Wish I could give zero stars. We had a residential AC unit replaced today, 5 employees arrived at 7 am and they were still working on it until 8 pm. I put my entire day on hold thinking they did the job I finally left the house for 1 hour. Upon returning home the AC isn't functional, the filter they taped on because they didn't have a proper sized one fell off, and the thermostat is completely unresponsive with no power going to it. After 13 hours of extreme discomfort and exacerbating my heart condition in the heat I called them for assistance. Was told I would be hearing from a dispatcher in 10 mins. An hour later, it didn't happen so I call again. They sent a second message to dispatch at midnight and now it's 6:30 am with no response. Any claims of 24 HR emergency repair is a lie. This is after months of trying to get this unit up and running. First time they promised to pump the unit to give us relief they also failed to execute. It's taken at least 6 visits to our residence and over 8 Howard staff to .... not replace an air conditioner lmao. Definitely in the top 2 worst customer service experiences of my life.

I hired Howard Air to replace my VERY old A/C unit. I had looked at other places, but was not satisfied and one didn’t even call me back. From the first interaction to the subsequent phone calls, scheduling, consultation, survey and actual installation, I have absolutely zero complaints. I believe that they take complete pride in their work, especially installations and it shows! They really took their time and made sure everything was working as it should and stayed until the job was done. I don’t think that I had a super straight forward installation due to the age of the unit either. They even had to come back out to remedy a wiring issues (again, very old AC), and Scott was an angel and got everything completed.
Every single person I interacted with was extremely nice and courteous, they answered all questions that I had and were just insanely delightful to work with. This was my first time having something like this done, and I felt extremely comfortable with the entire process. Thank you, Howard Air for making this a very easy and comfortable process!

Michael found & did some rewiring & installed a new thermostat to resolve our 3 day intermittent heating issue. He did minimal cuts in the drywall for the rewiring & did a good job cleaning up. We are happy to have heat again!

I set an appointment for an estimate. The guy flaked out. Luckily I was working at home and didn’t take time off but c’mon!
I get that in an AZ summer there are REAL emergencies & an estimate might not be an emergency BUT what if it were?!
Maybe if you’re going to call Howard Air- have a backup plan- just in case!

I would like to commend Stephen of Howard Air for fixing an Air Conditioning Issue. Stephen was professional and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the issues. He is articulate and demonstrated his expertise. He made sure I understood the issues and told me exactly how he would fix it. I was very impressed with Stephen and would recommend him highly for HVAC repairs. Howard Air is fortunate to have employees like Stephen.

So I’ve used Howard air for a few years now since moving into my house. They have been good for awhile with good communication, help, etc. This last maintenance plan visit has changed my mind and can’t work with them any longer. I had to apparently replace a 60 + 5 MFD Dual Run Capacitor. They charged me $250 for this.

So after there visit, I asked what the brand and model was. Took about a week to get that information and when I did, I looked it up and it’s like a $25 part. So they basically charged me $225 for labor which took the guy 15 minutes to do. So 15 minutes of work for $225. They are not transparent on their billing and what they charge for the part and what they charge for the labor. I have been trying to get a refund for my care renewal pre-payment since then and I can’t even get anyone on the phone anymore. If you do work with them, I would try and just get that information up front, that’s my only advice.

I signed up for their monthly program since I have a home out of state and one in verrado I believe in warranties thus preventive checks and service seemed like a good idea. Well the rest of the story, every time they came something was wrong couldn't just get the system looked at with out paying hundreds of dollars, then last month came for routine service wasn't blowing cool enough and it was deemed coil was bad this time cost of replacement $4800.00, well I just had one replaced on a 5 ton for a fraction of that cost at my home in Florida thus I asked how much to replace the entire unit? Quote was $12000 - $15000, at that time I discontinued my monthly agreement with them and hired Sorensen Heating and AC, under 10k to replace entire unit, job was done in less than a day with brand new York 16 Seer unit. Howard AC should be ashamed of themselves High priced, service is done by a bunch of criminals looking for the next easy big buck hit. STAY AWAY from this company there are much better AC companies out there.

Our technician was very professional, quickly discovered and rectified our problem and completely checked out our A/C system all for one very reasonable service call visit. We've had two very good experiences with Howard Air over the past couple of years and wished we would have used them to install our new system! It would have saved us the first service call, if we would have! Live and learn, they will be our A/C service provider in the future without question.

We initially contacted Howard Air to install an aging AC unit that was still operating just fine. We were replacing the unit because of its age and because we were looking to reduce energy consumption with a newer more energy efficient unit. In 2 years we have had multiple issues with the unit. Howard Air charges to have a technician diagnosis a system they recently installed and insist that it is not uncommon for a new unit to stop working. Our existing unit was 15 years old, and we had never called a technician to repair/service it. In addition, since the installation of the new unit we have seen our energy consumption increase compared to the old unit, this is the amount of electricity we consume as reported by the electric company. This company does not stand by the products they sell. I would not recommend purchasing any product from them.

I am a facility manager and have a site that howard air replaced about 9 split systems on. They were 40% more expensive than other competitors forst off. 2ndly they have horrible response time for emrrgencies during the summer. Im sure their high rating is from residential homes where the home owners are just happy to get a broken system working during the summer panic. However if you ha e a commercial siye stay aaay from them. They will tell you about warranty etc and then when the system does go down they will push you off until its convenient. My site is 24/7 and we must have everything up and running. Called in an emergency friday at about 3pm. They said they cant make it till monday. Unnacceptable. I will never use them for anything. If your a commercial customer and need things taken care of use Coolsys. They have always solved my problems and they are 40 bucks an hour cheaper.

After being a very satisfied customer with a Carrier infinity heat pump for 6 years, it failed. Carrier's design fault- NOT HOWARDS. Howard REPLACED the entire unit. They are the most honest and reputable company I have ever dealt with. My experience with them- the high quality of their technicians- the entire organization is flawless. Best in Phoenix/Scottsdale.

AC was broken. Waited around in the heat for the 5 hour window that they provided. At the end of the 5 hour window, I called and they said no one was coming because someone made an error in the system. Incredibly unprofessional. Huge waste of time. Do not use.

First experience with Howard Air was this past weekend after our usual guy didn’t call me back. I was looking for just some standard maintenance/tune up work to keep my ac working great as the weather starts to warm up. The technician called me when he was about an hour out and while he worked on our unit he kept us informed throughout the process showing us pictures before and after. The service plan was a very reasonable price and the few additional minor fixes on our unit were reasonable as well. Based on service and price we will definitely continue to use Howard Air.

Howard Air is an amazing company. We had our air conditioner blow up at the end of August/beginning of September late in the afternoon. It was hot and they were the only company able to send someone out without over charging. Unfortunately we needed a new system, but they worked quickly to get us a loaner until our system could be put in. Everyone we worked with at the company is amazing. Tonight we came home around 6:00 to find our air wasn't working again. We called them and they had a technician out right away and he stayed until 8:30 fixing our thermostat. Everyone there is courteous and honest. Best company I have had to deal with in a long time. I would recommend them to anyone!

I heard about Howard Air on 92.3. They came out to the house, and evaluated the condition of my unit. They replaced the capacitor without providing me with a quote or getting my authorization to proceed with the repair. I met up with the technician after the work was already completed and he gave me a verbal quote of $230 but said he needed to write it up. A few minutes later he was at my door with a written quote of $350. This was way more than I was expecting. Howard air took 20 minutes to replace a $30 part and charged me $350. I feel that price is unreasonable and so I would not recommend Howard Air and will not use their services in the future.

Howard Air has been wonderful to work with. Our main AC unit had a melt down and needed to be replaced in August the day before we were to leave on vacation. Howard Air installed a loaner unit that ran for the two months while we were gone. We had two new units installed in November and are grateful for the professionalism that all employees we came in contact with displayed. Steven our rep was knowledgeable, understanding and professional, he listened and addressed all of our concerns. The service crew that installed our new units were all efficient, conscientious,and detail oriented. They were on time for every appointment; truly a customer oriented top notch company.

I'm writing this review to warn others against doing business with Howard Air. If you decide to use them, you will overpay for parts you do not need, overpay for any new system, and have to deal with deceitful techs and high pressure sales people.

At the end of April, my A/C would not turn on. After some Google searching I had a Howard Air tech come out. There ended up being a lose wire, but the tech insisted on installing a capacitor, even though the old one was still working. Since the visit and capacitor would be charges, he talked me into signing a one-year service agreement for over $430.

Well a little over two months later, the A/C stopped blowing cold air. Another tech came out, and immediately started with the sales pressure of buying a new unit. He determined it would be $1500 to fix it, but it I agreed to buy a whole new system, they would fix it for free while I waited 3 weeks for a new install. This was another red flag. I asked him to give me a copy of the diagnosis, and he said it would be emailed to me. It never was. I called the next day asking, and it was still never sent.

A few hours later, a Howard Air sales rep comes out to discuss a new system. He immediately starts trying to find unnecessary extra costs to add on. Even though the last A/C ran just fine for 20 years, he was trying to tell me the air intakes are not big enough, etc. Either way, it's not pleasant to live here in the summer without A/C. The sales person starts talking about a lot of extras I'll get, which I later found out are now required code by any installer and included regardless. He finishes up and tells me I'll have the quotes that night. He did not send the quotes until the following evening.

