Jan at Vanguard Plumbing came highly recommended by a former colleague. I moved into an apartment with showers that needed repair and one ultimately a full replacement. Jan was most likely not the most affordable but the work was great. I live in an older loft apartment and he had to redesign shower jets that are on the side of the wall from scratch as the parts were no longer manufactured. This took quite a bit of time but in the end it was taken care of and works great. I'm definitely keeping Jan and Vanguard in my contacts for the future. Highly recommend.

Seems like this company is hit or miss. I called them to come out and do as assessment of my condo unit prior to renting it out and they were quick, seemingly thorough and it was free! They didn't find any issues in my unit - great. I called them the following week to assess a leak in the ceiling of the retail space below our building's units. I spoke to the owner on Saturday and discussed having someone come out to look at it Monday morning. As of Monday morning, I hadn't heard from anyone so I called around 10am to see what time frame I was looking at. Obviously no one was planned to come out, so they sent someone and they arrived within the hour. As they arrived, I was told by the crew that it would cost $285 for them to set up a ladder and remove 1 ceiling tile to be able to see where the leak is coming from. After that, I basically had to stalk the owner to send us an estimate for any work that would have to be done. We had him look at another item (booster pump) that needed to be removed and capped too, since I had already paid $285 to have someone there. They said the work was too commercial because it was copper pipes and said they would not do the job. Keep in mind their truck, sweatshirts, and website says residential AND commercial - AND FREE ESTIMATES. After hounding them down for a full day, the owner told me they do not want to take on the commercial part of the work. Then, I asked if there was a chance they would cut the drywall to find the source of the leak that they may decide the work is too commercial and refuse to do it. At that point, he suggested I find another plumber who does commercial and residential work to have the work done. So much for my $285 that I have nothing to show for...and no refund offered, obviously.

Long story short: if you have MINOR residential repairs or issues, they might be okay. But if you live in Chicago and it's anything related to a building issue, STEER CLEAR!

I used First Chicago Plumbing for the first time recently and was very happy with the experience. Even before booking the job, the project manager spend a lot of time with me answering questions and making sure that I understood the process and was prepared in advance - I had a gas pipe moved so it wan't a standard plumbing job. They arrived on time, worked professionally and efficiently and were able to think creatively to get the job done (old building, modern stove, not quite compatible).
This is my first plumbing job in Chicago so I don't have a basis of comparison for pricing but the cost didn't seem unusual to me.
I have no reservations about recommending First Chicago Plumbing.

I called Eric and explained my plumbing situation. Within an hour Eric arrived to my home to assess the situation. He was very thorough and explained everything to me step by step. Go-Rooter went out to my home immediately after we contacted them due to an emergency. They spent the proper amount of time in order to assess the issue and were very honest and diligent in completing the work.

Contacted All Rooter for drainage issues. Bert showed up within 30mins and was able to solve the problem. I am really glad I contacted All Rooter, I will contact them anytime I have plumbing issues. Will refer to friends and family as well.

I had a water leak to the unit below me after 22 years of living in my condo. PATRICK, young, inexperienced plumber DID NOT try what 3 other licensed plumbers told me he should have tried to fix it (wax ring) but insteadREMOVED the cast iron flange unnecessarily which the 3 other licenced plumbers and the City of Chicago Plumbing dept (over the phone) said was placed in the right spot since I live in an older building and extensions or other means can get it the 1/4 above the tile from where it was. He has caused a very costly, complicated project for me because of his incompetence and the company not willing to keep me as a satisifed customer.

I called up Zuniga's plumbing and spoke with Walter they were out within an hour. They had the best price out of 3 estimates. Walter was very knowledgeable professional and understanding. Prompt service on a weekend - arrived within the window of time promised, assessed and fixed the back ups In two sinks. Efficient, courteous and very tidy clean up. Scott did a great job repairing our gas fireplace! He was professional, thorough, and even cleaned the inside! I highly recommend Sam's Plumbing And Rodding!
