He did a professional job repairing our toilet and installing a new faucet in the bathroom. He left the work area clean when he was finished. I highly recommend McMahon Plumbing and Heating.

After finding a leak in our sewer line in the basement, I panicked! Called McMahon and within one day they were out assessing the issue and came back the NEXT day to fix it. Upfront with pricing and honest about what the issue(s) were, I felt confident! The whole team was amazing, super responsive, and extremely professional - even going above and beyond! Had a great experience working with McMahon for our new high efficiency boiler. Mike was very helpful and patient in explaining our options and the pros and cons of each. They always answered my calls and emails in a timely fashion making scheduling easy and quick even during a very busy time of the year for them. The installation looks extremely professional and system works great. The installation team was very respectful and friendly (and a big hit with our dog!). My first experience was with a leaking water heater on a Friday night. Mike McMahon came to the house and did the repairs that evening. Six months later we had a dripping sink, a non-working toilet, and a mysterious leak from the upstairs bathtub. Workers helped do all the repairs within a week. Very polite, easy-to-work-with workmen and office staff.

I had two moderate issues with the HVAC system in my new home. Ledi and Patrick from McMahon came days after I requested an appointment and took care of both issues. They were on-time in the window quoted and took the time to explain their work and its impact on my home to me. I've used McMahon for jobs large and small across two homes now and would recommend their services.

Called to get a quote. Spent 20 minutes explaining to the receptionist only to be transfered to another person to spend 20 minutes explaning the same thing. The guy was extremely rude and hung up on me for no reason. Never will i ever call or recommend this company.

I had a small job a few days before Thanksgiving. The handle in my shower broke off and I had neither the tools nor the parts to fix it. My household was about to double in size. McMahon plumbing was willing to make time in the schedule for a small repair. They came when they said they would, and they communicated with me throughout the process. The men who came to my home were courteous. I was, however, a bit shocked by the cost - the reason for the drop of one star.

Very courteous and professional. Technician tested the drain multiple times to make sure that the leak was actually fixed and there wasn’t a need for a call back. You get what you pay for if you want high quality service.

We had the cast iron flange in our toilet completely disintegrated, Adam came in a within a few hours it was fixed. I strongly suggest that you use McMahon Plumbing.

The schedulers and plumbers were professional and capable, but the owner was very rude. I had an issue with a stove after they replaced the gas hose and when I tried to explain it he kept talking over me and shouting no. If he didn't understand the issue, it would have been professional to discuss it calmly and/or investigate it. I will be using a different plumbing company in the future.

Made an appointment for Wednesday. Received a call from the technician in the morning saying he was on his way. When he arrived introduced himself and then we looked at my issue. He then gave me several options on what he could do and the price for each option. After deciding on what option was best for me he finished the job in a timely matter and fixed my problem. Was very pleased with the service and if I have any future issues I will more than likely use them again

McMahon sent a plumber to address my issue on the same day I called. They kept me informed of his schedule and when to expect him. Elvis explained the situation to me and gave me alternatives to choose from with pros/cons of each. The repair was done quickly and he made sure I was happy with the results. These guys are crooks beware you will be over charged, they charged 2k for a water heater install.

Our roof top commercial HVAC stopped blowing cold air so I contacted 3 plumbing and heating specialists from home advisor. The 1st tech told me the whole unit had died and needed replacement- an $9k problem. The 2nd tech was Chris from McMahon who identified the problem in 5 minutes: a failed capacitator which he promptly replaced- a $425 solution. Chris was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. It took him 30 mins. I will definitely call on this great local business again. Thanks McMahon P+H!

They came within an hour of my call and determined my leak was from a pipe behind the kitchen sink & kitchen cabinet! They removed all the damaged wood , insulation & replaced the pipe quickly! Before they started they quoted me a reasonable price which was very nice to hear!! Before they left they tested everything to ensure the leak was resolved! Highly recommend them! And will use them going forward!

I just had them come out and discuss our options today. They were masked with booties over their shoes, so I felt that they were taking my health and their own seriously. We are making plans for them to do a toilet replacement in my home.

(8/19/2020) Follow up: The techs came out today, removed our old leaking toilet, put in a new toilet, installed our new bidet seat, cleaned up, explained the work, and got out in less than two hours. They were great! Quick, efficient, great work, and just very nice guys. We will definitely call on them for any other plumbing needs.

(8/9/2022) Had to call on the guys again as our garbage disposal stopped working. They came out to take a look, and let me know that I needed a new one as the old one had a small leak, and was badly rusted. They installed a new one same day, and took a look at a valve problem with our toilet as well. They were so helpful and nice, did a great job, and cleaned up the job site afterwards. It’s wonderful to have plumbers you can trust to do the job well. I will definitely call on them again when needed.

McMahon went above and beyond in responding immediately (same day!) to my request to replace a broken water heater in my 88 year old mother's home. Adam - the technician - was unbelievably professional and thorough in doing the work. He had a very competent, can-do attitude and was careful and clean. The workmanship looked impeccable to my eyes. I would definitely recommend McMahon very highly.

Hi, we needed a new toilet installed in my husband's office. I called 4 plumbers and McMahon was the only one to call me back:-) I told them what we needed and scheduled the appointment for a few days later. Another plus, they did not keep us waiting:-) John showed up on time and ready to install our beautiful new toilet. He noticed something else that needed repairing and after checking in with us, he made the repair. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Julie and Adrianna in the office are terrific and helpful. Mike called to check in before the appointment to talk about the kind of toilet we wanted to install. Many people from Team McMahon checked in throughout the process. It's really nice when you deal with professional people and they do what they say they're gonna do and who show up on time and ready to go. It was a pleasure. We will definitely use them for all our plumbing needs. I highly recommend them!

Adam serviced our hot water heater efficiently and with great care and precision. I was particularly impressed by his taking the time to explain some of its quirks to me. Superlative and timely work!

Elvis from McMahon Plumbing & Heating came by this morning at the exact time promised. He was fast, straightforward, courteous, and solved our problem in less than one hour. Starting price was clear and given straight to me BEFORE he showed up and before starting any additional work, which in plumbing world is quite nice. I highly recommend this service.

