John Baethke and Son Plumbing is not cheap, but their prices are fair and their work is consistently excellent.

One evening a couple of weeks ago we were disturbed by an otherworldly moaning and growling coming from our basement. We called Baethke and made an appointment two days hence to find out if malevolent spirits had indeed taken residence in our ejector pump.

Our knight in shining armor came in the guise of a brave, young technician, Dan, who came out to do battle with whatever creatures were mauling the basement water goddesses.

In reality, it was just a failing sump pump and Dan was able to quickly diagnose the problem and offer a choice of increasingly less affordable solutions. (Alas, being a homeowner costs money!) Happily, Baethke does offer a range of products, and Dan was very good about explaining the pros and cons of each without trying to upsell any of the devices. We chose the most economical (about $1400) and Dan was able to immediately install our new sump pump. He was polite, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient.

Dan again came out the next week after we scheduled our yearly inspection. Happily, this was uneventful except for a minor toilet fix in the upstairs bathroom. What we loved about Dan (besides the fact that he ALWAYS covered his shoes with those little booties) was his cheerful thoroughness. Though this visit did not net Baethke much money that day, we never felt that Dan was rushing the inspection so that he could get to his next job. He checked every bathroom, every sink, every shower completely and deliberately. Though there were no problems to speak of, Dan let us know what we could expect in the future so that we could budget for whatever was coming down the pike. (Water Heater, we know you’re coming for us!) He also cautioned us about early warning signs of impending plumbing doom.

So to recap: if you’re looking for a cheap plumbing fix, go somewhere else. However, if you want quality work done by superior technicians, Baethke is the place to go. Ask for Dan. He’s great!

I had water leaking under my sink when I called Jan on December 12th. Jan troubleshooted the issue over the phone and diagnosed the issue as my garbage disposal had worn out and was leaking water. Jan was able to come out the next day and install a new Insinkerator Badger 5 Garbage Disposal. This solved the issue and I am very happy with his work. I would defiantly recommend Vanguard Plumbing and Sewer and I plan to use them for my future plumbing needs. Albert C.

I simply can not say enough how happy I am that I called Rocket Plumbing. I have had plumbing issues with our wellness clinic on Irving Park for over 15 years. I've had roto rooter, power plumbing, and a few other companies come out and charge a lot, but never truly fixed the problem. I called Rocket Pluming this week on an emergency call when our toilet was overflowing because of a combination of issues with old pipes, roots, 90 turns that most machines can't rout, etc.....these guys did their job.....came out within 30 minutes of may call, and worked diligently for over 4 hours until problem was resolved. Very kind, and intelligent young men. I was concerned about their experience level, as they looked 30 or younger, but boy did they get the job done! Thanks so much gentlemen!

Rob West and his team HAVE ALWAYS DONE RIGHT BY ME.

I literally just got off a 2 hour phone call with Rob himself where he took the time out of his day to help me understand the intricacies of our building's plumbing and to brainstorm ways that I can do a TON of the easy footwork myself. And he charged nothing for these two hours! This is why he is ALWAYS my go-to-guy.

Now I can do the easy investigating and don't have to drain our HOA Reserves on easy labor hours that we can do ourselves.

Yes, he literally gave up easy labor hours for the sake of our HOA Reserves. What a guy.

Just a heads up though. Rob can talk your ear off and I mean that in the absolute highest of compliments because information is king and he knows what he's talking about.

He also absolutely CRUSHED all the quotes/bids we conducted with other plumbing companies and his work was top notch. Oh, and he was available much easier and much sooner than the rest.

Not to be cheesy, but when I need to protect my HOA Reserves, Rob is my guy.

I have received professional and courteous service twice from this company. Both technicians dispatched to my unit to conduct repairs were knowledgeable and willing to help. Although there were some initial communication impediments, the company worked through them to resolve my issue (gas leaks). I would recommend this group of professionals to my friends/family. I would use them again for future needs.

I reached out to Apex Plumbing & Sewer Inc. a few days ago for two clogged drains in my building. What was explained to me as a routine rodding quickly turned into a flooded kitchen and water damage to my basement.

Apex refuses to accept responsibility for the water damages caused by their technician ($1,700) and instead offered me a credit of $150. I refused their offer and will be perusing alternative means of compensation for their damage.

I was fortunate enough to take video and photo evidence of damages at the time of the accident and will use them to help defend myself. In addition, I made sure the technician documented the water damage in the plumbers report.

I believe that a competent plumber would have understood of this risk while the work was being preformed, explained this risk to a homeowner, and provide an opportunity for the homeowner to accept the risk before beginning the work.

I hope this review helps other homeowners make their own decisions on whether or not they should choose Apex Plumbing & Sewer Inc. for plumbing services.

Mike and Miguel came out and replaced my P-Trap. They did an excellent job, they were very professional, cleaned up after themselves left no dirt behind at all. and got the job done in a timely manner. John Love (the plumber and owner) was on time, professional and very knowledgeable. We found him on Google bc of his good reviews- decided to give him a try- the reviews are accurate! John showed up on time, communication was clear throughout the process and he immediately found the old rotting pipe within the ceiling of our basement- it was very apparent he has a lot of experience working with older homes just like our 1916 Bungalow. He did a thorough job, kept the basement and work area spotless, even called the next day to make sure we were satisfied with his job. I was completely disappointed. Originally, appt was between 9.5 & 10 a.m. at 10:18 called establishment no answer but guy calls right back says otw.
After an hour I leave and guess who is there. Explained had to leave he gave me 2 cards and said to give a call when I'm ready for him to look at my sink.

So the person who fixed my urinal was of great help and did his job thoroughly. The business model for this company isn't very professional or honest. I was told it would be $250 to stop my urinal from leaking. Little did I know it takes 15 seconds to shut off the water.....charging $250 for that is excessive. I asked them to repair the urinal and he told me he waived the $250 fee since Im using them to fix my urinal. Apparently, it was only a tiny little gasket that needed to be replaced and that only took no more than 10 minutes. I thought that was great and assumed I would get a better rate considering they thought it could have been much worse where it was a job that would take a couple of hours.. I was completely wrong.....I was charged $450 to change a tiny gasket in my urinal that took a total of 10 minutes...won't be using their service anymore.
