Rooter-Man Plumbing Austin TX Plumber
Jason went above and beyond to repair my toilet/ drain problem. He was prompt on his arrival and arrived exactly when the company said he would. His estimate was very reasonable, even so. He removed the toilet and reset with a new wax ring, there was still a problem with the toilet backing up as it wasn't just leaking from the wax ring, but also jammed/plugged up. So he had to remove the toilet a second time, fight to figure out the blockage which he was successful with. So with the job taking twice as long as expected, there was no extra charge or change in the original estimate. As a second bonus I asked him if he could change the cartridge in the kitchen faucet. I had purchased one but hadn't had time to install. I fully expected and even mentioned him adding a charge for this. He replaced the cartridge and said don't worry about this, no extra charge In the plumbing industry, these actions are very hard to come by. I will definitely call them again and even request Jason.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumber
I wasted my entire weekend waiting for a technician that I had an appointment with Saturday at 10am. I kept getting calls all day Saturday being told someone was still coming. Then finally Saturday evening they called and told me they would schedule me for Sunday morning at 8am. I got one phone call at 10:30am to tell me someone would still be coming. It's 7pm Sunday evening. Still no plumber and not got any further calls. Completely unacceptable.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of South Austin Plumber
Worst plumbing experience in 15 years living in Austin. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was booked via HomeAdvisor to come to my house between 15:00-18:00 on 07/06/19 to fix a small bathroom facet leak. At that time on 07/06/19 Fred called and let me know that they were stuck on a job with another customer with no water. I agreed to postpone their visit for a week since the existing customer’s need was greater than mine. Fred stated that in appreciation of my understanding he would reduce the callout fee to $59. This meant the costs of the job would be $59 plus parts which were a replacement putty plate for a Delta faucet (a standard item that costs a few bucks). The new appointment was set for 08:00 on 07/13/19. At 08:20 Benjamin Franklin Plumbing called me to check that I was home. I pointed out that their plumber was 20 minutes late and was told that they do not even dispatch a plumber (despite an appointment having been made) until they confirm the home owner is at home. After 09:00 the plumber arrived (with no parts), sat on the edge of our bathtub for 20 minutes complaining about getting his computer to work, not even looking at the job itself, then stated that the cost of the job would be $646 to rebuild the faucet. This price included $152 to go collect the part that he hadn’t brought with him. Needless to say I was absolutely disgusted by this behavior. Not only did the plumber not inspect the required work in any meaningful way but trying to charge us $646 for a job that should have taken 20 minutes and which Benjamin Franklin Plumbing had already stated should have costed less than $65 was totally and utterly unacceptable. I therefore asked him to leave, logged on to YouTube, figured out how to perform this simple operation myself, collected the part from a local store, and completed the work. What trade organizations need to realize is that in an age of easy access to information on how to do their jobs, their only differentiators are their integrity and their customer service. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing possess neither. My recommendation is to avoid this company at all costs.

Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning, & Electrical Plumber
The thermostat that was sold to me with the HVAC was faulty, he replaced with a new unit that was also bad. Offered to order one direct from the factory, I declined. Asked what the price was for a Ehcobee 3 lite was and they stated discounted at $419.00, which I can bUy my myself elsewhere for $150.00, so I declined. I believe Abacus should have refunded a portion of my cost or given me the ehcobee at cost. This was not the technician’s fault! I have since ordered a ehcobee 4 for $219.00 from a separate company. They should at least install this unit for free. The original installer’s never tested the thermostat for both heat and air conditioning (first mistake) they would have caught the bad thermostat during the install, they tore apart my attack entrance which was never fixed by Abacus, I had to buy and repair myself, even after I notified their main office of this issue. I am not happy with the overall support, even after I recommended them to a neighbor. They installed his HVAC with a better unit (same size) a Ehcobee 4 and insulated his attic for the same price they charged me for just the HVAC?