The technician that came out was professional and courteous. Had work done that had been previously assessed to be needed. They did a great job and took away some leak and overflow stress. They charged me $881 dollars to replace a kitchen faucet. The scope of the job was 1. Remove old faucet, 2. Install their own faucet. Done. This was not a $881 job, I'm still in shock! Never again

Extremely professional and helpful throughout the process.

The scheduler was careful to let me know that they would get someone to me if they could, but would let me know if they couldn't. That was nice.
The scheduler called me within an hour of the plumber's arrival, which allowed me to prepare for his arrival.
The plumber showed up, looked at the problem, understood what was needed, gave me a price which I ok'd, got the parts out of his truck, noticed another issue that was sort of part of the problem, got the parts and fixed it, let me know he was done, left the place clean and took care of payment.

It was smooth and simple. Because I needed them immediately it cost money, but that was my fault, their prices are higher than I'd like but probably right in line with the service they provide.

I hired McMahon when the 1/4 hp motor on my hot air furnace died. It was an old furnace and the tech told me they could not find a replacement motor anywhere (they looked for couple hours) he told me a new furnace is ~$8-9k.

The tech said if I found a motor they would install it, very nice. I found one on ebay (exact model # motor but also ~30 years old). I had the tech install the old $89 ebay motor and it did not work. I understand it was my gamble and it cost me. It was ~800 for McMahon to install the faulty motor

I took the old motor to an HVAC supply (Custom Fan in Medford) and within 1 minute the guy behind the counter found an identically spec'd motor (for $280). I highly recommend anyone in the same situation to do go to Custom Fan.

I also had McMahon service the two functional furnaces (it is a triple decker) at a cost of 369/per furnace. When I looked I realized they had not even replace the air filters, and when I looked in the track the filter goes I could see the accumulated dirt in the duct work.

I paid McMahon by credit card over the phone, as I was not present when the work was done. Despite being told by the tech I would get a receipt that afternoon, and despite the fact I have called and asked for receipts 4 times I have yet to receives in excess of $1,500 dollars.

I took the new motor I found at Custom Fan and installed it myself. It works perfectly and took me ~ 45 minutes to do, would have been quicker but I also installed 3 new filters ($45).

Unfortunately during this pandemic I had the unfortunate luck of my shower breaking obviously an unneeded stress and financial set back but once John arrived he diagnosed the problem quickly and searched for two days for a specific part needed to fix my shower. Once the part was located he fixed my shower in under 30 minutes! He was also very nice and came prepared with a mask and hand sanitizer as well!

My sump pump died in the middle of Tropical Storm Ida. Called McMahon and they sent Elvis out, who by chance had previously installed a hot water heater. Elvis replaced the pump and gave solutions on how to maintain the pump as well as installing a new hose from the pump to the street.

Repairmen came arrived in an hour.Very efficient and courteous. I was informed of the cost of repairs before work was performed. Very happy with the results.

John was able to access the problem and have the issue fixed the next day. Super responsive and would recommend in the future

McMahon plumbing was fast in scheduling a visit, were very clear up front about the costs (diagnosis and visit fee are independent whether the repair is carried out, as is usual)

The repair took two visits as the part required for the repair needed to be ordered. As a result I had two different technicians visit me. Both were professional, respectful and took the appropriate COVID safety precautions (they wore masks)

I have to tell you, the price was a little higher than what might be average and considering the repair. However, you get what you pay for.

I had an emergency and called them, and they were there in an hour. So responsive, and really good at explaining the problem and going the extra mile. I was so happy!

With the cold weather my home experienced frozen pipes. After a call was placed they showed at my home and proceeded to clear a clogged drain after the pipes had thawed. In clearing the clog it was discovered that the pipes were rotted. They would have to return the following day. Not sure if when they would return, I tried calling early the next morning and got voicemail. After several call and getting voicemail a trip was made to the office. After speaking with the receptionist I was told by the supervisor that they shut off the phones because of so many calls. To me this was unacceptable and I made it known. Communication is key in any business situation and I should not of had to make a trip to the office to get an answer. Again, communication is key.

it was late on a friday and they drove 90 mins in traffic ....but they came true to their word at almost 5 pm...and worked until the job was done. the guys who came were extremely personable and helpful and worked hard.

The McMahon Plumbing & Heating technicians who have served us all have been excellent in their expertise, politeness and congeniality. Service has always been prompt and even the largest job, installing two new furnaces and a central air conditioning unit, was done in a very timely fashion. We highly recommend McMahon Plumbing & Heating for the quality of their work.

The guys showed up quickly and were professional the entire time! They helped me complete a couple plumbing projects that have been plaguing us around the house, and were very transparent about the cost as we went. Now if only plumbing was cheaper in general..

Anytime you need to call a plumber on a Sunday you worry. As you wonder ‘what will this cost?’ ‘ will we have to wait for hours?’ Well those were our concerns when we woke to a chilled 40 degree house on a Sunday during a frigid cold week . The call for help was made at 8 am and by 12 pm warmth had returned. McMahon was responsive, efficient, professional and considering it was a Sunday service call reasonably priced. We were pleased and relieved to have the McMahon magnet on the fridge.

UPDATE: The owner called me shortly after I posted this review. He was incredibly kind and truly wanted to understand the situation and why I felt how I did about my review below. I explained, he was incredibly understanding and gave his perspective on how the interaction should have gone, where there was a training opportunity for his newer employee, and we were able to quickly compromise on a small refund on the fee to my satisfaction. Given the 2 star issue was acknowledged and rectified, I am changing my score to 5/5.

I'm giving them a 3/5 for a couple reasons, but here is why I called:
I had gotten a new fridge and in the process of changing out my water hose I discovered some poorly done work by my original builder. There was an old straddle valve in a pipe under the sink to provide water to the line and began leaking bad while changing the pipe. I knew this was a bit beyond my scope due to the location and the part so I wanted this either fixed or built into a more reliable long term solution.

Pro:
1)McMahon was the only company (out of 7 I called) that had availability same day. Person who takes the calls was incredibly nice.

