They helped lighten up and modernize a small space guiding us through the proposal, design and construction phases seamlessly. Homework Remodels Bathroom Remodeling
My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

Re-Bath HQ Bathroom Remodeling
Our recent shower installation by Rebath was not the same excellent experience as our previous one, 1 year ago.
A couple of months ago, Rebath removed an old jet tub and old shower then installed a new custom, walk-in shower with bench in our master bathroom. They told us it would take 3 days. It took 6 days. Plus, another week because they dropped one of our glass doors during installation and had to order another one. Plus, we had to get them back out 2 more times for a leak in the wall and a shower head that would not stop running. I do give Dale kudos for coming out and fixing everything right and as quickly as he could. We had absolutely not one problem with our first Rebath shower installation, and it took 2.5 days to complete.

Re-Bath and Kitchens Bathroom Remodeling
We had 2 bathrooms remodeled and both have turned out amazing; we truly could not be any happier. We first met with Deborah Crawford to go over what we wanted to happen and to pick out our new bathroom items. She was very knowledgeable about the products and was patient with us to the end. Her suggestion of the Cobalt Blue vanity was spot on. She even swung by to take a peek at the progress. Our Remodel Technician, Cody Jett-Logan, did such a fantastic job on everything. His attention to detail fit perfectly with mine, making it all look wonderful. The grab bars in both showers are at the same height, as are the shower heads to name a few examples which are details I take notice of. He made sure to cover all work areas and then made sure all was cleaned up before leaving each day. Any issues he came up against were brought to our attention immediately, and he always had a solution. He is very professional and courteous, and his work shows his knowledge and expertise. Our project got extended by 2 days, but that is due to having a 50 yr old house (plumbing). I totally appreciate Cody taking the time to do the job correctly and not rushing to meet a deadline. Cody kept in daily contact with us, from arrival times to pictures and updates on progress. We never had to reach out or ask a lot of questions.First bath had a tub removed and a walk-in shower with glass doors installed. Single piece walls with corner shelves replaced tile & grout and had the shower head raised 20 inches so everyone in the house can enjoy it without having to bend down. Both the toilet and vanity were replaced; my Cobalt Blue vanity looks so good against my Fuji Blue walls (think tropical). A recessed medicine cabinet was removed and filled in since the vanity has drawers. Brushed nickel fixtures and new baseboards finished off the hall bath.In the master bath, the 3/4 shower now has floor to ceiling walls and new basin, replacing tile and grout walls and basin. The vanity was replaced as was the flooring and baseboards. There was a recessed medicine cabinet in here as well that was removed and the hole filled in. Bronze fixtures round out the finishing of the master bath. Just let me tell you, floor to ceiling walls make my walk-in shower look so much bigger! We love it, we love the hall bath. All of it!Thank you to Deborah for walking us through this whole process. And a big Thank You to Cody for such an amazing job, we couldn't be happier!

Sunset Tile & Bath Bathroom Remodeling
Sent a request for a shower rennovation quote on their website. A few days later I get an email telling me they only work in the north valley, citing east valley cities they wont do work like Gilbert, Mesa, etc. I respond with my location in the west valley-not sure if I’m “north” enough for them but either way I expected at least the courtesy of a response of either they wont work in my area or they will. A week later, still no response. Also, when they first responded they said their first opportunity for a quote would be Feb 20, 3 weeks out from my request. I guess they don’t need the work. Wouldn’t hire them now just for being rude and unprofessional.

Their glass guy put in flawed glass and we can't get them to come fix it even though they keep saying they have the new glass. Paid a lot to have a sad looking me shower. Would not recommend them.

UPDATE: So glass company replaced one panel and it had a chip in it. Tried to buff out other flawed panel but was unable to make it look better. They also did not replace damaged hinge. Installers did not speak English so hard to communicate with them. They just shrugged their shoulders and left. Down to 1 star.

Todd Whittaker Drywall Inc. Bathroom Remodeling
I contacted Todd Whittaker Drywall, Inc. (TWD) regarding an estimate on the removal of 7 rooms of acoustic (popcorn) ceilings and the repair, retexturing and painting of them in addition to the remodeling of a bathroom. The proposal was reasonable and was returned in a timely manner.
The whole process was organized and well planned. I was informed of what to expect to be done each day. The supervisor of my project kept me apprised of everything, and there was also an App available to me to refer to regarding the schedule. My supervisor, Juan, was so impressive. He guided and advised me courteously, respectfully and patiently throughout the process and was instrumental in solving any unforeseen issue that would arise. He was promptly responsive to any question or concern.
The TWD staff and their subcontractors were considerate and professional, friendly and polite, and provided great customer service. All workers were reliable, skilled, hardworking and friendly. As you can imagine, it was a dusty, messy project. Everything was draped and covered, and the cleanup was remarkable both daily and at the completion of the project. All ceiling fans were either reinstalled or replaced with new ones. Francisco handled that chore with remarkable patience given problems he encountered with wrong size or missing screws (totally the fault of the manufacturers) not to mention vaulted ceilings.
TWD proved to be a very professional and reliable company. They made the whole process painless. I would highly recommend them to others and would definitely use them again myself. I was extremely pleased with the outcome of my project.

Rise Above Remodeling Bathroom Remodeling
We reached out to this Rise Above by referral, and they came out to our home, measured, and spent a lot of time understanding our needs, which are all rather basic: media wall, small guest bath remodel, and tile flooring. We kept getting promises of we'll gt back to you in a few days over and over, and then after a month, Colton claims, I am in NY till next Tuesday. I was getting double checked on what I want to put together for your wall... as soon as I get my double check approx, I will let you know.. Another week goes by w/ nothing, then Colton promised that they will shoot you the numbers by Friday. Fri came and went, and after another week, Colton emails,... we are going to pass on your home project. A lot of the changes you are asking for are just not our specialty...

What??! They said onsite in our home that this is exactly what they specialize in, and it is all very basic.

Update: Spoke w/ Bret who noted there may have been an attitude issue (Colton's??) and would personally come out to our home to review, and confirm who is blowing smoke. That was days ago, and Bret has failed to contact us as he promised.

We're very frustrated ...Rise Above wasted a lot of our time, and now we have to start all over. Don't waste your time w/ Rise Above.
