Mr. Burris is phenomenal! He was professional, punctual, proficient and personable. He was honest and eager to share his wealth of knowledge! When I inquired about an unrelated plumbing issue he willing checked it out at no additional charge and then proceeded to explain how I could do the repair myself at a fraction of the cost. I will definitely use this business in the future and will refer them to all of my family and friends.

Mr Burris is the best! Another company told me the circulation pump had failed on my boiler system and quoted almost $6k to replace it.
I spoke with Mr. Burris after getting his info from a neighbor, he was emphatic that the pump is fine and just needed some minor work. Sure enough, he was right! $245 later we are back to normal!

I called for service at my home and my mom's home. He was able to fix my AC unit when others told me I needed a new unit and at a good price. Also fixed my mom's furnace within hours of calling. If you want good honest service Burris is the one to call. Highly recommended.

Mr. Burris is the only person I call when my furnace needs servicing. My family have been loyal customers for over 30years. Mr Burris is a charming, mature gentleman who comes across as friendly and helpful. He was very chatty and VERY persuasive that he talked me out of cleaning out the sewer line. He suggested he could save me money by pouring vast amounts of rock salt down the drains and inside the catch basin. Foolishly, I agreed and paid for that service.
The problem, however, was not resolved. I called back the next day, and Mr Burris came back to rod out the sewer line as I originally requested. Given all the talk of him being fair and just etc, I thought he would deduct the money I already paid previously for him to put rock salt down the drain. After all, he promised it would work and it would save me money. No such luck!
Less than 6 months later, unlike ever before, the sewer line was blocked again. This time, the blockage was more extensive. Instead of having a clear sewer line for at least a year, I had to spend more to clean out a bigger mess. I had mud backing up out of my drains even.

Mr Burris, it would be nice and just, if one of these days you acknowledged at least one of your mistakes. Witty, passive-aggressive comments blaming your customers can only get you so far, Sir.

On one of the coldest nights of the year, Mr. Burris saved the day. Our furnace went out and after four seasons told us it would be $10k, I called my father and he said he “had a guy.” Mr. Burris is special. Not only has he been fixing furnaces for over 60 years- he’s a kind man with patience to figure out the problem. We had a few laughs while he was at my home and he showed me the importance of getting a second opinion from an honest source. I’m so relieved that I now can say “I’ve got a guy.” Mr. Burris for President!

Mr. Burris got us out of a bind with our heat. After we called, he responded by phone right away to give an idea of what could be wrong. We made an appointment for the next day. Much to our pleasant surprise, he called early the next morning, letting us know he was on his way. Prompt, professional -- we are thankful.

Mr. Burris is more than a 3rd generation expert in plumbing and HVAC services. Mr. Burris is without question the absolute “Master of the Craft”! It has been an honor to have met his team and have them service my home. His savvy-know how, technical expertise and exceptional customer service remind me of the “work ethic” from a bygone era of generations past. He, Ken the plumber, and their team were prompt, efficient, and meticulous in every detail.

My problem was complex and I was very fortunate to find Mr. Burris. I had a burst pipe that prevented me from heating my home. I had previously met with three (3) HVAC specialists that week - including one that regularly advertises on television. I was unimpressed with all three. They boasted about their commercial, industrial and residential experiences but could not offer a “precise” resolution to my problem. I was uncomfortable not knowing what to expect. Fortunately. I received a strong recommendation to call Mr. Burris. When he learned I had no heat, he said “I’m on my way!”

What impressed me most of all was Mr. Burris’s confidence and extensive experience working in a home like mine. Unlike the other HVAC contractors I met. Mr. Burris was very decisive and reassuring. He knows this business. He takes pride in his craft and his family’s tradition of service. True to their motto: “They treat all of their customers like part of the family”.

As soon as he entered my home that evening, he told me it was over 100 years old. He said: “old houses are challenging because they are structurally different than newer, modern homes.” Like an architectural engineer, he knew my home’s plumbing layout, which direction pipes were installed, and the science behind my heating system.

