on your side is my next call!!

Our basement drain was overflowing into our basement and it was a horrible awful mess and smelled terribly, it was totally unexpected and can be extremely costly as some of you may already know. I called A BETTER DRAIN , and I left a message and it was just minutes when I got a text that he would call me shortly and he did just that. I talked with the owner STACEY SAVAGE, within a 1/2 hr. after I made the call. I explained the problem we were having, and that my husband had been off work, and with the pandemic and and the holiday's funds were very slim. he was out to our house the next day, he didn't even charge us to assess the problem, and left to go and get his equipment. Stacey was very professional, and understanding, he is VERY knowledgeable and he kept his fees to the minimum. We HIGHLY recommend him to any one who has a plumbing issue, his willingness to work with someone just out of common decency and desire to help someone in need is by far the best I've seen in a long time....THANKS STACEY. GOD BLESS

I am a ♿ed Veteran of 2-wars. I served during Operation Desert Storm 1991& Operation Enduring Freedom 2011-2012.

I have been trying to use the VA HISA Grant to repair my bathroom and their staff Estimate Master Plumber Tommy has on (2) seperate visits to my home failed to provide me with a written estimate. I believe it is because he wants to meet directly with the VA staff that oversees the Grant program so that he can have direct access to the Goose that lays the golden ?. I have had to apply for this Grant now 4-times due to my declining health.

I will be making a report to the local authorities. Because, of his deceitful business practices. I can't move forward with my repairs unless I have an accurate estimate that addressed underlying plumbing issues and any other recommendations that can be validated by health and safety needs.

I must now start over which means requesting a medical referral from my primary care provider at the VA. I have two surgeries scheduled this month and early spring. I was awarded the maximum Grant amount. Calhoun Plumbing advertise online as being a Veteran friendly business but that has not been my experience when dealing with Tommy.

I went online just to see if there was any chance that Tommy was right about having to speak directly with the VA Grant coordinator. So, I spoke to the person listed on my application packet after he left. I also performed a Google search concerning the VA HISA grant. Tommy was wrong and after dealing with him on 2-seperate ocasions for the same issue. I was more depressed, frustrated and I even felt hated and humiliated. Because, he came into my home on false pretenses. His real motive was to make business connections with the VA in order to score profits and brownie points with the Owner of Calhoun Plumbing.

Tommy’s motives lost the company thousands of dollars. The Company has placed way too much power in this man's hands. I can clearly see who is running things at Calhoun Plumbing. No employee or Business is above the Law. I simply scheduled for him to provide me with an estimate. However, once I told him about the VA Grant application process and that my deadline had been extended to accommodate his estimate it was like my previous experience with him.

The fact is that I became invisible to him. Women and minorities don’t like being treated as invisible and what they have to say doesn’t count and that’s how I felt when he emailed me back requesting the VA staff members contact information. I missed my deadline and once again Tommy became the “gatekeeper” preventing me from turning in my application for the Grant to repair my bathroom. The basis for the Grant is Medical necessity just like a referral to physical therapy, medication or surgery. The fact that Tommy is out doing this to clients is inexcusable the same as if I take a medical prescription to the pharmacy. A pharmacist will only consult with the doctor if there is something wrong with the prescription. I know because that was my job both military & civilian.

Someone at Calhoun Plumbing needs to reign him in and there needs to be more accountability for the appointments that he is going out on representing Calhoun Plumbing starting with him corresponding with clients using his personal email. Calhoun Plumbing needs to match the emails & any written estimates up with the appointments scheduler. Calhoun Plumbing needs to set up a business email so there is oversight. As I stated I will be making a report with pictures of the condition that he left me in for that past 2-years. The VA HISA grant is only approved based on the Veterans Service Connected disability which means I qualify due to combat related injuries.

So, thanks Calhoun Plumbing you will be hearing from the authorities. I am going to make it a priority. Because I have a feeling that I am not the only customer that has been treated in this manner.

We had a small leak coming from our upstairs bathroom, their employee replaced the part and wax ring around the toilet, but DID NOT TIGHTEN the connection properly. This resulted in a much larger problem and leak than we had initially, and caused much more damage to our downstairs ceiling. We called the plumber immediately after explaining that something wasn't right, but he belittled my wife and basically blew her off three times. It was only when I called and insisted that he go back to check that he did, saw that he screwed up, and fixed it properly. Oh, and they refused to do anything about the damage to the ceiling below. With so many plumbers in the area, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING.

He always gets me scheduled in a timely manner and leaves me a happy customer once he leaves, everytime! I wouldn't spend my money with anyone else. It is so hard these days to find someone to come out and fix a problem. When you do, it's an arm and leg to pay for. I called All Lines Gas and Plumbing with a gas heater problem. The heater was old, needed the parts and the city was on me to get it fixed before it got colder. Michael with all Lines Gas and Plumbing came out with no hesitation, fixed my problem in a timely matter and charged a reasonable price. I will use this company for all my plumbing issues here on out.
