My initial contact with Guy Smith was for a problem with one of my Trane systems. They researched the warranty and found it was still under warranty. We have been with them ever since. Had my A/C delivery system replaced by them, had some minor problems and they fixed each one at no additional charge. Now have them perform annual maintenance on both units each spring to keep them in tip-top shape. A+ with us.

We had Philip McIntosh as our maintenance man. He was very professional, very pleasant and efficient. He clearly explained the problem, the service require, even potential problems that may come up in the future. It was a minor issue, but he was in and out within the hour. Would rate 14/10. If I need service again, I'll be sure to use this company, and Philip again if I can

Nice and friendly but geez, very very expensive. $350 for first pound coolant and $180 for every pound after that. $360 an hour to find leak. My neighbor charged me $175 for 6 pounds which he did state was cost. Seems like Smith could have better prices. Think they like to push new stuff which I understand but times are difficult. Previous visits were going to charge me $650 for a $20 capacitor and starter. Went on Internet and bought 2 for $35. Then they said they would charge me $250 to change it which is at max a 15 minute job. Need a new system, good as any but will shop around next time for future visit consideration.

We finally scheduled to have it done, and Joey came back for that job as well. He is friendly and professional and takes the time to explain everything. If I could give this place a 0 star i would, guy that came out was so unprofessional, told me i should just trash my unit and pay 9grand and replace it, the guy lied to me and quoted me 2 outrageous estimates and then said idk why im even here talking to you ect , never will call this company or refer them to anyone, was a complete waste of time and the technician if you want to call him that he couldnt even bend down to look at my compressor was a jerk, and unprofessional! Definately call someone else like Atomic plumbing if you actually want PROFESIONAL WORK!

Brian was the Technician for the Spring maintenance on my air conditioning. He called when he was on his way. When he arrived, he introduced himself and explained what he was going to do. He was very pleasant and explained everything in detail. When he came into the house, he made sure he had his booties on. Overall, Brian seemed to know his job very well.

Employed the plumbing techs and was completely satisfied. Mr. Chris and Conner were respectful to our needs and sought to understand our concerns. They ask questions and listen for clarification. Once they understood, they gave us an estimate which was well withing our budget and then adjusted the estimated based upon a change that took place during the repairs. Excellent service!!!  I used Angie's List and after having different companies to come out to show their products and offer estimates for installation of an entire HVAC system, we decided upon Guy Smith Heating and Cooling of Virginia Bch. They offered a highly qualified system and a more appealing payment plan. From Blake, the sales representative, to the actual technicians/installers, they were all prompt, courteous and professional. I personally want tothank the technicians for their HARD WORK ethics and professional installation of our new central air and heating system. Hands down the BEST prices in town. I met with Sears, Russell's and someone else but Guy Smith offered the best price for AC/Furnace combo. Their customer service was fantastic from start to finish! I can't recommend them enough.

Have a ground water system so sometimes have unique problems. Guy Smith diagnosed it to a failed 35 year old check valve that would not keep the pump primed. The tech did the replacement, saving me time and money.

My husband and I called GuySmith yesterday after finding a puddle in our garage near the water heater. Marvin and his team came first thing the next morning, diagnosed the issue, and repaired all in the same day! After telling the technician multiple times if he turned on the breaker for the ac it would blow the fuses into our house. He didn’t listen and turned it on, of course it blew. They cost $80 to replace, and are incredibly difficult to find (they don’t make the panel anymore so no one carries the fuses). Without the fuses we do not have power at all.After the tech blew the fuses he said we didn’t have a problem with the ac unit and needed to call an electrician.Called an electrician and it turns out it’s the compressor on our ac unit.So we spent money to have a technician come out and break our things. Then shrug and leave.We’ll be using a different company to replace the compressor.I do not recommend this company at all. Find someone else and save your money.

Had a problem with my sink. Trevor found out that it was just backed up a little and didn't actually require servicing. Charged me the baseline fee (which was explained to me on the phone when I made the appointment and is fair), but didn't try to sell me on fixing something that didn't need fixing. Stay far, far away. These people have taken advantage of and robbed my disabled mom for some time.They have been servicing her unit, and the entire time it has been dysfunctional, requiring her to use a window unit upstairs to have one safe room for reprieve. They come out, charge her for some repair, and it’s broken days later. For the past year or so, they’ve done “maintenance” house calls for her unit. They came out in March, said it was in good working order, and left. Last week, it was 86° in her home, so she called this company who she has placed her trust in. They knew she had a leak, and because she is unable to process information well, they charged her $635 for unknown quantities of refrigerant, knowing it would leak out, and went on their way. 3 days later, her house was again 85°. So she called them and had them come out again, and they told her she needs a new motor and went on their way again.Knowing that her HVAC is a closed system and there is no way $635 worth of refrigerant without fixing the leak was worth it, I decided to consult with friends to find a TRUSTWORTHY company so that my mom, who does not have the money or health to deal with grifters, could finally get an appropriate consult from an actual expert. Kellam Mechanical visited with her today and did diagnostics on her unit—they advised that there is definitively a leak, and that she has a compressor issue, and that it would be a disservice to her just to refill refrigerant and waste her money.I am absolutely disgusted that this unethical company would take advantage of a woman on disability and take her for $635 in one pop knowing good and well it would do her no good. They left my mom broke, hot, and in unsafe conditions after charging her and saying her unit is in perfect working order thanks to their help.Do not use these people.

My heat went out this weekend. I, being the techie that I am, spent the weekend trying to troubleshoot it myself. I even replaced my thermostat thinking that was it (maybe I wanted that new wifi thermostat anyway). Regardless, that wasn't the fix so I called Guy Smith and they sent someone right away. Kevin showed up on time and was very professional. He gave me my prices up front so I knew what to expect as he performed his troubleshooting. He didn't even mind as I followed him around and asked a million questions and he answered ALL OF THEM. Within an hour my heat is back on and the family and all the pets don't have to huddle around a space heater anymore. THANKS KEVIN!

In all fairness, they were able to comeby and conduct a diagnosis on my HVAC unit within the day I called them. Could have been a 5star if they hadn’t given me a VERY HIGH quote for the fan condenser replacement and labor. Ended up fixing it myself for 1/3 of the price.

The quality seemed sufficient for an HVAC contract, although there were no repairs necessary. They were extremely late for the spring and fall inspections, I am talking about months. The customer service was very poor, but the price is much cheaper than other HVAC companies.

