I used them a few months ago to replace the indoor unit at a rental home and the install went great. I was very pleased. And I was happy to find a company I could rely on to do a good job.Fast forward to yesterday, I called them to check a Trane unit at another home. The fee to come out was a reasonable $75. The tech came out and found that a mouse had chewed through a wire at the outdoor unit. They wanted an additional $120 to splice in a new wire and reprogram my thermostat. When I asked why the thermostat would need to be reprogrammed, he stumbled over his explanation, finally saying the error codes needed to be cleared. I know for a fact that you only need to reboot the thermostat via the wall switch to clear the error codes (I was right, btw). He calls me back and agrees to just change the wire for $80. Fine. It's still expensive, but at least it'll be done. When I checked the job this morning, I could see the old wire leading right up into the unit. I'll edit this if I find a spliced in wire when I check tomorrow morning, but I assume he just used the slack in the wire to reconnect to the control board. In addition, he broke the plastic housing on top of the condensor in two places, and left the sharp edge of the panel rubbing against the wires going into the unit. See the photos. When I called to complain this morning, the service manager told me it was his honest opinion I had intended all along to find everything wrong I could with the job so that I could get out of paying for it. At least he agreed to refund the entire amount, but now I have an outdoor condensor that looks broken as I try to sell the house.I have all the calls recorded in case anyone in management at Christianson wants to hear them.
