Best Residential Repairs in Milwaukee WI
The floor drain in our basement backed up after a load of laundry. After reading many positive reviews we went with Tuffy’s.
The following is a summary of our appointment. I will itemize my issues (there are many) for easier reading.
1. The two employees did not introduce themselves upon arrival.
2. The older employee was slurring his speech and could hardly walk. The company said (after the fact) that he has a disability, but he could easily have been mistaken for drunk. Disability or no, his condition affected his ability to do the work in a safe and efficient manner. I’m glad we weren’t paying by the hour.
3. This employee was so unsteady on his feet that he was holding onto the copper pipes in our basement ceiling and running into items in our basement. Our young son was interested in watching the work, but was sent upstairs for fear he would be injured by this employee.
4. The employees did not listen to my wife when she tried to tell them where the access pipe was. They proceeded to move boxes and items in our basement even after my wife asked them to stop. Communication may have been better had the older employee been able to speak clearly. The younger employee hardly spoke at all.
5. The younger employee dropped their large piece of gravy equipment halfway down our basement stairs.
6. The older employee began to cut the cap off our access pipes without asking if this was ok. My wife had to stop him to get an explanation. Clearly it needed to be done to complete the work, but again, he couldn’t communicate clearly. At $40 per cap, this is not something you just do without explanation.
7. After the employees left, I noticed a large puddle in our driveway. Upon closer inspection, it was URINE. We have a dog, but he does not urinate in that quantity, much less on the driveway. I smelled it. I’m positive it was HUMAN URINE, in the location of the work truck door. The only explanation I can think of is that one of the employees pissed in our driveway. Perhaps it wasn’t overtly malicious...perhaps one of the employees pissed their pants. I’m more inclined to believe that they used a bottle to piss in while on the road, and decided to dump their piss in our driveway. Regardless, this is inexcusable.
8. I wanted to contact the company the evening of our appointment, but my wife, who was visibly upset over all of this, said she would contact the company the following day after she had time to calm down. When she called, we were berated for not being more understanding of the older employees condition. No apologies. Only unkind words.
In summary, the work that needed to be done was eventually completed, but our experience with the employees was poor. The employees that did work for us were bumbling, at best. The word I’m more inclined to use is “incompetent.” Were a simple disability the only issue, I might be able to give a more positive review, but I cannot overlook the safety issues, the lack of communication, or the PISS in our driveway. On top of it all, the company was not able to offer an apology. Would not recommend.

We called them in June to install a Nest Thermostat in our home. We have three thermostats, so I didn't expect it to be easy, but I thought a professional could figure it out….or know enough to tell us that they weren't going to work. It took Jared 2 hours to install one of them and he was very proud that he made it work, but even after he left I had a feeling that something was wrong. Four months later when we switched to Heat, we couldn't get any warm air to blow in the upstairs zone. I called Dickenschrauf to see if they would come look at it to make a wrong a right, but they weren't willing to come without the minimum service charge. I am a reasonable person and would have paid them if it was unrelated to the Nest install, but they were very defensive about and I didn't want to risk it since I felt they had the upperhand and could have told me it was un-related when maybe it really was all related. I hired another Contractor who came and very quickly assessed (and confirmed with the Manufacturer) that our HVAC System is not compatible with the Nest thermostats. I am now back to our original setup, but have spent hundreds of dollars on service & have a Nest I can no longer use or return. I wish the Technician would have had the knowledge, resources, and experience to tell me that the Nest was not going to work for our System rather than spend time trying to get it to partially work. I am disappointed in the whole process and hope they learn from this situation and spare someone else the headache and expense.

We hired them to replace the shut off valve for our outdoor water spigot two years ago. When we turned on the valve this spring it had a massive leak from where the pipes were soldered. When we called them to repair the leaky pipe they wanted to charge us a minimum of $175 for a service fee. We feel that they should have repaired the leaky soldering for no charge because a soldered pipe should last much longer than two years before it leaks! Because of the poor quality of the work and the fact that they do not stand behind their work we will never hire this company again!

They came to help solve our problem. We had a leaking water heater. Problem fixed. In need of a 24 hours plumbing company? This is the company to-go-to. Oh I almost forgot its 11 PM when I called.

You more than likely will have a decent experience with Hagen. However, when things go wrong after the fact, that is the true test of a company's character/service. I would avoid Hagen.

Highly recommend Alpine for your plumbing and air conditioning needs. Unfortunately I've had to use them for each of those. But they were prompt and very professional and got me back up and going extremely fast!

Vince was great to work with, communicated very well, and was very straightforward and honest throughout the process. His team was also very flexible with working around my time restrictions. I’ll be using them again moving forward and would recommend them to anyone in the Milwaukee Area!

We enjoyed a very positive experience with Borth-Wilson. The workmanship was excellent, as was their communication through the two projects. Their approach of waiting for all materials to arrive before beginning work ensured the projects would proceed on time. Each week, we received a schedule for the coming week’s work, and they were true to their word throughout. In addition to adhering to the schedule, they also stuck to the budget. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I've been a Knauer customer for over thirty years, and have always found them to be courteous, prompt, cost-competitive, and efficient. I've had my furnace, water heater and airconditioning installed and serviced with Knauer and have always had an excellent experience. It's nice having familiar service people and staff to talk to about my issues. They always know who I am and treat me like I matter.

My condo board has requested Heiden come out and repair hose bibbs. They leak into unit ground floor closets which causes a real mess. We have been trying to get them to correct work they have done, they are really dragging their feet. We have a warrentee on work they did for our condo. We cannot turn on our outside water until Heiden fixes problem.