Within minutes, Mr. Burris identified the precise location of my problem. He contacted Ken the plumber and gave him a directive in less than 60 seconds. Both genuinely cared about my comfort and preserving the integrity of my heating system. They were insistent: “We’ve got to get her some heat. The temperature is going to drop below freezing this weekend”.

Ken’s appointment was 9:00 am the following day. He called around 8:00 am and was at my door by 8:30 am. Mr. Burris called several times and even came by my home as added assurance that he stands behind the most exceptional standards of prompt, quality service. Ken and his assistant Willie were like engineers in identifying and resolving my problem. As a follow-up, both Ken and Mr. Burris contacted me in the evening and again early the next day.

My furnace didn’t start up the day before the cold wave came through. I said, Lord who do I call. I was driving on near 87th & Stoney Island where I saw Mr. Burris driving his company truck. I called to schedule service. Mr. Burris came out on time. He discovered the problem immediately which was the fan belt.He made the repair within minutes. Call to make an appointment on Friday and was given a time frame between 10 and 12 today. Not only did no one showed up, I was given a call 5 minutes before 12pm and no one showed up as mentioned. When speaking to Burris, he mentioned to me that he never shows up although that's what I was told would happened and he also mentioned that he had a doctor's appointment which to me didn't make sense if you knew this upfront then why give me the time frame. It's unfortunate that this happens a lot with black owned businesses and this is part of the reason why it's difficult to do business with black owners when you have this lack of professionalism and lack of people showing up when making appointments. It really sucks because, all of the reviews and feedback were promising but I guess everyone's experience is different. Would not Recommend!

Mr. Burris is a rockstar! He was prompt and kept his promise, which is rare these days. I would trust him for any of my plumbing needs!

Mr Burris was professional, courteous, very experienced and God sent. I called him to light the pilot on my electric hot water tank and he noticed that it had water damage from a flood and said we may have to get a new one. He then realized that he could try one more thing and just happen to have the specific wires on hand and he got it working. Fantastic, nothing else. Mr Burris is not only a very nice person (my dog is super picky and immediately felt at ease with him), but more importantly he's incredibly knowledgeable and thorough. Mr. Burris came and unclogged my bathroom tub, I was so worried about how much I would be charged due to I am a woman, his prices are very reasonable. He was very nice and knowledgeable. We called @10AM with basement odor and possible clog issues. Around 2PM - the time promised - Burris & Sons was here and completed the entire call in 30 minutes. As he worked, Mr. Burris explained what he was doing AND what we could do ourselves to stay rid of the smell and keep things flowing. One company quoted $900 to 'fix'.

He also blessed us on maintaining the boiler (possibly extending life another FIVE YEARS!!! What's the dollar value on that? $10K?!). Mr. Burris told us these things because he knows and he wants us to know. THAT is beautiful. The respect and consideration shown the customer, all of the knowledge and gems on ways to maintain our old home are worth way more than the $150 fee we paid. Burris & Sons is a high-quality business, indeed.

Last year when I made an appointment, Mr. Burris did not show up on the agreed date. He said he had it scheduled for a different day and I was willing to reschedule . But when he boasted about being the only one who is fair to “females” who know nothing about HVAC, I’m sure he meant that in the most positive way, but I declined to have him in my home. The company was referred to by a family friend. I had been searching for a plumber for months and the ones who actually gave me a quote it landed in the thousands. I was so distressed until I received a call back from the owner, Mr. Burris! I explained to him what my problem was and immediately he said, Ma'am you have a clogged drained but I needed to explain further because the other quotes indicated that I possibly had roots issues, collapse drains and the list went on. Mr. Burris continued to listen to me and again repeated himself, Ma'am you have a clogged drain.

He quoted me a price and scheduled a visit! Fast forward to the day of service---I greeted him at the gate and showed him the huge basin thingy in my front yard (I just couldn't believe that it was as simple as a clogged drain). He smiled and asked me to direct him to the basement (oh by the way, that's where the issue was), he completed his assessment, retrieved his tools and began to---You guessed it, unclog the drain!!!! I was dumbfounded!!!!!

