We can't speak highly enough of Rich and the work he did for us. He replaced our old hot water heater with a propane fuelled one. The end result has been excellent. He was also kind enough to replace a couple of faucets as an additional side project while he was here. From the start Rich was a consummate professional: he returned calls quickly, came out immediately and gave us a reasonable estimate, and then completed the job in a timely fashion. He will be a our go-to for all future projects. Highly recommend.

Rich came out the same day as my water heater died, with permits and a replacement in tow. He was thorough, prompt, professional and personable. He took time to explain the details of the system and how it worked. Couldn't ask for more. Would definitely use him again.

I contacted Rich in early November to replace a malfunctioning boiler/hot water combination unit. Rich was prompt to return calls, and provided an extremely reasonable estimate within a few days of our first contact. He then completed the installation, and although the install was harder than he initially expected, he stuck to his original estimate. He installed a Burnham cast iron boiler, with an HTP 60 Gallon Superstor and we have been very happy with the results so far, and very impressed with Rich's installation and continued service.

Very, very happy! My water heater broke down and started leaking at the beginning of a long, holiday weekend. Googled water heater repairs in the Revere area and found Rich Mathews. It was an absolute pleasure working with Rich on getting two of my boilers replaced. Rich is extremely friendly, professional and thorough gentleman. He came over as soon as I called him, was very detail oriented with the work outline and the quote. I called Rich Matthews at the beginning of December to talk about replacing my ancient (1982) furnace and a water heater that was starting to hurt. Add in that I was trying to do it through Mass Save with a heat loan. Rich came out to my house on a Saturday to look at the job and give us the quote we would need to get the heat loan. He had the quote to me that same day via email and he dropped off a paper copy the next business day. He's forthright and honest and he started teeing up the special pieces we would need while we were waiting for the bank to approve the loan. He was very responsive the whole time and was good about giving me a call for updates.

Because of the jury-rigged nature of the old furnace, he told us it would take two days, possibly three, to get the old one out and the new furnace and water heater in. He replaced the water heater on day one so we wouldn't be without. Then he worked late on a Friday to get everything done right before the temperatures dropped down below 20. The new ductwork, venting, and drain for the condensate are all really well done. You can see the quality of his work. It is well below freezing outside, and this is the warmest my house has been since I bought it. He even came back after the install was complete to change an exterior fitting for the air intake because he wasn't happy with the part he had on hand when he did the job originally.

10/10 I would go back to Rich for any work I needed done.

Rich replaced my hot water heater. I was very impressed. He did an excellent job, was very personable, and stood by the quote he gave me. I could tell he loves what he does and wants to make sure it’s done the right way. He even helped me over the phone when I first called to make sure my old hot water heater was properly turned off. I have used Rich for over 10 years for various plumbing needs, including water heater installations. Rich is a real professional who not only loves what he does, does it well, but also really cares about his customers. Last night, my water heater kicked the bucket. I called Boston Water Heaters at around 9 pm to leave a message and Rich answered. Yes, he answered at 9 pm. Rich fit me in and came out today to install a new water heater for me. He came when he said and charged me what I knew to be a fair price. I will not use anyone else for this service. Rich Mathews is really a good HVAC and plumbing expert, very genuine and honest with estimation, work and well organized. We got flooded and the hot water stopped functioning, called so many places, Rich was out on another job, promptly returned my calls, texts and emails. He also has a great relationship with the local town inspectors that is able to coordinate very efficiently on permits and inspection times. He came over on Saturday and got the water heater replaced by Monday, again kept us in the loop with the process. Fixed few things which the builder had forgotten about it during initial construction. He has kept in contact after the job was done to make sure we were runing and if other items related to water damage were getting addressed, highly recommend him, glad that I found my plumber for all future work (Thanks Rich !)

Rich is the most responsive plumber I have met. A solid professional whose depth of experience and knowledge can handle any all your plumbing work. Our job look like a straight forward electric water heater, but no, there were problems in evacuating old tank. Rich had all the tools to circumvent the issue.
