Best Faucet Installation in Anchorage AK
We had a new kitchen sink and faucet to install, and had no idea what to do. We hired Hogins Plumbing to do the work, which was high quality and most professional. They removed the old sink and faucet and installed the new one, and their service was friendly and exemplary. A+, would use again, would recommend!

All of our carbon monoxide monitor(s) went off at 3:00 a.m. last week. We immediately turned off all of the propane lines to the house. The next morning, we contacted AK Clearwater after a friend's referral. After detailing the problems, they immediately sent someone to our residence. After several minutes, the problem was solved - the original installer (NOT AK Clearwater - original installer had left the state) had not installed the correct orifice for propane. The proper orifice was subsequently installed, and we now feel safe in our home again. We are very pleased with their prompt response and professionalism. We'd highly recommend them to anyone needing mechanical work (either personal or professional).

There are three individuals I want to honor in my little quest to fix my piping in my place. First some backstory: house built in the late 70s-early 80s had the original copper on a specific run for domestic potable water and heating lines as well, all the pipes were run very close together which resulted in electrolysis over time (I'm surprised this issue hadn't popped up prior to my ownership of the place) and this year they decided they'd had enough and started springing pinhole leaks.
Enter Flow Star. First, I called and made an appointment and got Jared (technician #1) out, he quickly found and temporarily stopped the biggest (and I thought only) leak with a hose clamp and recommended that I replace the entire run of copper with PEX piping. I agreed and asked for a bid.
Next came Steve in the office, he sent over a bid and I thought it was competitive (I work with lots of HVAC vendors so I know that this bid was decently good, it was about $50-$100 more than one vendor but about $50-$100 less than another, so right in line). I told Steve I would take him up on this bid once I got back from a trip I was going to take shortly. I got back and asked him to update the bid as it had been more than 30 days since I got the bid and prices probably changed, sure enough they did but it was only a $75 or so change, so it was fine.
About a week before my appointment time Steve made a very tough phone call to me, he called and asked if we could reschedule my appointment about 5 days further down the line as there was a family (dad, mom, three kids) that had no hot water and needed a new hot water heater badly. I wasn't thrilled to let my pipes leak longer but there was no way I was gonna say no to that. I agreed and was very impressed that Steve was willing to make such a tough call on a customer's behalf.
Finally, Shawn (sp?) came through and replaced the run of copper, he did a great job while working around my setup and our belongings, worked fast and efficiently and got it done faster than I expected him to. He even cleaned up the job site of debris and mess that he didn't cause (extra drywall I'd torn out to make it easier to get at the problem areas) without complaint.
In summary, Jared, Steve and Shawn (sorry if I spelled your name wrong bud) went above and beyond for my plumbing misadventures:
- First they accurately and quickly diagnosing my problems and applying the appropriate fix while recommending a good permanent one. I want to emphasize they did this quickly and did a thorough temporary fix that didn't go into overtime, thus saving money.
- Second, the bid I received was competitive, clearly spelled out with good detail and organization and they made it easy to pay it using a e-check on their website. The phone call to reschedule on behalf of a customer in an emergency situation (health and safety) was also a difficult one to make and Steve advocated for his customer and his family, which I greatly respect.
- Finally, they came out to replace the piping in question to remove almost any chance of it leaking again in my lifetime (PEX is awesome) and finished faster than they anticipated. The technician was competent, friendly, knowledgeable about the subject matter and experienced (the fittings and layout were done well in my opinion). Cleaning up the site and removing debris, even though he didn't make the mess, is truly above and beyond.
Flow Star Plumbing and Heating is a great HVAC company and I look forward to working with them again in the future, and I think anyone reading this who is looking for quality work at a competitive price should seriously consider them.

I called Roy on a Friday morning and he was at my property within the hour. He did a great job and the price was well worth the service. I will be contacting him again for future projects and needs

Called over to fix the heat. Was very rude and creepy. Angry when he couldn't do the repairs he wanted to. Was supposed to come back the next day to change the filters. Never came back and never answered calls. Steer clear of this one.

Mason came out after hours and helped replace my gas valve for my stove. Came out quickly and got it all squared away!

While they were timely and were able to come out next day, the service we received was mediocre at best. We called because our plumbing had extremely low flow, and their first fix was to replace the two most expensive things that could possibly be the issue. When questioned about it afterwards their response was āwell itās better than it was beforeā when our kitchen sink is still barely above a trickle. Not to mention our house was left a disaster - they unscrewed our accordion door and left it unscrewed when they left, sprayed water everywhere (and on me) in the bathroom, and left wood splinters all over the floor where they were working to name a few. Aside from the poor work ethic, they were swearing up a storm, slamming doors, and Larry was apparently so distracted that he couldnāt remember which way was hot/cold or which direction a shower head was installed. All of this and we got a bill for over $1500. When we called to talk about this, the woman that answered the phone was extremely rude and arrogant - without asking any details, she immediately told us that what we were charged was fair and there was nothing to be discussed. I work in the service industry and understand that time spent on-site is time spent and sometimes the part you think is the issue turns out not to be, but to leave it at āitās better than it was beforeā is shameful. Hopefully it was just a bad day and other people donāt have this experience.

to be straight up and honest, these guys have a reputation for selling you stuff you don't need. had them go over to the house of more than one freind and tell them that the sky would fall if they did not replace their whole systems at the cost of thousands. in one case, it turned out to be a leaking dielectric gasket that was a total cost of about 50 cents and mayb1/2 hour labor. the system described here was only 4 or 5 years old and not even due for replacement!! this is a dishonest practice and a widespread reputation of these guys in the plumbing community of anchorage.
