Our sewer drain backed up and they sent someone out within 45 minutes. Our technician was extremely professional, kind, and explanatory.

Charged me $400.00 to unclog a floor drain. I was leaving town the next day so I had no choice fearing flooding. There was about 1 gallon of water on the top of drain. Asked to flush toilet approx 5 feet away worked fine, not main service, Here about 1 hour found lint in drain. I googled floor drain cost average cost $150 to 200. Gave me some BS on a special deal that I may qualify for refunding $$$ spent if I left a good review. If you have time get estimates,

Norblom installed 2 replacement toilets in our house. Very professional work. We have a older home so some problem solving was needed. Very fair pricing and great work. Looking forward to working with Norblom in the future !

Update:Thought I would just look behind the dryer to see how they actually did and check the photo below to see what I found. I sure hope the electrical work we had done is better than this.Original:Be very careful with Bonfe. They canceled our appointments twice and made us return to the property a different day (costs us $80 each time we travel back).On our last call, we had a gas line installed for a dryer and the technician told us he could install our washer and dryer as well. Unfortunately we went for it and while it was hooked up just fine, they didn't actually level the washer and dryer. Didn't notice until after they left, so we called Bonfe to ask if they could come back out and level them. We were told that they don't install washer and dryers, they only hook them up. That's utterly ridicous for the amount of money you we paid.On top of that, we have one of their service plans that gets us 15% off of service. When we tried to cancel it, they told us that we'd have to pay back the 15% we saved on any of the service calls that we had under the contract. Unfortunately, that IS covered by their cancelation policy, so we'll have to keep paying for the remainder of the term.And be careful. They WILL try to have you get more things fixed. While this may seem like a kind thing to do, we don't feel it is always necessary. The only plus I can say about it is that when you say no, they let it drop and don't try to hard sell.Now, we do have to say that we feel the workmanship is great. We do like how they installed the gas line and how one of their electricians replaced our service panel and added new circuits.So, there are pluses, but there is no way we'll be using Bonfe services again. It's like a car dealership where you always fell you were taken advantage of when you leave.

UPDATED 6/28 (in response to owner): Eric emailed me, but never mentioned a resolution. He stated he would like to address the situation. Then, he would figure out the breakdowns and use it as a learning experience for his staff. I replied “Honestly, I feel like I’ve wasted enough of my time on this situation”. My original review provided all the info he needed, and it isn’t my responsibility to train his staff. Again, never an apology issued from anybody at the company. The owner doesn’t address why the problem wasn’t fixed on the original visit, why the tech didn’t show up on-time for second visit, or why I have to contact them for itemized billing. However, he did address the pricing which I stated I may have heard incorrectly. The $125 credit in no way is a resolution for these circumstances, as I was astonished that the company would charge me once more for an issue they should have resolved the first time. Lastly, this isn’t a “negative” review; it is an informative and accurate account of my dealings with said company. Remember, it is easy to bask in the glory of the sunshine (positive reviews), but it’s more vital of your actions when the darkness comes.

I decided to use a local company. Called Monday June 11th at 8:23am and left a message. Kenny from service called back within 5 minutes and setup an appointment for the following day. I might have misheard Kenny but I thought he said $125 for service call and $55 for each additional hour of service. The tech, Cole showed up the next day around 8:50am and I explained to him the standing water issue around the HVAC system in my mechanical room. I decided to service the entire air conditioning system to correct the issue. The unit ended up needing 3 lbs of refrigerant ($70/lb), and Cole was finished around 10am. Cole told me the final amount was $445 and I would receive an invoice via email. I should have questioned the pricing at that moment, but I figured I could review the invoice upon receipt for accuracy. I wandered downstairs to my mechanical room around 2:30pm and realized more standing water. I immediately called Kenny, which he said a service person could not come out until tomorrow morning at 7:30am. It wasn’t terribly warm out so I just figured I’d turn off the system. The next morning at 8:20am I called Erickson because the tech hadn’t shown up. Kenny told me the tech went to another job in Coon Rapids instead and should be there next. I told him I had to be somewhere at noon so it had to be before then. Cole showed up around 10:30am with no recollection of being at my house and of course no apology for inconvenience. I followed him down to the mechanical room and he removed the evaporator drain line and blew it clear of debris. He said that was your problem. I questioned him at that time as I thought he said he cleared the line the day before. He then proceeded to charge me another $125 service charge. After Cole left, I immediately called Kenny to dispute the charge. I was met with great defiance and absolutely no understanding. He said things similar to we don’t warranty our work and what do expect from us. He said it was a separate incident as it was the next day. I told him I called 4 hours after first service so I guess it is my problem they couldn’t get back out same day. He finally agreed to refund the second $125 service fee only after he told me how lucky I was to be getting any refund. The next day, I had to email Erickson because I still didn’t have an invoice. As you can see below their invoices have no detailed breakdown of charges. I again emailed Kenny to get an itemization, and he provided an email breakdown (labor 1.5 hours = $235 and 3lbs R-22 refrigerant = $210). The $235 is a little sketchy as it seems they charge $125 service call and $55 for every hour and then round up to the next closest full hour. Again, I might have misheard on the initial call but the tech was here from 8:50am-10am (credit card charge at 10:07am), so just over an hour.

I have never hired a plumber for anything before. And I've heard horror stories from people about their plumber experiences and pricing. So I was pleasantly surprised how quickly Dan was able to come out to my house - the day after we connected - to provide an estimate. He arrived on time (I received texts, letting me know he was en route, so I didn't have to sit around waiting during his 2-hour arrival window), and I walked him through my needs: repairing a water pipe and running a water line to my new refrigerator. He then prepared an estimate with three options, so I could see all that he recommended and choose what would work best for my preferences/budget. He got right to work and completed the task the same morning! He was friendly, explained everything to me, and was just a pleasure to have helping me through this project. I will absolutely hire Service Star Plumbing (and, specifically, Dan!) in the future.
