Best Home Addition in Phoenix AZ

My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

They went the extra mile to make sure it was adorable and exactly what we wanted. What an amazing experience and new Kitchen we walked away with!!! Both friendly and professional would never go anywhere else!!

This was the easiest remodel project we have ever experienced! It was an practical consultation, everything outlined and explained thoroughly! Project manager was in contact with updates, so we knew where things stood at all times!! We were thrilled the project was underway just 5 weeks after our initial consultation!! Jose Munoz and Martin Alvarez were able to finish the remodel in just one day. They worked efficiently, were respectful of our home, and consulted with us during the entire process! We are extremely happy with the whole process! Would recommend them 100%!

We needed the drywall replaced and fisished to match existing wall after laundry room sink installation. Maria repaired the wall and matched the the textured finish EXACTLT! Her work was just amazing. I didn't event have to run the vaccuum afterwards. I recommend TWD and Maria without reservation.

My wife and I really love our new Master bathroom. The craftsman ship was excellent and it turned out exactly how we wanted. The team worked very clean making sure to not leave trash or debris. I really appreciated the high and constant level of communication. We knew who was going to be at the house, when they would arrive, and what was going to be accomplished that day. Overall the best experience with a contractor!!

OUTSTANDING!!!Holtzman and all of there wonderful employees have made our remodel a dream. Everyone we have worked with is highly experienced in the industry, prideful in their work, and personable. They have been honest, straightforward, and fair in pricing. They take the time to understand your priorities and provide council through the decision making process. The craftsmanship has been great, they leave our house in good order every day and are friendly to our dog. We have been so thrilled with the remodel they did on our bathrooms that we signed for our master bath and main home flooring.

Holtzman Professionals: Rob is our sales guy-he is highly experienced, knowledgeable, honest, friendly and easy to work with. Mike is our construction managers- He is on top of it, communicative, so easy to work with and cares about the quality as much as we do. Grace is our design consultant-She has made is so easy to make design selections, is patient and creative.

My wife and I first visited Trinity Remodeling & Home Center on Bell Rd back in late February of this year and we were immediately impressed with their showroom as well as Anthony.

They have a wide selection of cabinets, counter tops, sinks, faucets, hardware and flooring. We continued shopping around but ended up going back to Trinity and working out a deal with Anthony for the cabinets in mid June. They had the best price and service of all the places that we visited and Anthony is an amazing designer and was able to accommodate our needs within the space that we had. We really trusted him and loved the Bridgewood Cabinetry that they have. We ended up purchasing our new Bridgewood Cabinetry because they had the perfect style, finish and construction and warranty for our new kitchen and laundry room.

The delivery of our new cabinets took a while for us to get them because of delays due to the COVID19 but once they arrived Anthony and his crew immediately began the installation of our new cabinets.
Shortly after the cabinets were installed we went back to Trinity to select our new Quartz counter tops. Again, the workmanship was exceptional!! All work was A++

I have used ArDan Construction for multiple jobs at my house over the past 6 years. They did an amazing remodel of the master bathroom in 2014. This past year they converted my attached carport into a garage, and did a bunch of patch up work in my spare bedrooms. With great value, quality, cleanliness, and professionalism, it is tough to find a better person for your home construction needs.

Dan and Danny are a great team and do an amazing job. They are very fast, precise, and neat. We had this father and son duo convert a bathtub into a shower for my mom so it would be easier for her to use and the work they did was even better than we hoped for. Danny was on time everyday and worked very hard to get the job done. He made sure all the tiles lined up and everything was in tip top shape. He would always clean up before he left every night and kept us updated of the timeline. We definitely recommend these guys and would use them again for any other projects we may have in the future.

Veny came out to give us a price for the bathroom and we ended up not only remodeling the bathroom , but the kitchen as well.I highly reccommend this company and the best part they give free estimates! My husband and I hired Ben from Champion Remodel. Ben and his team gave us the quality we were hoping for. We are very pleased with the results. We hired him to re-do our kitchen, 2 bathrooms and all the flooring throughout the entire first floor. All of the finishes were purchased by us and Ben put the whole job together! Kitchen countertop project: I put together a general scope of work for my project. Every contractor that bid this was working from the same set of requirements. CustomCreative was the only contractor who both understood and improved the SoW before making their proposal. Their bid was realistic and extremely competitive. Terms were fair. Praveen (owner) also indulged my desire to clarify the final contract with more details. This was a very good sign. Their office is in Scottsdale, my home is in Sun City West....no problem - they're happy to do business with far west metro customers. All of their craftsmen are terrific; skilled and easy to work with. Project communication was top notch and I could not be happier with the final results. The Legacy team went above & beyond in remodeling my master bathroom & home.