Guy Smith Heating and Cooling for the WIN! During the massive heat wave of July 2022 our AC went out without warning Friday evening. I called literally 18 companies (went in order of online results) and was told the same thing over and over we're going to charge you an arm and a leg to come out, won't promise to fix it, and we can't come out until 10 days from now.Guy Smith answered the phone on a Saturday morning, was professional and courteous, and dispatched a technician not only the SAME DAY; but, showed up in only FIFTY SEVEN MINUTES! The problem was identified within 10 minutes of arrival, and only 10 more minutes later was the AC back operating with a new Capacitor.In fact, they were so courteous, knowledgeable, and timely I signed up for their recurring maintenance plan on site. This rating is specifically for Brian Novak at Guy Smith at Heating and Air Conditioning. He was amazing! We just had our AC and furnace replaced and started having difficulties with it. Brian came out, on a Saturday, and fixed everything! Not only did he fix the problem, he also walked us through the new set up and showed us specifically what to change in the winter/summer time for the best quality and efficiency of air flow. He also gave us information on an Air Scrubber and will be installing it for us in the following days. He was professional and took the time to explain everything to us and answer all of our questions.

My a/c system needed to be replaced. I called an air conditioner company (I won’t name) & knew I was not going to use them based on the unprofessional tech & trainee that came out. The invoice they had sent the next day via email was 4 lines long asking for a ridiculous amount of money. I was worried because the weather is getting warmer. I was referred to Guy Smith by my daughter’s handyman.I called Guy Smith & they sent Phil out to me the same day within 2 hrs. Phil was professional & thorough. He made sure I had a clear understanding of the entire process & he followed up immediately in writing (with photos) via email of everything discussed. Realized this afternoon that my AC wasn't just not able to keep up with the heat outside, but had stopped kicking on at all. Then realized home warranty expired a little more than 12 hours ago. Called around and was told they could have someone to my house within an hour. David showed up, I explained what happened- immediately located the bad capacitor and replaced. My AC was back up and running less than 2 hours from when I noticed the problem- nearly a miracle in this heat wave. Very pleased and very grateful for the help!

I am all about being honest and owning up to my mistakes. However, upon writing a check. There were some issues. I corrected this error by paying the balance plus any other charges. I really felt horrible. Upon paying via web. He never stopped my check resulting in $330.00 surcharges. He was called several times to stop payment. I ended up calling my bank and stopping. He is now avoiding my calls and refuses to correct his error. Very unprofessional and bad for business. Guess I learned a valuable lesson.

So I was recommended by a co-worker to give this company a try. At first they were very knowledgeable, decently priced, they came out very quickly to see what was wrong with my HVAC and was even kind enough to provide us two window AC units until the new HVAC system came in for install.That's all the good. Very conveniently though after they got our service and money everything starting to go downhill.1. They failed to notice the specs of the new the system that had to be installed in the attic so they had to lay the machine down on it's side and now it's slightly hanging over our attic entrance.2. They failed to install the venting properly which rendered everything useless. They did come out the next day to fix it though once we informed them that there was something wrong.3. The new system in the attic starting leaking causing damage to the attic door. A tech came out same day and stated whoever installed it put the system to high.4. Scheduled us on a Federal holiday to have someone take a look to make sure the entire HVAC system was installed properly. (Hasn't even been done yet so who knows what else could be found). Didn't think to question it because they were the ones that set it up and we were told several times from their technicians that they work 24/7. We even received email and text messages making sure that we were aware of our scheduled appt the day prior. I confirmed it and even received a confirmed notice back.Within 3 weeks of install this company has been a huge disappointment. One thing after another on a brand new system. Some may think these were minor things but these things call in to question their technical expertise, force us to take days off of work and is just a huge inconvenience. They were awesome prior to getting our service and were took the bait, hook line and sinker. I would look elsewhere for your service if you want your install to be done properly and not have these inconveniences.

I used Guy Smith to install a new HVAC system in a rental property in 2016. When my tenant notified me that the system was not cooling properly this summer, I contacted Guy Smith for service. It took a number of visits to properly diagnose and complete the repair but each time I called the office, I spoke to Gayle and she was friendly, understanding, patient and committed to getting my issue resolved. She never made me feel like I was bothersome in my repeat calls which was most appreciated! Technicians were sent out promptly each time and Guy Smith went above and beyond to complete my service repair needs at no additional cost due to the repair being found to be covered under warranty. I would highly recommend Guy Smith for exceptional customer service and quality!

I have had a maintenance agreement with Guy Smith since around 1991 after I purchased my home and the heating went out due to a broken weld on a heat exchanger. In that time they have replaced or repaired every major part of the system as each has worn out due to age or use as well as completed semi-annual cleanings and inspections. Their prices are fair, they remind you when service is due, they arrive at the scheduled times, do not use high pressure sales, explain what and why a repair is needed, and are courteous and quick. I've never had to suffer through a hot summer or cold winter.

Had a nightmare experience. If you're looking for the review for why not to choose Guy Smith, this is the one.- Charged over $100 for an estimate.- Was assured by in-person tech that they'd be able to word invoice to help me with my home warranty company. As soon as the tech was gone, lady in office hard refused any further requests. And, in a somewhat disrespectful manner, she first sent me old invoices (as if I wouldn't notice?) when I requested they put the reason for why I need a total replacement, rather than a temporary repair, on the invoice.He could have just told me they wouldn't help at all in this regard, rather than mislead me to think they would. And really, it still bothers me that they weren't comfortable putting in writing why I needed a total replacement, because you better believe the tech had no problem telling me verbally in-person.- Poor communication. Even with all of this said, my ac unit eventually died, so I accepted their sent proposal and called their office to get the work started. I was told I'd get a call back from the tech... and guess what?No response. This is a $8,000 sale. And, they don't call back within one business day. Just mind-blowing to me.So, 2 business days later I sent an email saying I'd like to cancel business with them. And, 2 more days after that, I get an automatic email saying they are going to cancel my proposal, which includes this line:We take very seriously the loss of a customerCould've fooled me.Honestly, I could write several more reasons, but I digress. I think this is more than enough. I went to MSCO and had my entire order processed in a day with no charge or hassle with far more detail given on the actual products I'd be ordering (they have brochures), no crazy architectural requirements and at over $1,000 less in cost.In retrospect, I'm honestly really happy they chose to ignore me, for the sake of all the money I'm saving alone. But, the transparency on what I'm actually buying (that I didn't know I was lacking) is great too.If you see this Guy Smith, you guys have a lot of work to do from a business perspective.

Joshua came out on a warm Saturday evening around 8:30 because for several days our AC has not cooled effectively. it would not get below 74 and was humid in our house. We have a contract with Guy Smith to do annual maintenance on our system which they installed 4-1/2 years ago. Their service and people are always very professional, prompt, and conscientious. Joshua checked the system in the attic for leaks and checked our condenser outside. He said it was a little more than a pound low on coolant so he got it topped off. He stayed until we were satisfied even though he had already had a long day. The house feels cooler now and we are glad to be with Guy Smith and their team!

