About 3 weeks ago my heat pump went out, and I called A-1 American they never showed and needless to say it was freezing/snowing at the time. I guess they were too busy making commercials and useless magnets for the yellow pages After 48 hours of hearing nothing from A-1 I did an internet search and found Tidewater Plumbing & Heating, the owner Mr. Martin had his son in law Morris over in less than an hour. My heat pump was sparking and the compressor was totally shot. Morris was able to stop the heat pump from sparking and causing a potential fire. I had a gas line, but it was never connected to the home. Mr. Martin advised me on the price, and how long the job would take. When it came time for them to do the job, it was exactly as described. He came with his son-in-law, and son. They were quick and efficient, they did not leave a mess on my property. This is a family business with honest people, Mr. Martin did not add any hidden fees or surprises as many companies do. The unit was of quality and started right up. If i'm going to spend my hard earned money I want quality work/product. I definitely recommend Tidewater Plumbing & Heating they are honest people who do quality work.

This family owned company was our first HVAC call since moving to VA from a different state. From talking to Mrs. Carolyn on the phone to then having her husband and grandson come out the same day- it was the best experience for a new homeowner. We had Philip McIntosh as our maintenance man. He was very professional, very pleasant and efficient. He clearly explained the problem, the service require, even potential problems that may come up in the future. It was a minor issue, but he was in and out within the hour. Would rate 14/10. Edit: Repeat customer! Replacement of wax ring and resetting of a second toilet to fix a sneaky leak was quickly and expertly done. Our tech, Brian, was professional and courteous, returning in deteriorating weather later the same day to repair a leak that was inconsistent in its presentation, and Tricia, in the office was so understanding and delightful. Service was very reasonably priced too. Wouldn't call anywhere for plumbing issues.

Analysis of, and repair/replacement of leaking toilet was accomplished in less than 48 hours. Our service tech, Ricky Rivers, was excellent! Professional, courteous, honest, efficient, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Will definitely request him for any future plumbing problems. TL;DR - Great service and price for quick water heater replacement, but not so great for plumbing service later.Needed a new water heater installed on short notice, they were able to deliver within a day at a reasonable price.Edit: Dropping two stars to balance a great experience with a bad one. A week after the water heater, we started having some drains back up. We've had similar happen before, and in the past, plumbers have had to go to the roof to clear the main line. The techs came out, and that day they weren't able to replicate the issue, so never went to the roof and cleared it out, thinking it had cleared itself. Charged me for an hour, and said if they started to back up again, call and they'd take care of it no extra charge.Fast forward three weeks, and the drains are backing up again. Called and explained things, and was quoted even more than before! No thanks! Went with someone else, and they wound up needing to go to the roof to clear the line, what we said needed done in the first place! Disappointed that they didn't hold to their promise if the issue recurred after spending a decent amount of money for the first service where nothing was done but running our water.

Great company! From beginning to end they were courteous, professional, and technically intelligent. My husband and I have encountered quite a few companies that were more interested in doing a job and getting paid versus this company that did a great job and went above and beyond.

Have used many times in the past, before covid. Have called for service three times now, each time no one has called me back. Each time was an plumbing emergency. I guess if I had purchased the over priced service contract, someone would have responded.

We reached out to Colonial Home Services for a few projects at our house, such as installing new electric outlets and replacing a ceiling light with a fan. They came out to give us an estimate and afterwards set up another appointment to get the job done. They showed up on time, the price was exactly what they said it would be and they were all really professional and knowledgeable, plus friendly and tidy. They addressed all our concerns and even helped us figure out some issues with the light switches that didn't match the outlets. We'd definitely hire Colonial Home Services again. Super fast and affordable electrical service.

I have used this fine firm on three separate occasions. The staff is quick to respond and solves problems rapidly and inexpensively.