2) When it was all said and done, the plumber did a fine job and resolved the issue in a clean and permanent way

Con:
1) Where other quotes of $50-$70 'service fee for a quote' are put toward the work if you use their service, McMahon charges $129 just to quote you (nothing toward repair).

2) The repairman, while very kind and seemingly simply doing his job, quoted me at over $1,000 for a repair others said they could do for likely $200-$300 total. He said he was going to add a new valve for the dishwasher (he was not called about the dishwasher).

3) I now had a man here to do a job I needed done, and a quote almost half the price of the brand new fridge just to get ice.... I told the guy to ONLY do the work needed to make the ice maker and water dispenser work which involved cutting a pipe and adding a new (non saddle) valve. The total work (with the $129 fee) was $554.

The 3 star is mainly because I believe if I had just said 'yes' they'd have charged me $1000 for a $200-$300 repair that took about 30 min.

TL;DR - They fit me in same day, the work when it was said and done was good. BUT... they tried to, in what can only be described as a movie plumber cliche, scam me into doing a bunch of things I absolutely didn't need to do to resolve the issue. They quoted me around $990, I asked to remove the unnecessary things, which ended up at $550 (with the $129 service fee). This left me to either send him away and eat the $129 and hope the guy coming the next day was better priced, or do the work right now.

If the fee went toward the repair and the total was $400 or less I'd give a 5 star, but no one wants to feel like they're being played, and I felt that for sure.

Dave was on time and cheerfully and professionally handled a messy situation that required more work than he originally thought. He communicated clearly about the work, and the quality of his work was excellent.

Responsive, friendly, quick to schedule the repairs and took care of water heater issue that same day.
The diagnosis fee is separate from the repair costs, but still reasonable cost.

READ THIS BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY - I am not sure where to begin. Let's start with timeliness. We have three kids, and an active household. This Plumbing company will give you an appointment time, and WILL MISS THE APPOINTMENT. When we called to get an update on the time we were told it was lunch now, and the technicians would have to come after they are done eating....HUH?

Next - We needed the Navien water heater serviced, and the techs told us that it was installed incorrectly and they would need to fix the piping. The pipe has three curves in order to circumvent a supporting beam. The told us they could come back in a week and gave us the appointment time.

Today, is that appointment, and we are wondering where they are. We call and Mike (owner?), rudely tells us alot of people are without heat (I'm thinking my phone says it's 65 degrees right now ...not freezing, AND how many people plural could possibly be without heat at 9am, AND we HAVE AN APPOINTMENT....AND and and). My husband states the obvious which is, but you told us you would be here and we rearranged our work day to accommodate. To which Mike responds, if you were one of our regular customers I could help you but I am telling everyone else 2 weeks!

The only thing I can do is help them lighten their business load so that they can better serve their core customers. THAT WAY they won't waste my time nor anyone else's. So, here is my 1 star review.

We discovered early on a Sunday morning that our water heater had failed. We were frantic. By Sunday afternoon, the wonderful folks from McMahon were in our basement, discussing options for replacement that could be done that day or the next. We chose the tankless system and McMahon said we’d have hot water again by 3:30 the next afternoon. And we did! The old broken tank was gone and the hot water was working again at 3pm — a half hour early!
This is a great company. They show up when they say they will, they know their stuff, and they are kind and helpful in stressful situations such as flooded basements. Give them a call when you need a plumber. You’ll be glad you did.

John and his assistant did a fantastic job replacing my water heater that had leaked all over the basement.
The Men arrived on time and went right to work on the problems. When I have additional Plumbing issues, I will call McMahon Plumbing & Heating.

I'm sure they do way more than we've used them for, but we've used these guys for what I marked above. Couple things to recommend them: they're on time (amazing), they are always very careful about billing (thanks!) and they do excellent work (whoo hoo!). They seem to be a lot of fun as well.

McMahon responded quickly once again to my call for a/c service. Once it was determined we needed a new system, they returned first thing the next day to begin the install. We encountered an electrical issue but they went above and beyond to find someone to help us resolve the matter on the same day. The customer service at McMahon is outstanding!

I have written a positive review of McMahon Plumbing & Heating in the past, but unfortunately my opinion has changed. I've used them before for heating services, so maybe that is their strength. I will never call them again for plumbing services. I had a clogged shower drain-- the most simple plumbing problem to fix! I can't miss work and wait around all day for a plumber, so my retired neighbor let them in. Then they stood around for half an hour and left without doing a thing! Apparently they needed to speak with me before they could do the job. I'M AT WORK! I CAN'T ANSWER THE PHONE! I TOLD YOU THE PROBLEM, SO PLEASE GO FIX IT! Instead they wasted everyone's time. Then I called Vaughan Plumbing & Heating-- also local to Hyde Park-- and they gave me an UPFRONT COST! How hard is that, McMahon?! I left a check for them for the amount they quoted me, and the job was done the day after McMahon did absolutely nothing. For plumbing issues, please use VAUGHAN P & H! I have no idea what McMahon expects. I have a job-- my life doesn't revolve around you. I guess if you are available to stay home all day, then McMahon might be able to fix your plumbing problem. I'll never know! For the rest of us who live in the real world, McMahon is a total waste of time (at least for plumbing issues).

I called McMahon to perform routine maintenance on our tankless water heater. They were able to schedule an appointment for the following day and they showed up on time and called 30 min in advance to confirm. The technician was friendly and polite. This is the third time I have used McMahon and each time the service has been good. One thing I appreciate is that they are willing to discuss in detail, the technical aspects of the work they perform. That way I can reference the knowledge that I have through research and feel confident they are performing all of the required tasks, as recommended by the manufacturer, industry standards, etc.

They were excellent. They figured out a tricky water leak without having to tear into any walls or floors, saving a lot of time, hassle and money.

Said they would come, and no showed, then said we had to pay an after hours rate if we wanted them to come.

We have never been disappointed with the quality of service we have received from the technicians at McMahon's. They are professional, they explain the job in details, and they clean up after themselves. We would like to praise Adam and Elvis for their great work! Thank you!