Phil was the technician assigned to assess our mom's a/c unit and he was nothing but professional and courteous the entire length of time. He was open to questions and as he worked he shared what he found, offered suggestions but never once attempted to sell us on any products or upgrades. He was very patient as another out-of-town family member much more familiar with mom's unit and understands all that 'HVAC techy' language engaged him in conversation about the symptoms of the unit. We asked Phil for his true opinion on next steps and based on what we saw and the information and options he provided us we decided to use Guy Smith to replace the unit versus the 'other' company.

Guy Smith Heating & Cooling came to the rescue on a weekend. Our AC went down in the middle of July, on a weekend of course. They got it up and running on a Sunday and that is no small feat. Awesome job. Big call out to the great technician, Phillip McIntosh. He was very professional and got the job done quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend Guy Smith Heating and Cooling for all of your Heating and Cooling needs.

Great company. Always prompt and honest. They installed out heat pump fee years back and that's still going strong without any issues. Not only that but when they gave us an initial estimate they underbid themselves since our house needed more work done that it was obvious at first. They still honoured the estimate.When our heat stopped working, I called them and the technicians arrived ahead of schedule. Then they quickly discovered that the issue wasn't with the heat pump but with the electrical box. They referred me to an electrician and didn't charge me for coming out!

I have been using Guy Smith for over 20 years now. They have replaced my heating & cooling about 8 years ago with a 3 ton variable speed A/C unit. The unit cost a little more money but it was worth the price. The new A/C paid for the extra money by a noticeable lowering of the electric bill. Never had any problems with Customer Service or any of their Employees. Excellent Service.

I have been using Guy Smith for some time and always had a good relationship and felt their work was excellent and had ado it right mentality.I have just had another experience to bolster that feeling.After some extensive work on my HVAC system I had a complaint about a few details that I felt needed corrective action. I called and told the operator my story ans she quickly put me in touch with the manage that could resolve my concerns. After a brief discussion, the manager set up an appointment for the next day.The crew arrived, on time, and promptly corrected all the items on my list. Plus a couple more to boot.I want to say again that Guy Smith Heating and Cooling are the ones I call for HVAC in my home. The 5 stars are well deserved.

I was out of town when the AC started acting up. I used GuySmith previously last year for a similar issue. The issue returned. I was told a diagnostic would be $89. Come to find out that only identifies the symptoms and not the root causes. After asking, they performed a $400+ leak check, lasting about 10 minutes, using a tool that can be had for $250. A leak was found and replacement of the part was quoted to be several thousand dollars to replace. A second option of using a leak stop epoxy was applied for $600+. I was unable to contact my wife during the appointment so my wife, not knowing any better, approved a $1400 bill for something I could have done myself for a fraction of the cost. The leak stop can be had for $60 on amazon. I understand there will be a markup, but in this case, a 1000% markup seems ridiculous for something that was completed in half an hour. Now I get to look forward a 50/50 chance that I’ll be making the same exact call next year because they told my wife that the leak stop only works half the time. I WILL NOT BE USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

Guy Smith has done a couple hvac installs and repairs for us over the past couple of decades between my property and my parents house. Technicians are always helpful & professional, especially Phillip who's helped us several times. A friend once checked my HVAC and he said it was the cleanest install he's ever seen. We did have a warranty issue once and Guy Smith took care of it without a problem.

We used them twice and felt ripped off both times. My sister and several friends also would never used them again. I'm amazed there are positive reviews, I dot know a single person that has used them that didn't regret it. Ask around with people you know before you use Guy Smith. Years ago they were good but recently they have become the ones to avoid. I've had pretty good luck with One-Hour Heating and Smith and Keene. Just ask around before you call them.

Couldn't be happier with their service. Three professionals showed up on time, and in one shift ripped out and replaced both a 1/5-ton compressor unit outside and a combination furnace unit / air handler in the garage. Phillip made a service call based on my report of a problem. After inspecting the system it was clear a power grid surge had destroyed the compressor and fried the electronics. He expertly and in understandable terms described the situation and the options. I was able to make the best choice for me and knew the cost and timeline involved before he left. He didn’t sugarcoat the situation or try to push one option over the other.

I only rate when a business goes above and beyond, good or bad.Had them come out last month for aeroseal, technician said i qualified for it but recommended the seal test first, scheduler called me that day and i booked the earliest one for 15Jan.Its the 20th and they havent attempted to call. Not recommended, two other companies here that offer this service. 👍

David from Guy Smith was awesome. First off not a lot of people work on gas boilers now a days so thrilled to find someone that did, nonetheless on the weekend. He took his time assessing our entire system but was quick to provide a solution. We had heat in 15-20 minutes on a very cold day. The two installers Brent and Joe did an excellent job installing the outside ac unit and the one in the attic. They were professional and showed a great deal of concern with keeping me updated on the installation process. They put down drop cloths when they arrived to keep the carpet and floor cleaned.. They were informative and answered all my questions during the process and had a great attitude considering both of them were working under extreme summer temperatures. I am glad I decided to use Guy Smith after my last few years of dealing with another well known company that only cared if you were one of their “club members.” I will never go back! Thank you again Brent and Joe . Also, I want to give a shout out to Kevin the service tech that made me realize a new ac unit was needed. I saw one of your advertisements un the coupon value pack and I called since it says you do free no obligation estimates. However the women I spoke to said thats only if your getting a new system which is not what your ad says. Also I need someone during the week and she said to call back during the week to schedule the appointment. Not the best customer service it should have been scheduled over the phone for the week ahead.

A/C decided to stop working on a Friday Night, outside temperature was 98 degrees, by Sat morning temp in my house was at least 88 degrees! I called Guy Smith in the afternoon & was told by Brian that he had three calls ahead of me & that he would call me when he finished those jobs. By then it was about 9:00 pm, he sure called & by 10:30 pm my A/C was running again!! Thank You Guy Smith & Brian for such good service, you people are GREAT!!!!

same day reaponse for HVAC repair. came out to a little over 400 bucks to replace a 20 dollar capacitor that had clearly blown. techs responded quickly and replaced faulty part.you guys have to get ur techs better software and hardware to support your needs. tech was repeatedly apologizing for tablets slow processing power and for the touchscreen not responding to touch inputs appropriately....payment took longer than the repair!

We used Guy Smith years ago to replace our heat pump. Unfortunately we are close to needing replacement again. Had an appointment for 6 pm for a sales person to come out. The office called at 540 pm, said that the office closed at 6 but the technician will call an soon as they are on the way. The technician is also the salesman?? Finally received a phone call at 802 pm expecting to still come. I don't think so.