But here where, I will not only highly recommend him to anyone but promote his business on my social media pages! The floor under the toilet wasn't even so to compensate he installed 2 ring waxes at no additional charge! He wanted to insure me that it wouldn't leak and it wouldn't rock! Now that's REAL consumer service! Mr. Burris' skill and knowledge is phenomenal! He is a master at his craft! Hear me no one else will service my home for heating, cooling and plumbing! When I called Burris and Sons, I didn't expect him to tell me he would come on Sunday. But, Mr. Burris proved to me how dedicated he is to serving his customers., especially after having to see the eye doctor just before arriving at my home. I call this true customer service.
I called him for a problem with my toilet after two other plumbers said I needed a new toilet. Mr. Burris fixed the original problem and saw that I needed a shut-off valve which he also added. He also gave me a lesson on how valuable my toilet is and why I didn't need a new toilet.

I called on a Sunday and set up appointment for Monday. I was called back the same day by Mr. Burris and he had time to check out my issue the same day. While I was trying to avoid plumbers' weekend rates he assured me that there is no difference in cost of service regardless of which day you call them. Mr. Burris was able to quickly diagnose my problem and repair my broken pipes in an expeditious manner. I contacted Mr. Burris on the recommendation of a neighbor. Prior to meeting Mr. Burris, I was told by two other plumbers (allegedly with years of experience) that tree roots had infiltrated the sewer line to such an extent that the only option was to dig up the floor of a finished basement to replace the pipe at a cost of thousands of dollars not including the cost to replace the flooring. I asked them about more conservative options, rodding, Hydro jetting, etc. They ruled all of them out and stated it was beyond repair. They insisted that my only option was to dig and replace. In my first conversation with Mr. Burris, he assured me he had seen this movie before, and he could solve the problem. He diagnosed the problem and cleared the sewer line. Instead of a jack hammer he used his skill, knowledge and experience garnered over 60 years to do what the other plumbers could or would not do at a fraction of the cost of replacing the line. He was prompt, thorough and competent. I am delighted with the outcome. In the future I will only call Burris and Sons for my plumbing needs.

Mr. Burris came out to our home, personally, and boy was he a blessing! Very friendly, very professional, and very knowledgeable. We were without air-conditioning for over a week. The temperatures were in the mid 80s to low 90s and it was miserable. My husband and I called some other contractors and their prices were through the roof! One company told us that we would need a brand new unit and that the cost would be between $3200 and 6000. I called Mr. Burris late at night when I came home from work and discovered I had no heat. First thing the next morning Mr. Burris came to my house personally. He very quickly got all of my radiator heaters/ boiler working. He was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. He knew immediately what was wrong with my heat! Met Mr Burris this summer when he serviced my air conditioner when we bought a home. Winter arrived and my furnace wasn’t giving out the desired heat, called Four Seasons they recommended new furnace. Yet, Mr Burris simply cleaned temperate flame sensor appoint with pressure valve and walked me through how to maintain it no new furnace needed. He educated me, saved us much needed $$ during holiday season along with being honest avoiding an unnecessary purchase since we had only been in our home 6 months.

Mr. Burris came to our home and gave us a fair and honest assessment of our plumbing situation. He looked at the catch basin and the sump pump and could tell at a glance how we use the kitchen sink and what goes down the drain.

I've had Mr. Burris service my steam boiler twice. The first time was just for preventative maintenance, and the second time was for a repair. I have had a hard time finding a highly recommended person who services my area. Mr. Burris drove from the south side to the west side for a pretty small job, and I am grateful for that. I had just closed on my house on 03/26/20 Wednesday, and then discovered a little puddle of water in my basement by the floor drain and furnace today, 03/28/20 Sat. I have not even moved in my house yet so I was freaking out. The home warranty company I purchased, American Home Shield Warranty, were horrible! When I called them to send a plumber, they said they would send one asap and have them call me. Well, I kept calling them, and gave up after waiting for three hours since no one would follow up on my service request.

So, I decided to do a google search for plumbers and found Mr. Burris' company. I decided to call them. Mr. Burris called me in less than an hour and asked what the problem was. When I told him the problem, he said that he was coming right away.

