I thought I had a clogged drain. I researched plumbing companies and found Peterman Brother's and a webpage coupon: $83.00 for same-day service to unclog a clogged drain, no service call fees and no dispatch fees, 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. I called and they couldn't do same day so they scheduled for next day. The tech came out, unscrewed the cap from my main drain, looked inside, screwed the cap back on and told me it wasn't clogged. The cap to the main drain happened to be next to a leaky plumbing joint. I was aware of the leak and I planned to fix it my self. The technician told me what Peterman would charge to make the repair and I laughed at the absurdly high price and I told him that's why I had planned to fix it myself. Then I receive the bill. Peterman charged me $85.00 for diagnostic fee. I called and told them I never asked for a diagnosis of a leak I was already aware of and planning to fix myself. I only wanted my drain unclogged. They said it didn't matter. The tech did a diagnosis and presented me with an option to correct the problem. Therefore I must pay the diagnostic fee. I argued I never asked for this service but it didn't matter. I decided this was not a battle I wanted to fight so I forgot about it and moved on. Then, yesterday I received a call from their Customer experience representative. I began to tell him about my experience and my feelings about being charged for a service I did not request and he began to argue with me and he would not allow me to speak. The conversation evolved into a shouting match until he finally said It doesn't matter, you're not getting your $85.00 back. I then said I never asked you to give it back to which he replied then what are we doing here? and I replied I don't know...you called me, I didn't call you. You asked about my experience then when I tell you, you argue with me .. He replied Oh, sorry. We hung up. As a result of this phone call I decided not to let this go. I contacted my credit card company and I contested the charges. Peterman Brothers charged me for a service I never requested. They did no work for me since the drain I called them to fix was not clogged. They advertise no service call fee and no dispatch fee. Therefore: no work performed + no service call fee + no dispatch fee = no charge. They simply cannot decide to charge a fee for something that was never requested. Do not use this company! You will be sorry if you do. The fact that their customer experience representative reached out to me to ask about my experience then yelled and argued with me, then told me I would not get my money back when I never even asked him for a refund, should be all you need to know about the caliber of employee they hire and the type of training they receive.Follow up: During the credit card dispute process, Peterman Brother's provided fabricated documentation to the CC company with a second page attached which included a signature. They said I signed the document. The CC company sent the document to me for review and response. I read the document, examined the signature (scribble) and replied back to the CC company stating I was never presented with the document nor signed the document and I accused the company of illegally creating false documentation and fraud. The Credit card company reviewed my response, completed their investigation and refunded my money. They said unfortunately there was nothing they could do regarding Peterman Brother's illegal activity and referred me to the Consumer Protection Agency and the Better Business Bureau. The case is closed with the CC company and I received my refund. However, I intend to notify both agencies of Peterman Brother's fraudulent practices and pursue legal action if possible. No company should be allowed to create fraudulent documentation and expect to get away with it!
