I have never had a more stress free experience with a plumber until Kurdel at Flow Star updated my outdated valves and hoses for my bathroom sink. I literally called, scheduled an appointment and he got me in the soonest available appointment time he had. He was there when he said he’d be and was extremely professional. We had water from our kitchen sink leaking through the sealing of the downstairs bedroom. Turns out it was a defect during manufacturing of the pipes installed when the house was built. Kurdel was very knowledgeable and professional. He diagnosed the problem right away and got the pipes replaced very quickly with no more leaks. I would highly recommend Flow Star.

I had not used this contractor in the past nor did I know the owner, Kurdel, or any of the staff. However, Kurdel is extremely professional and honest. I would highly recommend him. He had come out to give an estimate on replacing 1 water heaters. We ended up hiring him to replace both of the heaters. His price was very competitive and slightly below another contractor that had given us an estimate. What impressed me most with Kurdel was how he resolved an issue. After installing one of the heaters, I noticed a rather large dent toward the bottom. As disappointed as we both were that his guys installed the unit with the damage, he was insistent on making it right and replace the unit at no cost. With absolutely no pressure from Kurdel, I ultimately decided to keep the damaged unit as it was cosmetic damage that didn't affect the warranty or life of the product. Kurdel and Flow Star Plumbing are competitively priced, filled with integrity and offer great value.

Heater went out at my house called them first thing in the morning and was notified that they will be at my house in a couple of hours. Showed up diagnosed my problem fixed within 2 hours no problem. They were very professional. Great pricing. Will use again.

He was the friendly, professional, timely manner and did beautiful work installing a new boiler! He said, “I’ll try my best.” And he did more than just a job. Just purchased a new home and a few months pass then the blower motor starts to hum. I put a claim in with my home warranty company and they dispatched Flow Star. Sean the service tech did his due diligence and confirmed my suspicions about the blower motor. He also checked the airflow at the registers and discovered we had a CO2 leak and because of that he wouldn’t be able to repair it and we were looking at a new furnace in our future. Sean was very polite and knowledgeable and even took time to tell us his back story and how happy he was to be working for a union company. Steve, the man behind the phone, was also very personable and took the time to answer all my questions and got us an invoice and on the schedule for the install very promptly! Joe (journeyman) and “Tini” (apprentice) arrived on time for install and were extremely personable and professional! Being a former sheet metal Union man myself I was very happy to find out this was a union company! I couldn’t be more pleased with Flow Star and will definitely recommend them for anybody’s HVAC needs and will definitely keep them top of my list for plumbing and heating needs!

First time using this company and I was very impressed. The technician called 30 minutes prior as requested, showed up on time, and repaired my leaking cold water line quickly. A far better experience than I’ve had with the “big name” heating and plumbing companies.

Very happy with their service, both on the phone, & with Tino (Tilo?), the service tech, who came out to replace a corroded copper line. Great company, good communication, knowledgable contractor, good prices. Really easy to work with. Replaced my boiler and water heater.

Flow Star was contracted by HSA Home Warranty Services to repair my boiler. Instead of repairing it, they diagnosed that it was unable to be salvaged, and that I needed to purchase a new boiler. They wanted to upsell me into a $12,000 new system. I was hesitant to do so, because I did not feel that I was given a satisfactory reason that it was not repairable. Instead of immediately taking their recommendation I went to a heating company that has great reputation for honesty in Anchorage for a 2nd opinion. The other company quickly evaluated the system, replaced a defective part, and for $600 had me back up and running again in 24 hours. They evaluated the reasons Flow Star claimed necessitated replacement and completely disagreed. After it had been repaired by another company, I asked Flow Star on the phone why they had recommended complete system replacement, when it could have been repaired. I was told that they knew it could be repaired, but they did not feel like the furnace would probably last more than a couple years anyway, so they wanted to just replace it so I wouldn't hold them responsible when it broke again in a couple years. I am very upset that this relevant information was not presented to me, or to HSA, as an option, in order for the homeowner and parties responsible for payment to make an educated decision. Though I do agree that the furnace is probably on its last legs, I also know that it is my right as homeowner to be given all the facts so I can make an informed decision regarding repair or replacement. I feel that Flow Star was only interested in making a sale of a new boiler, and that they dishonestly misrepresented the condition of the unit they were contracted to repair. This was not a decision they should have made unilaterally, and it was dishonest to misrepresent the condition of the malfunctioning boiler to me. I would never allow this company to work in my home again, and I will be spreading the word to my friends and colleagues. I was honestly shocked to see that they currently have 29 5-star Google reviews, and I looked through some of them. It was not a surprise to see that it appears that all the reviews here that mention boilers or furnaces show that a replacement was performed, and many water heater replacements as well. I would advise caution in accepting this company's advice to replace units, and always obtain a second opinion from a more reputable company first.

