Earthquake Aftermath - I was without heat and hot water, Brandon Lowe showed up on Monday, Dec. 3rd and apologized for the wait. I said what wait, I did not think they would get to me until Thursday...What a great surprise! I found Brandon, quick, efficient, polite and knowledgeable. Thank you Brandon for taking the time to explain what was replaced and to go above and beyond. So I am updating my review and I hope you read it if you're looking for a Plumbing, Heating, HVAC business in Alaska.
I have been using Extreme for all my projects for 5 years. They have come out and responded to 5 water leaks and most recently, a complete overhaul and replacement of my boiler system to forced air.
During this remodel project, Shane, Nick, Aaron, and Cole were instrumental in producing a high quality product, given extreme (pun intended) circumstances and adversity.
I will NEVER call anyone else to work on my house, ever. I highly suggest you call these guys and experience what real workmanship, professionalism, and care looks like.
I have never been treated with anything less than the highest level of respect, dignity, and decency from this business.

Our furnace went totally out during our recent cold spell. After trying several Heating and air companies that would not tell us how soon they could respond, I started reading reviews and talking to neighbors and friends and called Extreme Heat and Air in Eagle River. The receptionist was cordial and stated that she would have the Manager call us and she stated she would put us on the No Heat list. To our surprise Cody, an Extreme Heat Tech called within the hour and said he was on the way. This young man was very well versed in his trade, trouble shot the problem and repaired our furnace in record time. Cody was extremely respectful, very accommodating, and a great representative for Extreme Heating and Air Inc. This will be our company of choice for our heating system from this point on and we would recommend them to anyone.

The heat was out they got here VERY quickly and had the part to fix it with him and in a few minutes the heat was back up and running

Easy to contact, set an appointment right away, showed up when they said they would and were efficient and thorough. I was sent a good report and invoice, and was happy about what I paid and what I got. Good to deal with.
We have used Extreme several times before and recently used them again for issues with our water heater. They were booked up but said they would get out as soon as possible to look at it. Matt, one of the technicians came out and diagnosed the problem quickly. He found some other valid issues, offered some suggestions while he was there. He was awesome and took care of them right then. He ordered a new water heater and Tyler came out two days early to install it. These guys are great and really know their stuff. Like Matt, Tyler was friendly, professional and meticulous. He got us up and running in no time and the bill was very fair. We highly recommend these folks to anyone who wants great service or repair to their heating, air conditioning or plumbing issues.

I recently had the privilege of doing business with Extreme Heating and Air. They installed central air conditioning, an air scrubber, and a new thermostat. From beginning to end, this company is a class act.
My dealings began with a walk-thru, which was scheduled and completed promptly. After the walk-thru, all of my questions had been answered, and I had complete peace of mind that my house and I were in good hands. As promised, the estimate arrived within a couple of days, and it was clear, thorough, and did not include price gouging. As I contemplated the future work, I had several questions. Each time I called, my questions were answered by Shane or Thomas who are knowledgeable, professional, and patient. The day of installation lasted 12 1/2 hours, and every person involved was skilled, kind, and laser-focused on doing their jobs well. I was given a complete tutorial of everything, and any new questions were answered. There was a minor accident in which an HDMI cable was cut in half as it was in an abnormal area. I alerted Extreme Heating and Air, who took full responsibility for the mishap, apologized, and expeditiously paid the bill to have it repaired. Finally, another walk-thru was scheduled to make sure that everything was working properly, that I was happy and that I did not have any new questions.
Unbelievable just how professional this company is. They made me feel like a valued customer, and I would use them in a heartbeat in the future. Thank you, Shane, and everyone at Extreme Heating and Air for a job well done.
I had a pipe burst in a very difficult to reach place on a Sunday. Ryan was able to get to us in a few short hours and fix the leak. Water and heat were only off for a short time and my kids didn't even notice.