By this time, I had find a different company to come out. They were much more honest, $1300 less for the same system, included a variable speed blower fan, and were able to install it the next day.

After my install, I called Howard Air to cancel my service agreement (I paid for a year and used less than three months). I expected the two service calls not to be reimbursed, but of course they found all sorts of excuses not to give me any money back.

At the end of the day, it cost me a couple hundred dollars, but at least I'll never have to deal with this greedy company again.

Howard air was great. Our initial consultant was Tanner. He did an excellent job explaining the entire process and had a lot of knowledge both about the company and system we were looking at installing. One thing that stood out was the lack of pressure he put us. He provided all of the information and we asked for some time to think about it. Without hesitation he said ok. Rob and Abel, the installers were awesome. They showed up on time and communicated with us about the start of the install and when they would expect to be finished. I would recommend Howard Air to anyone that is in the market for a new AC system. We were more worried about the quality of service when shopping and i believe with Howard Air we found what we were looking for. Thank you Howard Air and all of the people working there.

Installation of two new a/c units with air handlers. George, Carlos and Jordan were excellent, the three guys got both units installed in a day, they were very professional, clean, friendly and did a great job. Arrived on time and explained process and new system thoroughly. Estimator/salesman - Gary was also very professional, knowledgeable and one of the reasons we decided to use Howard Air.

I just received great service from Juan Carlos Perez who came to our home to check on the ac. I asked him to check on something that I forgot to ask at first after he brought his ladder back to the truck. Without hesitation, he went back to the truck, brought in his ladder, and went back up into the hot attic. This was my first experience with Howard Air (and Juan) and will definitely call them again. Great service today!

I could not be more pleased with our experience with Howard Air. We had 4 different AC companies out to bid on our project. The old ac was about 30 years old, in a tight space and would require a platform to be rebuilt to replace. Tanner was very thorough in setting the project plan, he came out a second time to meet with us because we had additional questions. It never felt like we were bothering him, it was clear he wanted us to have a good experience.
Day of install- The team that came out (Caesar and David) were amazing! There were a few complication on the job because of the above mentioned tight space they were dealing with. They were professional and stayed until the job was completed, even ensuring we knew how to work the new thermostat and that it was properly connected to our network.
Overall I feel that we got the right product and service for our home and every interaction the Howard Air went above and beyond their competition. I would highly recommend Howard Air.

My husband and I had several different companies in for quotes when our air conditioner died on us. We chose Howard Air because they were very detailed in explaining to us how everything worked. They were professional as they kept our old machine running no matter how many times they had to come out during the waiting period for our new machine to get installed. We had Howard Air install a ductless mini-split AC system in our garage. I am generously giving it three stars, since the work appears to be of good quality so far. Unfortunately, it has taken them many visits more, and a FULL MONTH longer, than expected. Some of that was due to changes to Mitsubishi's product, and much of it was due to poor communication and coordination among Howard Air people. The upshot for us is that we've had to rearrange our schedules for several weeks to accommodate many more days of workers in our home than expected, and I've been without the use of the garage workshop for a month, during a peak time of expected use. Now that the project is finally nearing completion the seasons have changed!

To add to my irritation, I'm having to now spend a LOT of time cleaning up after their work. They have left a coating of fine white powder (from drywall) over EVERYTHING in our garage. I'm having to individually clean every wrench, screwdriver, cord, battery, hinge, drawer handle, nail, glove, rubber mat, etc. etc. by hand. Thousands of items to move out, clean and move back in. It's wearing on my nerves, and on my air compressor! I'll probably never get it all.

We always request, service technician, David Smith. We have found him extremely knowledgable and he cleans up after the service. I will start by saying that the service from Howard Air was great. I was able to get them to come out same day on a Sunday when my A/C broke down. They did, however charge $142 for the trip charge. My issue with the company is on their pricing. It was found that the run capacitor needed to be replaced. The part online costs under $20 and Howard air charges $218. This price does include installation which takes less than 5 minutes. Last time I had this part replaced it cost me close to $200 including the part and trip charge. With Howard Air I paid $360 for the exact same service.
If you are in a pinch and need service immediately, by all means use Howard Air. If you are able to shop around though, you will find that they are very expensive compared to other service companies.

I was called and reminded of my set appointment the day before and Chris, the technician, called me about 20 minutes before he arrived. Professional and on time. My system is original so it’s old, but Chris thoroughly checked it out and instead of trying to sell me a new unit, he suggested a replacement of one part and said the system was just fine. When I do need a new unit I most definitely will be in touch with Howard Air.

I first heard about Howard Air several years ago on KTAR radio. When I called them that spring to do a check on my system, they came out on a Saturday to accommodate my schedule and sent a great tech that did a thorough job of cleaning my unit's condenser coils, crawling around my attic to verify the air handler control unit had a relay that may need to be replaced soon (previous repair by another company) and offering some tips on keeping my 20+ year old unit running.
Fast forward two years and I decided to have Howard Air out for a consultation since now was the time to replace my old AC unit. Ted came out and met with me for several hours. He was very professional and detailed, and even took a video of my equipment in the attic. He explained some things that could have been causing the unit to run less efficiently for it's life and also what Howard Air could do to improve on these things as well as some of the innovations that Howard Air offers the other company's don't. After seeing some of the prices on the units for install I was hesitant to proceed, but ultimately decided to go with Howard Air for several reasons; including advice from my father who used another competing company for his new AC install, the reputation and warranty of Howard Air and the financing options they offered. I did appreciate Ted cutting our meeting short for another appointment I had that evening to come back the next morning when my wife was home to finish up additional measurements in the attic.
Only two short weeks later I had George and David at my house on a Saturday for the removal of my old unit and the install of my new system. The two gentlemen did a wonderful job with each technician working to help each other out as they tackled each phase of the job. I was impressed by George's overall knowledge and how well he was able to setup the air handler, heat furnace and other parts inside my attic. He also helped guide me through easily using the new wireless thermostat. David put a lot of effort into routing my copper wire and electrical connections the way I wanted and even offered some advice about placement of the unit so there would be less vibrations of the cabling as it was running. I couldn't be happier about the entire job the two of them completed and if I only dealt with George and David alone, that would make me a customer for life with Howard Air. Thank you both!
I'm grateful for the way I was treated from Howard Air, including the first time I had contact with them to after my new AC unit has been installed.
It's been almost a month since my install and now the weather is starting to heat up a bit. I'll be looking forward to having my unit kick on to cool down the house now - Thanks Howard Air!

I have used Howard Air for a six month maintenance program for a couple of years now, and am thoroughly satisfied! They show up on time, do the job for a fair price, and are gone. What else is there? Well, they are careful to not leave dirty tracks anywhere, explain whatever they may have found, and always remember to ask if you have questions. Love it!

I agree with all of the good reviews here. We moved to Arizona in 2009 and have used Howard Air ever since for servicing, and a new installation on one occasion. There has never been an occasion when I have thought ' Maybe I'll try somebody else next time '. Professional, quality, service and pricing'- that's Howard Air for me. Have never been without a working system at any time.

I just had my second air conditioning/heating unit installed by Howard Air. I've been using them since 2008 and they have not let me down. Even when something doesn't go as planned they make it right. Their follow through is impressive in this day and age!

Special call out to the installers -- Dammond and George did an amazing job removing the old and installing the new units. Once the install was complete they walked me through the units and how to work all of the features on the thermostat, including web access.

I really appreciated their focus on their work, and their focus on the customer experience. I was kept informed throughout the day, which again, I appreciated. I would highly recommend Dammond and George and the team at Howard Air!

The Howard Air technician called ahead and showed up on time. He was very friendly and professional. He listened to my issues and went right to work. He troubleshot the issues and was able to make adjustments to the A/C system to get it right again. Great customer service!

If you want a company that is reliable, clean, professional, and responsible, you need Howard Air. I have used them for multiple installations and have never been disappointed. They absolutely go out of their way to provide a top quality installation. I had a complete new system including replacement of the duct work, Chris & Todd made several trips to the job site to provide me with the best possible installation even in a very difficult situation with the perverbial really bad remodeling General Contractor.

Great guys and great job! They installed a new Trane HVAC unit on the roof and it is working wonderfully in this 110 degree heat. I have been using Howard air for years to maintain the old HVAC unit so it made sense to buy the new unit from them. Their Sales Rep, Ted Henn, was great to work with. He was very detailed in explaining everything about the install process, options, and costs. The install technicians did a super job cleaning up after themselves, explaining everything about the new system and how to operate the new thermostat. Even how to download the app to my cell phone to remotely operate the thermostat! I recommend Howard Air for any replace or repair!