I needed help correcting the draft on the flue of my water heater. I called other locations and they didn't understand what I was talking about, but when I called McMahon, the woman who picked up was friendly and was able to get me a tech within the same morning. When the tech came, he was professional and courteous; he remained extremely communicative about what he was doing, and how he was doing it. He was also very patient when I asked a barrage of questions regarding other services. Would recommend for a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I called McMahon about a couple of issues that had been lingering for a while. They made an appointment for 2 days later and fixed everything the same day. The plumber was very professional, neat and nice. I will definitely use McMahon for future services.

I was very pleased to have found McMahon Plumbing after struggling to find consistent plumbers elsewhere. My highest praise goes to McMahon Plumbing & Heating, particularly with their responsiveness and attentiveness to resolving all issues with my heating system. John and Sokol were able to quickly visit and fortunately accommodate my inconsistent availability. They were very thorough in diagnosing the issues with my hot water-based radiator system and Buderus boiler, and came back the next day to install new parts: fill valve, coin vent, relief valve. It's never fun having to cough up money on repairs, but working with McMahon made it as painless as possible. Several weeks later, I can confidently tell they addressed all possible issues. Thanks, McMahon!

After calling two other businesses that told me I would have to wait a week before they could set an appointment, I was relieved to have help from McMahon Plumbing the next day. Jose came out and fixed a broken pipe. He was efficient and knowledgeable. He worked quickly and left everything better than it was before. He was friendly and helpful! I would work with McMahon plumbing again!

Here's my opinion:

McMahon lied to us and almost ruined our boiler. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but I think people really need to know about this.

First, we paid to have two boilers inspected and tuned-up. After the job as I was paying, I asked for a report and was told it would be sent to me. When I emailed for a report (they never sent it) the owner emailed me with a checklist of what they inspected but with no information on my boilers. I don't think they even took notes. Less than two weeks later one of the boilers they inspected and tuned-up broke and I paid McMahon to fix it. In hindsight I'm not surprised it broke so soon after.

Shortly after at another property I hired McMahon to fix and tune-up a new high efficiency boiler because it wasn't working. The techs came and spent some time with the unit, then told us everything is working and that the unit was tuned-up.

The boiler was still broken. We contacted them multiple times and were told that to do a proper repair would costs thousands. They wanted to charge us to bring them back to re-check their own work. Nope. That was the last straw.

I hired another plumbing company to inspect the boiler and what they found was scary. The pressure valve had been disassembled but not completely re-assembled. As a result, the boiler had been running without enough water on the verge of burning out. The whole system was filled with air.

Furthermore, the unit was NOT cleaned at all, and I was told that it was most likely not even opened because the screws had no markings on them.

We've spent thousands with McMahon on multiple jobs.

If you don't know about plumbing, don't trust this company to be honest with you.

The second company I hired was amazing. They exposed all of the issues, fixed them, explained every little thing to us, and now our boiler is working again just in the nick of time.

Found out that my water shutoff valve for the washer wasn’t working — McMahon was quick to respond and save the day, after I struck out three times with other plumbers (two non responsive, one was going to charge an arm and a leg). Not only did they replace the valve, they also removed the old washing machine, installed the new one, and installed a tub sink for me as well. The final price was still a bit on the expensive side, but nowhere near as much as the quote I received from the last plumber, and I’m satisfied with the work done, so its definitely worth every penny. Elvis was friendly, made sure I had no questions, and also made sure I checked with my condo association before shutting off the water, which I hadn’t even thought of doing! Definitely will be hiring them again if I need any more plumbing work done in the future.

called for an emergency leak on my water heater, came with property when we purchased 3 years ago and never serviced. Water heater is 15 years old sprang a leak and they responded within an hour and a half to assess and clean up. Had water heater replaced without issue. Adam was our guy, very professional and polite and explained how everything worked as this is our first experience needing a plumber, sad but true.

I called mcmahon plumbing thursday morn at 9:30 to get a price to have our Burnham gas boiler to be cleaned. I spoke with Mike, He told me that
there is a $99.00 service fee and $149.00 for the cleaning. I told him i would call him back as i was going to get another price. I called back at 11:30. Set up a time for friday at 12:00 noon. I also confirmed the price $250
he had given to me on thursday morning. Once confirmed. I said fine, we will see you at 12:00. Well... 12:00 friday, came and went. I called at 1:30
to see if there was any problem. They said no, he should be there at 3:00
Well 3:00 came and went. They finally showed up at 5:00. Upon taking apart our boiler, the plumber told me that the price of the job was $391.00
not the $250.00 which was ORIGINALLY TOLD told to me, not once but twice by mike the GM I told him that
was not the price that was given too me. If i had know it was going to be $391.00. I never would have had them do the work. They removed three or four items from the boiler room, upon getting ready to leave, not only
did they not put the items back. They left all of the CARBON on the floor. They didn't sweep it up or vaccum it up, they left it there. My wife and i had to clean up all the CARBON . The CARBON was tracked
thruout our basement floor. DO NOT HIRE OR LET THESE PEOPLE ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR HOME.... TOTALLY.. UNTRUSTWORTHY

They were very friendly on the phone when i called to set up the service call. Elvis was quick and knowlegable when he diagnosed the problem and very quick with the repair. The only thing is very overpriced! Charged $784 to install an $84 part no tools needed done in 5 minutes..I guess I received the Covid-19 rate....

I called about our kitchen sink not working, over the phone they informed me about a $99 service charge just to come out to the house. This would have been fine, but when the plumber arrived, they had me sign for the $99 charge and then told me that there would be another $200 diagnostic fee for them to continue. Now I have agreed to $300, none of which would go towards labor or materials for a fix. They initially dismissed the problem saying the faucet would need to be replaced and only when I pressed them about the valves under the sink did they continue to investigate to find the valves would need to be replaced as well.

I agreed to have them replace the valves. In the process they turned the main water off with no notice (we have an upstairs neighbor), left a bin of water in the basement for me to deal with, and charged me $235 for a sloppy job opening the wall (picture attached). The actual valve replacement work was done and seems fine (cost $530).

All in all they did the job, but they weren't very friendly or helpful and I wasn't very happy about the extra $200 getting tacked on to the $99 service charge before any work was done. Total amount charged was over $1000.