This is my 2 of 3 (already set for another job). I chose Extreme Heating and Air for this work based on the qualities I expirenced on a small job (replacing dieelectric coupler and boiler check-up/cleaning). Yesterday, Cody restored (my in house well water connection and replaced a well back flow valve) after being turned off for a few years.
Excellent service by the technician! In our discussion he learned I was retired military and applied a mil discount at billing & thanked me for my service too (without me asking)!
OK, (edited review) so the other job ...I booked was MUCH larger and involved installing radiant in-floor The Friday prior to my job starting on a Monday (3-4 weeks waiting after accepting bid) I follow up with Extreme and someone had quit and my job would be delayed. I was told they would contact me to re-bid (Warning Sign I missed BTW). Weeks later no contact. I sent a reply to my bid and their response was that can't do my job/hadn't hired a replacement yet.
They wasted 6 weeks+ of my time. Now in the twilight of the Alaska building season a private person needs to reschedual concrete pours and the rest of my (private person NOT a contractor) job. (Before, I hope the freezing temps).
In a nutshell the techs, phone, counter staff = Great. The people that let me/my project down... not so much.
Do NOT trust a large project to them!
Bring the Heat ...maybe if your a big contactor with multiple builds. For the little guy... they left me in the cold.

I had my garage unit heater serviced due to the pilot light not lighting/keeping lit. Extreme heating came out, were on-time, and did a thorough job of fixing the issue. My technician was thorough, honest, and took his time to ensure the problem was fixed (by cycling the heater) before he left. He also noticed that the air filters on my furnace were in dire need of replacement and replaced them free of charge. This company is very honest in their pricing, their service and ethics. I was very impressed with everything and will be calling them again.

I called Extreme to fix a tough shower problem late Saturday night. Grant came within 45 minutes with a friendly smile and got right to work. He fixed the issue in less time than what I was expecting, and charged less than what I paid competitors in the past. Based upon this experience I had with Extreme, I am now going to have them do all my plumbing needs, including my annual water heater and furnace service. If you want fast, friendly, professional work done at reasonable prices, go with Extreme. I highly recommend Grant.
These guys are fantastic! I called for a quote on Tuesday to see about getting some heat in a room over my garage that had no heat to it. Shane came out at noon on Thursday to see what could be done. Had his guys out by 1:00 that same day to install a new heat duct from the crawlspace to the second floor. Heat was flowing by 5:30 that same day! They did amazing work and for a very fair price. I inquired in January about a new water heater, received the generated response that someone would contact me, and no one did. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, so I would still recommend them.
I appears the technician changed the temperature on our hot water heater, which resulted in a much hotter shower than expected.
From a timely, thorough and competitive estimate to a timely and professional installation of a non-standard HVAC unit (hybrid electric heat pump hot water heater) involving some additional on-site problem-solving, Extreme did great work in completing this project with the electrical work very professionally accomplished by 907 Electric.

If you have an appointment with them, be prepared for them to just show up when they please. Had an appointment, was informed 5 minutes before my appointment time that he (Matt) would be 2 HOURS late. Are you kidding me, send someone else then, I have a job like everyone else that I need to get back to. Nope, so I waited for 3 hours before giving up and heading back to work because I had to pick up my kids..in route, Matt calls and wants to come now 3 hours and 15 minutes passed the appointment time. Tried to call their office 6 times, finally I get an answer and told I'm sorry, the manager is helping another customer and he will call you back very shortly. Never received a call back. I have a job in customer service and if I did that to my customers, my butt would be in hot water. Worse than the cable company...we will be there between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. Do yourself a favor and save the hassle and hire someone else who is more dependable. I hired them initially by the good reviews here...so I didn't expect this kind of treatment at all and even to a military servicemember. Thanks for wasting 3.5 hours of my day, my time is precious too you know.
UPDATE: I received a call from their office at 4:15 p.m. apologizing and wanting to reschedule...more than 4 hours after my appointment. Why in the hell would I want to do that so you can waste more of my time. I waited 2 days for my appointment...and now had to hire another company but cant get out for 4 days. So, them not showing up made me deal with my furnace issue for 6 days. Save yourself the hassle folks!

I used this company to repair a leaky valve at the washing machine connection. It wouldn't turn off even when off. They arrived early and were very communicative. Graham had to cut through the dry wall, cut the pipe, replace the valve entirely and solder to fox the problem. I was expecting a much larger bill than was handed. I just moved here from out of state and have lived all over the West Coast. The price was very fair. Will use again for any similar needs in the future.