What started as price shopping at Lowe's, turned into a great experience with our new plumbing and heating service provider! I recently used Flow Star to repair my old furnace. Kurdel and his team were quick to diagnose the problem and most importantly locate the part needed for the repair. Definitely FIVE stars for Flow Star! I had two problems at two houses - a gas leak with my mom's boiler and a pin hole water leak inside my house walls. Both jobs done quickly and professionally with everything explained. Since the water leak was deep inside the wall, Jake even snapped a picture on his phone and showed me the problem. Hands down - THIS is the company to call! Thanks guys!

Hired them to delete some gas lines and fix a drain clog. Gas lines out great. Couldn't reach the drain clog with their snake, and said they were going to come back out and access the clog from a closer section of the pipe (it was at 12' down the pipe). I know that they don't typically do drain clogs but they had offered to finish the job. They never called to reschedule, so I called back and scheduled another appointment. Day of the appointment they were a no call, no show. I even called them that day and they never returned my call. Still using a slop bucket under my bathroom sink, 3 weeks after initial visit. Not a good look for a company that has a 5 star Google rating. Will not waste my time with them again. (Edit: They did tell me over the phone when I scheduled the second appointment that they don't normally do drains but that they would put me on their schedule anyway)

What a great experience! Kurdel was very professional. I had an electrical and plumbing problem with my furnace. Someone from one of the well-known companies came twice and was not able to fix the problem. A friend recommends Flow Star, I called and he showed up the next day. He took the time to explore, diagnose, and fix the problem.
He left the utility room cleaner then he met it.

Amazing and prompt service! Our heat went out over the weekend, and after calling multiple other services, they were the first shop able to send someone out on Sunday to get it fixed. Just wanted to share my experience with Flow Star. Kudos to the crew for coming to our aid to fix our leaking pipes. Their knowledge from owner to tech is awesome and it showed in their work. Even after miscommunication Cordel reach out and explained everything in a very patience and professional manner, he stayed clam even when my husband and I were flustered and irrigated. He worked with us and I'm glad I listened and gave them a chance to fix the issue. After being burned by other professional contractors our apprehension dissipated when owner and techs explained and completed their work. We will defiantly use them again in future, if needed. There are three individuals I want to honor in my little quest to fix my piping in my place. First some backstory: house built in the late 70s-early 80s had the original copper on a specific run for domestic potable water and heating lines as well, all the pipes were run very close together which resulted in electrolysis over time (I'm surprised this issue hadn't popped up prior to my ownership of the place) and this year they decided they'd had enough and started springing pinhole leaks.

Enter Flow Star. First, I called and made an appointment and got Jared (technician #1) out, he quickly found and temporarily stopped the biggest (and I thought only) leak with a hose clamp and recommended that I replace the entire run of copper with PEX piping. I agreed and asked for a bid.

Next came Steve in the office, he sent over a bid and I thought it was competitive (I work with lots of HVAC vendors so I know that this bid was decently good, it was about $50-$100 more than one vendor but about $50-$100 less than another, so right in line). I told Steve I would take him up on this bid once I got back from a trip I was going to take shortly. I got back and asked him to update the bid as it had been more than 30 days since I got the bid and prices probably changed, sure enough they did but it was only a $75 or so change, so it was fine.

About a week before my appointment time Steve made a very tough phone call to me, he called and asked if we could reschedule my appointment about 5 days further down the line as there was a family (dad, mom, three kids) that had no hot water and needed a new hot water heater badly. I wasn't thrilled to let my pipes leak longer but there was no way I was gonna say no to that. I agreed and was very impressed that Steve was willing to make such a tough call on a customer's behalf.

Finally, Shawn (sp?) came through and replaced the run of copper, he did a great job while working around my setup and our belongings, worked fast and efficiently and got it done faster than I expected him to. He even cleaned up the job site of debris and mess that he didn't cause (extra drywall I'd torn out to make it easier to get at the problem areas) without complaint.

