Frank and his team were excellent. In short, tried to fix problem myself and caused shower valve to spray water in walls and forced to turn water off. Frank came quickly within an hour and determined was small valve piece that needed to be replaced. He then drove to Watertown and back (Dorchester) to get piece (happened to be a rare unique brand), quickly installed and fixed my mess. Was very good, professional and super reasonable, will def use again! Thank you Frank!

Old gas dryer broke, needed a new one installed. Tried calling a number of other plumbers and many of them were unresponsive, had high quotes (or ridiculous $125 service fee to have them come out for the quote), or no available slots for weeks.

From the get go Frank was awesome — quick to respond (answered first time I called), great quote (total price was lower end of quote), and scheduled for the next day. Day of, he called because he was running EARLY and came quickly. Installed the new gas dryer no problem, made sure everything was hooked up correctly, no leaks, and took extra time to make sure the closet door could close (really small room and original layout didn't take into consideration the dryer exhaust vent). Overall really happy I found him — will def use again.

I have used Rich for over 10 years for various plumbing needs, including water heater installations. Rich is a real professional who not only loves what he does, does it well, but also really cares about his customers. Last night, my water heater kicked the bucket. I called Boston Water Heaters at around 9 pm to leave a message and Rich answered. Yes, he answered at 9 pm. Rich fit me in and came out today to install a new water heater for me. He came when he said and charged me what I knew to be a fair price. I will not use anyone else for this service. The care he has shown to me when I've been in a pinch has earned him my loyalty as a customer. Thanks Rich!

If I’m ever asked, “do you know a good plumber?” My answer will be...I have a great one! I called Nick, last night and asked if he could quote me for replacing a garbage disposal and a time of when he could come install it. Instead of him providing me with that info, he asked me what was wrong with it. After I explained the problem, he then asked me if I had tools and some time for him to explain what I needed to do. I said yes, and he explain exactly what I needed to do to remedy the problem. I followed his instructions and problem fixed!

I had this same problem at my parents house and a different plumber charged my parents $1,000 to replace it, instead of what I was explained to do.

Plumr is the plumbing contact you need in your phone. When Nick first came to my house for a quote for a job he will be doing at my house, he was on time, professional and very knowledgeable!

Summary: Not only tried to rip us off for a job, they actually LIED and INVENTED a problem that was blatantly non-existent to try to fleece us out of more than $700.

Story...

I called about a shower that was not giving hot water. They charged a $69 visit/diagnostic fee, which is a lot and does not apply to the actual job, but I accepted it. After coming by, they said I need to schedule a water mains shutoff to the house (I live in one of three units) because they couldn't just turn off water to the shower itself, and that I needed to order a new shower valve online for them to replace next time for an installation fee of $460. Again I thought it was pricey but reasonable...

Before they left I asked them about a bathroom faucet that had low cold water pressure. They said they'll take a look, and pretended to attempt to turn off the valves under the sink to shut off the water. Then, they said that those valves were corroded, couldn't be turned, and need replacement. Without being able to shut off the water they'd again have to wait until the water mains shutoff. They however, strongly recommended me to replace those valves in addition to fixing the faucet problem next time. Total quoted cost: ~$700

NOW I was a little suspicious. My bathroom plumbing isn't that old, and given that the only thing they did during this $70 visit was attempting to rotate those valves under the sink, I decided to see myself just how stuck they were. To my utter surprise, both valves turned smooth as butter, easily closing and opening all the way under the force of merely two fingers. And what's more, after opening one of the valves just one extra turn, the water pressure problems was immediately resolved. Total time and cost for someone with zero plumbing experience to fix: 1 minute and $0

Having quickly fixed something that was quoted $700 by a seasoned professional, I figured that as a naturally gifted plumber I should delve into the shower problem myself. Of course there was still that pesky problem of shutting off the water mains. Fortunately, after unscrewing the face plate from the faucet handle (30 seconds of work which they did NOT bother to do during the diagnostic visit btw, I wonder why), I found not one but two valves that can shut off both hot and cold water to the shower! Who could have known! And, after following some youtube instructions that took about 10 minutes and a single wrench, I can finally take a hot shower again! Total time and cost? 20 minutes and $0 (well, except for the valve that they told me to buy online which turned out to be totally unneeded. But I'll be returning that...)

I’ve used Michael on at least 10 projects. I’m a contractor and I have never had a problem with his service or price. The reality is that people’s time is worth something, especially on a weekend emergency call.