Extreme Heating recently installed a Modine 100KBTU forced air heater in our workshop as a replacement for an older, unserviceable unit. Our experience with EH was excellent. The communication with the front office was professional and friendly, the service technicians were on time and knowledgeable, and the price was very reasonable. During the earthquake that occurred on Friday Nov 30 my house had a water leak that was breaching the bedroom behind my boiler and also leaking water into my garage. Extreme Heating (Shane) took my information and dispatched a plumber to fix our problem. The day must have been hectic to be a plumber, but I was glad I found Extreme Heating. I was reading some positive comments on here before, I call them up.
My furnace gave up on me during the last couple of days of extremely cold winter days. I called them up on 4/8/21 to come to fix the furnace. The first day the technician, show up and check to see what is wrong. He told me that my ignitor is broken, he doesn't have that part in hand which is understandable. I gave him the okay to order the part. At this point, I have already been bill for the inspection. which I gladly pay for.
A couple of days later technician shows up with the ignitor and replace it, furnace still not working. Now I was told that the Mainboard is fry also, again I give the okay to order part too. Again a couple of days later, the technician show up and swap the mainboard and it still not working. The new board also makes the same noise and light indicate as the old board. At this point, the technician said they don't usually work on this kind of furnace.
I asked how much I owe them now and he shows me the bill, around 500 plus at this point. But nothing is being fixed. So the technician, point out that my exhaust fan is also broken and needs a new part also. He take out the exhaust fan part and looked at it. I give him the okay to order a new part too, but the technician never returns again. Now is 4/26/21 my furnace still not put together, parts laying everywhere. No call follow-up or anything.
This technician can not pinpoint the problem at all but taking a wild guess making you paid for all the parts until is fixed. Very poor job on this company. What I learn in all of this is to never have high expectations of Extreme Heating and Air Inc. just because of some positive reviews.
I will not suggest this company to anyone base on my experience.

Matt Akeson from Extreme Heating & Air, worked on my water heater today. Matt did a great job! Resolving a leaking pipe issue! Matt was friendly and professional and fixed the problem very quickly. Additionally, Matt took measurements & pictures of a rusty sink in my guest bathroom to prepare a quote for the work required to install a new sink and replace the PVC plumbing underneath. Extreme Heating & Air does it all! They installed and serviced most of my appliances; new water heater, new dishwasher, new garbage disposal unit, serviced my existing gas furnace and installed a new gas line for a new double convection stove! Thanks for another great job!

Developed a leak in the hot water pipe. We were able to isolate it with a valve shutoff. Called company at 8 am and had an appointment for that afternoon. Tech was running about 3 hours ahead of schedule. Found issue and replaced broken pipe in a fair amount of time.

Took my dad standing there on the second visit to get the tech to fix the problem. 10
After the first visit, I was fairly certain it wasn't fixed and the tech tried to convince me it was.
After the tech left, on the second visit, my dad had to take out the glass and reset the logs so that the pilot light would light correctly.
UPDATE: I wasn't concerned that the tech had to leave to get a part. It was that AFTER the first service call, he didn't believe me that it wasn't fixed, and I had to try MANY things before he would believe it wasn't fixed, and I scheduled a second service call.
AND you'll note that I mentioned above that AFTER THE TECH LEFT the SECOND call in which theoretically he had fixed things, THE LOGS were installed incorrectly and my dad had to disassemble the fireplace to fix so that the pilot would light.
I literally planned to have a my dad there with him, because I suspected that I as a woman, would again not be believed that it was broken.
Removing a star for the lack productive in the response from company.