In summary, Jared, Steve and Shawn (sorry if I spelled your name wrong bud) went above and beyond for my plumbing misadventures:

- First they accurately and quickly diagnosing my problems and applying the appropriate fix while recommending a good permanent one. I want to emphasize they did this quickly and did a thorough temporary fix that didn't go into overtime, thus saving money.
- Second, the bid I received was competitive, clearly spelled out with good detail and organization and they made it easy to pay it using a e-check on their website. The phone call to reschedule on behalf of a customer in an emergency situation (health and safety) was also a difficult one to make and Steve advocated for his customer and his family, which I greatly respect.
- Finally, they came out to replace the piping in question to remove almost any chance of it leaking again in my lifetime (PEX is awesome) and finished faster than they anticipated. The technician was competent, friendly, knowledgeable about the subject matter and experienced (the fittings and layout were done well in my opinion). Cleaning up the site and removing debris, even though he didn't make the mess, is truly above and beyond.

Flow Star Plumbing and Heating is a great HVAC company and I look forward to working with them again in the future, and I think anyone reading this who is looking for quality work at a competitive price should seriously consider them.

My disposal unit just up and quit on me, and they were able to come out and see what was wrong. It needed to be replaced (which happens) and they were prepared with a replacement unit. Tino was professional and friendly, very polite, and answered my questions as well as explaining his recommendations for making my kitchen sink's plumbing better. I can't think of a way their service would have been any better!

Kurdel and his team at FlowStar are always on time, courteous, do great work and really take the time to talk with you about what the issue is, how they are going to fix it and the pricing is really reasonable! First and foremost let me just start off by saying AMAZING, FANTASTIC, EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE ON TIME WORK!! As a brand new investment property owner I knew there would come a day where things would go south, And boy did they. I had an electrical issue that led to me needing a plumber. I was referred to Flow Star Plumbing by a good friend that had previous work done, and was extremely pleased with the outcome. I contacted the owner Kurdel on Friday and he was able to come over within hour’s of me calling. He resolved all issues the same day and the price was extremely affordable I was impressed. The very following day another issue arises, completely separate from the previous work that was completed. Kurdel came out on a Saturday morning and immediately identified the issue. He started the work that same day and let me know that he would be back mid week to continue the job and bring to completion by week end. I am sooooo stoked and pleased with the outcome of all that was repaired!! In the future if I ever need a plumber or I can refer to anyone, Flow Star Plumbing is guaranteed at the top of my list!!

The first time we used Flow Star, we were impressed with the professionalism, courtesy, and expertise of this company and especially our service provider, Jared. The second time we called, we had an emergency: no heat on Sunday morning. Someone came out, said he thought we needed to clear the snow from the roof vent, then told us he didn't do that. We were charged $375.00 for an opinion of what the problem might be, and left in the cold. I will NOT use this company again.

These guys are absolutely amazing, they’re extremely responsive and professional. Prices are great and they don’t try to upcharge or fix things that don’t need fixing.
I’m a landlord with multiple properties in south central alaska and Flow Star will be my first call for anything water related in the future. Can’t say enough good things!

It was disturbing to discover a burst pipe and corroded/stuck water main valve in the crawlspace on Sunday afternoon. After controlling the leak somewhat, I researched local plumbers and called two: Flow Star and Blake's. Steve from Flow Star answered my call and told me to call back on Monday morning to schedule an appointment. I left a message with Blake's. When I called Steve back on Monday morning, he advised me to call AWWU to shut down the water and once that happened, he could send somebody out. I was shocked that AWWU was able to shut my water off within 30 minutes after I called them! I was even more shocked that Flow Star was able to fix the leaking pipe and replace the water main valve by 2pm that day! I've found my go-to plumber...I never heard from Blake's.

We can't say enough good things about our experience with Flow Star! Kurdel was fantastic to work with right out of the gates. Having used to work in construction and property management myself, I have had to work closely with numerous contractors and tradesmen, I can say with confidence that Kurdel is one of the best. We contacted him on a Friday afternoon (I called several contractors and he was the first and turns out only to call me back) He was able to look at the pictures I sent him and give me an estimate over the phone and schedule the service for the very next day. He showed up on time and prepared to get straight to work and knocked out the demo and installation without any issues, he also made the necessary upgrades to get us up to code since our existing unit was 30 years old. Kurdel texted me that night to make sure that things were running smoothly and reminded to to adjust the temperature to our liking. He followed up with me again today (Monday) to make sure that we hadn't run into any issues. Kurdel's communication is Top Notch!! We have definitely found our contractor for any future plumbing at our home or business and we will be sure to refer him to all our friends!!

