This is as professional as it gets folks.

I had a leaking water heater and contacted 3 companies for quotes/estimates on a replacement. One company told me that I should make sure I know what getting with any quotes less than theirs since it wouldn't likely be up to code.

Not only did Joseph provide the best quote, he provided a detailed estimate within hours, thoroughly explained what I would get (which included more than the company I spoke with), showed up on time, explained everything again, worked fast, cleaned up like no one was ever there, and then showed me all of the work including the items that were implemented to meet code. His partner Adam was professional and knew his stuff as well.

Midtown Plumbing recently completed a challenging project on an investment property that included re-plumbing most of the house, replacing all of the plumbing fixtures and water heater, and bringing the plumbing up to current code. I recently relocated to Raleigh and had some work done on the house that required the carpenters to remove the toilet to lay down a wood floor. It was obvious that the wax seal had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. I researched plumbers on YELP and found that CK Plumbing had excellent reviews. I called to make an appointment and everyone I dealt with was helpful and friendly. Sean and his coworker showed up at my house on schedule, re-placed the wax ring and re-seated the toilet. The charge was what was quoted. I won't hesitate to call them again for more work, or when I redo my bathroom.

Joe did a job for us last summer. It was cutting cast iron plumbing which can be brittle and hard to work with to connect to new PVC. I was very nervous about the job because of research on cutting cast iron work - it can be a disaster. He was extremely professional and respectful of my home. He got the job done at the estimated price, and he showed up on time with the proper tools and supplies. If you've worked with any contractors or subcontractors before, you will understand the importance of these qualities. I would feel comfortable recommending to a friend or colleague and/or use him again. I coordinated with and paid him directly, but he was recommended by a GC.

It was easy to make an appt., they stuck to their time window and did a great job installing our new garbage disposal.

Disappointing. I was referred to Optimal Plumbing. The owner came out, looked at the problem I was having, said he would look for the parts he needed and call me back so we could start the work. He never called back. I called and left three messages and still no return calls. If he didn't want the job, the proper thing to do would have been to be up front about that, instead of wasting my time and causing the work to be deferred while I waited on him to return my calls!

On time, on budget, courteous plumbers, great experience.

Had my water heater start leaking bad late the other night, I was able to get it shut off and called Carolina Plumbing the next morning. They adjusted thier schedule and had it replaced the same day I called. Guys were awesome and very professional while working in my house even when I wasn’t there. Would definitely recommended you give them a call, they have my business for as long as I’ll ever need a plumbing company. Thanks again Carolina Plumbing!

Do not use! I chose John Hutchins’ company because he seemed very knowledgeable and was priced reasonably. The project started off well enough to get the big draws, but then started dragging and dragging. It was like pulling teeth to get them to do work. Finally they just stopped showing up. I had another plumber come in to finish the job. The mistakes he had to correct from John’s guys have cost me thousands of dollars.

Update: once my review was posted, my issue was promptly dealt with and heating fixed the same day. So I feel it's fair to update from 1 star to 3. Thanks for addressing it.

We're disappointed to have to leave a poor review, but we have a cold house and a sick toddler, and temps continue to drop, and we haven't heard from Newcomb since a tech diagnosed a blower motor failed and had to be replaced last Thursday. We were told we'd be squeezed in on Friday if possible, but that they'd call Friday either way. We have had to call for updates. They did not call or show on Friday. They did not call or show on Monday (yes, I know it was a holiday; it didn't keep the house any warmer). They did not call today. We have had to call and ask what's going on. Beyond such unprofessional communication, it's hard for me to believe that a blower motor could not be obtained in a more timely fashion from somewhere local, knowing how cold it is and knowing we have a particularly vulnerable person at home. We still don't know if they'll get the part on time or when they might come install it. Going to buy space heaters for the downstairs unit because we can't use over half our house without putting our coats on. I would like to update this review if the company gets it together and gets our heat fixed, but as of now, not only can I not recommend them, I cannot let this go by without putting in a review. It's the only thing I have control over in this entire transaction.