I am extremely happy about this company, from the first phone call to the end, they have been nothing but, considerate and kind to us. Had called to get an estimate on a new furnace after a nightmare of a previous company tried to scam us. They came out and called me with an estimate on how much it would cost to completely replace it with it being a Friday. He also said that they could come out the next day and the labor price would be if it would have been a weekday because of this giant headache we have been dealing with. I said lets do it and he said that he would get everything ready and they would be out there the next morning. They came out, were very considerate of not tracking snow/ice thoughout my home and went through about what they were going to do. They were more then happy to intergrate the new furnace with the old ducting and said that it was something they did everyday. I was just expecting to get a new furnace, instead I got a new furnace, and new thermostat, and a filter that filtered out all the acidic material from the water coming out of the furnace so that it wouldn't kill my pipes, for the price i was quoted. After they were done, they then walked me through everything they did and showed me how to use/program my new thermostat. Would call them again in a heartbeat if i had anything else that needed to be done. Very easy to work with and fast at what they do.

Ive used them for years and have noticed that once they got big the quality greatly diminished. I've had them tell clients a 3 year old boiler needs replaced when 3 other second opinions disagree, They have bid to replace a hot water heater then are not be able to install a new one because they failed to measure properly AFTER everything was ripped out. They installed my entire system in 2017 for nearly $20,000. 2 years later their service tech told me it was installed improperly not knowing they did it. They broke a major component of my boiler while servicing it then charged me for it, then the warranty work on a hot water heater turned into them forgetting to tighten a pipe resulting in water damage for 3 days. Which I found when I showed up to clean up their trash from outside my mechanical room and in my lawn. To top it all off. They sent an invoice to a wrong e-mail and address last march. Which I never received. So instead of calling me, they sent it to collections after 11 months. When I asked why they just didn't call my number on the invoice. The billing lady (Carrie) said they are too busy to do that. After years of issues and countless complains from me and friends. I will not be using them every again. Even for warranty work likely needed.
We just had our old furnace replaced by Extreme Heating and Air, Eagle River, AK -- yesterday, in fact! The whole process was nothing but a pleasure and a good deal. We sent a query online, and Shane called us within 5 minutes. Super quick! He came out the next day and gave us a quote that, after our checking around, was a good price and we accepted. He let us pick the time to install (we had other things going on). On that day Paul came out and was stellar in his work. Installation involved removing all the 30+ year-old furnace and ductwork and humidifier, etc. and installing all new sheet metal and furnace and everything. Communication all along was super. This was company was GREAT! It was a pleasure and so easy to deal with them. AAA+ in our book, and we would use them again and recommend them to friends.

Great Service, Great Value!! Aaron and the installation team could not have possibly done a better job. The new furnace was installed to a much higher standard than the previous, original, furnace. With no small effort, in the process of installation, they improved the duct work, as well. I cannot speak highly enough about this organization. Jacob called half an hour before the appointment to check in, showed up ten minutes later and got to work. He cleaned and flushed the boiler system, checked for leaks and went over things with me. Will be calling them again if needed

Professional, friendly & skilled service from Matt for boiler repair, with reasonable rate, timely arrival & speedy fix. He was very patient & knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining boiler functions I did not understand. Highly recommend! I've been through Anchorage Plumbing and Heating (RALPH!!), and Mountain Mechanical before finding Extreme and I will NEVER go back!! Grant was super knowledgeable and friendly. I called and they just happened to be getting done early on another job and were able to come out right away. They also fixed my leaking pipe quickly and super efficiently, pretty much in and put. It's been a couple of weeks now and everything is great. Grant also gave me a super general but helpful idea of my next steps since I was water and mold that needed to be remediated. 12/10 will recommend!
A connection they replaced leaked, but they came back within a couple of hours of calling about it to fix it. And they did with no additional charge. Pleased with service and personnel.

HRV Install - No BS, Good Work
I had an HRV installed to bring fresh air into the house without wasting the heat from the house.
This company is very good. Their install process was efficient and they don't waste resources. I was very impressed at how they use employees with differing skill sets, and have them show up just in time to take the project to the next phase.
I recommend Shane and Extreme Heating. Their work was professional and they delivered what I was expecting. I don't give everyone a high review, so when I say that I recommend this company, I do so without reservations.
I cannot possibly say enough good things about this company. This is our second time doing business with them and they go above and beyond!
I was in a desperate situation with water everywhere and Thomas came over in aprox 10 minutes to evaluate the situation and help me! The same evening Ryan came to replace the damaged piece of equipment. That is quality service and customer service right there!