UPDATE: After posting this review they called and apologized for the poor experience, refunding me the $200 diagnostic fee. I would consider giving them another shot in the future.

We had a great experience. Toilet had been leaking so I decided to play plumber...Then realized I need to stick to my day job. McMahon came and tried to help BUT the toilet needed replacing. They were VERY RESPONSIVE. Came back the next day and installed a new toilet. They carefully explained all the costs up front. Plus gave us a 1/2 hour heads up on arrival. Will definitely use again.

Bottom line = stay away from this company, super unprofessional, unresponsive, and poor quality.

The fellow who changed my kitchen faucet was highly competent and affable, when after hitting several frustrating snags not of his own making, solved the problem and did a satisfactory repair.

They were punctual and professional. Explained everything and worked quickly and efficiently.

The main drain pipe had been overrun with tree roots and was in bad shape. I received good advice as to the different options available for dealing with the problem. The work was done in a timely fashion and I have confidence that if the need arises again, the McMahon group will manage the problem effectively.

We've recently installed tank-less water heater with McMahon Plumbing after our tank based one broke.
The company was fast to response and completed the project in timely manner with excellent quality.
After reading some of reviews here I was bit worried about pricing, so I've called couple of other bigger companies, and their estimates were in a comparable pricing range. All in all, considering timing and quality, I think the pricing is about right.
Definitely can recommend McMahon Plumbing.

We had a family crisis when our water heater stopped producing hot water. I called McMahon Plumbing & Heating that morning and they arranged to come to my home a few hours later. I had a new stove delivered to my home this week and I was in need of someone to come disconnect the gas line from our old stove, and reconnect to the new one. I did a Google search for plumbers in the West Roxbury area, and this was the second listing. I called over and had a friendly conversation with the man who answered the phone, he let me know they would call me the following day to set up an appointment. Anxious to get the new stove up and running, I agreed to wait. About an hour later, I received another call from the company, and they let me know they could send someone over that evening. Withing 20 minutes two men arrived at my house and set up my new stove, and even removed the old one. They were very forthcoming with the cost of the project and were unbelievably friendly. I was extremely please with my experience with this plumbing company and wouldn't hesitate to call again if we ever need anything.

Had an appointment for a plumber for 12:30PM for a kitchen faucet replacement, nobody came and nobody had the courtesy to call that they are going to be late. At 1:15PM I called their office and was told that they are just cleaning up on the last job they were doing, will eat lunch and will be in my house at 2:30PM. At 2:37PM the office person I talked to earlier called to tell me they are just leaving and wont be here for another 30minutes. I told the guy that I am cancelling the job request because I have been waiting for more than 2 hours and cannot wait any longer. I haven't even finished talking yet and he interrupted me to say OK bye!.Not even a feeble apology for my wasted time!
There is no way I am calling that company again.
I'll stick with Winters, they are a little more expensiven but have always been reliable and respectful.

They were on time and very helpful. The service was great, and would recommend McMahon Plumbing and Heating to other client's.

We've had situations where we needed to request McMahon Plumbing 3 times. The first 2 times were toilet flusher replacements and the most recent was a spring tune up for our compact gas furnace and water heater. Also, plumbing seems to always be some degree of emergency for the home owner. They've always made themselves same day available. Their attitude is not haphazzard or just good enough.

In all cases, we were completely satisfied with the work and their professionalism. Brian did 2 of our jobs. He was fully equipted with both mechanics and a smart analysis of our issues. Plumbing is much more sophisticated and complex these days. Brian worked continually when he was here, both polite and able to tell me what was wrong and how he would fix it. He was thorough, making sure the entire problem was addressed.

In terms of COVID19 protocols, they're masked, social distanced and even put booties on before entering the house. I think I am of the generation (71) where we tended to think plumbing was expensive. During these times you get what you pay for and these costs are inline and industry standards. They're worth it.

Poor service all around, would recommend steering clear unless you want to play guess and check with repairs. When working on my heating system the first repair was 2000$, and less than a month later the system was broken again. The second repair was quoted at 1500$. Instead of wasting 1500$ with this company I went with another heating company and the fix cost 300$. I have not had any issues since. Hoping to help someone else avoid the same mistake I made.

Had an old pipe that was corroding, they replaced pipe and I was happy with their work. They arrived when they said they would, communicated clearly and cleaned up when they were done.

Adam has come to our house a few times for different jobs and he is always prompt, professional and does great work.

All I can say is wow, $212 to install a thermostat , which I bought. They seem use the oldest trick in the book, , charge a low up front price and then gouge you in the end. $99 was more than reasonable to come out but $212 for about a 15 minute job. Look if you want to use them, expect this. this did come out fairly promptly , about 4 hrs after call, but I DEFINITELY would not call them again, I rather pay a bit more up front with TBros or others but not get gouged later. In the end people will use them because to get plumbers to come out is difficult and they know that.

The heating boiler was out in January it needed a part replaced it was done quickly and professionally. The heat was back on line promptly . The service technician was courteous and neat couldn’t ask for better service !

Poor review because plumber agreed to come out after I explained the scope of work, agreed to his additional fees. Today I got a call from someone at his office to say the plumber changed his mind and was no longer able to take the scope of work. It was a simple submeter install. Wasted time. Plumber was going to charge me $1,000 to file for a permit and make sure job passed inspection (on top of the cost to come out and actually quote me, and on top of the cost of repair) - terms I agreed to. After making the appointment I called the next day and confirmed I wanted them to come out and said I didn't care what the quote was and asked them to just come do the job and I'd pay whatever the cost is. He said the job would be done sometime next week. I stopped calling other places. My issue is time sensitive. Don't use them if your issue is time sensitive, now need to begin the process again.

A leaky toilet! MacMahon was able to schedule me quickly for an appointment the next business day. The plumber arrived on time and had everything ship shape in less than an hour. He even had the needed parts in his truck, close to hand. They’ve been my go to plumbing service for years. It’s always quality work provided by a knowledgeable professional.

Professional from start to finish. We had a new tankless water heater installed which was the best purchase my wife and made in 2017. McMahon Plumbing and Heating was professional, fast and delivered as promised. They are worth every penny. I should have written this after the great job they did but I didn't get around to it and forgot. Then last week when temps were below freezing my heater broke. I am sure they were very busy with emergency calls that week, but they somehow found time to come out and fix my heater the same day. Don't think twice give them a call you won't be disappointed.

