Best Leak Repairs in Minneapolis MN

We had a cast iron toilet flange that needed to be replaced. He ended up cutting a couple feet of the pipe and replacing it with a new PVC pipe and collar, attached to our existing pipe with a mission band. We also had him replace the shut off valve behind the toilet. He did good work on that and worked pretty fast - a couple of hours of work. The part that we didn't like was that he was very pushy when he tried to sell us a new toilet. He said ours would leak (it never has and still hasn't since). The problem is that the toilet he offered us was an American Standard Cadet 3 for $695. That toilet runs around $200 at home depot. We said no about 4 different times and he was clearly annoyed that we weren't buying it. He even wrote it in the invoice that he highly recommended a new toilet and that if he had to come back to put it on, we'd be charged even more, $795 plus the trip charge. All in all we ended up paying $60 for the trip charge, $100 for the new shut off valve, and $595 for the pipe work/new collar (saw off and remove 2' of old solid metal pipe and replace with pvc). He set the old toilet back on for no charge, no warranty. We're happy with the work, but the whole overpriced and pushy toilet interaction was weird and made us question whether the other pricing was fair.

I asked to install a shutoff valve on the cold water-in to the toilet in a rental property. Then, I wanted them to replace the valve assemby and float valve. The toilet was filling very slowly. Norblom replaced components in the tank, but didnt install a shutoff valve (I found this out later).

Then, I told them to install a new water faucet in the kitchen of the same unit (different appointment). While they were at it, might as well have them install shutoff valves under the kitchen sink, too. This is a 100 year old building that doesnt have modern conveniences. The person I spoke to at Norblom said I'll look into pricing the faucet because they apparently dont carry the type that unit needed (?).

A plumber went in and installed shut off valves under the sink, then left me a message saying he didnt have the parts to repair the faucet. I asked for a new one, not a repair.

I talked with the owner, the most I can offer is an $80 credit. They charge a $97 minimum, plus parts and any labor over 30 min. I've already paid $400 for the minimal work they've done. I'm not paying more. I found a guy on Craigslist that did everything I wanted that Norblom didnt, and perfect quality work, for much less $$.

Called 1am on 11/12/18 and got told we would get a call back for the emergency electrician, didn't get a call until 7:30 to schedule an appointment. Seeing it's Minnesota, our house is freezing. We believe our electricity went out around 10:30-11:30pm on 11/11/18. We ended up calling someone else who won't be out until later this morning. If you say you are an emergency electrician and say dispatch will call for an emergency electrician, then follow through, if your not sending someone at least let the potential client know.

Charged us $100.00 for a service call to attend to a leaky refrigerator. Did not have the needed parts and said they would order and return. 10 weeks and many unreturned phone calls later we gave up and called Thomas Service Company. Thomas Service Company had parts available and fixed frig in under 15 minutes.
Plus Maintenance is unreliable and unprofessional and we would never use them again nor recommend.

I own a small business. We provided Steinkraus with a water meter for a job they were working on. They never paid us for it. We called repeatedly and they said they would pay. Then they said they were done with the job and it was too late for them to pay us. Then, after 2 years they said the meter was too expensive. Very disappointing and unprofessional. Been in business for 8 years and this is the only time a customer hasn't paid. I wouldn't do business with them if I were you. Lots of other plumbers around.