Needed basic yearly maintenance on our furnace and water heater. They were prompt at getting me an appointment. Grant showed up on time, explained what he had done, and the cost was definitely reasonable!
Just had these guys do an re-install of bathroom fan/duct work. Awesome job! The install was quick, smooth, and in line with quote. The tech went above and beyond and answered my 1 million questions about HVAC / heating systems in general. Friendly and great attention to detail.

We just had Extreme heating come out to our house and instal a new furnace and hot water heater. They we’re awesome! Three guys working all day and didn’t leave until he job was done. They were respectful of our house, and had a competitive price for the job. I would recommend them if you have HVAC needs.

Call them to get my heating checked. They only had after hours appoitments which means $70 more but they dont tell you till the bill comes.
First day couldn't fix the problem. Second day charge again to install a part. Total almost$700.
If you charge the first day for nothing the second time should be just charge for the part.

I had to pay an emergency call at midnight last thursday after a pipe burst in my house. The water rapidly made a wading pool. I called a couple of emergency plumbers and they were tied up. I turned off my water and heater to stop the flood. When i got a hold of extreme heating the call was answered politely, he stated the rates, and said he was in wasilla on a job but would be ther in 1 hour. Exactly 1 hour later he was there. Accessed the situation, est. the time it would take, and went to work. I would highly recommend this plumbing company. He was knowledgable and made sure my heating system was kicking in for the 3 areas it had to cover. I have gone on to have my 37 year old furnace and water heater replaced. They did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this company.

Great service. No problem getting them back almost immediately for a fitting failure. Professional service all the way.
After a few very frustrating visits, some communication issues I have heat and hot water. This review would have been much different had Extreme Heating not gone the extra mile!
In the end they absolutely did right by me.
Their technicians were professional and were very nice considering they were dealing with a frustrated customer.
For the amount of work they did their price was very fair!
I have to used them for quiet a few years and am happy to say that I would still recommend recommend them.

The pressure relief valve went faulty in our household in May 2022 and began leaking water throughout the garage. After contacting Extreme Heating and Air, a service tech. was sent out to our location to fix the valve. The total cost was $218.75
Shortly after the issue was fixed, the water heater began to leak throughout the garage in June 2022. I contacted Extreme Heating, and Air talked to a representative and asked if a tech could come out and have the service covered under some warranty. She said, that's not my call, and a manager would reach out to me.
I awaited the call for two weeks until I called again and said I would attend military training in June-September and that my availability was short. Once again, the service rep. noted that a manager would contact me. I stressed that it would have to be made within a couple of days due to my departure. I was told, Almost impossible due to the short timeline. After awaiting a call, no service manager reached out.
Fast forward until October, when I finally had some time to be home for the repair, and I reached out again to get this issue fixed. Once again, no callback.
I contacted Extreme Heating and Air two days ago with my final attempt. This time I talked to the service rep. Manager. And told him about the issue. He said nothing could be done because the repair was not out of the warranty window (3 Months). I then asked if this could be escalated to find a justifiable conclusion. He stated, I'm the manager, this is as far as it goes In addition, I asked him if there was proof of my previous calls, and he said that no calls were logged and that the only one was from May.
I'm upset with how this situation was handled. Other businesses specialize in this sector that service the Anchorage and Eagle River area. Although this company has positive reviews, if you should find yourself in a situation where a project has to be redone, then you will be in for a beating. Highly advise resourcing services to another company.
I had a plumbing problem and they were very quick to respond. The two technicians that they sent were very professional. It took them no time to figure out the problem and the repair was speedy. I was very comfortable to have them in my home. Their price was extremely reasonable and the service was outstanding.

I would like to acknowledge Extreme Heating and Air Inc for outstanding jobs. We have had only good experiences with this company. They have a top quality highly trained work force. They are very respectful of our environment as they get their work completed. We have had them fix a leaky drain for a second floor shower, install a new furnace, fix a hot water heater as well as add extra water spigot to the outside. I am glad this company is located in Eagle River.