I had to severely limit the specifics of my situation in order to fit the character limit here unfortunately, but here goes....my AC was blowing not so cold air. I called a Howard Air tech out. He hooked up his gear, and told me I needed refrigerant (shocker). I said, ok but why? do I need it. Is there a leak? You haven't even seen the upstairs air handler yet, do you want to check the attic? Well, if you want me to do a leak check, that will be an additional $230 to what you have already paid to have me out, and going into the attic isn't going to tell me anything more than I already know. So he put the refrigerant in (8lbs worth) after telling me that it shouldn't take more than 4 or 5. And guess what? It didn't fix the issue at all. So then he recommended that we do a leak check for the extra $230. I told him that I was trying to figure out how a leak check was going to help me at this point, when there is already 8lbs of refrigerant in there and the readings never changed. i also informed him that I was not going to pay $800 for refrigerant. He told me that he would only charge me for 3lbs, which was actually the only good thing about this visit. I heard him on the phone with someone multiple times during the visit, and it was clear that he had no idea what was going on with my unit. So I paid the bill $387 and called out Williams Mechanical. The technician from Williams was shocked that the previous tech never went into the house at all to look at the air handler. After hearing about the refrigerant, he went up there first. In five mins he saw that the blower motor was burned out. He brought one from his truck, replaced it and then had to go downstairs and remove refrigerant from the line becuse the previous technician had severely overcharged it. Which means...I paid Howard Air almost $400 to come out and cause more problems than were there from the start. So, I contacted Howard Air (Justin Hathaway), told him my situation, sent him the invoice from Williams Mechanical and told him that I would like the refrigerant refunded. He said he would look into it, and then ghosted me completely. I then sent this issue over to our sales person Scott Byrd and let him know what was going on (hoping for some help and professional courtesy since we have invested over $40k with this company in the past)....to my dismay....no response. Not even the courtesy of an explanation. Because, quite frankly there is no explanation for this. So instead of getting back to me and working with me, they just chose to ignore me. I have already seen issues about Justin on previous reviews here, so I guess it is not a total surprise, but this was a huge disappointment to me. If they treat a customer of more than a decade like this, what chance do you have as a newbie? I would steer clear of this company going forward, something has clearly changed. Give Williams Mechanical a call, great customer service by a smaller company that still apparently cares about its customers, not just making a buck.

Update - 3 months later, nobody called or cared. This is just an auto-responder below that the company puts in place.

Bruce was the tech that came out and he was very professional and more competent than the other company that had been out. He followed through and made sure that our ac was working properly before he left. I have nothing but good things to say about Howard Air. If you need work they should be your go to company!

We have been using Howard Air for years to maintain our Heat Pump. They installed a new system at my mom's home 11 years ago and we had them maintain it ever since and it still runs good for being that old. My husband and I recently bought a home and have the maintenance agreement on our heat pump. They just came out and did their maintenance check and we were told it was running great! That's good to hear because two other companies wanted to replace the air ducts and even the whole unit just a few months ago.

After a bit of research, I called Howard Air for a routine service check of our A/C and heating systems. Brianna was a pleasure to speak with and was able to secure an appointment for the very next day. Terry, the technician, arrived early, was very courteous, performed a comprehensive check of all systems and even fielded a couple bonus A/C guy questions for us - all for the price originally quoted. Tried a different company and got all kinds of bad news. They guy said I needed to replace one of my AC units, the handler and furnace at a cost of over $10,000. I wanted a second opinion so I called Howard Air. Troy ran diagnostics and said one of the units needed a new capacitor. He also found the unit is under warranty. Cost to me was $150. Howard Air is a very honest company. I highly recommend them.

We have been with Howard Air for over 15 years. They have done an excellent job on all maintenance over the years and have come out immediately when our unit was not working.
We recently replaced an old HVAC unit. The technicians, Dammond and George, did a thorough and professional job on the installation. It took them the full day to complete the work. They were very polite and courteous.
In addition, Ted Henn, the Sales consultant, provided great service. He did an excellent job in recommending HVAC units that would best meet our needs.

Tim and I replaced two HVAC units on our home. This is a very expensive system of the home to replace. I had a 19 year old Carrier still running strong but I was worried it would break down on a weekend and would be stuck without AC for me and my two Boston Terriers and my two black cats So I was driving down the 202 listening to KTAR radio when I heard Howard Air's advertisement. What I heard intrigued me, so I called them and I am normally not a trusting person and from the moment I spoke with the lady that answered the phone I felt like I had found my new AC company. She was so sweet and helpful. She connected me with their scheduling lady and once again I was impressed. It gets even better from here. She made an appointment with me to have Jason M. come out on July 1st, Jason was so enjoyable and made my whole buying experience a happy one. He explained everything and then showed me the different units I had to choose from. I wanted to stay with Carrier as I have had Carriers for many years with excellent success. After Jason's visit we set my installation for July 29, 2016. The two men called me 45 minutes out and told me when they would arrive. They were Johnny on the spot! At about 6:30 AM this morning they began the hot job of climbing up in the attic and tending to the things that needed rerouting etc.. My installers were Kyle B. and Terrance K. These two men were awesome! They got my unit in and were even a bit ahead of the time I expected to have it completed. They went above and beyond being careful to make sure neither of my dogs or cats escaped out the door. Then I had to go to see and tend to my horse so the guys stayed here and worked. On my way home I had to pick up a heavy box at Lowes and I am 73 and this package was so heavy there was no way I could dream of getting it out of my truck and into my house. Bless their little hearts they brought it in for me.
They spent a lot of time explaining the thermometer to me and showing me how to set it and so on. And when they got ready to leave they had every single piece of anything picked up. This company is excellent and I am thrilled to have found them. I feel like I matter to them. You won't be sorry hiring Howard Air as they are professionals from the first person you speak with on the phone and all the way to the installers. Thank you Howard Air!!!

On 12/27/2017 we had two Trane units installed on our home. Ted Henn was our sales consultant and he was very knowledgeable about the systems and the procedures to install. I have already recommended Ted and Howard Air to several other neighbors one of which has signed a contract with Howard Air.

I want to acknowledge the teams that installed the systems. They did an excellent job and were very courteous and clean with their install. Jeff came out and did a quality a few days after the job was complete to ensure that everything was done to specifications and that I was happy with the work performed, and I was.

During the install and removal process it was necessary to remove some drywall for the extraction of attic units, everything was covered and tarps were put down so no debris was left behind. Doug the drywall repair guy came out 2 days later and repaired and painted the area and you can't even tell there was work done.

We are very pleased with Howard Air and the whole team that installed our New Trane Systems. I would definitely recommend Team Howard Air to any family and friends in need of a new system.

Worked with Eric again today. Could not ask for a higher quality service technician. He is smart, a very hard worker and is always looking for ways to help.
Btw, Tom is also great. Ex owner under contract...far better than any I have experienced in the past. Usually, ex owners tend to lose interest. Definitely not the case here!

Howard Air stands behind there work!!! A/C unit was installed a year ago and a weld had failed and was leaking refrigerant! Spoke with the service manager Art and the problem was fixed the next day at no charge. Even though I was not the original homeowner. On time and very professional, Howard Air has earned my business for years to come!!!! Very Impressed!

We had our AC / Heat unit replaced by Howard Air about a year ago. Everything about the experience from the sales person, the installers, and the maintenance person was positive. I called a lot of AC places looking for quotes; Howard Air was one place that did not treat me like I had no idea what I was talking about. They gave several options all within our price ranges and worked with us on where we had issues with AC and Heat with the old unit. I'm keeping the maintenance agreement with them and highly recommend.

August in Phoenix. Perfect time for our Trane AC system to finally give up after 23 years. Howard Air had serviced our AC for a few years so I planned to get our first estimate from them. The consultant they sent that same day, Ted, explained options and made the process so easy, I felt totally comfortable just going with them. I'm so glad I did. I knew what to expect on installation day and the installers, Chad and D, were polite, professional and worked REALLY hard from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They hauled so much stuff out of the attic and then even bigger stuff into the attic, without wrecking anything! Replacing an AC system is a nightmare, but Howard Air made it as bearable as possible for me. Thanks!

We came back from being out of town to find that our A/C was blowing hot air. It was a lovely 90 degrees on a midsummer morning. Awful, right?

Howard Air is one of the best businesses I have dealt with in a long while. Our technician was clean, prompt, and worked quickly. He was intuitive and figured out the problem quickly. Before we knew it, our AC was running again! Price was fair and we couldn't ask for anyone better. Other technicians for various services have not been nearly as courteous or effective. Some have been condescending, some have been slow, some have done shoddy work -- NOT Howard Air! Highly recommended!

To start off what brought me to the point where I was looking for a new HVAC, our unit was 19yrs old and original to the house we bought back in August, it was working fine but with the change in refrigerant our system was at the point that replacement was coming so we decided to get ahead of it before the summer. We have 1,800sqft and home was built in 2001 the system was a 4 ton Trane System

I reached out to 3 companies for a price quote, one was named after a state, one was a Carrier dealer and one was Howard Air.

The first company that came out (our largest state) quoted us on a Lennox system, they went over different packages and gave us 3 prices starting at 17K for the lowest and 24K for the highest system. They didn't have very good financing and the prices I have put were to pay in cash, when I ran quick math on the 24K system with their financing it was going to be 34K. I might have been born yesterday but not in the middle of the night! They also were pushing a 10yr service contract with the systems which I felt was a little weird and a lot of extras, $6.5K in extras on the 24K system so if I took out the extras 18K was the true cost of the system. My quote was written on a legal pad paper, they never looked at the furnace in the attic just was a very bad sales process. I felt like I was at a shady used car dealership. Plus they had this weird thing with putting down cash to get the financing, they told me that would go away if I paid cash...I didn't understand this at all because it was like they were adding that into the price which means that 24K system would have been 29K?

