Hooray!!! Our water heater is finally replaced after days of searching for an installer/plumber. It was very difficult to find anyone to install a 50-gallon water heater (same size as my original) into a very tight space of our condo.
We were so glad we finally found Vanguard Plumbing – they were very prompt in responding to our emails and calls, and Jan provided us with a reasonable quote right away after we sent in measurements and pictures. Jan was very prompt in addressing any of our questions and concerns, and he was able to accommodate our schedule and get the installation scheduled within 1 business day. The team (David and George) were very professional and did an EXCELLENT job installing the water heater. They are clearly very experience professionals.
Thank you, Vanguard Plumbing! Extraordinary team work, and we would refer to all our friends.

Seems like this company is hit or miss. I called them to come out and do as assessment of my condo unit prior to renting it out and they were quick, seemingly thorough and it was free! They didn't find any issues in my unit - great. I called them the following week to assess a leak in the ceiling of the retail space below our building's units. I spoke to the owner on Saturday and discussed having someone come out to look at it Monday morning. As of Monday morning, I hadn't heard from anyone so I called around 10am to see what time frame I was looking at. Obviously no one was planned to come out, so they sent someone and they arrived within the hour. As they arrived, I was told by the crew that it would cost $285 for them to set up a ladder and remove 1 ceiling tile to be able to see where the leak is coming from. After that, I basically had to stalk the owner to send us an estimate for any work that would have to be done. We had him look at another item (booster pump) that needed to be removed and capped too, since I had already paid $285 to have someone there. They said the work was too commercial because it was copper pipes and said they would not do the job. Keep in mind their truck, sweatshirts, and website says residential AND commercial - AND FREE ESTIMATES. After hounding them down for a full day, the owner told me they do not want to take on the commercial part of the work. Then, I asked if there was a chance they would cut the drywall to find the source of the leak that they may decide the work is too commercial and refuse to do it. At that point, he suggested I find another plumber who does commercial and residential work to have the work done. So much for my $285 that I have nothing to show for...and no refund offered, obviously.
Long story short: if you have MINOR residential repairs or issues, they might be okay. But if you live in Chicago and it's anything related to a building issue, STEER CLEAR!

It was honestly not a big job but we needed a professional plumber to take care of a leak in the toilet. Good thing about them is that they responded and sent a skilled technician who fixed the pipes that were leaking.

I've used VanDerBosch for mid level emergencies - Dead water heater; backed up dishwasher; broken faucet. Each time they were extremely professional, communicative, and a pleasure to have in the house - from their friendliness all the way to the shoe booties that they where, and cleaning up after themselves.
Their rates are competitive, with a slight modifier for the piece of mind and professionalism that I spoke about. That's why I keep going back to them over trying to nickel and dime on a plumbing service that may save me a few dollars but leave me disappointed and soaked.

Power plumbing took advantage of my pregnant wife on a house call to diagnose a shower that didn't get hot. They were unclear about how the total cost of the service would be calculated, did not explain options along with their costs clearly, and ended up taking 4.5 hours + an expensive part that was more than 40% cheaper next door at Home Depot. Total bill was over $800 and the shower still doesn't get hot consistently. We have found the same type of job in our area should cost between $200-400 with parts and labor.
Their owner has yelled at us and blamed us repeatedly when we have challenged the bill and brought up the shower not working. they have shown no interest in trying to solve an issue for the customer. I would never recommend them to anyone.

If you are in need of plumbing services and want to be told the truth, given a reasonable timetable for arrival, repair, and a fair price; contact Walter Zuniga. He’s a very kind and informative man who takes his time to show you what the problem is and makes realistic suggestions, while still doing great, quality work.

My bathtub faucet was dripping and needed a cartridge replaced. Logan came out, assessed the problem, gave me a reasonable estimate, and then completed the job.
The final job came in at estimate and the repair completely fixed the problem. I'm very happy with the service provided as well as the communication. I intend to use Rescue Plumbing for any future plumbing projects.

I spoke with a technician from this company regarding the services they needed to complete for a mutual customer. Just asking for prices towards the potential repairs set this angry old man off. I speak to hundreds of service technicians in my position and have never had someone act so disrespectfully and unprofessionally. He wants to charge $800 for a cleaning, a bit of freon and a capacitor. Be sure not to ask him how his prices are broken down per repair, that gets him upset; he will not have someone else ‘dictating his pricing’ (or evening asking about it apparently)! Comparable prices for the same recommended services are commonly around $400-450. He’s not doing his neighborhood any favors by trying to rob them blind— hard to believe a business operates this way.