Not only did Mr. Burris diagnose the problem right away, he fixed it. The water turned out not to be anything major. Mr. Burris was honest and he did not try to advantage of me since I was a new homeowner. He went above and beyond his duty. He educated me on my heating, cooling, and plumbing system and that is priceless.

Mr. Burris came to fix my furnace today and did a great job! He was fast efficient and effective! I needed an emergency repair on my sewer. I called a company that I used last year for the same repair(Tippit sewer). I was told this year that I needed new pipes in the ground at the price of $4500. I was willing to do that repair, but I never got a call back to set up the appointment. I looked in the phonebook and found Roto rooters. I gave them a call, I was told ,they needed $525 just to come out and look at the problem. I started checking the phonebook for black owned plumbing businesses. Please stay away from this company! Mr. Burris came over and did not repair furnace. He simply reset the furnace, and was unable to tell me what was wrong with the furnace. He said, if it did it again he would come back out and see what was going on. I called, he was very rude. He told me to do the same thing, reset the board. I explained, that is not doing anything and not solving the problem. He screamed, Im trying to save you money. He then asked, where are you, I replied work, and he hung up.The tenant was at home and I only work around the corner. Stay away from this guy, he lacks customer service, and he is not integral. However, he has the right customer because I will file a lawsuit against him. I don't work well with individuals who are dishonest.

Mr. Burris responded to our call for help when I was at my wits end with my bathtub drain. After doing all I could do to clear the clogged drain , I finally had to throw in the towel. I spoke with Mr. Burris on the phone, explained the problem, he quoted me a price, and arrived at my home within an hour. Mr. Burris and his grandson were respectful, answered my questions, cleaned up the area when they finished, and left me extremely pleased with their work. This was my first time and if I need plumbing services again, I will definitely call them again.

Recently used Burris and Sons for plumbing issues in a family two flat. Mr. Burris responded to our call in a timely manner, came out and assessed the situations and then made the necessary repairs in two units...both were leaking toilets, but different issues. I met Mr Burris 3 years ago after a brand name HVAC repair company told me I needed a NEW furnace. Mr Burris took a look a repaired it for less than $200 since then he has become my go to when I have plumbing, heating or cooling needs. Unlike other companies that keep you waiting. Mr Burris is true to his word of when he can be there and what his price is. In addition, he is always teaching how do the simple repairs instead of looking for opportunities to take my money.

Definitely take advantage of his services. I originally had issues with my shower head with no pressure and my kitchen sink stopping up. Rotoplumber gave me a $3500 dollar estimate and stated all my pipes need to be replaced. He stated he would come after 1 pm he was here at 10::30 am. . He was able to fix the pipes at a beyond responsible price $240 with me being on a strict budget I was beyond pleased. The best part about this experience was he noticed that the water tank heat was super hot and he went down there to cut it down for me as I had no idea how to do it. we ended up talking while he was working and I mentioned the furnace had been replaced and four seasons had disconnected the Central air and quoted me $5000 for it to get fixed. He said he would look into it for me right away for an extra $100 bucks , he went over and beyond . On his hand in knees In my terriblly overgrown back yard and as I was apologizing all he said is “no worries, I just wanna help you out” Great! great! Customer service . He ended up figuring out the problem and referred me to an Electrician to fix the problem. He called the electrician for me and set everything up. His customer service was awesome and he was a tremendous help. I will only go to him for anything including referrals. If you want good work, great customer service please choose him. They don’t make plumber like him anymore.

Mr Burris was a life saver. I had 2 properties last week that had furnace issues. 1 required replacement, and the other one Mr Burris was able to repair it. But the high light was the price of a new furnace he sold it at the cost that he paid for it. No mark up, I have the invoice and the charged me a reasonable installation charge. His no nonsense approach and just being up front is what I would say was very important. And last of all, Mr Burris came to the Englewood area, where 7 other companies that I called, that I found on google, stated that the did not service that area .

