Best Plumbing Service in Minneapolis MN

If we could, we would have given 0 (zero) star. TJ was brought in to our house by a seasoned contractor who was renovating our laundry room. The initial estimate that our contractor set aside for this work was $562.50. All TJ’s folks had to do were to bring in the washer and the dryer from the adjacent garage to the laundry room, set the water connections to these two units, install a new DURATUB laundry sink, set water connections to the new laundry sink, and connect the dryer vent to the existing vent. TJ also provided some materials including braided supply tubes. The bill for the work that TJ provided was $1398, a whopping 248% increase! We thought we were completely ripped. When we complained to our contractor, the contractor did understand our frustration and he took a hit on his profit margin.

I have had them service my house twice now and haven't had a single good experience.

The first time I wasn't given a single quote and then was charged hundreds more than I was expecting to pay for a simple expansion tank replacement on my boiler furnace.

The second time the plumber took 5 hours to replace my water heater and I was charge $200 over the quoted price. This was after I had to go through multiple emails of sending them photos and measurements, all while waiting a week without hot water. On top of that when the plumber soldered the pipes he mentioned There might be some soldering residue in the pipes. Just run the water till it comes out clear and you should be fine. Thanks to the small of amount of residue both my bathroom shower and sink faucet were clogged. What kind of plumber doesn't make sure the water works back to normal, hot and clear before leaving the house? Absolutely annoying that after paying hundreds over the quoted price I still had to go in and unclog the mess their plumber left in my pipes.

Edit: Minnesota Plumbing and Heating reached out to me and talked through the problems and issues I had with their service. Although I still originally had a negative experience, I was impressed that they took the time to correct the issues I had with my experience and act on my feedback.

Really good experience. Deven showed up on time, called me on his way, wore booties while in the house to keep the dirt down, and was incredibly professional in my house. He walked me through the entire process and left me his personal phone number to call back with any questions. If I have additional work to do I will definitely be using this company.

Had an issue with sewer backup in my basement. Roto Rooter quoted me $3500 to solve the issue. I called Jake the Plumber and talked to them about the issue. They were very courteous over the phone and asked that I send pictures so they could best prepare for the service call. Over the course of the visit, three guys were at my house and all three were very friendly. When they arrived they expressed concern that the job could be larger than originally anticipated. However, they proposed (and took) a different approach that saved me several hundred dollars and thousands from what Roto Rooter quoted me. I could tell they wanted to do right by me and not overcharge me for unnecessary repairs. They took the time to explain the issue to me, what my options were, and what they did to solve it. These guys checked all the boxes that I look for in a company and I’ll definitely be working with them again in the future. Highly recommend.

Roto-Rooter was quick to respond to my phone call. They were easy to get in touch with and to get a tech out to our home immediately. The service tech Derek did a great job explaining what was happening and how the problem could have occurred in the first place. Service was prompt and non-intrusive.

This is a great plumbing company. I have been using and recommending them since 2003.

I started out calling another plumber who arrived but did not have the proper tools to clear out the main drain. He finally gave up and said that I should call rotor rooter. Roto router was able to come out 45 minutes later on a Sunday with the proper tools and cleared the drain.

Took a couple visits but fixed the leak. Always on time.

The technicians were very professional and well trained. It was good to talk to a person when I called. The only hiccup was they sent the wrong softener. That was quickly remedied. They had to replace my water intake main valve which wasn't shutting off. Job well done. And communications was excellent all around.

AC instalation

Charged us $100.00 for a service call to attend to a leaky refrigerator. Did not have the needed parts and said they would order and return. 10 weeks and many unreturned phone calls later we gave up and called Thomas Service Company. Thomas Service Company had parts available and fixed frig in under 15 minutes.
Plus Maintenance is unreliable and unprofessional and we would never use them again nor recommend.

2017 I did Phase I of a big renovation and spent 19K with Steinkraus and when I got the bill I asked for back up documentation to support the invoice and was given the run around and an answer well we aren't the cheapest plumbers and we need to cover overhead. When we started Phase II we really like the plumber and thought let's give them a second try and asked for another person to be our contact. They sent the owner Merle and he did a bid which we signed but stated we were concerned that some of Phase III might be included but were told don't worry we will be fair and take care of you. When I got the 17K bill I had kept track of all the hours. I am about 5K in the dark how they came up with the total and they refuse to itemize the invoice. My advise is if you work with them it is time and materials and you ask for documentation. The time spent on site for Ryan was a total of 67 x $135.00 = $9045.00 plus $1000.00 Material plus fixtures $2440.00 =$12, 485.00. Even if you added on a 20% management fee it still would be below the $17,210.00 invoice I received. So basically they charged me $205.00 an hour? I just wish they felt the need to walk me through all the charges but they have no interest. The good news we think our plumber was great just not the front office. The bad news is we have Phase III and can't use them. 5 Stars for plumbing!