Warning: they would tried all means to overcharge the customers.

I asked the McMahon to install a cleanup cap on the sewer pipe. It took one guy for less than 2 hours and charged me $2500. In the mean time, he tried to oversell me the sewer jet service for $1200 dollars and I easily got a quote of $500 for the same service from another plumber.

Adam and his coworker did a great job in fixing my shower and kitchen sink. They handled the job quickly and were very personable. I wouldn't hesitate in hiring them again.

McMahon Plumbing did an excellent job addressing a leaking pipe that was causing water to leak from my bathtub down to the lower floor basement. They assessed the problem efficiently, gave an accurate estimate, and came out a few days later and were able to do a very major job within the day. Adam was great, they were courteous and kept their work spaces clean, and when he had to get to the pipes by cutting into the wall and going behind a wood wall panel, he did a full recovery of the paneled area, and left my floors and walls in good shape afterward. I was very pleased!!

An hour later, they called me to let me know John was on the way. Overall I'm extremely happy with the project. The installation took place the day after the initial inspection, and the team worked expeditiously and efficiently. We called at 8am and our water heater was assessed as needing replacement by 930, as Adam showed up promptly. The new water heater was in before noon and despite the rain, the entire job was done cleanly and smoothly. Will certainly use them again! The pricing was also more than fair.

I called McMahon for an estimate for a new boiler for our church. Andrew from McMahon looked at it fir1 minute and said that they aren’t the company for us, as they don’t do large boilers that need a fireman rating (this may be incorrectly stated). Instead of wasting my time, he then gave me some reputable companies to call. Wish I. Hold have done business w them, but appreciate his forthrightness.

Was a repeat customer of McMahon - not anymore. Had a service tech out to the house to evaluate a backup and diagnose. As to the Service tech and his plumbing skills, he was great. Unfortunately, the Service Tech did not have the equipment to complete the job in his truck. He asked if I needed it done today - I did not. They sent me the estimate after the visit - but are charging a Dispatch Fee to come back out and do the work in addition to the dispatch fee they charged today to do the work. Called customer service and got Jennifer who asked What can I do to make you smile today? I asked her about the Dispatch Fee and why they would charge me to come back out when they didn't have the equipment. She didn't care that the tech didn't have the ability to do the work today We always charge a dispatch fee if the work isn't done in the same visit. Would have been nice if they told me that upfront. She also claimed if I had put down a deposit they would have gotten the equipment to me today or waived the fee. Would have been nice if anyone told me that. Since the tech had just left, I told her it would be great if they could get someone out to do the work today so I don't have to pay another dispatch fee. Jennifer refused. Anyway, Jennifer did not make me smile and the nickel and diming practices of this place is why I will no longer be a repeat customer. No issue with their plumbing - but I am not going to pay an extra $150 because the tech didn't have the equipment on his truck. And Jennifer could use some customer service training.

I asked for a quote on a new hot water tank and was told they could not give me a quote over the phone. Having come highly recommend I said okay see you tomorrow. When they arrived I was charged 129 dollars for them to quoted almost 5k. I will not be using them going forward as I have received multiple other quotes for half that price.

He made a tricky repair to a newish hot water heater that I thought I was going to have to replace.
He walked me through the process, repaired the problem and pointed out how to access the warranty.

In short - would avoid at all costs.

The company was recommended by a friend to help fix a slow-draining bath tub. They ended up using air pump, busted the piping and caused a considerable leak with water damage (i.e. cieling holes in the two rooms below the bath). This cost us $500, with invoice citing they left the premise in good shape - despite the holes as the evidence to contrary.

They said they would call the following day and fix the issue, but subsequently strung us along for 4 weeks until we called ourselves. The owner finally got in touch and provided us an estimate of $4,000 to fix the problem - this was more than twice the estimate of their original quote.

We then contacted a different plumber who fixed the issue in 2h work for $310.

Tankless hot water heater decided not to work after 5 years of perfect operation. The service tech was a bit strong at first on the “might need a new system” thing for various ‘reasons’ but that went away after he worked with the technician on the phone and it became clear that just a few adjustments were needed. Overall a good experience, I would definitely use them again.

I worked with McMahon Plumbing & Heating on a kitchen renovation, including replacing a sink and garbage disposal, relocating a gas range, installing a water fill line for fridge, installing a radiator, and relocating a hose spigot. They also replaced some corroded pipe that was uncovered during demo. Their pricing was fair and upfront, and they were prompt, professional and friendly. I look forward to working with them again whenever we need a plumber, and recommend them very highly.

McMahon provided excellent service. Everyone is professional and polite. They came quickly and did a fine job. BUT ... the cost was shocking. They charged me around $900 for something that took less than a bit more than an hour, and required a few common and inexpensive parts. They don't break down how much of the bill is parts and how much is labor so it's difficult to discuss it with them. I do know they have flat fee that they charge per visit (something like $160)... in addition any charges for parts and labor. They came to my house twice because they lacked a part on the first visit and charged me this fee twice. So that's $300 before they even start charging for labor or parts. Even at $600 it would be expensive considering that it was a small and fast repair. Despite the high quality of their work and their customer service I won't use them again.

It’s pricey, no doubt about it, for an emergency next day drain pipe replacement it was over $700 with the service visit fee. However, McMahon called me right away back, scheduled an appointment and arrived within 45 minutes. Elvis gave me two options and did the work in under 2 hours. He was very knowledgeable and clearly a master plumber. I wish they also did patching of any drywall they had to remove as I now have to find someone else to do that. Overall, it was an excellent customer service experience and I would highly recommend them for future problems. If price is a concern, I would get a few quotes if it’s not an emergency.