The Carrier Dealer never called me back..until a week later and just felt that a quote over the phone was enough, they left me a voicemail. I didn't respond.

Howard Air...they were prompt, professional and on time, Rob quoted me a very fair price as well as went over what they did at Howard Air that sets them apart from the competition. He quoted us on Trane and Carrier. I was very pleased on the pricing and financing that they offered. We signed with Howard Air, the follow-up was great every step of the way, the day of the install we had 3 techs out to do the install. We had them crane in the new unit due to space on on the side of the house..this was extremely smooth. Install was in total of 6hrs for everything. We went with the Trane premium package system. I couldn't say enough about how professional, friendly and responsive Howard Air was during this process, there are a lot of dealers in HVAC in Phoenix but I can tell you give Howard Air a call and compare you won't be sorry. Because of Rob and helping me understand the process of the install, recommendations and expectations that were over exceeded in my opinion during the install they have earned a customer for life and a walking advertisement of how well my install went and how fair the pricing was. Thanks again for a great experience!

Absolutely the most professional group of people!
It was so easy from start to finish on our new air conditioner unit, even with moving to a better spot on the roof. It was finished well ahead of schedule.
It looks incredible and such a clean look now!

Rescued AGAIN by Howard Air – Thanks Tons!!! You have been there for me so many times – With my old home/turned into rental, current home, daughter’s home (new unit), and my home again yesterday – a Sunday! From the answering service, to the office lady who called back with previous paperwork at hand, to the tech – Great Job everyone! Technician Chase thought it was a couple issues – Corrected one and redid diagnostics to find the second possible issue also need to be rectified. All done in less than 5 hours from first call to finish – Greatly appreciate the fantastic service.

Howard Air did a 44 pt check on both of my AC units. Peter was my tech. He was very personable and professional. He did find a Startup Capacitor that was going bad which added an additional expense to my service, but did keep my system operating correctly and dependably. There was a small issue that neither I or the rep caught initially, but Howard was quick to act on it and sent another service rep the next day to deal with it. I've used Howard Air for several years now, and they do an excellent job.

Took the day off work to have scheduled service performed. Had an appointment for 7-noon. I called at 11:50am since no one showed up and they stated the service tech was experiencing cell phone issues. Someone would be out within 45 minutes to an hour for the appointment. I get called at 2pm stating they were on their way and would be another 30-45 minutes!
Very unprofessional.
Then I get a follow-up email on providing feedback. The link was invalid and I wasn't able to do so!

I hate trying to find new people or businesses that you can trust. One of our 15 year old units went out and we called Howard Air to come out and fix. Joe was hands down the best tech we have EVER had. We had gone through 3 different companies in the past, all who were overpriced and money hungry. Joe was honest and helpful. We ended up buying a new unit bc it was in our best interest. Scott showed us what they had and we grilled him for a couple hours about everything before deciding on what unit to purchase. We never felt pressured and he was very professional answering all major and minor inquiries. We had to wait 3 weeks for an install and Joe came back out to keep the unit running until our install date. Again, he was awesome!! Our install date just so happened to fall on the hottest day of the summer so far and I was so worried not having any air for 8-10 hrs!! Rob and Abel showed up on time and got down to business. They were very polite and continued to answer questions when I wanted answers for things they were doing. They were done within 8 hours and then explained all that they did and even went in the attic to show me the handler and duct work. I haven't had a negative run in with anyone at this company. We are very pleased with the tech work, sales, and installers. I am glad we found a business we could trust.

This is the second home in which we have had Howard Air install two complete Trane HVAC systems. We have found them to be very easy to work with. They communicate well, are prompt on appointment arrivals, thoroughly explain how everything works and come back as needed to resolve any outstanding problems or issues. Certainly not the least expensive company out there, we feel they deliver excellent value for money invested.

We called Howard Air Last year when our unit was not cooling, they sent out a tech that was great and he maintained the unit and put additional Freon in the unit. I was at the home and on the roof with him. He stated the unit was in great shape.

The unit had a issue several weeks later and new Tech arrived - He claimed that a part was bad and he had to swap the part out, $1,200 hundred later and switched all the good original Freon to the new Eco Friendly Freon. The unit has never cooled again the way it intended.

We are now replacing the unit - and would never use Howard Air to touch anything in HVAC on our Houses or business.

We have a maintenance contract with them. The reason we stay with them is that every service person that comes to the house is professional and as a company they are reliable and honest. They have always been on time according to the window we set and usually early. Their pricing is a great value for the service you receive. Don’t be fooled by cheap prices, call Howard Air if you want excellent service and honest pricing.

Totally satisfied. Howard Ait technician spent 2 days troubleshooting my system including a complete diagnostic and interior duct inspection. Finally determined a non-OEzm game was installed and ordered another. Later that night replaced fan and system is as good as new. Wonderful job.

We called Howard Air today because our A/C & Heater socket went Kablooie. They said they would be here around 3 PM, but they over delivered. Theron our tech called a little before 11:30 am. He arrived before 12 pm. He figured out the problem and repaired our blown out socket and wired it back up in a jiffy. He made sure everything worked, meaning the heat came on, and the air conditioning worked and cooled as well. We need more people like Theron in this business. He deserves great accolades and I will ask for him again, when we need help. Thank you Howard Air, for making sure we keep our cool! Sorry, for the dad joke. ?

Exceptional service from obviously an a/c certified technician who knows what he is doing. Had a different company out four days ago, who tried to convince us that we needed to install a pump for the condensation run off drain. Thanks to Eric, he saved us $1,700 and it was an easy fix, just as I suspected. Then had him check my ducts because we have two rooms on the second floor that are warm. According to other a/c company we needed to have aero seal blown into our ducts because they suspected a tear. Well, Eric went up into the attic and told us that there are no leaks in the ducts and why those two rooms were warm was because when this house was originally built they ran only one duct to three rooms. He saved us another $2,400 right there. Total saved using Howard Air, $4,100. I have seen posts saying that Howard Air is expensive; all I can say is they are worth every penny, they save us $4,100 in unnecessary work and my unit is fixed. Plan to have them back out to fix the problems to my two front rooms and they are now my go to guys for maintenance on my unit. So if you want a company that actually employs certified techs instead of salesmen, a company and techs with integrity and that can actually FIX the problem, look no further than Howard Air.

Great and trust worthy company. We bought three A/C systems from Howard Air for Scottsdale, AZ and they have been very helpful and honest with services and repairs. Howard Air has been there when we need their help the most and especially, the service Manager (Bruce) is a wonderful person to work with. Additionally, Kiana has been very helpful as well when we call into Howard Air.

Update - October 2018 - Recent Service Maintenance performed by the tech (Waymond) was very professional and satisfying. Waymond checked all the critical points and carefully inspected possible signs to prevent issues down the road for all 4 systems at the two properties. All in all, we are very pleased and happy with the Service Maintenance. We recommend Howard Air to anybody that need service or repair for their A/C system.

Update - November 2018: Wonderful experience with the recent Service Maintenance performed by Howard Air Technician (Waymond) another property in Avondale, AZ. Waymond is very knowledgeable and sincerely performed his work like his own systems. Checked both hair handler in the attic and cleaned everything that is necessary and other previous A/C company did not do. All in all, we are very happy with it.

We had Howard air come out and recharge our AC . Quinton our technician was excellent, he explained everything to us very thoroughly. If you choose Howard air ask for Quinton. Our only issue was the price for refrigerant was a little high, but they offer a warranty and high class service which made it worth the extra few bucks. Thanks again Quinton.

Home buyers beware
I recently bought a home in Scottsdale. Howard Air provided and installed new Carrier Heat Pumps and Air Handlers with a 5/10 year warranty a few years before I bought the home. Howard Air will not honor any warranty work to anyone but the original purchaser unless you pay them several hundred dollars to transfer the warranty.
The original warranty contract/paperwork that does not reference any transfer fees or any such exclusions.

Went three day's without ac as it has been 96 degrees inside. Three other companies lied and was going to charge a godly amount of money or said they couldn't help do to my warranty.
Why I didn't call Howard AC sooner. Extremely happy with customer service and the tech was very professional, polite and honest. Price was unbeatable in my opinion.
I will recommend this company and the tech to everyone I come across.

Paul and his crew of Cameron, Jordan, & Brian did a fantastic job of installing three new HVAC units in two days. There was little interruption in the house, and the crew was very professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Howard Air for service and particularly for new installations.

We replaced all of the ducting in our house plus an new HVAC system using Howard Air. The project took about 5 days and there were multiple workers on the job during the 5 days of installation. All of the workers were exceptionally professional, hard working and competent. Jeff, Travis(Burr), Michael, Andrew, LT and others were a joy to have working in our home. We also added a small split system for another section of the house and again the installation was terrific. We can't say enough good things about the men who worked on the project and the finished product is all we hoped it would be. We also were impressed with Steven, the sales rep, and Tod the engineering design person. We highly recommend Howard Air if you want a good job performed by qualified personnel.

