My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

They had done kitchen remodeling, and I have already booked them for my bathroom service. Highly impressed with their timely service. Good work.

We recently had our entire home remodeled by Crafted, and we are glad to have chosen Mike and his team to do the job.

From the get-go, Mike was a pleasure to deal with. He was super responsive to inquires, met on time, and produced detailed quotes promptly. That excellent communication was consistent throughout the entire work.

What I appreciate the most is how patient Mike was when it came to change orders and questions. I probably asked more than average amount of questions and quotes that a contractor would get in a job...but Mike answered them all professionally and promptly. Not to mention Mike also gave out lots of good suggestions to our remodeling.

In the end, Mike finished the job on time, earlier than estimated, and we are happy to see how much has the house gotten better now.

Our recent shower installation by Rebath was not the same excellent experience as our previous one, 1 year ago.
A couple of months ago, Rebath removed an old jet tub and old shower then installed a new custom, walk-in shower with bench in our master bathroom. They told us it would take 3 days. It took 6 days. Plus, another week because they dropped one of our glass doors during installation and had to order another one. Plus, we had to get them back out 2 more times for a leak in the wall and a shower head that would not stop running. I do give Dale kudos for coming out and fixing everything right and as quickly as he could. We had absolutely not one problem with our first Rebath shower installation, and it took 2.5 days to complete.

Re-bath - the installer was always on time. I believe his name was Chris! He was very clear on what he was doing, did not mess up our home and was very conscientious of delivering on time. He even did some minor additional accessory installations to our job, for which we r very appreciative! Jim and team - listen to our concerns about the glass door for the shower and addressed all our concerns. Thank you so much for listening to your client! It is refreshing to see a ve for that cares for its customers the way you did. Last but not least, your utilization of technology to keep the process moving an on time was fantastic. Scotty did 2 full bathroom remodels for us! My stress was relieved instantly the minute he agreed to take on our project. Scotty communicated how things were going the whole way through. From the first meeting with James, I was impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. He took pictures of the kitchen and explained what I was looking at and allowed me to ask questions. The second meeting was to discuss installation details. He was also very attentive and told me he would be on site and to direct any questions to him during the installation. I received personal attention every step of the way and the kitchen looks fabulous!!

A couple years ago a friend gave me a recommendation for a contractor she used as I was getting ready to do a big remodel of our master bathroom & bedroom. I called and Ross promptly called me back. He told me he would come out and look at what we wanted to do and would then give us a quote. Well, he came over on a Saturday and met with my husband & I. Ross had a lot of good suggestions we went with. We relied on his expertise and reputation and we are so glad we did! Our project turned out better than I could have imagined! Everyone who has ever seen it is blown away. Ross is a perfectionist and I really appreciate that about him. He was at our house, on time every day of the project. Fast forward 2 years. We decided to remodel our guest bathroom and I didn't even have to think about it. If Ross couldn't do it, it wasn't getting done. He has spoiled us because he takes such pride in his work. I am so glad I decided to go with Maxum for my kitchen remodel. The process from start to finish was obviously a messy task and interesting to get used to with your kitchen torn apart but man were they great. The communication was top notch, the workers kept the space clean as best they could and were very respectful. My questions were always answered on a timely manner and they made it seem like a breeze. I highly recommend them for any of your remodel projects. I will be using them again. Thanks guys!

We reached out to this Rise Above by referral, and they came out to our home, measured, and spent a lot of time understanding our needs, which are all rather basic: media wall, small guest bath remodel, and tile flooring. We kept getting promises of we'll gt back to you in a few days over and over, and then after a month, Colton claims, I am in NY till next Tuesday. I was getting double checked on what I want to put together for your wall... as soon as I get my double check approx, I will let you know.. Another week goes by w/ nothing, then Colton promised that they will shoot you the numbers by Friday. Fri came and went, and after another week, Colton emails,... we are going to pass on your home project. A lot of the changes you are asking for are just not our specialty...

What??! They said onsite in our home that this is exactly what they specialize in, and it is all very basic.

Update: Spoke w/ Bret who noted there may have been an attitude issue (Colton's??) and would personally come out to our home to review, and confirm who is blowing smoke. That was days ago, and Bret has failed to contact us as he promised.

We're very frustrated ...Rise Above wasted a lot of our time, and now we have to start all over. Don't waste your time w/ Rise Above.