Even after multiple visits, Guy Smith has been unable to get my Trane system to cool the upstairs and run on a schedule. When they changed the thermostat in May, instead of using the Trane clips to remove the thermostat from the wall, they just ripped it out by the drywall anchors. I didn't discover this until after they had left, or I would have addressed with the technician who did it. I can provide a picture as well, and of course, I was charged for the appointment. The technicians are always on time, and professional.

I think that Guy Smith's service has improved since the change in ownership. I like that email is used more and that the service person is contacting me before leaving his previous stop. I've had some very negative experiences with Guy Smith, which to their credit, they made right, but I like that now I don't have to spend time complaining. Guy Smith Heat&Cooling was very responsive to our request for servicing. We had an A/C unit that was frozen in the dog days of summer. They were available the same day and even worked around our schedules. Brian Novak did an inspection, identified the issue and had it up in running within the hour. He also gave advice and guidance on both units and installed a safety switch on the third floor unit to avoid water damage. We appreciate the help and look forward to dealing with them for routine maintenance in the future.

Started gathering quotes; another hvac company recommended I change out my current unit. I called Guy Smith to get a quote for a new system; Blake came out the next day. He'd asked about the current functionality of the system, I told him that the heat pump was not functioning. He took measurements then looked at the heat pump and mentioned that it might still be under warranty, then proceeded to the attic to evaluate current air handler and wrap-up measurements. Subsequently, Blake provided me with an estimate on a reasonably priced replacement unit and also offered to lookup the warranty on my current system even though Guy Smith does not sell the unit in which I have. Within minutes, he confirmed that the system was still under warranty and that they could have a technician out between 4 and 6 that same day, so I confirmed. Kevin the technician showed up by 2:30 to conduct system leak assessment. He'd asked what the system was doing, told him the heat pump was not functioning, it keeps turning on and off in spurts. Kevin hooked-up the gauges to the outdoor unit, asked when the last time I received freon and how much I received; I told him 2 or 3 lbs; he said your unit does not have a leak it was over charged with freon, that's the reason why the unit turned on and off. He went into the attic to look at the air handler then proceed to conduct temperature checks to confirm no degradation existed. Bottom line up front - integrity, professionalism, and technical wherewithal exhibited by both Blake and Kevin won a repeat customer; really appreciate your honesty and customer service, saved me time and money.

Called this company, we had a unit with a bad switch Brian came out and half way did his diagnostic review, unit worked for a day, then had to contact another company to fix our unit and give us proper advice on how to maintain our unit and not mothball it. They definitely were more interested in selling units than trying to fix them.... we felt fully taken advantage of.... stay away.

Initially thought they would be a good fit to continue to provide service on the system in the house we bought. During the latest seasonal check they diagnosed that the system had a leak which meant the ENTIRE system needed to be replaced. Rationale, because of its age. Would not diagnose the leak or provide additional information. In the fall the company recommended that the system be sealed for $3000. Note that sealing was for a system near the end of its life according to them. After seeking other opinions from other companies we were provided the following; A.) options with pros and cons, B.) a discussion of the leak including causes with additional options; and C.) knowledge to make the best decision.All that said I can't recommend this company because the customer service just isn't there and the apparent motivation is just sales but no service.

**PLEASE GET A SECOND LOOK** not only do they charge almost $90 to look at the problem ..he mentioned the cooling system had to be replaced completely, and the replacement/fix was around 10k-15k.... this didn't sit right with me.... I had another company take a look, and they fixed the coolant for less than $300 !! They also mentioned that the replacement does not cost 10-15k‼️‼️ PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH AND GET A SECOND LOOK ‼️‼️‼️ SUCH A SCAM

The initial tech that came to troubleshoot our HVAC was great, work was fine, the new AC unit works great but I was not a fan of the Lead Tech that came to do the install. The Lead Tech needs customer service training. I work in the service industry and I understand how it should work. We had an issue with insulation pieces coming out of all of the vents in our house when they turned on the new unit and, when addressing the Lead Tech with the issue, the response was Thats never happened before....no empathy, no offer for a solution, just excuses and denial that it was from them (It must have already been in the ducts - we JUST had our ducts cleaned 2-3 months ago, it was definitely not already in there). I had to tell him how the situation could be rectified (I asked for a discount that was equivalent to getting our house professionally cleaned/wiped down) - a customer should never have to tell a company how to fix an issue unless they are asked What can I do to make this right? which was definitely not asked to us. My husband is not the easiest person to deal with but this Lead Tech did not handle his responses well and was unprofessional. He also told us we had to untape our vents because it would void the warranty on the units - we did as requested but I called the manufacturer (the Rep had never heard of that being an issue but couldn't officially tell me it wouldn't void it since it was up to the dealer to decide that). If you are able to close vents, why would sealing them off be any different? I'm pretty sure the guy was just being a jerk because he didn't like dealing with us at that point. I also had to point out pieces of insulation they left in our yard and they did not clean up our attic as they said they had. I will not be calling this company back just based on the terrible customer service by the Lead Tech.

This company sold me a $1000 UV light (installed in my hvac duct work)after telling me that it would resolve the mold found growing in my duct work. What they failed to tell me was that my ductwork was actually improperly installed and no amount of UV light could actually resolve the issue.In reality, it turns out that another professional recently discovered that my ductwork is made out of porous fiberglass that breaks apart as air passes through it constantly sending mold and debris throughout my home. A UV light installation suggestion to remedy this issue is ineffective and bogus. Rather than being honest and straightforward with me about what I truly needed, they insisted the only feasible solution was to install a UV light for $1000.I am now out $1000 and having to have my duct work properly replaced with stainless steel from another company. This is costing me $4000 in addition to the $1000 they already took from me unethically. When I tried to address this with them in person, they were defensive and attacked me saying that I was doing the wrong thing by complaining about a service and refused to let me speak to a manager. They also tried to tell me that it was my fault because I waited so long before having another professional discover the improper materials used in my ductwork, when in reality they never should have sold me this item to begin with or told me that it was a necessary component of my HVAC system. They have also refused to respond to any of my emails or voicemails regarding this issue.I am now taking them to small claims court and hopes to rightfully reclaim my loss. Additionally, I have had significant health problems with my breathing and airway including illnesses such as an pneumonia and bronchitis for the past few years which my doctors attribute to the mold in the ductwork.Buyer beware. Dishonest. Dismissive. Disrespectful. Unprofessional. Unresponsive. Scammers. Terrible business.