Beware !!!

Two new Trane units from Howard Air installed in 2016 for the cost of $24,000. they both was wired incorrectly from the thermostat to unit ! Second stage never was working. This caused the AC compressor solenoid to not engage and now it’s making a sound

Howard told me I would need pay 995.00 to transfer the labor warranty including opting in there maintenance package if the unit checks out ok. AC was wired wrong from start and they did not seem to honor there work . I would not use them and they do not offer any military discount. Costumer service was great excluding they didn’t Seem to honor there work

I've used and seen quite a few A/C companies in Phoenix in my 30+ years here and Howard Air is far above the others when it comes to service and professionalism. I got 2 great units installed a year ago, they stood by them when 1 had an issue, and the great service continues.

Never had any issues with Howard air. Purchased a new unit back in 2015. Recently moved got lucky my new home also has a new unit and they were able to come out and provide the fall tune up for the heating portion of the system.

I have nothing but praises for the people with Howard Air. David L. Shrum was our technician and he was able to get our unit back up and blowing cold air in no time at all. The prompt and courteous service we received was such a blessing in such a stressful time. Being without air when it's in triple digits with 5 girls in the house is not something that I ever want to do again! Thank you so very much to David and the Howard Air company for your genuine concern and your quick response and excellent service. Our heater stopped working and within a couple hours of calling Howard Air, we had a technician on site. Wayne from Howard Air was awesome! It was dark and raining outside and that did not stop Wayne. He was out there for an hour and a half and was able to fix the problem. His perseverance and sence of urgency in repairing my heater solidified my decision in selecting Howard Air. Thank you Wayne for not giving up in the cold dark rain, so my family can be warm.

Want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to Travis and his technicians Dennis and Carlos at Howard Air. Six years ago Howard Air installed a new air handler and heat pump at my home. The unit came with a 10yr warranty. Recently, I had been having trouble with the air handler leaking water. The company followed up with prompt visits by their techs to try and solve the issue. On the last visit, Travis(a manager) accompanied his tech Dennis to take a look at the issue. Upon my sharing the issues at hand with Travis, he quickly decided that a new evaporative coil needed to be installed. No hemming and hawing or deflecting the issue at hand. Instead he offered a quick and decisive order to fix the issue under warranty. A repair date was set(Oct 1). Today Dennis and another tech Carlos showed up on time and ready to work. Dennis was quick to line me out with the work detail to be done. And then let me know that Travis had also authorized the replacement of the blower motor for the air handler as well. I had not asked for this consideration, nor had the blower been an issue. I was so impressed by this extra mile he went towards fulfilling this project. The repair and replacement were professionally accomplished in a reasonable amount of time.

Travis unprompted went the extra mile for me and my home. His techs did an amazing job with the work(and kept everything tidy and clean.) Everything is going to break ultimately. And trusting in a company that originally installed the products to be there when things go wrong is huge. And I breathe a huge sigh of relief knowing that Howard Air backs up their products and worksmanship. Thank you once again.

I have not had the AC serviced in two years. The AC is a roof unit on top of our three story condo building. I called Howard Air a couple weeks ago for a seasonal checkup. I was told the techs were extremely busy but they scheduled for today.

Howard Air Tech “Stuart” arrived and did his inspection. I honestly was expecting a gloomy report since our AC is 14 years old. He showed me the check list where everything was well within specs. Then he went up on roof and cleaned the dust from the evaporators fins with a portable water tank. Once again everything checked ok.

Stuart kidded with my grandkids as he wrote up his inspection report and was a very friendly even though it was 100 degrees outside and heaven knows how hot on the roof. Great representative for Howard Air.

This is the second time I’ve used Howard Air. Previously the tech told me my A Coil was very dirty but told me I could easily clean it myself and save money OR he could clean it but would have bill me. He explained how to clean it and I cleaned it myself.

I feel very confident calling Howard Air for future HVAC needs.

The service was thorough and excellent. Chase came to our house for our semi-annual service and really went through the whole system front to back, checking and cleaning and putting everything in order to make sure that our old system was working as intended. We were very pleased with the diligence and attention to detail, and the excellent and honest service provided by Howard Air.

Howard Air truly conducts their business in a professional manner. Our A/C unit was serviced by Howard Air and we found them thorough and efficient without trying to up-sale services we didn't need. When our A/C finally died, Howard Air provided us with the best of three estimates which included a few additional items built into the price. The only reason I gave four stars -- our A/C unit broke late Tuesday afternoon, the serviceman diagnosed the problem that evening but we couldn't see a salesman until Thursday morning which meant two nights in the hot September heat. Once we received their quote, along with two other companies, we made the decision to purchase our unit with Howard Air and they were out to our house that evening installing a temporary unit until our new unit could be installed. All in all they did a great job, making an expensive purchase a little more tolerable. Thanks guys and kudos!

Hands down, the absolute BEST AC company around. The technicians know exactly what they are doing, and do it in a professional way. Daniel and Eric were amazing! Our comfort consultant, Scott, made us feel so much better about our situation and came to our house late at night just to take care of us! We will never use any other AC company, highly recommend to everyone!

My wife and I have lived in our house for over 16 years. Last year I decided it was time to investigate new AC units to replace the one originally installed in 2002. The original installer had serviced the units since 2005, pre-winter and pre-summer. During that time, three minor repairs, two capacitors and one safety switch. Never needed to add Freon, which was fine since it was a sealed unit. I obtained proposals from five well-known contractors and ended up by picking Howard Air. Tanner came out, did all the calculations and explained my options. I went with 2-stage condenser units and variable speed blower motors with a 10-year warranty. Tanner was very professional. Installation was on June 25 and 26, by John and Abel, who did a great job. They arrived on time, as scheduled, cleaned up as they worked, and were courteous and polite. Couple of minor tweaks by Doug and Jeff, both could not have been easier to work with. Tanner came back to check on things. All-in-all, I could not have been happier with my decision. The better news came a month after install when I received my APS bill. I did not change any thermostat settings. 2018 had a 33-day billing period, same in 2019. Average outdoor temperature last year was 93°, this year, a tad cooler at 90°. My on-peak energy use was the same for both years at 19%. The best news was that my total bill was down from $495 to $366, that's a 26% decrease and I know that APS had a rate increase. I was happy a month ago, and I am happier now and will happier down the road after my APS rebate gets processed!

My AC unit was about 20 years old and I needed to replace it. I worked with Ted Henn and he broke down exactly what system I had and what system he would recommend for me to make my AC efficient and last the longest. I was very nervous since I have never had to replace an AC unit. 5 days before the unit was supposed to be put in the AC unit stopped blowing. I had another company come out and they blasted me about not using them for a new unit. I called Ted and he had his team help out in making sure my AC unit lasted until the new unit. The team that showed up to put the new unit in were super friendly and knowledgeable about what they were doing. I'm very pleased with the work and happy to have better AC!

TLDR: This company cares about it's customers and wants the best for them.

Our A/C started acting up right at the end of summer.
We called Howard Air and they dispatched David Shrum to fix the issue.
He did not have enough time to fix the problem and said he would come back the following day. He noticed we had a 4 month old baby boy and called dispatch to stay after hours and fix the issue. He was here over 4 hours but got the job done.
Anyone with a little baby surely can appreciate how important it is for them to be comfortable to be able to sleep.

I paid for a service inspection 2 weeks ago, tech came out checked the unit and said everything was fine, but he recommends a condensate safety switch and their service agreement and he specifically said but that part really isn't a big deal. Now my air just stopped working, I called Howard air and they told me since I didn't sign up for their service agreement they won't come out tonight unless I pay $198 just for the service call (no parts or labor included). I don't expect a free repair by any means, but I do expect them to come out promptly since I had THEM do the service. Even after explaining to the dispatcher that I have a toddler and a pregnant woman in the house, they still wouldn't budge on their petty service contract requirement. I feel like they deliberately sabotaged my unit. I'll never do business with them again!

Was an after hours call, repair man showed up about 10pm and diagnosed the problem to be just a fuse. The after hours repair with parts was under $200. This was a surprise to me because I figured under my cirmstances my bill was going to be at least $500 even if it was just a fuse! Repair man had me up and going in less than 1 hour. Very professional experience and Howard Air is now my first and only call for ac work.

We moved into a new home recently and had no idea how horribly installed the AC was by the previous owner. Dave was very knowledgeable and helpful with explaining it all to us. Instead of just telling us what we needed to get our AC up and running, he checked everything so we could be warned for the future. I scheduled service on an older gas/electric unit which I thought may need to be replaced. David Shrum, Howard Air technician, inspected the unit, explained the issues and what needed to be done. He completely renovated the unit, installed a new thermostat and balanced the air flow. David provided professional explanations, work on the unit and follow-through with sending the itemized receipt. I have previously purchased a Trane A/C and heat unit for another home through Howard Air and their service is why I called them again. Howard Air technicians always provide clear information and facts so the customer can make an informed decision. Then they follow through with excellent, professional service. Everything seemed to go okay until the end of the visit when they try to sell us on a simple $65 capacitor for over $250. Which then was just a sales tactic to try and get us to get a maintenance plan for our unit.

