Foul odor was detected around the area of my one piece toilet and the clear caulk between the toilet and the floor was loose. Upon plumber's arrival (Yovani Cruz), it was determined that the 1 5/8 inch gap space between the back of the toilet tank and the wall was most likely the source of the problem as someone may have leaned back against the tank, lifting it from the front (much like a rocking chair). The toilet was removed and the plumber found that one of the two plastic screws that secured the toilet to the flange was cracked. Both screws were removed and replaced with metal ones; the area was thoroughly cleaned; a new wax ring was placed over the flange and the toilet reinstalled. Plastic shims were used to level it properly and grout instead of caulking was used this time to seal the seat to the floor. I was advised not to use it for 48 hours to allow for proper grout cure. I proceeded to purchase not 2 but 4 tank braces to fill the gap between the tank and the wall to avoid any movement in case someone reclines against it. Plumber also provided great maintenance tips. Good work!

I've used Miami Shores Plumbing for the past 20 years. They have handled everything from a total renovation of 2 of my bathrooms, installing a new water heater, and minor plumbing needs. More recently they handled the replacement of all of my sanitary pipes under my home, with new PVC leading all the way to the City hook-up. It was a complicated job and very time consuming. They had to dig under my home to gain access to each bathroom and kitchen, cut out the old cast iron pipes, and replace with new PVC piping.