November 2020 we contacted McMahon Plumbing and Heating on the recommendation of a neighbor. The tankless water heater/boiler we had was continually requiring expensive repairs, and we had to decide whether to do another costly repair, or move on to a new system. After an assessment from Adam, the owner, Mike, visited to see our situation, and discuss our options. We decided on a high efficiency Viessmann boiler with a Vitocell water tank. Adam did the installation in a day and returned to fine tune the system the next day. Adam was knowledgeable, skilled, and patient with our questions. We appreciated the visit by Mike to discuss our options, as it was a costly decision. We have been very satisfied with the function of the system. They also gave us clear instructions on recommended maintenance. I would highly recommend the company as they were responsive from the first phone call, conscientious, and efficient .

Got a helpful Consultation and evaluation of my existing heating and plumbing systems.

McMahon took care of a number of issues at my old house over the past 19 years and were always first rate. Sold the old house last month, bought a fairly new home, and right out the gate ... trouble with the heat and eventually stopped working. Called my friends at McMahon today/Friday (single digit temps outside) and they didn't know if they could send someone out before Monday due to over-abundance of calls. Sure enough, they called me back in a couple of hours - technician was on his way. No 'emergency/same day service fee'. Two issues repaired within an hour.

I can not say enough for this company, their office staff, their technicians, and their overall business model. Not my first review. But they're always the same: super satisfied customer!

I had a burst heating pipe on a Sunday and while most plumbers didn't even call me back Mcmahon Plumbing was out within the hour. John was very personable and did all he could do to get my heat back on as fast as possible.MIke Mcmahon, the owner of the company, came out to drop off some parts and actually reviewed my entire plumbing system while he was there and offered several valuable tips that i found useful. We had a leak from 2nd floor bathroom onto 1st floor. Three handymen wanted to tear out the leak stained part of the ceiling to find the leak. Then more than one plumber wanted to tear out the ceiling leak stained part of the ceiling and second one above it. Appears old house have two ceilings....BUT McMahon Plumbing plumber Adam began by checking the 2nd fl tub valve and found the leak. NO demolition of our house! He fixed it in a short amount of time. We joined a service plan they offer so they are now our official go to company for all our plumbing needs. Anyone who thinks Angie's List and Home Advisors and Home Pros are the way to go, this experience taught me that not to be so. We happened on McMahon my a miracle and cannot recommend them enough. In addition to great workmanship they are very respectful of your home, wear should booties to avoid tracking dirt, clean up after their work is done so there is no sign they were even there. Wish every professional service we need was a good as McMahon. On top of that they have fabulous customer service attitude and very up-to-date on state of the art equipment. The actually have cameras that can be sent into areas when it can prevent demolition. VERY HAPPY 70 year old.

He was awesome! Very polite, professional and knowledgeable about what the problem was. The company kept me abreast of when he would arrive because they knew I had to leave for a meeting by 2pm. He also offered to do a feee visual inspection of the plumbing in the house but I couldn’t do it for the sake of time. Great customer service and I would absolutely use them again.

I called them for diagnostics service for the water leak from my ceiling. The technician came and stayed for about 1 hour. At the end of the visit, the technician basically couldn't figure out what the problem is. THEY STILL CHARGED $300 FOR IDENTIFYING NOTHING.

After the visit, the technician said he will send me the summary of the visit (that includes pictures, what he looked at during the visit), but they never gave me that information. So I've been calling them OVER A WEEK to get this information but they have been purposefully avoiding my calls.

I got connected to a plumbing contractor through my realtor and he fixed everything for $300. (which is the price I paid for diagnostics service that didn't identify anything and I would have paid over $1000 if I used McMahon Plumbing.)

No issue with the work performed. Do note that they will be very expensive for smaller jobs - better off calling a handyman if it's something you can probably do yourself but just don't have the time.

A young plumber named Jose, I believe, came to replace our water filter and diagnose and repair a toilet. He was extremely competent, friendly, informative. I was very pleased with his service and glad we get our plumbing work done by McMahon.

I spoke directly to the office upon calling and was able to schedule same day appointment to address two separate leaks under kitchen sink. Elvis explained everything thoroughly. We opted to have him obtain replacement faucet and disposal. The following day he and his partner were again here on time, did the work, demonstrated the two new pieces were working, totally cleaned up and were finished within an hour. Service was excellent and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend McMahon Plumbing & Heating.

I noticed my baseboards weren't getting very hot and I called McMahon to have them come take a look. They were able to fit me in 3 days before Christmas and the techs that came out were great! David quickly diagnosed the problem with system and had the problem fixed in a few hours. Both techs wore face masks and had boot covers on to prevent damage to my hardwood floors and they left absolutely zero mess behind. Solid company to work with!

Had my rooftop HVAC unit for my condominum blowout in August during the heatwave. McMahon got someone over to check out the place within two days and ordered the replacement part promptly. They installed the replacement the day the part arrived from the distributor. They even helped me chase down the manufacturer's warranty (there was an issue, long story).

Their technicians are very friendly and knowledgeable, and got the job done quickly. I'd recommend McMahon to anyone in the area.

They installed a sump pump for me and they were terrific. Prompt, efficient, clear communication. They went above and beyond to do things right.

The night before I was leaving for a Fourth of July pops rehearsal,the water heater started to leak! My rehearsal was at 10 and a bit out of town so McMahon plumbing managed to get there in the morning in time to start the reinstallation of a new water heater before I left for the rehearsal wow!

NOT GOOD, NOT PROFESSIONAL AND NOT SERIOUS COMPANY!
I called the company and scheduled a first visit with $99 charge to have my ac unit looked at. On the day of the appointment, Chris came and wanted to be paid $129 (before even start to work) and he was saying that his name was different from McMahon... I did not understand this part... Anyways, I was there with him for the all time, I explained the problem more than once and the technician kept saying he could not help us because he did not know about the model of the ac unit and showing a lack in efforts to really try to help me to solve this problem...
After all of this, we asked to Chris to give us a quote of either repairing the existing ac unit or changing it completely, it has been almost one week and no one from the office called me back and followed up to inform me about the quote and how to have my problem solved! Please notice that I have still my ac unit broken and it is an emergency situation!!! After this Chris wanted to get $71 just because he was super slow and it took a life for him to understand what was wrong after I told him and explained twice what was wrong!!!
He seemed really confused, very slow-pace, not expert and not willing to work and have my problem solved.
I am really disappointed about this company! Stay away!