He gave us a very reasonable quote for what we needed fixed and was able to make the repairs in the same visit. I got a quote from another company here in town for over double what Flow Star quoted me. He even checked a blockage I had in my laundry room drain for no additional cost. Flow Star is the best!! Very responsive and professional. An earthquake broke my water heater and it was flooding my garage, I called Monday morning and someone came out that afternoon to replace the entire unit. The service is unbeatable, and the staff really hustle to get parts even when they're discontinued or unavailable without making you wait or having to come back numerous times. This is the second time they've come through the same day to resolve an issue. I won't use anyone else.

My 25 year old furnace stopped working this winter, I called numerous contractors in town and chose Flow Star Plumbing and Heating to do the furnace replacement. They answered the phone when I called and had someone come out and quote it the same day. They let me pick out the furnace I wanted, matching what was existing, and completed the install that same week. They were very transparent with what I would need and quoted the job accurately. Their price was in the same ballpark as the other contractors, but the service they provided went above and beyond my expectations. They did not change order or adjust pricing. They honored the pricing initially given even though the scope did increase a little to include the replacement of an additional electric unit heater located in the Furnace closet. I strongly recommend using Flowstar Plumbing and Heating for all plumbing and HVAC needs.

I arrived home yesterday from the store to find my water heater literally busting at the seams (spraying straight out of a nail and over flowing). After being told by another company they wouldn't come out till the next day, I was assigned Flow Star by my home warranty company.
They were out here in less than an hour. And immediately told me I would need a new heater (which I had highly suspected). Tino explained to me what he thought the underlying cause of the issue was.
On the spot they asked me if I wanted it replaced that day, submitted a quote to my insurance company, and got a new one delivered.
Tino did a great job with installation and took the time to explain the pilot afterwards.

Flow Star plumber Tino Unga installed our new water heater yesterday. It has probably been well over a decade since my husband and I have seen Tino's level of professionalism and courtesy! What an absolutely outstanding young man! It was literally our privilege to have such an amazing young man provide services for us.
Tino took the time to show us how everything worked, pointed out everything he did and explained in detail how the sensor light worked. He cleaned everything up where he was working as well. Service like this is so rare anymore that it literally took my husband and I by surprise.

I called this company for a leaky faucet. Which should be a simple repair. They got me in right away, but what they did not tell me is they were gonna charge me for drive time, and they also did not explain any pricing before he got started or when they called me to give me the time they would be coming. I realize there should be a 1 hour minimum. But when it takes you only 15 minutes to drive to my house and 10 Minutes to Fix the Leaky Faucet and Charge me 1.5 hrs, which is $165 an hr so $277 for a leaky faucet. They need to tell customers. They are unprofessional. They even replaced parts my husband had already replaced but he did not tell me what he was going to do and just did it. I could have said something. So basically not good communication with this company.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Flow Star Plumbing and Heating and they were informative, professional and competitively priced. I was given several install options for what I needed and was able to end up with a solution that worked for my budget. Will be doing business with them again in the near future.

These guys were great, They really went the extra mile and helping us get the best deal. STEVE, hope this find that there was a warranty available for the water tank and help us get the water tank at no charge to us. This is the second time we have use flow and as a business professional, I would say that they are the best in town

I just had Jared and Timo do a two day install on a heating system and they were great. I haven’t seen a couple of harder working guys in a long time. In this post-COVID day of companies generally not caring about customers Flow Star was a breath of fresh air for good price, on time, hard working reliability. I would use them for everything plumbing related.

Kurdell @ Flow Star provided stellar service. He was able to get us in quickly, complete the water removal and install a sump pump within 24 hours of reaching out to him. He communicated with me throughout the process. He even sent pictures and video of the repair since I was out of town. I will definitely be using & recommending Flow Star for my future plumbing and heating needs.

A couple of things:
1. They call you back when you leave a message!
2. They show up when they say they will (and call before)!
3. Work is done well and for a reasonable price.
4. They have some interesting tools for copper work... I wish I could justify the price to buy one!

It's unfortunate I have to bring up points #1 and #2 but it's Alaska...