We had an after hours crisis, and I was happily surprised to find someone (Lacey) answering the phone 2 hours after I expected the office to be closed. She was VERY patient in listening to the out-of-the-ordinary details of our situation, and went way beyond our expectations in connecting us with the tech we specifically needed. That technician, John Schaffer, called us from his home and took the time from his evening to help us solve our problem. The most amazing part is that it turned out our issue is well outside of the normal scope of work for Guy Smith, yet they were all still enthusiastically willing to help us anyway.This is the standard for customer service that we wish we had from everyone we work with. When it is summer time and the AC stops working in your house; it is no fun. Called Guy Smith Heating and Cooling and they had someone out there the same day. Had the unit up and running in no time. Since Februrary 2018, our HVAC unit has not operated properly, the first problem: blower fan needed replacing, then a condensation leak on the outside of the unit concerning the exhaust piping, then the same piping began leaking behind the front panel, the unit's variable speed feature would not operate, then the induction motor needed replacing. Norman serviced the unit, then Brian became involved, and finally Larry performed a detailed analysis resulting in a fully operational unit. These techs were polite, arrived on time and worked diligently to find the source of the unit's problems. Guy Smith also honored their stated and written warranty. For the past 2 days Brian and Larry spent most of those days examining the unit until they were satisfied the unit operated properly. In final, I extend my thanks to Norman, Brian and Larry for spending the time and expertise to bring my HVAC unit back on line and extending the unit's life-time.Peter Axson

I had a wonderful experience with Guy Smith. I had trouble all summer with my AC when it got very hot so I wasn't surprised when our heater stopped working right when it got cold last week. I called Guy Smith instead of going through my home warranty like I did all summer. Best decision ever. They sent out on of their tech's, Brian, who came the same day I called. He found a couple minor things and the heat started coming out hotter again but my air flow was still terrible like it has been since the summer. I was told by several other AC/Heat companies that my duct work just had issues and the intake was too small. Instead of leaving after it started coming out hotter Brian went back into my attic to review the duct work and see why I didn't have a stronger airflow. He found out that there was a media filter installed up there that was basically hidden away. Once he removed it and told the unit not to use it our air flow was fantastic! It has kept up without an issue ever since and air flow is finally there. I will be using Guy Smith and asking for Brian from now on!

Guy Smith Heating & Cooling is one of the most professional companies I’ve encountered recently. My AC went out last night and was able to schedule a tech this afternoon. Josh was scheduled to come between 3-5 but called at 1:00 to see if it was okay to come over early to beat the rain. He explained everything he was checking and showed me where the problem was once it was discovered. He fixed it quickly and cleaned up all of his gear once he was done. I see a lot of good comments for this company, so I decided to call them, not knowing what to expect, I went for it, My AC liquid line is frozen before the appointment, I decided to check and replace the filter and turn off the AC and turn the fan on to defrost, but while we sleep I decided to leave it on it was just to hot it was 85 degrees inside and we couldnt sleep, finally AC&R Tech came early which is good, to see whats goin on, HE SAID HE CANT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE all the lines are frozen and he has to come back tommorrow. Now for them to DRIVE to my place cost $89.00 JUST TO GET HERE, so Im not paying for diagnostic Im paying for their gas, laughable, He even said I shoulve left my AC off, I got that, but him coming to my house didn't do a single thing, and I have to pay $89 then another $89 for him to come again the next day?? This company thinks Im rich or what? Ive been having this problem for so long I just need a little consideration, atleast come back next day and actually diagnose the system and ill pay for the diagnose . . . Very respectfully -Warren

I have used this company many times for my aging boiler. The office staff does everything in their power to accommodate your schedule. The technicians go above and beyond. Would not in good conscience recommend this company. Although the installers did their job, the salesperson was pushy and lied to me. Said my compressor had not been properly registered by the previous installer. I looked in my files and found written confirmation that it HAD! He also told me that if I tried to take time to think about it and get other estimates, I would have to pay him the $400 for the plug he installed in my compressor that DIDN'T WORK! In addition, in researching online, I found I had overpaid for the unit! I hate being taken advantage of. They love to find females living alone so they can do that! I hope other prospective customers read this before using them.

Guy Smith has be taking care of my HVAC needs at a vacation Condo for more than a decade. They are always courteous and there when you need them. I recently had to replace my entire heat pump system due to salt water aging. They did a great job, which was tricky because the main unit was on the condo roof, several floors up. They promised a one day turn around and the tech stayed until after dinner to make sure that happened.

To call an Hvac company and to come out the same day and diagnos and fix the issue, is awesome! There prices are by far better then any other companies I called to get my nieces ac repaired!

I have called in a few different people to look at my system and I always get the same response that it’s fine and they don’t see any issues (most companies don’t care about the client or the issues at hand) my system was louder then any other in the neighborhood but they kept telling me it’s fine and some systems are just louder then others - and when I reached out to GuySmith they set me up with a routine maintenance schedule which has helped a lot! Im leaving this review for Phillip McIntosh because he was the first person who could give me any solid information on my system and he was very knowledgeable and professional. My system is now clean and running quietly! Would recommend!

An emergency call, the AC went out at my rental property, they were able to schedule a same day appointment and due to a cancellation, their technician Phillip was able to get to the property even earlier than scheduled. It was a simple fix and he had the part in the truck-so he got the AC up and running pretty quickly! Thanks Phillip!!

Brian was awesome! He informed me that he was on his way, arrived on schedule and was extremely knowledgeable. I grilled him with questions and not only did he answer them, he was up front about what to expect and the associated charges. Brian walked me through our options and provided me with some suggestions on how to better maintain our unit to get the most of it’s lifecycle. The team for the install were professional and cordial and very patient with all my questions. BLUF: They sound reputable according to other reviews, but if I could do it all over again I would have scheduled the leak test and repair (if possible) right off the bat (because apparently neither can be done when that they initially come out to check your unit), and tried to save myself almost $200.Full story: Our ac was not cooling the house (again), and we knew it was a freon leak because it happened 1 year ago and 3 years ago. What we really wanted to know was why this kept happening since just last year a different company had repaired a leak and refilled our freon, so we left that other company and tried our luck with Guy Smith based on their glowing reviews. I made sure they knew the full history of our ac and our concerns that some other underlying issue was occurring. We made an appointment for someone to come out, and because of the recent heat wave, we'd have to wait a few days. The technician came out, inspected the unit, and let me know that it was leaking freon and that I would need to schedule a leak test. He stated that he could not conduct one at that time (it was after 5 pm on a Friday) because it had to be scheduled through the office and they were closed already. Since there is an infant in the house and we couldn't get it cooled below 80 degrees he said that he could refill it with freon. The service charge for him to come out and tell me what I already knew and refill the freon was $189 (sidebar: on my receipt he marked that I declined a leak test, but I didn't; I was told I couldn't get it done until I called the office the next morning and scheduled one.). I called the office the next morning (Saturday) to schedule the leak test (again, due to the heat wave was going to be in a few days), which is a separate $249 charge, and then after the leak test you have to call back again to schedule the actual leak repair (had to wait a few more days) which for us was the weld on the copper 90 degree elbow connector on the suction line) costing an additional $935 ($1373 total in the end). The freon they refilled for $189 leaked out basically 2 days after it was refilled. I found out later that the leak repair would required all the freon to be taken out anyways, so I think that means it would have been a waste of $189 anyways even if it hadn't leaked out.I did ask/plead the receptionist for some sort of discount (like a military discount, or maybe on the original service call/freon refill since it seemed to me that the technician was recommending a pretty pointless repair that I agreed to only because we waited two days for them to come see our house and tell me what I already know and stop there), but when she spoke with the owner he said because I declined a leak test they couldn't do anything. I tried to clarify that I did not decline the leak test, but I never heard back from them and my charge was the fully quoted $935. Like I said in the beginning of my review, if I knew then what I know now, I would have specifically scheduled for a leak test in the beginning (because that first appointment/visit was literally a waste of $189) and asked them if they could also schedule time for the repair when they come out and do the leak test (so that we wouldn't have to wait 2-3 days to get the actual repair done). Hope this review helps someone else save a few bucks and time.