Pretty disappointed honestly... they didn't enter the Attic fully to check the duct work properly. (Which was the main reason for our call for air balancing)

Much less expensive competitors for what was provided on evaluation.

Extremely thorough service call and very patient with explaining areas of concern needing repairs or replacement. My service tech provided price quotes on items in need of repairs/replacing but did not pressure me in taking immediate action. He also provided timelines for being available to return when needed. Pictures were taken by the service tech and shown to me detailing potential problems. This was especially beneficial since those parts are on the air handlers which are located in the attic. I will definitely contact Howard Air for my future HVAC needs!

If I could give 10 stars I would.Here is my full experience:
I had my capacitor replaced the end of July by Autumn Air and then my AC went out again in the middle of September. I decided to have Autumn Air come back out since they were the last to work on my AC. Big Mistake! They said they would be at my house within an hour. Two hours later I called to find out when they were coming. The guy showed up a little over 2 hours after I placed the call. He then proceeded to test the AC and was outside for maybe 2 minutes and came in and told me that the compressor needed to be replaced and/or would need a new unit. The cost of $4K for the compressor or $8,500 for a new unit. He tried to inform me how to get financed barely even knew any information to help me. He then left and said sorry. I panicked and desperately tried to figure out how I could pay for a new compressor.
After an emotional day I then reached out to a friend that works for Howard Air and asked for a second opinion. They showed up at my house in less than 30 minutes tested the unit for about 20 minutes and then proceeded to tell me the compressor was fine, ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I simply had to replaced the air capacitor, only $280. I was in tears with happiness and frustration. Autumn Air did not fully inspect the unit and only wanted to pocket some money from me and not even do their job correctly. Chase went above and beyond taking care of the unit and providing me with tips as well as to what to keep an eye out on to make sure the unit was working properly.
Huge thank you to Howard Air, Kiana and Chase, for being so wonderful and really take the time to help your customers and not just look for the money you will pocket!!!

Great service every time we've had them come out! The service men and women are always very professional and very kind. I never feel like I'm being sold anything. When we first bought the house the air conditioning unit was 20 years old. We didn't have the money to replace it right away so they replaced parts for free under their service contract and kept it working for us until we could afford a new one. Installers came out on time and we're very efficient. We have three dogs and they were very kind and thoughtful to make sure that the gate was never left open and that the dogs were not scared. Just a great experience through and through!

My dad (65) lives in a rental condo. His air quit cooling completely on a Saturday, Howard air was there Sunday morning. My dad was told Sunday morning it was the compressor and the part had to be ordered. It took until Tuesday evening for the techs to return. Keep in mind these were four of the hottest days in Arizona with temps reaching 121. Tuesday evening I get a call from my dad that his dog has passed away. I rush over to find out his air is still not fixed. I question the now TWO techs working on the unit and they tell me they're getting the compressor installed. My husband and I help my now sobbing dad with his dog that has passed. We get back from the vet, air still not fixed, I ask the techs how long? My dad can't stay in this heat anymore it's been four days, now his dog has died, and I need to get him out of here, they respond 15 minutes, 45 minutes later I ask again to be told it wasn't the compressor at all, there is a leak and the compressor wasn't working properly due to the leak, the leak was the problem all along.... 20 minutes after they found the leak my dad had cold air.. How sad that Howard Air did not diagnose the correct problem and allowed a 65 year old man to live with a half working unit in the hottest days of Summer for four days and lose his best friend....

Just had Howard Air install a new HVAC system in a house that we are renovating. I called a several other local companies for bids on what we were wanting replaced in an older home; most were reluctant since it was deemed what they would call 'new construction'. My next door neighbor was also doing a renovation and recommended I call Kevin from Howard Air as they were the company he had just used and had me come see the work that had been completed. I was impressed with what I saw with the newly installed fan coil unit and associated ducting. I called Kevin and he and Tanner came to our home for a walk through on what they would recommend and provided me a thorough analysis and quote within in the following week. Howard Air's quote was higher than two other well known HVAC companies but I liked their approach and the design they provided. We proceeded with the contract and Tanner worked well with our general contractor in coordinating the installation times and availability as to not interfere with the other trades at the house. After an addition was added to our house it created a change to the original vent ducting design from how we both envisioned the roof hips coming together. Tanner kept me informed on a recommended design change to meet the potential heating and cooling loads that the room would require for the correct climate control with no additional hidden charge. I have been extremely impressed with all of the Howard Air personnel with their professionalism and communication throughout this HVAC replacement and look forward to a continued relationship as we utilize their maintenance services to keep our system running in tip top shape.

Great service, very prompt and professional technician. Only bad part of experience was the enormous upcharge of nearly 400% parts and labor, for a blower motor that retails around $175 with no more than an hour worth of labor worth about $90hr. Understanding overhead is built in, $850 quote was way to high. The $88 charge to come out was reasonable and again, service tech was great but your prices prohibit me from using you again.

Avoid them like Ebola! I was with them for 10 years...what a deterioration in service. I have had multiple properties with them and gave them a lot of service over the years. I just had to have another evap coil replaced for $2500 dollars in my condo for the 2nd time in 4 years. Why to we have a bi-yearly maintenance program? Aren't they supposed to monitor and check for issues like that unless they were intentionally done! I know Arizona is the landing zone for unscrupulously HVAC companies. They are kind of like car dealership service departments...they smile at you when you enter and laugh at you when you leave. When you try to rectify the problem by talking to the service manager, they are at perpetual meetings for two weeks straight! Hats off to the people who answer phones all day and protect they're boss from people like me.

In summary, Howard Air used to be a great company, but is no longer! They are expensive and unscrupulous. You can't count on them doing any of the 44 or 80 point services you pay for. You have to be concerned that they are damaging the system further so it causes you issues down the road. I've given by 4 home business to a new company...which is 1/2 the price of Howard Air! If they do less than they say, I'm still saving 1/2 my money and now will call my Home Warranty company instead of using another marginal HVAC company in AZ!

We recently purchased a home that was 14 years old, one of our AC units went out and we knew the other one was most likely right behind it. We got quotes from 7 different local HVAC companies and decided that we wanted to go with Trane due to past experiences with their products. We chose Howard air by looking over reviews and because of the sales person that came out. No pressure, no gimmicky car salesmen stuff that we got from a few of the other companies. They did a load calculation on our home and set us up with amazing equipment and a great price. The install team was right on time, very polite and worked fast, they had both units replaced in one day. We love the new equipment, had to replace our nest thermostats with the Trane versions which was sad, but the rest we love :)

I thought we had a leak in our AC pipes. They came out within 3 hours of me calling them. The tech was pleasant and knowledgeable. He figured out it was not my AC leaking but my Fire Sprinkler. I even called back later in the day to ask what color the leaking pipe was and got a very timely and kind response. I highly recommend Howard Air!

I called them because my circulation fan was not working properly on June 22nd. They said they need a special technician to come out and the soonest they can get me in is JULY 7th. So they expected me to have fan not properly functioning for 2 weeks. The office also said that diagnostics fees are waived. Thats why we went with Howard air since we didnt want to pay a 65 dollar service fee for them to just come out. What a scam.

Then it completely blows out, I call them again and they said they can come out tomorrow (Why didnt we just schedule it sooner if you can make it out tomorrow?) Well I consulted a friend and he gave me a price range to shoot for. Then Howard Air said the wheel is broken and that it will cost 668 dollars. One of my friends used to work with AC units and he said that to replace that should be 200-300 dollars.

I told the gentlemen from Howard Air we'll think about it. He said Okay but hes charging 88 dollars for a service call. My eyes popped. They made me wait 2 weeks and said no service fee yet they are charging me a service fee now when they diagnosed the problem? So is this a bait thing where they say no fee but then charge you an astronomical amount for work and then charge you a high service fee? What a scam these people are.

We have been having some problems with our AC not running properly. We have a home warranty and they sent one of their contractors out. They diagnosed the problem and replace the fan motor. No sooner than the technician left, the AC stopped working. He came back out and said a wire was loose and fixed it. We were soon having the same problem.

The next day, they sent another technician out and the AC was working fine, so he said there was nothing wrong with it and left. Of course the air stopped working shortly after.

In desperation I called Howard Air. They sent Yubani Barraza out and he diligently diagnosed the problem and come to find out the prior contractor had installed the wrong motor causing the compressor to overheat. We had him install the right one (at our expenses), even though Yubani kept telling us he would have the prior contractor come back and install the right one. At this point I did not trust the prior contractor and had Howard Air install it. Howard Air spent a lot of time making sure they had the right diagnosis and address the issue properly versus quickly addressing the problem in a slipshod manner.

I cannot begin to convey how thrilled we are with Howard Air and will think of them for all of our AC needs.