I appreciate good service especially plumbing. I was scheduled quickly, I had 3 issues zone valve out, leaky shower valve and a cracked elbow on my heating element. Jared was prompt had all of the parts, very courteous and quick. He also fixed a power head and auto vent. I’ll definitely call Flow Star again. It was 1/3 less than I estimated, I’m a pleased customer.

My kitchen sink was leaking so called Flow Star. They got me in the same day which I really appreciated. They ended up having to replace the faucet and everything is good as new. Thanks Flow Star for your fast friendly service!

They came out for a free evaluation the same day I placed the call, and I received an estimate for a replacement water heater installation within 48hrs, with a full breakdown of the price. I was able to schedule to have my water heater replaced within the week, and they were in and out in about 3 hours without a hitch. Great job!

The company responded the same day. Matini showed up and took care my boiler repair the same day and provided great service. Great customer service skills! I used them through a home warranty service and they responded quickly to take care of my emergency. I will definitely call on them again in the future. Thanks Flow Star!

Very fast response I called them at morning, by afternoon they called and send someone to fix the problem. Jake is very professional, knowledgeable and polite, also the price is reasonable i will call them back again next time

I requested a quote through Lowe's and was please to schedule the visit for the next day. The owner came to provide the quote. He was very patient to explain what would be done and answered all the questions I had. The quote came in as promised first thing the next day and with itemized details. I was able to have my electric hot water heater installed a few hours after I finished the Lowe's paperwork online. From the quote to the installation, it was only about 24 hours. And the price is very reasonable. Much lower than another quote by another local business. I have to say - great satisfaction from start to finish!

Fast forward a year...

I notice there is a minor leak from the pipes above the hot water heater recently. It is just a few days passed the full year since the installation. I contacted the owner about the issue. A technician called to schedule the service in two hours and came to address the issue later that day. The service was performed professionally with no additional cost for me. The same technician has to come back for the follow up job later. He was very accommodating to my schedule. I had some questions after the follow-up service. The owner returned my call right away after he received my text.

I really appreciate the timely and professional customer service. They provide very reasonable priced and wonderful service. I will definitely have them for my future plumbing needs

Called at 8am and the hwh was replaced by 5. Tino and Shawn did a great job. Friendly and professional. Thanks!

Flow Star is now my go to company for heating and plumbing services.
First I needed a plumber, but everyone I called couldn't come out for a couple of weeks, or not at all. I called Flow Star and they sent someone that day to fix the plumbing issue we had. The service was great. Professional, courteous, on-time, quick but all quality work...all the attributes one would hope for.
So I decided to call them back to service my furnace. Again I was very impressed with the level of service. They are definitely doing it right. Very honest and trustworthy. I'm glad I found them.

Called them after having lost faith in Anchorage Plumbing (horrible service and communication). Flow Star was quick and had someone out to install a new hot water heater the next day (after 5 days without hot water) based on pics I sent them!! They also processed a warranty refund for me!! Used them again at the office and they were just as quick and professional.

The Flostar team is responsive, reliable, professional, timely and trustworthy. They are knowledgeable and proficient - their expert mastery of their trade is evidenced by the quality of their work! Highly recommend!

Sean did an awesome job installing baseboard heating vents. Great customer service and communication. I haven’t had covers on them for a while and dreaded doing them myself. My place looks so much better with them and I’m glad I went with having them professionally installed!

I don't know where to start because I am beyond GRATEFUL for the whole staff at Flow Star Plumbing Heating. Warn you it might be a bit emotional for me. I will try to make this short. My water heater went out same day my ol man passed, felt like it could not be a worse time to go out. It was after hours so I called Steve the next day who was extremely professional, told him my situation and advised me to contact the Owner Mr. Kurdel. Talking to Mr. Kurdel and immediately felt like family and NOT a business transaction. With the holidays right around the corner he wanted to make sure i had hot water for Christmas. Steve dispatched Tini and installed it the next day!!! Tini on time, super quick, and very knowledgeable at his job. I could go on and on and on. Kurdel takes care of the community, and I just can't express my LOVE for this company. He selected me as one of the people to give back too. When I called Flow Star I got in touch with the owner/plumber Kurdel. I told him the issue I was having and after requesting the brand of my hot water heater, he knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. Within a couple hours he was at my home and repairing the issue. While he was at my home, he showed me precisely the problem with the hot water heater, a couple options to fix the issue, and had it completed within an hour. He was easy to converse with, personable, and professional. I will call him again in the future for anything plumbing related!