My grandmother who is 92 years old had her air conditioning break friday. She has been using this company for years pays them monthly for maintenance has had 2 brand new units put in the the past 10 years. Spent countless dollars with this company they come out to check it she pays them the money to tell her what's wrong then proceeds to tell her they have to order the part to fix it and it would take 2 weeks. Keep in mind she is 92 no air conditoner in the house. Finally say they will come Monday and fix it nope they wont have the part for another day and only find this out after having to call because we have been waiting hours for them to show up they tell me they will call us right back and hours later still nothing....will warn people never to use them if this is how they treat a Clint that has used them for years

This company was very professional and prompt to make a service call. The diagnosis from the Tech was to replace circuit board and blower motor. This was made without a multimeter or a tool touching the inside of the unit. It was also recommended that a whole new system would probably be the best move. I thanked him for the diagnosis and said i needed to think about it. Called another company where a technician actually went hands on, found a faulty connector and replaced it. System was working like new in 10 minutes. It seems there are companies that want to fix things for you and others that want to sell new systems to you. They should not be confused. This company certainly wants to swap parts or systems, no actually fixing or diagnosis will take place just sales.

Last Spring the tech did not test the freon on doth units. We have been having trouble with the upstairs unit for years. During the last two month the unit runs constantly when the tempature reaches 55 degrees.

Today I was quoted $650 for a simple condensation drain pipe flush. No replacement parts necessary or included in the quote. This was clear gouging. I very easily found another HVAC company who provided the same service for $94, and a friend of mine who is an HVAC professional in another state says $175 is the max charge for this type of service, and that includes some more detailed work if there are some issues that arise. Either the on-call technician was attempting to gouge me and pocket the money himself, or this company as a whole does not reasonably price its services.

I am very impressed with Guy Smith Heating and Cooling. My AC wasn't producing much hot air and there were some pretty cold nights in January and February. Due to my job, I was gone a lot, but when I finally called, their customer service was easy to work with and they were able to send a technician out later that day. I received an automated text with the technicians name and an alert when when he was on his way. Jon Shaffer was a professional through and through. As a hands-on guy with minimal HVAC knowledge, I had tons of questions. He didn't mind me tagging along up in the crawl space and asking him everything I was curious about. He walked me through everything he was checking out. After inspecting both the air handler and the heat pump, we discovered a refrigerant leak and a worn out heating element. Jon took all the time I needed to talk through everything. From how long I plan to live at this house, the expansion plans with an extra room, to family needs and lifestyle. And we discussed all the options, from leak detection, refrigerant filling and equipment repair costs in relation to my foreseen time in this house and taking into consideration the future sale of the property and how old the system would be at the time; as well as total system replacement. We crawled around the other crawl space access and talked out relocating the air handler to get it out of the cramped location it was currently in. We walked around the house discussing the ideal relocation of the heat pump for my house expansion plans. I think we walked through every possible option in preceding forward. All in all, he was here for over 3 hours when the inspection only took him 1/2 hour. The rest was all answering my questions. I ended up deciding to replace the system and am happy with the decisions we settled on.Thomas Britton and his crew showed up two days later to install the new system. They were polite and went right to work. They laid drop clothes to protect my hardwood floors. They successfully removed the old system and installed the new system in one day and I was enjoying my warm house by nightfall. The installation looks very clean and neat.Nobody is happy about dropping a lot of money for an unplanned home repair. But having a good experience with a company's customer service and the field technicians makes a world of difference. I am glad I chose Guy Smith Heating and Cooling and will definitely call them in the future when I begin to add the extra room.

I recently had my home unit stop working; could have easily been mistaken for major problems. Jon Shaffer from Guy Smith showed up and showed me it was just the low pressure side sensor shutting off the system. A reset and back up. While it may need future repairs if it goes bad again I am up and running. So I called and Jon showed up at my business to check one of my units there. Brian returned this spring to checkout the AC system. Text and email were again received prior to his arrival. He was very friendly and informative. He thoroughly went through both inside and outside units, cleaning and oiling all parts. He wrote shoe covers and mask while inside and cleaned up all areas. Everything checked out fine.I’m very satisfied with Brian and Guy Smith.Called Guy Smith to check out my furnace for the heating season. Brian was the service tech that came out. while he was on the way the company set me a text giving Brian’s info along with his picture. That’s a helpful touch. He was very nice, friendly and thoroughly knowledgeable. He explained what he was doing as he went along. The first thing he found was the vent pipe had not been properly installed and worked on it to make it proper and safe.He found the gas valve was not operating properly, he replaced it and the unit worked nicely.Brian cleaned up the work area after he finished the work.I plan to use Guy Smith for the semi annual inspections as well as any other HVAC issues.

This was my first issue with the AC since I started using this company. Of course it happened after hours and on a Friday. So at 12:40 AM I put a call in since my AC stopped working and I discovered this when I got home from work. Within 10 minutes to my surprise Brian called me back to see what was going on. I briefly explained the situation and he said he would be out. I was so surprised. I told him No, it was late, would be difficult to see much and asked if he could possibly come out Saturday? He said he would be there by 9 am. Again I was stunned. He arrived as promised, found the issue, gave me a price quote (3 of them) and I chose the one I wanted and in no time my unit was fixed. Brian was professional, explained things really well and in a way I understood.I have to admit, I have been so impressed with this company since I first contacted them. I could not be happier with this company and the people who work with them.I needed a new motor fan for my air conditioner. It took a couple days for the part to come in but once it was verified that it was in they were out here the next day. Kevin did an awesome job. I don't think he was even here 30 minutes. He's a nice person, pleasant, professional, and explain things. Explain things. I'm very satisfied and hope to see Kevin again under better circumstances.I am updating my review. I just had my yearly maintenance done on my hair conditioner and heating system with this company and again they still impress me. Today I had Thomas and he was totally awesome. Unknown to this area in Virginia Beach I thought I needed help with my HVAC unit. This guy comes out, listens to the system and tells me everything seems to be working fine. I just purchased my condo and it had a new HVAC system. He offered to change the fluids and filter and then went on to say that I needed a part to make it run more efficiently. This part cost me nearly $900 which a new HVAC system didn’t need. He didn’t say that it’s under warranty because it’s only 3 months old. Me being a widow woman and unfamiliar with these systems, I feel like I was taken advantage of. And they had me sign up for a twice a year service contract with monthly payments which come to realize from my realtor I didn’t need. So I contacted this company spoke to the owner and ask him to make it right. I am completely unhappy with this company and would not recommend them.

