Called Alpine back in Feb 2017 because I wasnât getting enough hot water. Was told I needed a new hot water heater, to the tune of around $1700. When I called back a few weeks later and explained that this didnât fix the problem, I basically got the cold shoulder, no attempt to correct or address the issue.
Several months later, I had an issue with mold in the utility room. Upon investigating, my husband and I found that one of the HVAC drain hoses was up against the wall, nowhere near the floor drain, causing condensate to run under the wall. I canât prove that their installer moved it, but he was the last one in there, and judging by the quality of the cleanup, I definitely wouldnât be surprised.
A few weeks ago (June 2021), I noticed I had no hot water on a Sunday evening. Circuit breaker was tripped. Thought, âweird, but maybe has something to do with everyone running AC with the heat waveâ, so reset it. Still no hot water. Called the 24 hour âhotlineâ and left a message. No call back. Called Monday morning, left a message. Received a voicemail an hour or so later that someone could be out today in the afternoon, and I should call back to confirm if that worked for me, when I called back (within two minutes of it being left), a most unpleasant woman told me that they had a tech available, but was he now booked, as I hadnât called back quickly enough and I could either pay them for overtime to come out that night or wait until tomorrow. When I explained how unhappy I was and how wrong I thought that was, I was told to call someone else.
After making a few more calls, my husband ended up taking a look at it. First thing he found was that the flexible conduit running to the heater was as loose as can be on the water heater end. On inspecting connections to the incoming power, one of the wire nuts had melted, then wires melted through the plastic inside the connection area, shorting to the shell of the heater (ground). Note that the melted wire nut was apparently yellow (see pic). My husband noted that per the package of wire nuts, âyellowâ is undersized for this application (2 x #10 AWG), they both should have been red, as the other one was. Oh, and the conduit was so loose because the hole in the cover was about 3 sizes too big for the fitting used- and rather than use a couple of $0.59 reducing washers, they just flopped it together as is.
As my husband put it, one doesnât need to be an electrician to figure something like this out â I would surely expect someone who installs stuff like this to know how to use the right fittings and components. Thank God for circuit breakers, or my house almost surely would have burned downâŠ

Milwaukee Plumbing did some rough plumbing work at my house for a remodeling project/bathroom addition. The plumbers who worked on the job were courteous and did quality work quickly. Joe the plumber even came back at no charge and helped us troubleshoot fixtures we were having issues with (that Milw Plumbing did not install). I will have them out again if I have any plumbing issues.

Should have called before I wasted $100.00 to rent a 100' drain snake from Home Depot; the machine Darrel brought was ten times stronger than the rental. Basement drain was backed up, and flooded more whenever water was used anywhere in the house. I called and he quoted me $200 based on my description of the problem. Was late for the morning appointment so I had to reschedule for later that evening (by this time heavy rain was coming down and the basement was starting to flood, so another $100 on a utility pump & hose from Menard's to keep the water at bay until he arrived) but $t happens, so I didn't take a star away for that-he came back later that same day. Had the drain down within 10-15 minutes and spent another 10-15 cleaning the pipe out just to make sure things were taken care of. The best part: the quote he gave me on the phone was exactly what he charged me. If you have drain issues CALL ROOTER-MAN!!!

Had an initial bad experience with one of their techs. We talked with the owner who was apologetic and offered to have a different tech come out and take a look at our problem. The next tech came out and was able to help us while also being polite. Itâs good to know there are still companies out there that care about their customers and customer satisfaction/service. The owner was very nice to work with and talk with.

PJ is terrible. After having him out to work on 2 different water heaters on my property, neither one was ever fixed. The one in my house we paid the bill, even though it was never fixed. After I did some investigating of my own, I figured out the dip switches were set for natural gas instead of propane. Really.......?! The certified technician couldnât figure that out. He told us to run bigger gas lines and do a bunch of unnecessary things, but it was the dip switches. The last time I had him come work on the heater in my outbuilding. It was the only source of heat for the shop so I asked if he could get out as soon as possible. Here is where the he gets completely unprofessional. He said he would see if he can get someone out and call me back. He called back and said a tech was in the area and on his way. He sent him out during normal business hours and the tech did all of the same things I had already done (and I told him that I had done them) . Then he gave some more ideas of things we could do to change it. He left and of course the heater went out. I didnât even call and complain , it was clear they didnât know what they were doing even though they are supposed to specialize in the type of heater we had. Time goes by and we get the bill... he charged a $150 âemergencyâ charge for coming during normal business hours when a tech was nearby. Never told me there would be a charge to get him out same day. Had he informed me of the âemergency â fee ahead of time I would have been fine with it. I called and after a heated conversation he agreed to drop the âemergencyâ and I said I would pay when I got the new bill (I wonât pay on the verbal agreement to drop charge as there is no proof the charge was dropped). Never heard from him. No bill was sent, no call was made. Instead of doing what he said he would do he let time pass and then tried putting a lien on my house. Called him back and conversation got very heated again as he was Sarcastic and condescending to me , laughing and telling me he would be owning my house soon. Asked me âwhat are you going to do about it, your a tough guy on the phoneâ.He also said he isnât dropping the charge now. I am going to pay it as it is very clear he needs the money more then I do, but will also be notifying proper people of his actions. He claims he called but my wife and myself never had a voicemail. Itâs not about the money, its the principle of everything. Do yourself a favor and stay away you would be better off looking up a YouTube video and fixing it yourself with no experience.
