Needed to have the finished basement bathroom rodded in my rental property. My usual plumber was unavailable and roto ropted was but they could not give me a general estimate over the phone for a rodding. Upon arrival the tech quoted me 900 to rod where as my usual plumber is 250-300. After they charged me a 100 diagnostic fee for coming out even tho I am aware of what the issue was and this was a temporary needed fix. Just out of curiosity I asked for an estimate on what my project repair would cost and they quoted me between 7-10k. My plumber who is licensed and bonded estimated 3k and gave the same break down. Extremely over priced and charged to do no actual labor. Would not recommend

I reached out to Vanguard to repair an old gas line in our backyard and install a natural gas grill connector. Jan from Vanguard responded promptly, asked for information and provided an estimate within a day. Once I accepted the estimate, we scheduled and since I was flexible on the timing, Jan kept me appraised of their earliest availability. The two gentlemen who came from Vanguard arrived on time, were polite and efficient. They explained what they needed to do, offered suggestions to make the gas outlet safer, and walked me through the safety protocols. They did a great job, cleaned up and I felt confident in the work that was performed. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience given my own lack of knowledge in this area. Thanks Vanguard!

Seems like this company is hit or miss. I called them to come out and do as assessment of my condo unit prior to renting it out and they were quick, seemingly thorough and it was free! They didn't find any issues in my unit - great. I called them the following week to assess a leak in the ceiling of the retail space below our building's units. I spoke to the owner on Saturday and discussed having someone come out to look at it Monday morning. As of Monday morning, I hadn't heard from anyone so I called around 10am to see what time frame I was looking at. Obviously no one was planned to come out, so they sent someone and they arrived within the hour. As they arrived, I was told by the crew that it would cost $285 for them to set up a ladder and remove 1 ceiling tile to be able to see where the leak is coming from. After that, I basically had to stalk the owner to send us an estimate for any work that would have to be done. We had him look at another item (booster pump) that needed to be removed and capped too, since I had already paid $285 to have someone there. They said the work was too commercial because it was copper pipes and said they would not do the job. Keep in mind their truck, sweatshirts, and website says residential AND commercial - AND FREE ESTIMATES. After hounding them down for a full day, the owner told me they do not want to take on the commercial part of the work. Then, I asked if there was a chance they would cut the drywall to find the source of the leak that they may decide the work is too commercial and refuse to do it. At that point, he suggested I find another plumber who does commercial and residential work to have the work done. So much for my $285 that I have nothing to show for...and no refund offered, obviously.

Long story short: if you have MINOR residential repairs or issues, they might be okay. But if you live in Chicago and it's anything related to a building issue, STEER CLEAR!

I did not understand why my colleagues insisted on this company when I needed referrals from them. It was until they took care of my concern last Wednesday when I believed that they are the best plumbers in the city.

Very happy with this company. I found them randomly through google after I found a random puddle of water on the floor around my toilet. They answered and sent someone out immediately. Greg called before he got to my house and was very nice, respectful, and understanding of my situation. He figured out the problem, fixed it quickly, and explained everything to me in simple terms.I am definitely going to use this company again, I highly recommend it!

Eduardo was an incredible find and I’d recommend his services to anyone in need. We first contacted him to find out the issue with our downstairs plumbing drain. He was impressively responsive, available and on-time. He isolated the problem and provided the fix in an incredibly time efficient manner. On top of that, the price is fantastic considering the level of professionalism and quality provided. When we had another issue with our ceiling getting water damage, we dialed him right away. Eduardo came THAT afternoon to take a look and was able to squeeze us into his busy schedule 2 days later to perform the work. He once again isolated the issue within minutes and knew how to fix it. We validated it was the root of the problem and he was able to complete the work in just about an hour. The icing on the cake is that he takes pride in his work and cleans up afterwards, leaving your place just as it was. The cherry on top is he is a genuinely nice person. We need more small businesses and local handymen around. I hope you’ll support Eduardo if you are ever in need like I have, twice.

$650 for a sewer rod that took them less than an HR to get done, and wanted to charge me over $1,000

Our basement ceiling was leaking. We called Plumbers 911 and they arrived within (24) hours and identified the problem. They explained in laymen's terms what repairs needed to be done, the time frame and cost. They did an excellent job and the post clean up was amazing.

Great service and qood quality

Very professional and helpful. I live out of state and was kept informed during the entire process. This was a complicated job because the piping is all over the place. I had several frozen pipes and a broken pipe. I would definitely hire them again.

Our basement flooding has been a nightmare. Eric did a damn good job! He worked fast, was very professional and reasonable!