09/27/2017 (UPDATE below)Realizing I have a choice among several Heating and AC companies in the Hampton Roads area. I chose Guy Smith H&C, having never dealt with them before, and that selection was based on local reputation.A new Goodman 2 ton/14 SEER Condenser, gas furnace, coil exchange and air handler was purchased on 9/18/2017 and installed on 9/20/2017. To start, I’m going to say three things. (1) For having a new system for exactly a week now, I have met too many Guy Smith technicians. (2) Technicians Jon (Shaffer), Phil and Gerald; superb help!! (3) Installers C. and M…..not so much.The buying process with Jon was outstanding, he is extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with!Installers arrived as scheduled, at about 9am and departed at 8:00PM. Way too much time for a small system and installed by supposed seasoned installer and helper. Two hours before they actually left, when my wife asked for an update/possible completion timeframe the lead responded with “another couple of hours, got to rewire a few things here…” This did not instill confidence. They left after showing the completion paperwork to my wife without fully testing/demonstrating that both heating and cooling worked. Of course, as soon as they were out of sight, the system turned on and included a LOUD howling sound of air escaping/whistling out of either the air handler or existing ducting (which had never happened before). She called the company and was told to turn the system off until another tech could come back and inspect.Phil and Gerald were next to respond. I’ll repeat, they were outstanding, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with! The air escaping/howling turned out to be a tape leak behind the air handler at the bottom. Not a huge deal, I can understand this happening (but, should have been corrected during the installation). They also took the time to re-tape several areas around the air handler and furnace. IN ADDITION they checked gas pressure and adjusted the high side at the furnace, tested secondary float switch and checked inside and outside for any leaks. They did a full system check knowing that the city would be here to inspect the system in 2 days. What would have been an inspection hit….installing 20 amp breakers at the compressor disconnect when the compressor is rated for 15 amps. Gerald went to the big orange store for a replacement breaker, came back and installed it. Again, a pleasure working with them! I’m hoping that their findings are also feedback to the company and original installers.What bothers me and needs to be feedback to Guy Smith Co.;(1.) Eleven and a half (11 ½) hours to install a system in a closet, not an attic.(2.) At completion, no demonstration. Just sign the paperwork and go(3.) The air escaping/howling was quite evident. Should have been resolved at that time, they clearly knew/heard it.(4.) No mention of gas pressure checks/leak checks/safety switch checks(5.) Over-amperage breaker installed at the compressor disconnect switch. I understand the shop was out of 15amp breakers, ok, so they couldn’t stop somewhere and buy the right size…they knowingly installed the incorrect amperage breakers. I understand the risk is slim with “new” equipment. And, the fact they never mentioned anything about it or that it should be replaced before inspection. I woke up to a cold house; my air handler blower stopped working in the middle of the night. HomeAdvisor directed me to Guy Smith. They came out same day for a diagnostic. My control board stopped sending signals to my blower— my heat worked, it just wasn’t circulating. They were able to do a temporary fix and get my house feeling warm again.They were able to get the replacement part in quick fashion and replaced it quick.Luckily everything was still under warranty, so it didn’t cost as much as I was thinking. Both techs were professional. Office personnel I talked to over the phone were very polite.Happy with my experience; will update of anything changes.

We'd been having problems with a pipe carrying condensation water which for some reason was ran the length of the house. We thought Guy Smith would have to drill a new hole through the bricks out of the garage to drain the condensation. However, the technician suggested a much easier fix, installing a small pump to force the water through the pipe. He was able to get the pump and install it within a couple of hours. Problem solved that day!

This is my second time using their services. The previous company, recommended thru my home warranty (AHS), could not repair the ac and was referred back to AHS to send a separate service, which could take up to two weeks! With near 100 degree days, I could not wait two weeks, let alone two days…. I called GUYS Heating & Cooling. I was able to get a same day appt. This company is slow and very time consuming. Their employees milk hours, they must get paid hourly. As I am told by many other customers, They never bring proper parts and have to have an employee make multiple trips to their warehouse and back to the job. One couple told me guy smith was at their home from 10am until 9pm that day. They asked the employees if they could come back the following day and the employees said they are told they have stay and finish the job. This couple fell asleep on their couch waiting for this company to leave. Out of 5 customers that used this company because of their false positive reviews all 5 customers said guy smith took the entire day to do a job. If you use this company you can guarantee they will still be clanking away while your at the dinner table with your family.

I have been a commercial tin knocker for 12 years before joining the military. Apparently the free money from the government wasn't enough, Guy Smith also wanted to snatch money from an 82 year old wheelchair bound senior. It is questionable whether the condenser (outside) and air handler (in attic)both had to be replaced. Nothing has ever been stored in the attic. Nobody ever goes up there. And as a ductman, I know not to walk or step on duct. Seems like more air is coming out of the connections he tied into than what would enter the house. The unit also cycles almost every 9 minutes like clockwork. At least the time I have visited here. I wish I had checked the work sooner but unfortunately not able to. I could not in good conscience leave anyone, much less a wheelchair bound senior with half a55 work. Also they left all the trash in the attic, the pieces of particle ductboard they cut away, the rolls of tape cardboard (looks like white webbing strap, definitely not aluminum to seal the connections), and pieces of piping. I don't understand why they didn't put the wires in a junction box or at a minimum cover with electrical tape, but with all that old attic dust and loose insulation, perhaps they figure an electrical fire would be more efficient to heat the house. I also do not see any signs of new aluminum tape near where the unit was installed, probably why you can feel air leaking out the bottom of it. I guess spending almost $9000 doesn't warrant proper use of sealers and tapes and replacing duct they crush. It definitely didn't cover $3.99 for a roll of electrical tape. I am going to contact the city and show them the wiring and file a BBB complaint for my father. Also, no reason whatsoever for a unit swap to cost that much, maybe before shortages, but this was done summer of 21 before installers started increasing costs. I can still get unit now with higher seer rating and smart thermostat and installed under what was charged.Edit. After contacting office, they had a tech call. They showed up next day. I asked for owner, but don't think I ever spoke to them. Based on pics and phone conversation with the tech it sounds like the problem was remedied. Also their reps seemed to agree that no excuse for condition of the job, but what would have happened if unnoticed. I have not personally seen the repair, but I do intend to check behind their repair. They have tried to fix it, only time will tell how things will adjust. The 9 minute cycling has reduced a lot. From 0 to 3 star, based on great follow up. Will reassess when I can see final product.