Howard Air is the only HVAC company I trust in my home! Of course there’s never a good time for your air to stop working, but a Sunday evening (Father’s Day) during some of the hottest temps in Arizona history, is probably the worst. The downstairs of the house was still keeping cool so we waited to call for service on our upstairs unit until first thing this morning. Given the pressure their service crew must be under I was surprised that they were able to have someone to my house by 10am much less the same day! Just a few days earlier I’d seen several trucks in front of my neighbor’s house, with another HVAC company replacing their entire system. Since our houses are the same age I was dreading the same would have to be done at our place. But that wasn’t the case at all. Bruce came out and diagnosed our problem to be a really leaky coil that needed to be replaced ASAP. He explained the issue in detail, showed me photos of the components covered in ice (not good), as well as rust that had been building up over time. He shot me straight and gave me very fair price on the repair, made a temporary fix to get the house to stay cool for a few more days while the replacement parts were ordered, and he was out the door. Two hours flat and I was back to work. Love these guys and they’re the only HVAC company I’d recommend to my friends and family. They’re the best!

Do not use this company. Hired company to tune up AC units. They were both working before and during service call. During the service call one of the tech tells me I have a leak and it would be too expensive to repair so had a sales person call me to quote a new one. Went to turn on air after they left and it now one of the units does not work at all. Tried talking customer service and they said I would have to pay for all repairs. This after spending over $600 and buying a service contract. They took my money, wont refund, wont fix, and now I don't have AC that works any longer. Do not use this company.

When we purchased our home early in 2014, we had been informed by the home inspector that our HVAC system was over 15 years old and that we should expect to replace it in the future.
During a recent cold snap, we needed warm air, but found our system would not function (glad this didn't happen when we needed the AC this past summer!). Howard Air was called (they kindly bumped up our previously scheduled maintenance visit) and Bryan, our usual tech confirmed that our system was in need of expensive repairs (confirmed by competing bids we received over the next two days by other HVAC companies) or replacement.
Bryan made arrangements for Scott Bird, a senior HVAC consultant to visit our home & provide a detailed analysis & presentation. Scott arrived the next day and at the conclusion of his thorough inspection of our HVAC, roof & attic, gave us a detailed presentation of our options. Scott (he has an engineering background) answered each of our questions and concerns. We decided not waste further money on an 18 year old system and went with a replacement. We received bids from a total of 3 HVAC companies and chose Howard Air as they best provided the best overall option for us. Scott also had one of their techs to provide emergency repairs (free of charge) to our old HVAC so we had heat until the new unit could be installed several days later.
The day of the install, the lead tech Kyle (courteous, professional) did an outstanding job with the rest of his team during the entire process. We received a text and email with his photo and estimated (right on time) arrival. They expertly removed our old HVAC and installed the new one with a huge crane (they were careful and did not damage our palm trees or roof) and carefully cleaned up when finished. Kyle also provided detailed instructions (a booklet was included) on our new thermostat.

We are very satisfied with the way Howard Air professionally resolved our HVAC issue from beginning to end. Special thanks to Scott, Bryan, Kyle and Amber (also the emergency tech whose name I cannot recall) at Howard Air!

Recently relocated to the East Valley from out of state. One of the things that our home inspector recommended was that we have our AC checked more thoroughly.

We carried out some online research and contacted Howard Air to set up an appointment. Tina took my call and kindly set up an appointment for the same day which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

Bryan, the tech that was assigned to us was friendly and professional. He did an outstanding job performing the standard service call. He took multiple photos of our A/C/Heat Pump unit which is located up on the roof of our home. He then showed me the photos of several components of our A/C system and fully explained their function and why they needed to be replaced in order for our system to run more efficiently. The price quoted was very competitive as well.

We gave Bryan the green light to proceed and he replaced the components, added additional Freon and even kindly washed our permanent filter (he explained how important it is to keep this filter clean and to do this each month to ensure unrestricted airflow) and even installed a ptrap in our condensation pipe without charge.

Bryan was asked about several photos of our A/C unit that were taken by our inspector and there were several items that he said did not need to be worked on at this time as they were actually in good condition. I appreciate Bryan's integrity and this reflects well not only on him, but on Howard Air too.

Bryan also immediately emailed us our invoice when we paid with our credit card. We appreciate that paperless option for our records.

Bryan, thanks for doing such a great job for us and we look forward to having you come out again for our next service this coming fall for the heat pump. Great job Howard Air!

We had a 15 year old HVAC unit that ran constantly and the house still got warm in the 110 degree August heat.

We met with Howard Air because our neighbor loved their honesty and work on her home. We also met with two other well known companies, but none matched the personal touch of Howards.

Their first goal is helping you understand how to cool your home. They do a complete tour of your home, AC unit and attic with suggestions and explanations.

The group found numerous duct work inefficiencies from the original build in our SCW home! Today we have a completely new HVAC system and corrected duct work that is amazing. All at a comparable cost to other well known companies bids

Sales Consultant Ted Henn really listens to your situation and needs. Installation Manager Jeff had great and accurate suggestions regarding duct work needs.

Installation techs like Paul, Jordan, Brian, Dave, John and Chad take pride in the details and appearance of their work and doing things correctly.
Also, they’re on time, pleasant and clean up when their done.

We chose Howard Air Heating and Air Conditioning and now have HVAC professionals and friends we trust. My wife and I could not be happier. It is our recommendation, If your looking for a great job, your first call should be to Howard Air.

Had a unique problem with our A/C; the pump that extracts the condensation quit working. My wife crawled under our manufactured home to try and figure out how to reset the pump and when that failed we decided to call in the experts. Who do we call we said to each other then as a loyal KTAR listener we remember To Replace or Repair call Howard Air! One quick phone call and we had a technician out EARLIER than the reported time....that never happens! Malachi did an extremely thorough job and we were up and running in a short time. Malachi was very polite and displayed knowledge and efficiency. I've made a calendar reminder to call Howard Air for a service check-up when the weather cools down to make sure the heater is in top order.

We had an A/C unit fail at our home in Phoenix and of course it was 110 degree's outside. After inspection and recommendations by Howard Air we decided the unit needed to be replaced. This was accomplished in 72 hours and our experience from start to finish was outstanding.

I bought a new thermostat and all I needed was a common wire connected from my thermostat to my air handler. The wires were already in the wall, just needed to be connected in the air handler. I already knew this and told them over the phone. They charged me an $88 diagnostic fee and then $65 just to splice the wire together and connect to the unit. The actual work probably took him 15 mins to do. The tech, Dave, was really nice and did a great job. It's not his fault they charged so much. I asked how much it'd be to install my new ecobee3 thermostat, and he looked it up. Another $180!! Are you kidding me?! I told him I'd just do it myself and I installed it within about 7 mins, before he was even finished cleaning up. It was so easy. $180?! That's a rip off! But the 5 star review is on the tech Dave who did an outstanding job.

Schedulers and service folks are 5*. But they service manger/company will not provide transparent pricing. Parts and labor are lump sum and they will not break it out. Statement: We provide book plus labor and it is competitive but we cannot break it out. Cost is roughly 60% parts/40% labor. But if you provide the parts then the cost will be 60% labor. Yup, no transparency and sliding costs depending on the situation.

Stuart was great, polite, knew his stuff, explained everything in detail with pictures - nothing to hide. Very trustworthy - have had my new system 1 year - this was the last free PM visit - everything checked out OK! Would recommend to anyone, and will schedule my next PM in the future. At least yearly maintenance checks are crucial to a long lasting system.

I called today to schedule maintenance in which a previous diagnostic service was completed by the company. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told the diagnostic fee I paid a couple months earlier would be applied toward the cost of the maintenance. I was called by a lady from the company a few hours later and told that the gentleman I had spoken to was incorrect and the diagnostic fee would not be applied because 30 days have passed since the diagnostic was completed. I indicated that that had not been communicated when the diagnostic service had been completed and the fee paid. The lady indicated she would speak to her manager and call me back. When the lady called me back, she stated that the manager would not honor the diagnostic fee being applied toward the maintenance cost, nor would she honor the price that I had been quoted several hours earlier from the other employee at the company. Moreover, she stated I now had to pay half the price of the upcoming service in advance. Needless to say I canceled the appointment, as I have no intent of working with a dishonest company that changes policies and procedures based on the conversation at that particular moment.

We had an issue with our air conditioner in the middle of summer over a year ago and called Howard Air to come out to take a look on a Friday evening. The dispatcher got ahold of the tech and told us that they would be out by 8 pm. They didn't show up by 8 pm so we called to check the status of the technician, the dispatcher told us that they would be out by 9pm. When they didn't arrive at 9 pm, we called back and the dispatcher couldn't get ahold of the technician and told us that they'd have them call us back. When he finally called us, he acted like he couldn't hear us over the phone so we tried to call him back and he answered. We finally got ahold of him and he said that he tried to call us but never got an answer so he moved on to someone else. They never showed up on Friday night.

On Saturday morning, we got a call from a technician saying that he had time to stop by but there would be a weekend charge for coming out. My wife told him that there should be no extra charge since they were supposed to come out on Friday but never showed up. The tech said - do you want me to come out or not? We told him to go ahead and come out even though we'd have to pay the extra weekend charge because our house had been hot for 2 days now. When he finally arrived out of the house, he told us that he wouldn't look at the unit because it was on the roof and he wouldn't walk on the roof tiles.

Terrible experience, way too expensive and bad customer service. Would not recommend to anyone. Try Mechanical MD instead.