They were really great. They came out on short notice on the same day and gave us an estimate quickly for what seemed like a difficult job due to the compact water heater room in our building. They offered to come as early as the next day to repair it and was able to fix everything in a couple hours. We really appreciated their expertise and professionalism. They also advised us on other things wrong with our building and helped us out with other things that needed to be completed in our unit.

I have been using McMahon plumbing for years. They are always responsive and do great quality work. They are honest, and will let you know when you can wait to do some work or when it’s necessary to do the big repair now.

Adam was excellent helping during my emergency service, my plumbing called while Adam was finishing, but I choose to use my plumber to finish the job in the morning. The price quoted was 3x higher that I paid for my plumber.

Wanted to share an overall positive experience for a recent problem with tub drainage and a chronic blockage. The plumbers that worked in my home were personable, professional and respectful of myself and my house. They took necessary precautions to prepare surrounding areas for cutting out an old clogged pipe and replacing with PVC pipe. Not an easy job! I would definitely hire this team again for any future issues.

We moved into a new house that required the indirect hot water storage tank to be replaced. In the process of evaluating that job, it became clear the boiler also needed to be repaired. McMahon plumbing gave us a fair quote, arrived on time, respected our property and executed an efficient and successful installation. We were very pleased with the service and will keep
using them for our future home plumbing needs.

Horrible customer service experience. In the midst of the record temperatures I had a couple of pipes burst. In a panic I called a bunch of plumbers including McMahon because of their amazing reviews. They told me they were all booked up for the day (Sunday) but could schedule an appointment for Wednesday. I decided to take it.
Luckily, I was able to have a different company come to repair the pipe. Shortly thereafter I realized my heat via my boiler was not working properly. I had not cancelled the appointment with McMahon for Wednesday, but they did not show up. When I called to inquire why no tech showed up they told me they had no record of my appointment, but they would call me the following day.
On Thursday, I received a voicemail and called back to get a window. They let me know my window was between 12-4, but would likely be after 2. A little after 3 I hadn't heard anything so I called to confirm they were still coming. The woman told me they would not be coming and denied the appointment. She even went to listen to the recording of my call that morning and then just apologized that they agreed to a time slot.
I completely understand things are incredibly busy, but I have twice now cancelled/rearranged my plans to be home during my set window to have someone no show. They should not be committing to time slots or making appointments and then no showing. At a minimum they should be making courtesy calls as soon as possible when they know they cannot make it instead of me needing to continually chase them. I would not recommend them to anyone as clearly their scheduling system (or lack there of) is a mess.

I am very happy with this company. They answered the phone which doesn’t sound like a lot but when you have water running down your wall that sure beats an answering machine and a callback 4 hours later. The work was professional and knowledgeable.

I’ve used McMahon Plumbing and Heating for a variety of plumbing and heating jobs at my home through the years. They always do a solid job and are friendly. Recently, my heating system broke during a cold spell. I called and a technician came out later that morning. Unfortunately, my heating system required more than a quick fix. However, the technician who came out was able to temporarily fix the problem so that I would not have to vacate my home for the evening. Later that afternoon, the company called me to explain my options (what needed to be done/pricing) as well as schedule a follow up appointment. The next morning, a technician came back and finished the job. Before leaving, the technician asked for me to do a series of tests just to make sure the problem was fixed. I highly recommend using this company!

Only completed half the job of replacing water heater. When the job got difficult (removing the old water heater), they became non-responsive to our phone calls and treated us horribly because they felt that they deserved an upcharge.

My experience with this company was amazing. Having had unresolved issues with my HVAC it was wonderful to have a professional technician evaluate, service and have my system up and running perfectly within hours. This company seems to be about taking advantage of the customer. We were in a pinch due to a problem with an old permit we had to close before we sold our condo. The work had already been done, we closed the old permit and since we were selling our condo very soon we just needed someone to pull a permit and be here when the inspector came to do the inspection. They quoted me $1,000.00 for this! If you want to deal with a company that takes advantage of people and tries to price gauge then these are the people for you however, they are not for us!!

I am returning here to change my review as I have since been reached out to by McMahon over the phone and asked for honest feedback after I posted my original review. I have realized they do hold an honest commitment to serving the customer . I originally had reviewed McMahon and given 1 star.

My original assessment of the company came after I had used the company in two cases, to fix a broken shower valve and fix a circulator pump. In both cases, they had to come back a second time as problems arose from their original work job. I understand that mistakes are made and also that sometimes the part they use from the manufacturer may just turn out to be faulty. In both cases they came back and fixed the job with no additional charge. I think most of my original frustration came from the additional hassle of having to have them come out a second time in both cases.

However, my opinion has changed for the most part. After my original (not so kindly worded) review, I got a call from Mr. McMahon himself. He was very calm and receptive over the phone, stating he was disappointed that I had the experience I had and that he wanted to know what he could do to make it right. He listened to my criticism and took it kindly. He let me know that he hoped that there is always an honest dialogue with the customer, and that if the customer is disappointed they just reach out to him directly. My follow up conversation with Mr. McMahon was very good and convinced me in their commitment to ensuring the customer has a good experience.

We had an emergency with our Water Heater and had Adam there within an hour and a half. He was a efficient, courteous, and explained the problem to us very clearly. Will definitely use McMahon in the future.

Adam came by for a quick assessment and ended up relocating a steam radiator. They were professional, clean, and very friendly.

I had them come to my place to see what is wrong with my heating system. They charged me 129$ just to come, and they say I need to replace the whole unit because they do not have the motor. I later found the motor with some other company and they were able to fix it. After, McMahon took a deposit of 500$ for the new unit even though I did not want it. When I asked for my money back, they charge me 129$ for coming which is fine, but they still charged me for 198$ because they were making phone calls to find a new motor. Also, they blocked my phone number because I was making phone calls to them to return my money. This is nonsense do not go for this company, they over charge you for nothing.

We had leak in our bathroom tub. We called McMahon Plumbing & Heating for service and they came right away. Adam found the cause of the leak and made the repair. Adam made the repair quickly and explained everything he was doing. If you have any plumbing needs I highly recommend McMahon Plumbing & Heating.