I had a sewer line backup, which I mistakingly let Roto Rooter try to service. Roto Rooter charged me a lot and didn't fix the problem. They came back a few days later and claimed it was a collapsed pipe, which they tried charging me $5,500 to replace.

I called Burris & Sons, and they promptly came over to inspect. Mr Burris discovered there were some roots causing the blockage, which he was able to remove in a couple hours. He then sent me a receipt proving he resolved the problem, which I used to get money back from Roto Rooters!

Mr. Burris responded promptly the same day I called. He's courteous and professional. I needed to have my kitchen sink rodded out because it was draining so slow, and because it was a double sink water would back up from one sink to the other. My family has been knowing Mr. Burris for years, and once again, he did not disappoint. I was having issues with the furnace in my attic late Sunday night. I placed a call to the answering service around 11:15pm that night, and surprisingly, I received a call back from Mr. Burris about 15 minutes later. He informed me that he would be there to fix it the next day before noon. He ended up making it to my house around 10:00am and promptly fixed the issue. On his way out the door, I casually mentioned that I was having a problem with my gas fireplace. Lo and behold, he stepped back through the threshold and fixed that too! Mr. Burris is knowledgeable, efficient, and an overall good man. He's my go-to guy for any hvac or electrical issues.

I was recommended Burris & Sons by previous owner of my property. My tenant's furnace went out in the days leading up the polar vortex conditions, so I needed prompt and professional service. While Mr Burris was prompt, he was extremely unprofessional.

While servicing the furnace he proceeded to ask personal questions about my tenant's son's schooling, age, and hobbies making us both uncomfortable. He spent more time prying than actually fixing the furnace, which he did not even do. He did not believe me when I described the furnace malfunctioning and made multiple comments about how women don't check things thoroughly and how men think differently when it comes to these issues. After checking the furnace, he insisted that we stand on a stool to confirm that the air blowing was warm. It was not, but he insisted that it was and that the furnace was fine. He left without fixing anything and charged $100.

He also had difficulty getting up and down from the floor and physically getting around in general, which makes me question his fitness for the job.

After having another professional inspect the furnace, they immediately pinpointed the issue and came back the next day with a replacement part and a new thermostat. No thanks to Burris, the furnace is now operating properly. I would never recommend this company.

I called Burris & sons around 4:30 in the afternoon about my A/C unit leaking. I gave him a description of the problem and he gave me an estimated price and said he can come the same day to look at it so I agreed. when he got there he rushed to the basement sure that he knew what was going on and quickly said that the problem was fixed. I paid the agreed amount of $165 for the whole 3 minutes he was there. and later than night I noticed the the problem was not fixed in fact and was leaking even more. I called back and he agreed to come back the next day and the next day he came and looked at it for a whole 5 minutes and said that the problem was unfixable and no refund would be giving as the $165 was just for him to identify the problem which he didn't do. the next day I called a different company and they came out and properly diagnosed and fixed the a/c unit by taking the actual time to look at the unit and only charged $75 to come out and fix it and told me that if the first person properly looked at it he would've founded the problem right away. I chose Burris because of the good ratings but i think if they are not taking the time the look at things that they should consider retiring or hiring new employees.

Mr. Burris responding in a timely manner. He assessed the problem, keeping me informed of both the problem and type repair needed. Mr. Burris replaced the worn “check valve” resolving my problem with the sump pump. The cost of the repair was reasonable and I would recommend his services to family and friends.

Mr. Burris was a life saver!! I had a major heating and cooling company install a new a/c unit and it was a disaster! They had water draining from the a/c to the overflow pan of my hot water tank. They came back to fix that; then, the a/c began a weird rattling noise. They came back to say the a/c was fine; but, my fan drum was damaged AND I needed a new motor ($2400 approx.) The worker then tried to up sell me a whole new furnace! I put him out. A friend told me to call Burris and sons. Mr. Burris confirmed the bad fan drum; but, assured me the motor was fine. He came back the next day with the replacement drum and I was rolling in cool air, again. Mr. Burris was up front and honest in his dealings. I am so happy I called him out for a second opinion. I definitely recommend him.