Legacy’s design team of Debbie & Jeremy helped me select materials & fixtures that worked with the existing character of my home to bring the looks together. The rendering Jeremy did helped me see how the space could be reconfigured & added touches that I never would have thought of that did not measurably impact the cost; they were small items such as a different placement/curvature of a wall & different type/placement of a drain. The thoughtful initial design really made a difference in the final product.

Craig was the superintendent & was fantastic. He handled any issues that came up during the remodel. Craig also, in overseeing the day-to-day work & trades, brought up small tweaks that, again, didn’t really impact the cost but made a big difference to the final look & functionality of the space. He really understood what I was looking for & had awesome ideas that the professional tradesmen & Legacy’s inhouse master carpenters were able to implement right on the spot, such as a different way to light our new sauna incorporating a hard-wired switch, complete with a stained glass effect & creating a built in look for my sauna. Craig also spent weekends working on making my master closet exactly what I wanted and beautiful too (solid pine). I really appreciated Craig’s technical expertise & making my remodel flow smoothly.

Legacy’s inhouse professionals were truly hard working experts at their crafts. Scott, Floyd, Steve & Greg made everything just look gorgeous & also mentioned little things they could do to really make things come together. Scott & Floyd, along with Craig, spent a lot of time creating my master closet & getting the shelving semicircle look/functionality I was going for, including Scott creating a wrap rod design. Additionally, extra matching solid wood around my sauna was added to enhance the look & even the relatively small tasks, such as making baseboard pieces such that they curve around a wall, were done incredibly beautifully by Scott. Floyd created 4 more build in closets made of solid wood that are very sturdy & maximize the closet space. He also installed my front door & master bath cabinets. They look phenomenal & most importantly, work perfectly. I believe many companies can procure nice materials but, without expert installation, it may not be quite right or not hold up well over time. The last two inhouse professionals were Steve & Greg. Steve took great care to make sure things were done how I wanted them, even small things such as hooks at an optimum height & configuration. Greg installed my half wall cabinets in my living room & made them look elegant with the way he built out the baseboards. The inhouse Legacy experts brought out the materials & design to their full potential.

In addition to the folks directly employed by Legacy, they work with a great network of skilled tradesmen. I was really happy with everyone who came into my home. Everything looks flawless, especially the tile work for my shower bench & built-ins. Ken painted my home inside out & made the walls look better than they were before by patching & fixing them, even items I had not noticed before. Everything he did makes my home look polished. Ken also put in/designed a new gate for me that is really stunning as it has an aged wood look.

On a practical aspect, Legacy also made sure that the materials were up to par. They sent my new front door back to the manufacturer twice because it did not meet their standards. It gave me piece of mind that they were making sure things were done correctly, even if I might never have noticed it.

Lastly, on a personal note, all of the Legacy folks were really great to have in my home & were always very flexible with an eye towards making everything about my remodel perfect. Legacy took the initial idea of what I wanted for my remodel & made it something really extraordinary.

Working with Maxum Design and Construction has been great. When I was worried my rain shower was not high enough Taylor and John came out within a half hour to discuss. Great response! Designs are awesome! ADA compatible; I have MS. I love the quality execution by construction crew led by James.

Best Company we hired by far/ Highly competent and professional company were have ever hired. Mike provided constant oversight and communicated project status on a regular basic. We like the fact that this was a family owned business. The owners are so professional. We received calls from Judy asking how are project was going and always made sure we were happy. If there were any issues or if she could help with anything along the way. Their employees are top notch. Each one of them took care of our home like it was there own. clean and professional in every way. The workmanship and quality you wont find better any were. This company was terrible! - they sent out a representative to our home - we spent two hours discussing the details of putting in French doors with a fairly young yet informative young man. I get a phone call the very next day and put on a speaker, and this man identifies himself as the Sales Manager and interrogates me with questions regarding the project, then proceeds to share their operational problems and to let us know their employee quit and they can't honor our project that we all know the price can't be beat. Of course I was puzzled and feeling pretty upset by this point. The comments went back and forth and things got a little heated. I requested to speak to the owner. Then the owner calls my husband and get's into a heated discussion regarding ethics. In all our years - we have never had a company treat us rudely and unprofessionally such as this.

Stronghold Remodeling brought our dreams and ideas to life. Trevor’s attention to detail and positive attitude was a joy to work with. Remodeling projects can be very stressful, however, not with Stronghold.

I have worked with Atelier 507 on several projects. I have had nothing but positive experience with them. The team has worked very fast and completed everything within a very short time frame which was very vital for me. They were there every step of the way always answering any questions I had. They really understood what I wanted and brought European flair to my design. The attention to detail was absolutely top-notch! Erika and her team remodeled our house in north Scottsdale. She was always on time, offered design input when needed, and managed the project even while I was remote.
