Friends, charging a “flat rate” and not disclosing costs is shady business.

We were charged over $600 for an hour and a half of work. The piece that was replaced was a ball valve. My wife was flustered and paid them. I called for an itemized listing of parts and labor. The response I received was condescending and evasive. I talked with 2 separate people and they stated “It’s standard business practice. We charge a flat rate.” When I kept asking them to tell me the cost of the part they avoided and said their supervisor would call me...that was over a week ago.

Since then, I called another professional plumber and asked for a blind bid. He quoted me $350 for the job.

If you want to be condescended and charged double, this is the company for you!

Jake the plumber is a great choice if you need any plumbing work. I would totally recommend Jake to anyone who needs a plumber. Fast and reasonable rates.

My plumber was very professional and efficient. He was also an extremely nice guy who did his job quickly and well. The problem was with Roto-Rooter's pricing. They charge by the job, not the hour. I was very clear with them that all I needed was a new washer on an old faucet unit that would be replaced during a remodel this fall. Despite receiving three preliminary calls and a visit to my house by a Roto-Rooter representative—still not sure what that was about—I got no pricing information beyond the $79 arrival fee. When the plumber arrived I was told that the job would cost $419! To be clear, that's $419 for a half-hour of labor, plus a 99 cent washer! And this is during regular weekday business hours! I told the plumber that his estimate was more than double what I'd ever paid for a similar job in the past. He pointed me to a discount coupon worth $100 and I had him do the job rather than pay the arrival fee and still have a leaky faucet. So, that's 5 big stars for my plumber, and an emphatic ZERO STARS for ROTO-ROOTER!!!

Awful value and very high rates. Toilet water shut off valve handle replaced for $130. The o-ring was broken off, allowing for water to run into the tank when shut all the way off. Paul replaced just the knob, the piece that holds the o-ring, and a new o-ring.
Paul checked in at 10:45 via text and checked out at 11:15 via text, and I had received that text at 11:10. $70 to show up and $50 per 15 mins, even if they are done before that the 15 mins is up. They also charge you for the time it takes for them to write up an invoice (not worth charging for, since it’s not part of the technical job).
Definitely not worth the value.

Find a better place on google that had more reviews, even better reviews, and is more at the top when you sort by top rated. I had an appointment for later in the day with a company that doesn’t charge for estimates or coming out, then Mike From Norblom called and said they could come right away. My mistake for accepting convenience.

I called and talked to Mike after my appointment to express my concern and his response was that they texted the cost information and then mentioned that a company that doesn’t charge for a estimate charges more to do the job.
I find a company that doesn’t charge for an estimate to be customer centric and not bottom line hungry.

Sort by top rated, then select the second one down. Free estimate. Don’t charge to come to your house. Customer centric. :)

The boiler had to be replaced I liked there was no hassle to get it replaced and Jordan did a good job

Brent did an awesome job with my water heater installation. He is very professional, does quality work, and is a friendly guy. I highly recommend him!

John was awesome. I called on a Friday and he was out on the next Thursday. It would have been even quicker but he had the unfortunate circumstance of losing his partner and beloved brother recently. He’s a great guy and is already working with another experienced plumber named Brian. They were courteous, knowledgeable and right on time. He could have plumbed my spigot like the last one but took the time to do it properly and more professionally. John also give me a quote before doing any work, so I knew exactly what the costs were going to be. John also explained what he was doing and why. They also cleaned up any mess that was made and left my basement as clean if not cleaner than they found it. I would not hesitate to call Stillwater Plumbing again when I have a plumbing need. With such a shortage of good plumbers around these days, it’s comforting knowing I can call on John and him and his partner will get the job done. Thank you for a job well done!

My biggest complaint is John Anderson did not decline the call when I told him what was wrong. Once he got here he stated he do not work on appliances and he classified a water softener as an appliance. He should have declined before taking the job since it was very obvious that he had no clue how to fix the softener and were not prepared to repair it.

John stated he would be arriving shortly after noon he arrived after four (after noon but not shortly)

He did not have me turn on the water to diagnose the problem he made an assumption it was an O-ring ( I think it was but not the one he thought)

He had me disassemble the water softener

He did not replace the O-ring you returned the same O-ring.

He needed help reassembling the unit I am not sure what he would have done if I was not there.

He was more interested in apparent low water pressure in the kitchen sink than fixing the leaking water softener.

And after all that he had the gall to charge a $150 service charge. That was a least part my fault since I did not ask about the fee. But I also think that fee is steep especially for the work or lack thereof he did not do. I don’t have a problem paying service fees but for what you did I would have expected a discount on that fee.

I LOVE Kelly Plumbing! We have used their services for the last 7 years at our home in Highland Park. We recently had to replace our water heater and Jody, their friendly office person, was able to squeeze us in this month. The guys are so friendly, easy to work with, and much cleaner than other companies we've used! I would highly recommend giving them a call!

Great job on a complicated replacement of old cast iron pipe. Friendly plumbers! Skilled, knowledgeable, and informative. I will use them again and recommend them to friends.

They were prompt, courteous and price was as advertised. They came out the same day I called and cleaned out my basement floor drain. There were no additional fees from what was advertised. I would use them again!

Chuck and Emile came out and helped unplug the sewer drain that was causing backups from our drains. They were very thorough and made sure the piped were completely flushed before leaving and helped instruct us what we can do to keep the pipes more clean so blocks don't happen again.

Such a great experience. The office calls you every hour during your time window to give you an idea when they will show up. My plumbing issue was complicated and this was my 4th person out. The plumber knew exactly what to do, who was in charge or what between me and my association and was kind enough to talk to both my realtor and my association to explain the situation so I didn't have to regurgitate the information and try to sort it out. Very professional and extremely knowledgeable. So happy I called them.

Jake was on time and VERY knowledgeable about the job he was about to do. He was clean and efficient and kept me informed on how the job was going.
