Our service tech was friendly. He was knowledgeable and told us what need to be repaired. The price range of the cost.

I had to severely limit the specifics of my situation in order to fit the character limit here unfortunately, but here goes....my AC was blowing not so cold air. I called a Howard Air tech out. He hooked up his gear, and told me I needed refrigerant (shocker). I said, ok but why? do I need it. Is there a leak? You haven't even seen the upstairs air handler yet, do you want to check the attic? Well, if you want me to do a leak check, that will be an additional $230 to what you have already paid to have me out, and going into the attic isn't going to tell me anything more than I already know. So he put the refrigerant in (8lbs worth) after telling me that it shouldn't take more than 4 or 5. And guess what? It didn't fix the issue at all. So then he recommended that we do a leak check for the extra $230. I told him that I was trying to figure out how a leak check was going to help me at this point, when there is already 8lbs of refrigerant in there and the readings never changed. i also informed him that I was not going to pay $800 for refrigerant. He told me that he would only charge me for 3lbs, which was actually the only good thing about this visit. I heard him on the phone with someone multiple times during the visit, and it was clear that he had no idea what was going on with my unit. So I paid the bill $387 and called out Williams Mechanical. The technician from Williams was shocked that the previous tech never went into the house at all to look at the air handler. After hearing about the refrigerant, he went up there first. In five mins he saw that the blower motor was burned out. He brought one from his truck, replaced it and then had to go downstairs and remove refrigerant from the line becuse the previous technician had severely overcharged it. Which means...I paid Howard Air almost $400 to come out and cause more problems than were there from the start. So, I contacted Howard Air (Justin Hathaway), told him my situation, sent him the invoice from Williams Mechanical and told him that I would like the refrigerant refunded. He said he would look into it, and then ghosted me completely. I then sent this issue over to our sales person Scott Byrd and let him know what was going on (hoping for some help and professional courtesy since we have invested over $40k with this company in the past)....to my dismay....no response. Not even the courtesy of an explanation. Because, quite frankly there is no explanation for this. So instead of getting back to me and working with me, they just chose to ignore me. I have already seen issues about Justin on previous reviews here, so I guess it is not a total surprise, but this was a huge disappointment to me. If they treat a customer of more than a decade like this, what chance do you have as a newbie? I would steer clear of this company going forward, something has clearly changed. Give Williams Mechanical a call, great customer service by a smaller company that still apparently cares about its customers, not just making a buck.

Update - 3 months later, nobody called or cared. This is just an auto-responder below that the company puts in place.

I would strongly recommend without reservation, Scott, Cody and the team of service/installation techs at SMW Refrigeration and Heating for all your A/C and heating needs. They were part of my 2015-2016 major home renovation/addition. SMW was involved in sizing, laying out, installing, and testing that it worked correctly, a totally new, 20 SEER HI Efficiency Heat Pump 7 Ton system in my home.This included: reviewing my blue prints, meeting with me to discuss my needs and reviewing and recommending thick foam insulation and energy star windows to reduce power costs, discussing zoning the system for better efficiency and comfort along with explaining in simple terms how the 20 SEER variable speed TRANE A/C units would work at different speed levels to ensure maximum comfort and efficiency. They have excellent techs who worked in concert with my general contractors renovation schedule to install the ducts very thoroughly. Basically I got a whole house new system from them which runs like a well oiled Mercedes.With this company you get a seasoned, honest, veteran installer/tech/troubleshooter with a super technical mechanical engineer, when put together, creates an unsurpassed leadership team that correctly manages their smart, clean, and polite techs, to provide a TRUE TEAM that gets the project done correctly, on budget, and on time. I was honestly so impressed, I had them install 4 more replacement Air Conditioner heat pumps at a rental complex I own.America is built on small business and SMW Refrigeration & Heating should be your go to A/C and heating company! They know our valley climate and sell the best, TRANE! I cannot even tell when mine is on, it is so QUIET.......Come see my 20 SEER TRANE system. Just get my # from Scott or Cody and call me to see a 20 SEER variable speed, 7 ton TRANE system in action this summer. I am really proud of this company. They were my #1 sub contractor on my extensive, home renovation/remodel and I never worried about their work quality during the 7 month project.

Salesman rang my doorbell at 4:15pm with a DO NOT RING DOORBELL sign ON THE DOORBELL. Dogs barking, baby wakes up crying, continues to knock on the door. Way to get your name out there.

This company offers such a wide array of services that it makes it very convenient to have one contractor be able to handle your HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs on one visit for a whole home improvement. It is a huge hassle to have to coordinate estimates with various time windows from multiple contractors.

Lauren was amazing. After having two other plumbers try and clear out a clogged tub and sink drain and be unsuccessful, Lauren from Valleywide Plumbing came out and got it cleared out in less than an hour. She was also very friendly and professional. I highly recommend her and Valleywide.

Can’t say enough great things about their quick response and willingness to come out diagnose, and fix my broken A/C after the first 100 degree day in Phoenix. Highly professional, knowledgeable, exceptional work, prompt, friendly, and most importantly trustworthy. So thankful I was led to this company. Definitely recommend them to anyone with an HVAC need.