No complaints there, other then having the inconvenience of multiple trips to ensure the quality of the installation. The main reason for only providing 3 stars is not because of that, but unfortunately, the first technicians laid down the sticky plastic meant for carpets on our hardwood stairs. I appreciate the attempt to keep the area protected, but it seemed they used the wrong stuff. When the job was completed the first time (before the next 2 service calls), the protected plastic was lifted, which also stripped the hardwood stairs finish off, leaving a 2-tone look to the stairs. I showed the other techs who came out, who said they would take pics and show the office. I called to address the issue, and spoke with Sunny, as the owner was on vacation at the time. I was not thrilled about his lack of listening to my complaint, and said I'd have to write a negative review if the company was not willing to at least take a look at the issue to come to some type of agreement to have it fixed. He was not happy with me wanting to make a negative review, and said some other unpleasant things, and ended up hanging up on me. Before he did so, I was as patient as I could be, but he insisted this issue was not from the install. I have pictures of the stairs from before and after, and it's very obvious there is a difference, and exactly where the plastic was laid down. I attempted to call numerous times after that to speak to the owner. I left voice messages, that were never returned. I wasn't expecting an overnight fix, but I was hoping the company would at least hear me out, come see the stairs and take ownership of the issue, even going half on getting it resolved. I did not want to make a negative review, especially after the 3rd technician came out, I think his name was John, he was excellent and worked and sweat his butt off to get the unit working properly. I've hesitated for a while to make this review, as I prefer not to, and wanted to see how the unit faired during the hot summer, but this may be the only way to get their attention now. To the owner, Mr. Smith, if you read this, and are willing to come back to the house yourself to assess the damage on the hardwood stairs, I'd REALLY appreciate it, and would be happy to increase my rating. If not, unfortunately, I'd have to say it's not great business, and would not recommend you to friends/family in the future.

Called this a.m. AC fixed this afternoon house is cooling down what great customer service from staff answering phone to the tech....Larry who came to our rescue. You want fast, courtesy and efficient call Guy Smith HVAC. Had parts needed on the truck in and out 15 minutes. Called several different company's got sales pitches to purchase membership VIP package for service. So far we are really pleased with the Heating/Air service we have received from Guy Smith. We had the whole system checked out, had an air scrubber installed, and signed up on a maintenance contract. There is always someone available to talk to. After a week with the air scrubber that had an ozone feature, we decided we didn't want the ozone so they removed that part at no extra cost. All the heating/air service people have been friendly and knowledgeable. We recommend their services.

Awesome Service- I used the website late at night to email about a concern I had that I thought was being caused by the HVAC. The following morning I received a phone call and got an appointment for the same day. Even though the technician was running late, I received phone calls updating throughout so I was never left questioning. Also, there was inclement weather holding things up that no one could account for. Brian was a delight. He was very respectful, wore a mask, and assessed the issue. It turns out it wasn’t an HVAC issue, but he helped pinpoint what the cause could be. I signed up for the yearly service after the great impression.

I love the new scheduling system that Guy Smith uses. I know exactly when to expect the team to arrive and they are on time. I had a duct issue and Mike and Thomas came out and were beyond professional. They were polite, laid down a protective runner, and cleaned up after themselves. The repair was done with minimal noise and my kids were able to attend virtual class without interruption. Another outstanding job completed by everyone. Arrived as scheduled. Started work immediately and after a bit of ceiling drywall removal, found the problem why there was no air at the register. Duct wasn't even connected at a junction above the room. Had been that way since the house was built. The guys replaced one piece of ducting and made the missing connection all in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner getting the job done in less than three hours. As I said, it was another outstanding job completed by Guy Smith and their employees. Thanks loads guys.

The technician came to my house and temporarily fixed my heating unit. He said he thought the control board was bad. The next day they called and quoted me $750 for a new board and installation. I looked up the part number on Amazon and found out it was only $68 with free shipping. Installation appears to be very easy. I could screw this up 11 times and it would still be cheaper than to have them replace it once.

It all started with a clogged drain line…. I called another company, they came out 4 days later to clear the drain. Luckily this was when we had some cooler temps. I was told the 15 year old unit looked great and we had plenty of time left on it. The next time we ran the unit buckets of water was coming from our back up drain, the drain pan was full of water, and we noticed water spots on our ceiling under the unit in the attic. I called the company that serviced it on a Sunday and they said they couldn’t come until Tuesday, that was not ok with me.I contacted Guy Smith Heating and Cooling via their website on that Sunday afternoon, hoping for an appointment Monday morning. Katelyn called me within the hour to get more info. She explained that the situation was not good and she said “I think I can help you”, those were the words I needed to hear in that moment. She gathered some info, put me on a brief hold, and came back to say “my tech will be there in 25 minutes.” Amazing customer service on her part! She put me at ease even with a full blown leaking unit and a 4 year old begging for my attention during the call.Kevin arrives, asks a few questions, explains everything and starts to blow out the drain line (you know the one that was already cleared). This time he didn’t stop until he got it cleared, he was adamant that it wasn’t cleared. He tried again and sure enough a ton of rust came blowing back up the drain pipe all over the unit.After further inspection and showing us pictures, he noted that the unit was rusting apart. Fixing it would only delay the inevitable replacement. So we started the quote process right there at my kitchen table. He outlined all the options for replacement, explained payment options, scheduling, maintenance, etc. There wasn’t a question I had that he didn’t answer. We ended up purchasing a new unit to replace the one that the other company said was “doing fine.”The install guys arrived on Friday morning as scheduled. They were professional, clean, personable, prompt, informative, helpful, and every other positive descriptor you could use. They even covered our floors and steps with a canvas type fabric to ensure the amount of dirt tracked through the house was minimal. They were here all day but had little impact on my ability to continue to work from home.I HIGHLY recommend Guy Smith Heating and Cooling for ANY HVAC need you should have!*I added photos of the drain pan for reference.

Ive been doing business with GS for many years and have been satisfied with the results at two different homes. My current home has an older heat pump and it runs fine but the specs plate was missing so the tech, Larry, took the time today and manually figured all the information he needed to make appropriate adjustments to the equipment and immediately my house felt cooler and dryer. I was pleased with the time he took and I really felt educated after the explanation he gave me. He is obviously a knowledgeable HVAC technician. Guy Smith delivers!!
