My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

Phoenix Home Remodeling did our master bath remodel and we were very pleased with the process and the results. From the planning to the final walkthrough everything was done in professional and courteous manner. The quality of work was superb and the finished product was exactly how it was designed. I normally do not do reviews or recommendations companies unless I REALLY like them, or I REALLY had a terrible experience with them and I want to tell people to stay away!! This one is because I absolutely trust Holtzman and would recommend them to ANYONE looking to remodel their home!! This will be my 3rd major project that I have used Holtzman for. I started using them back in 2008 when Brandon and his crew built my daughters bedroom for her and did other remodeling projects around our house. The bedroom was of course beautiful complete with a walk in closet, custom built in shelving and chair rail in the room. She was so happy! It was beautiful and it was a great addition to the house! I then used them when we decided to buy a rental property and make some changes to update the house before putting it on the market for renters. Things like updating the flooring, countertops and bathrooms. Once again, they did not disappoint! Everything was beautiful and we had renters in no time at all! This time was no different! We decided to buy another property to rent but we were on a strict time schedule! I flew in from out of town, called Judy and told her my situation and that afternoon I was meeting with Paul! By the next day I had a quote and a plan and everything was good!
Yes, there have been delays but that is to be expected. But I will also say, Brandon himself went and did a walk through before things started and found mold and water damage. Had he not done that we would have never known. Some contractors could have just let it go and just covered it up! But of course Brandon let us know and the project had to stop while that was taken care of properly. It just shows Holtzman does care about what they are doing and that they take the time to do it right. I would rather have some delays then have people rushing to get things done and it not be done right.
Yes, I think they are a little higher priced. But I also believe you get what you pay for. I think their communication is great, Brandon always gets back to me. Holtzman has treated us like family since 2008, and they continue to do so through this crazy condo remodel of mine today! So thank you to Brandon and his entire Holtzman team!

Neoteric Builders completed a whole house remodel, top to bottom. The workers were friendly and professional, work completed as promised and the result is a beautiful “new” home! I would not hesitate to use them again and certainly recommend them.

Anthony was very helpful and very knowledgeable his prices can't be beat. I was very impressed with his showroom and the one on one atinchen I received..The kitchen turned out amazing will definitely do island with him and refer him to anyone who needs any remodeling done.

Honest and reliable

We contracted with Custom Creative to remodel our home, with the bulk of the work involving the kitchen, master bathroom, guest bathroom and flooring throughout the house. The tile and counter work is exceptional. Although the flooring was all the same material, that part of the job was complicated and labor intensive because the flooring pattern changed from room to room. Time management was a weak spot, as the job completion date was pushed out on more than one occasion. In spite of this shortcoming, our assigned manager, Mehul Mistry, was always accessible and a pleasure to work with.

Serranos was the best priced countertop installers in town. We priced several other local shops and Serranos was by far the best. Installation was very good and we are very pleased with the results! We would definitely recommend them.

Upon a bathroom remodel we wished done, we called Legacy Design. At first the lady Beth was very helpful. Going through ways to save but knew what we wanted. Our job was not big at all just a simple shower remodel to a walk in for an older woman who needed it.

We set up the appointment. My schedule is very tight and my time like anybodies is very valuable. Well they pretty much completely did not show. The next day Beth apologized and took requirements for the remodel and said she would call me back with an estimate as making it out that day would be impossible with such a busy day she can't even make up for missing out on an scheduled appointment but I still gave them the benefit of the doubt.

She called back but this time her tone was different. She was not as cheery as before and sounded like she was making excuses for us to not want to take the job or a reason. by giving an outragous estimate nearly 3x the amount that other experienced contractors were offering for the bid and a reason for her guys not to make an actual appointment to give us a real estimate.. I asked her to send me the estimate via email and said she would get it to me and I would have called her back after I reviewed it. Never received the email nor follow up call.

Even though our job was small, they all start somewhere and referrals, word of mouth, go along way in adding business. I can not recommend this business as its product may be amazing as I am sure it is, but its service is disappointing.

I have used this company twice now for roof repair.
They are very honest, excellent quality, great communication, reasonably priced. They even clean up after they are done.
If you need a roofer, this is the company to use.

Best Company we hired by far/ Highly competent and professional company were have ever hired. Mike provided constant oversight and communicated project status on a regular basic. We like the fact that this was a family owned business. The owners are so professional. We received calls from Judy asking how are project was going and always made sure we were happy. If there were any issues or if she could help with anything along the way. Their employees are top notch. Each one of them took care of our home like it was there own. clean and professional in every way. The workmanship and quality you wont find better any were. These guys did a phenomenal job with the work they provided! From the drywall repair to the smart lighting controls and the interior painting, they did great work and came to me highly recommended.

Trevor is one of the nicest contractors I’ve worked with. He is very knowledgeable in just about everything and will do his due diligence if he isn’t familiar with something. He is very honest and very competitive with pricing. I would highly recommend him for any project you have in mind.

We used Atelier507 to remodel the tiling of our master bathroom shower, add a niche, and update the water fixtures. Throughout the entire process, they were very responsive, provided 3D renderings of what the final look would be and would update the renderings for any detail we want to add/remove/adjust. Atelier507 also provided progress photos during and after the project. They did an excellent job and were very professional. We are very satisfied with the final look of our shower. I highly recommend using them!

Juan and his crew are very skilled and the best at what they do! Their work is very through and the make sure every detail is taken care of on every job. G&C have worked with me on numerous project all throughout the valley. They are great to work with because Juan does a great job of listening to my needs and understanding exactly what I need done. He often will come up with better solutions to getting the the bumps in the construction road that help get us to completion on time!
