Fox Plumbing, Heating & Cooling - Seattle Plumber
My water heater stopped working (essentially the pilot light won't stay on). The issue is likely with the thermocouple OR the gas valve.I had called Bel-Red Heating and Cooling to have someone come and look at it on Friday. They said they didn't have availability until Monday, but there sister compony Fox Plumbing Heating and Cooling might have availability. Bel-Red helped me setup the appointment with Fox for me and they told me that the diagnosis fee will be $135 (for Fox Plumbing)Before arriving at the home, Fox Plumbing called me and they were already trying to say that if this is happening then it is likely time to replace (btw - my heater is 8 year old, so not really ancient).Diagnosis Fee v/s Dispatch Fee - Now, Fox Plumbing arrives at my home, and does the same thing that i have tried (i.e. turn on pilot and then see if it stay on). Then, they again tell me that i should replace the heater without actually diagnosing the problem. Finally, when i tell them that they need to diagnose the issue they tell me that $135 is a dispatch fee and that includes the cost of them coming to my home and then they will charge in hour increments until they can figure out what is wrong. Now, this is different than what Bel-Red told me about Fox. I got to Fox GM and he was said that it might be a communication issue, but he honored the $135 dollar diagnosis fee (so that was good from Fox, but more problem flow below)Diagnosis - The Fox person starts opening the heater up, and then we can visually see that the thermocouple looks bad and likely needs to be replaced. There is a way to confirm that the thermocouple is faulty using a multimeter, but the Fox person did not have detector part that would allow him to confirm that the thermocouple is indeed the faulty part beyond just visual inspection. So, there is NO definitive diagnosis that i can trust. I was told that the cost to replace thermocouple is $415 (note: the cost of thermocouple is usually 20/30 dollars and takes less than 15 minutes to replace - so $415 seems excessive). Keeping the cost part aside, i simply didn't have confidence that the people knew what they were doing, and i decided that it is best to just pay the diagnosis fee (even though the diagnosis was confirmed) and just go to Bob Heating to get this fixed. So the basic competence of Fox people is low and best to avoid them.I caulked the $135 dollar diagnosis fee to my stupidity as i did not do the research required on the web that would have clearly shown the Fox Plumbing, Heating & Cooling should be avoided like the plague

Gene Johnson Plumbing & Heating Plumber
Such a rip off!!! Highly unsatisfied, I do not recommend this company. They charged us $538 ($500+tax) for an hour of plumbing work that took 15 minutes to repair one bathroom faucet. We have another faucet that needed replacement and they want to charge another $538 for another hour of work which will probably take another 15 minutes to do which we ended up not doing. We hired another company in the past and they did not over charge us like this company did. I highly discourage anyone to use them. Other companies offer so much better value and cost.

My home experienced a significant pipe burst, so I'm glad I hired this emergency plumber. He arrived right away and gave me a very affordable fix for the problem. He even came out the following morning to repair some more issues I was having without charging me extra!

Beacon Plumbing Plumber
Jake did a great job on our garbage disposal- he arrived within 2 hours of our first call to Beacon, explained everything, and had everything readily available to replace it on the spot. Thanks so much, Beacon! And, for the raffle- it was job number 219307, and our technician was Jake.UPDATE: revised due to realizing that we were VASTLY overcharged for this service. we paid just over $1000, and after comparing quotes, realized it should have cost closer to $500. We trusted Beacon and deeply regret it. The replacement was done correctly and promptly, which we appreciate- but in the future, we would NOT call Beacon again. Another contractor could have completed this service and charged us honestly and fairly. DO NOT CALL BEACON PLUMBING.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumber
The other night when my kitchen sink clogged my wife called Roto-Rooter. The customer service was awesome and scheduled an appointment right away. The plumber arrived to our house in a timely manner and got right to work. He was very friendly and had outstanding customer service. He educated me on some of the plumbing and how it all worked and gave me tips to prevent a clog in the future. I would highly recommend Roto-Rooter.

Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing Plumber
Would be very cautious using them. They charge $75 call out fee to tell you it’s $350 per hour for them to check why the water temperature is not hot enough. No transparency up front what so ever.

Repipe Masters Plumber
Nick and his crew were able to re-pipe my house in just one day, as promised. They were respectful and cleaned up when they left. Unfortunately I had a small leak at a connection, but they came back when i called, corrected the leak, and re-configured my tub and shower valves to my satisfaction. Their bid was significantly below the competing company that offers re-pipe services. I would recommend Re pipe Masters based on my experience.

Although they had to reschedule a few times, they were good about calling and letting us know and they were very apologetic. Adam was one of the plumbers who came out and they were very efficient and friendly and our bathrooms look great and haven't had any more issues!

Akers Outdoor Plumbing, Inc. Plumber
Without a second thought I would recommend and call Akers Outdoor Plumbing again. I came home from work and discovered a water mainline leak in my front yard/porch area. I have some good experience with broken things around the house but water endless rushing from my home into my front yard - not one of them.

I received a few bits of advice on 1) needing to locate where the water main line leak is 2) marking that location and 3) then servicing the lines where the leaks or breaks are. This is where I found the Akers can do all of this rather than hiring two companies - one to detect where the leak is at and then another to service and repair the pipe.

I was lucky and they were able to accommodate coming out the same day I called to take a look and give me an assessment of how bad the water leak was, a general estimate and assessment and help in whether to call the Seattle Public Utilities to come out and shut off the water. In doing so, Andy and Traci coordinated with me all day, great communication and made me feel confident with choosing someone I didn't know yet to help me.

Here is a recap of why I preferred and appreciated their service. Honest assessment from Day 1. Helped me turn off my water by myself at street level and showed the tools to use so I could use water when I needed until the permanent fix could be worked out. 2. Fair estimate and pricing - never once did I receive pricing that felt gouging or high 3. Great communication - Being flexible is key in this line of business from the customer end. Sometimes their jobs take longer than expected so my job had to be pushed by a day or so. Always talked to me about delays or changes right away and gave me a good understanding of when it was going to be rescheduled. 4. Going above and beyond to take care of me with helping with certifications, inspections from the city, rebates for excess water usages etc. I didn't ask for this help ( and didn't even know I should). They saved me hours of calls on the phone with inspectors and the ulilties company and thousands of dollars with fast-forwarding the rebate process. 5. The repair job was done right. Quality materials. Timing. No short-cuts. They took care of my home like it was their's or one of their family members. Trust isn't easily earned, especially with a trade that I may not even know how to assess quality or inaccuracies right...Andy and his crew (and amazing talented wife) are amazing and I'm glad I worked with them.

SODO Plumbing and Mechanical Plumber
Had them come out for a hot water heater repair, right on time and very professional. Also, the guy wasn’t equipped to fix the problem I had, but he told me how to do it myself and then didn’t charge me for the visit, saying he doesn’t like charging people when he doesn’t fix the problem.

Didn’t fix my issue, but it wasn’t their fault, and overall found them to be very trustworthy. Would recommend.

Seattle's Best Plumbing & Rooter LLC Plumber
I had Ryan plumb for a new tub, shower, and bathroom sink. He also installed a new toilet. Ryan always showed up when he said he would, was very good at communicating, very respectful of my home, and is HONEST. His installation was professionally done, and he cleaned up after each visit.
Ryan also installed a recirculation pump which produces instant hot water to the bathrooms that are located on the opposite side of the house where the hot water tank sits. This now saves us several gallons of water each time we turn on a faucet instead of waiting for the hot water to arrive.
I higher recommend Ryan for any of your plumbing needs.