Previously posted great service on our newly installed Carrier a/c system. That posting stated that one of the two (2) identical units was possessed. They came back today and brought a representative of 'Carrier' to further analyze the problems. His recommendation was to add a heater for the coolant, add a reverse P-trap to stop the coolant in its liquid state so it doesn't return to the compressor, and add a 'hard start' capacitor to assist with start-up. It was also stated that if all of this didn't work 'Howard Air' would completely replace the outside unit. Now my two identical a/c units will be... different. Let's hope this one works. Bruce and Jersey Mike (Howard Air) were great. Jeff, the 'Carrier' type representative was thoroughly knowledgeable and provided the solution(s). Let's hope this fix works.

AC unit was not working. I had some guys from Howard air come check it out. First it was wiring, then later it was found to be the motor. Took a while to figure out the problem, but when they figured it out it was fixed that same day and the AC works great now. I was overcharged, but when they realized the mistake they refunded the difference the same day. Overall I was pleased with the staff and how they really seem to care about their customers.

We had an independent AC tech replace the fan motor of outside unit and since it was so loud that we could not even talk to reach other while it was running. After Howard Air did their wok the unit is so quiet again. The technician said the other technician had put the wrong size capacitor in for the motor and it was overloading the fan motor.

These guys are amazing. Let me tell you why. Scott Bird was the representative that came to provide the estimate to change the return box on my mother-in-law‘s HVAC. Scott was referred to me from one of my neighbors. My neighbor said that Howard air has done HVAC‘s on several of my neighbors properties. They are absolutely amazing and the prices are incredible.

Terrible. I called them on Saturday, they said they would dispatch a tech. Sunday comes from a window of 10-2pm, nobody shows up. I call again, they re-dispatch a tech and shows up 2 hours later. An entire day in a house with no AC waiting on them. They said they needed to order a part and will rush it. I called the next day to find out the status and the parts manager was gone. I am not sure why only one person can do this job. I'm going on day 4 without AC, I still don't have an answer from them TERRIBLE. DO NOT USE THEM.

Had to have my 14 year old Trane package unit replaced and replaced it with a new Trane 16 SEER 2 stage package unit. First unit installed had the compressor fail within 24 hours. The boys at Howard Air responded within 1 hour of my call to have a service tech on site. System was totally replaced with a new package and Michael & Andrew did a superior job completing the installation.

In 2016 my rooftop AC gave out. I believe it was the original air conditioning From when the house was built in the 70s. I called a few companies that I won’t name and the prices were super high to replace it. Luckily I called Howard Air to come out and quote me, which thank god was a free estimate at that point.

Needless to say, I went with them because of their good price to replace the unit. Oh and side note.. the Ac unit was too old to get parts for which trust me I tried to do that at first. Not only was it a headache free experience but they gave me 4 free maintenance calls, 2 each year.

As far as there service of the initial installation and follow up maintenance calls the past 2 years, they have been nothing but professional, on-time, and have always answered any questions I had. The office has called me each time to schedule the appointments, which is nice considering my busy life. They have even come out on Saturday’s to avoid me having to take time off work.

The ac unit itself has been a blessing. It hasn’t had any issues in the 2 years I’ve had it, still blows cold, and has even saved me a good amount of money on my electricity bill considering it’s efficiency.

Overall I personally recommend Howard Air. Their customer service, price/value, and professionalism has made what turned a bad situation (in the summer in AZ with no AC) in a blessed one. And one last thing, there financing helped me a ton. I really hope this helps someone else who’s in a bind and at a loss.

I had a condenser installed in my AC. The next day, it wasn't working properly, so I had a tech out. He supposedly fixed it, but now its just a few days later and the system is broken . I had a full system installed using Howard Air and had some major problems with that install as well (leaks, warped wood, mold). I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere. I wish I had

Getting a new A/C unit is a big expense. We probably got too many quotes and they were all over the place. Howard Air Tanner was a rock star helping us sort through the quotes and explaining everything to us ... several times. He really made the difference for us. It wasn't the cheapest option available but we found the cheapest most likely isn't a good option. Be very weary of companies like GB & PA - do your homework. We couldn't be happier to be Howard Air customers! Thank you Tanner for making our experience educational & seamless!

I am writing this on behalf of my family who had a evaporative cooler placed in their home. The cooler has NEVER worked. We have had you guys come out 10 times but yet it has NEVER fixed the problem. We have called numerous times and have NEVER gotten a return phone call. We are so dissapointed in the service we have received, especially considering we purchased our air conditioner from your company a few years previous. My system went down about 7 PM. I called for service and the Tech Joel, was at my house in less than two hours. He diagnosed the problem as a bad run capacitor and had the problem fixed in less than 1/2 hour.
Excellent job and the service agreement was well worth the cost.

I am very pleased with Howard Air. We had our HVAC system replaced with a new Trane gas furnace and AC. Several things were installed incorrectly with the old system, including ductwork, drainage system and drain pan, outdated electrical box. These were all corrected with custom fitted ductwork, new drain lines and a larger custom made drain pan, new electrical box and conduit for the AC outside. Kyle and Terrence came and worked patiently in the rain all day. They were very careful not to track any dirt through the house and put canvas tarps over all my new carpet.They worked steadily all day and were polite and pleasant.At the end of the day they cleaned everything up and vacuumed the floors. They removed all the old system and new packaging materials.Scott did a great job helping us select a system and informing us of all the features.They communicated well and came on time and did what they promised to do. Great company!

I would like to start out and say Ted was one heck of a sales man but as soon as i signed a contract it went down hill from there He told me he would be there on the install day to make sure everything went well and he was not. I looked passed this and just wanted my new ac unit which i found out later i over paid for by allot installed and working like we agreed. I even paid for a extra duct to be installed in my office where i work everyday to make sure it stayed cool it took Howard air a total of 4 times of coming out before they installed the new vent that should've been installed when they put my new AC unit on but every tech had there own opinion of why i didn't need it or they were lazy and didn't wanna install it. So after the new vent was installed it was installed right next to my downstair vent and now the downstairs is not cooling properly they thought it was the thermostat and replaced that and then installed a deflector which helped a little but still isn't right. About one month after my unit was installed when it starts up it makes a loud clunk so loud my dogs bark this is a 10k dual stage unit i shouldn't be having issues on a month after its installed. They damaged my brand new hardwood floors which they did pay to fix.Howard air did offer a free air purifier and new vents to try to help with the air flow in the house which was very nice of them but working with them became a full time job even my neighbors said to me well i know what Ac company i won't be going with just by seeing there service vehicles at my house once a week. If i didn't work from home i don't know how anyone could have worked with howard air I decided to get my new unit before summer hit and it pretty much took them all summer to get things some what straightened out but still I'm not happy and would never recommend them to anyone after the experience i had I was overcharged for the unit and the quality of service and frequency of service calls i had to schedule.

Hard to judge when no one follows up... Ive called several times. Ive had one of their reps out to my house to quote a new 2.5-3 ton unit, and then I never hear back. I am now trying to give them another shot 3 months later (during their slow season) and history repeats itself. Seems like they cherry pick their customers

Compare with other companies their prices are too high, I didn’t shop around enough. . I’m sitting in a hot house. Purchased a Trane AC from Howard’s Air 2 year ago. The compresser is bad, and they want $1,700 to repair it, customer service will make no exception for old people and in July. Even yelled it, please look around, I know there are better companies!

July 12 about 8 pm are A/C would not turn back on and the house is heating up. We heard about Howard Air on KTAR Radio last spring and had them out for maintenance on our A/C unit. I was happy to see they have a 24-hour service. I gave them a call tonight and in about and hour Yubani was at our door. Yubani was polite and explained why the unit would not turn back on. Yubani took care of our problem and our unit is up and running again. Thank you!

The dispatcher Sheila was very helpful when I called their emergency line. Our AC broke the night before. She sent the technician (Jordan) right away. When Jordan arrived we think we saw an angel with a halo. He diagnosed the problem right away (broken motor) and fixed it. He answers all my AC related questions with confidence.

The technician arrived nearly 2 hours outside of the window provided. They seem to have an aversion to repairing systems. I had a leak somewhere but the technician did not locate it precisely (even though i was charged for the electronic leak detection). I was not ready to buy a new system but that was the priority for the technician. Very expensive as well!

Sean with Howard Air did a great job repairing chewed wiring by a rodent and rat proving it by rewiring through metal conduct cable and 1/4 wire mesh to keep rodents from getting into unit to do more damage. Sean was a very pleasant service tech that was very thorough in checking our 15yr old system. Next year Howard Air is our company for a new AC replacement. I just listened to a radio entertainer on 92.3 KTAR ,Gaydos and he discussed how an elderly lady should have paid her electric bill and she probably wouldnt have died. Disgusting yes?
In the same breath he advertised your co.pany and used her likeness.
You should pay attention to the people who represent or promote your co.pany.
Does the lady's family know he used her likeness to promote your company?

They say 24/7 emergency service is available. I called with AC emergency and never received a call back. I also filled out form on website and never received response from that either. Maybe update your website to better reflect actual services? When you’re having an AC emergency, it’s the worst to contact companies with supposed emergency support, but be left hanging.

Set up an appointment between 12pm and 6 pm! A 6 hour window! The tech calls at 5:35pm to tell us it would be another 40 minutes! Pretty much an entire day wasted! Customer service seems to be nonexistent!
