Remodeling is such a daunting concept...until you meet the guys at Phoenix Home Remodeling. From the initial conversation, we were made to feel that our vision didn’t seem too far fetched after all! We gave them a long wish list and they took the time to provide the quote for each item allowing us to proritize. The quote left no room for big surprises. They were always accessible which is very helpful to anxious homeowners! What was even more impressive was how neat they left the work area each day. My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

The response time between my request for quote and the actual job bid was within 7 days. They started work earlier than they originally planned and the job was finished within the contract timeframe. The workers were respectful, conscientious, and experienced. They were thorough and left everything very neat and clean.

Needed new shower enclosure in master bath. Audra was great to work with to get estimate and schedule work, Kevin and his team were great, professional, on-time, polite. Yes, it took several months from start to finish but I'm very happy with the results.

From the first meeting with James, I was impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. He took pictures of the kitchen and explained what I was looking at and allowed me to ask questions. The second meeting was to discuss installation details. He was also very attentive and told me he would be on site and to direct any questions to him during the installation. I received personal attention every step of the way and the kitchen looks fabulous!!

Working with Maxum Design and Construction has been great. When I was worried my rain shower was not high enough Taylor and John came out within a half hour to discuss. Great response! Designs are awesome! ADA compatible; I have MS. I love the quality execution by construction crew led by James.

We hired Ben from Champion to remodel our newly purchased home. He did a superb job, and was a pleasure to work with. His crew was professional, clean, punctual, and completed the project on schedule.