Mr. Burris came out to work on New Year's Eve and again on New Year's Day and I mean he came to work. On time, fired up and ready to go. He identified and explained the issues and solutions in layman's terms that I understood. His proposed solutions is at the fraction of the cost other companies insist is the only solution. It’s a great feeling knowing that there are still a a few professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy (not scheming and scamming) plumbers in Chicago... I called Roto Rooter at 9a.m. and they have yet to show up and it is now 5 p.m. ABC plumbing doesn’t frequent this side of town and some other place wants $99 to run a diagnostic test to see what’s wrong or $99 just for making that trip. My sump pump was faulty and caused water damage in my basement due to about 2 -3 inches of water after heavy rains in late June 2018. Mr. Burris was very punctual and he quickly found the problem - a blockage caused by debris in my sump pump. He fixed my problem by simply cleaning the sump pump. My Grandma has a furnace that keeps going out. she tried a couple different contractors and still didn't have heat. I called Mr. Burris. He came right out, did some trouble shooting and fixed what no one else could. He didn't take advantage and he could have. his services were very reasonable. Burris & Sons was only company in area that listed itself as 24 hours that actually responded to an emergency call in the evening. My furnace which had worked all day with no problem suddenly stopped. Mr. Burris traced the issue to find the simple problem. On an evening where a storm and cold temperatures were coming through Mr Burris got the furnace working again.

I highly recommend using Burris & Sons for all of your plumbing and heating needs. We kept having the same problem with the shower drain. 3 weeks ago, the owner of the company came out to repair my outdoor water faucet that wouldn’t shut off. When he arrived he was unable to repair it at the time because he said I needed a part. He took my broken part with him so that he could purchase the proper part and scheduled to come back 2 days later. At this visit he charged me $145 service fee although the job was not complete. I asked can I pay half now and the other half after completion on the 2nd visit and he said no. Needless to say he never showed up for the 2nd visit to actually fix the problem. He was a no call, no show. Someone from his company called hours after the given appointment time frame saying he will not make it and someone will get back to me. I never received a call, I’ve called numerous times to inquire but no one answers the phone or returns my calls. This company was a complete ripoff, they took my money, never fixed the problem and then ignored me!

Grateful for the service and education Mr. Burris provided. He took the time to show us ways to maintain our plumbing and easily fixed the issue with out toilet. Would definitely recommend!

I spoke with a technician from this company regarding the services they needed to complete for a mutual customer. Just asking for prices towards the potential repairs set this angry old man off. I speak to hundreds of service technicians in my position and have never had someone act so disrespectfully and unprofessionally. He wants to charge $800 for a cleaning, a bit of freon and a capacitor. Be sure not to ask him how his prices are broken down per repair, that gets him upset; he will not have someone else ‘dictating his pricing’ (or evening asking about it apparently)! Comparable prices for the same recommended services are commonly around $400-450. He’s not doing his neighborhood any favors by trying to rob them blind— hard to believe a business operates this way.

I recently had a sewage backup. It was awful! First I went to Roto Rooters because they offered a 6 month guarantee. A month later the issue returned. Mr. Burris came to my home, with his nephew and got the job done. After the big storm with tornado warnings we had this past Sunday, my life was a nightmare. The storm flooded my basement. This water rose high above my ankles throughout the entire basement. It damaged the hot water tank and no hot water for 2 days. This rain kept falling every night for 3 days. I bought a utility pump and it worked to keep the water down and I was able to have the hot water tank repaired. I called around several places and Burris and Sons was recommended by another plumber. I contacted his office and he came out within hours.

Mr. Burris is very thorough and explained to me step by step what he was doing and how he was solving the problem. Unfortunately, the lights in the basement did not work, but this did not stop Mr. Burris from completing this nightmare of clogged sewers. He knew the layout of my basement without me telling him where to go. He cut out the tree roots from the sewer and it was a big relief for me. He made sure that the water in every sewer hole was rodded and I watched the water go down in all of the drains and the big sewer hole in my backyard as well. He informed me on what I should do to keep this from repeating.
