I called several electricians before calling Mr. Sparky and they were the only company to follow through with an appointment. Not only that, but they got me on the schedule quickly, and then called the day before to see if I would like an appointment even sooner.We had several outlets that were not working, due to two separate issues. They were able to locate the problem and fix it quickly. They were both professional and dependable. Glad I called and would recommend to anyone.

Had an electrical issue with Hot Water Heater at one of my rentals. Called one electrical company however they could NOT send a tech to my rental until later in the day. This would have pushed back my family's trip to the NC Mtns to sky by several hours.I did a Google search for Charlotte, NC area electricians, gave Viva Electric a call and they dispatched a tech immediately. 30 mins later, Tommy from Viva Electric arrived at my rental to diagnosis the electrical issue.Tommy was patient as I explained in layman terms the electrical issue. Tommy went through Viva's routine diagnostic check and accurately pinpointed the issue. In 45 mins time, Hot Water was restored to my rental unit and 30 mins later, I and my family were on our way to the NC Mtns for some skiing!

I cannot say enough about the excellent service Bates Electric provided my family in an emergency. When a fallen tree limb ripped the service line away from my house on a late Thursday evening, it left my wife (who was only weeks away from her due date at the time) and I in the dark. With a little one on the way, multiple animals needing protection from the heat (over 90 during the day), and the weekend rapidly approaching we were scrambling to find a solution. Bates dispatched a professional immediately. The electrician that arrived (Jeremy) was the definition of a professional. He was knowledgeable, fast, courteous, and provided accurate advice on how to resolve our issues. Jeremy genuinely cared about the situation my wife and I had fallen into and stayed engaged in the process from start to finish and then some. IF you've ever had to go through an emergency outage you will know that there are a lot of moving parts involved between the energy company, the electrician and the city/county inspectors. This is where Bates really shined. When the repair work was done, the back office took over to push us over the goal line. While the repairs where done, the energy company was refusing to restore service without an inspection by the city/county. Getting both a permit and an inspection completed on a Friday during a pandemic is one of the toughest deadlines possible. To make things even tougher, the permit office was going through a IT outage that significantly stalled the process. Bates' back office (especially Alexis) stepped up to take on the challenge. Through close coordination and effective communication, they were able to get the entire process fast tracked and completed before the weekend. Bates earned a customer in me and will be my first call for any future needs (especially emergencies).

Bobby removed and replaced a ceiling fan, removed a chandelier, and removed a double sconce light fixture. He also installed 7 recessed LED lights and they are perfect. His work is impeccable. I had an issue with lighting and wiring after remodeling my shower. Nate was able to fix it for a fair price. Very personable and well spoken, he explained the mechanics of my issue, my options for getting the breaker up and running again without a sales pitch for stuff I didn’t need or want. Recently we decided to have a generator and interlock switch installed to make it safe and easy to provide backup power to our entire house during a power outage. I work from home 2 days a week and it’s important for me to keep my power on. We also decided to install 2 lampposts along our driveway.
The first company I spoke with, who shall remain anonymous, emailed an estimate for just the home backup generator solution for $12,000.
That same week I had set up a similar meeting with GB Electrical Services. Immediately I knew I was dealing with a much more professional company from the way I was treated on the phone to set up the appointment to receiving text messages telling me the technician Ed Bunch was on his way. When Ed arrived, we went through the walkthrough of everything we wanted done. He listened closely and asked me questions to help him determine what type of solution would work best for me. He even asked about the types of things I needed power for including asking if I had plans to buy an electric car which would require a special charging outlet. Once we went through all our power needs, he took some time to go through all my existing wiring. He then concluded that he could reuse an existing breaker box that had at one time been used for a hot tub from a previous owner. He said he would switch that to the outlet that would be used to plug the generator into. He also said that if he could find an interlock switch that was made for my 22 year old electrical panel that it would save him from needing to install an external transfer switch.
The next day I received the estimate from the GB team. They were able to find the interlock switch that was made for my 22 year old electrical panel which saved me $1,400. The bottom line is the total was $8,000 less than the other electrician was going to charge me.
Ed returned to install the generator and brought his helper Nick with him. They treated my property with respect and even wore shoe covers when they entered the house. They were polite and worked quickly to complete the work. I actually ended up with LESS hardware on the back of our house when Ed swapped out the existing breaker box for the outlet to plug the generator into. The interlock switch fit perfectly into my existing electrical panel. When they were done, Ed then shut the main power switch off to simulate an outage and showed me step by step how to connect the generator and power the house back up. Ed was very patient while I asked many questions and wrote down all the steps he was teaching me.
A week later Ed came back to do the lampposts. He brought Dawson with him this time to assist. They spent the day in the pouring rain pulling wires and mounting the 2 lampposts. Dawson showed me the switch he and Ed were installing which was a Lutron Caseta wireless (Bluetooth) switch. I was impressed with the technology as it can resolve a lot of difficult wiring challenges along with not needing a lot of fishing wires through walls. I can even control it from my phone if I so choose.
They finished the job, tested everything and they showed me how to operate the system. They cleaned up everything and told me to expect the electrical inspector in the next few days who needs to sign off on the permit. The next morning the Union County Electrical Inspector showed up and inspected all of the work Ed, Dawson and Nick had completed. He went through everything and didn’t find a single concern and said they had done a good job. The inspector had never seen the Bluetooth power switch before and was interested enough to look it up online. He wanted to make sure it was UL Labs approved which it was. He signed off on the permit being finalized.
Bottom line is if you want someone to give you an honest complete evaluation of your electrical needs who will give you the best options while respecting your budget, ask for Ed Bunch at GB Electrical Services. I highly recommend him and the rest of the GB Team.

SCAMMERS! AVOID THIS COMPANY. Was quoted $95 hourly rate on the phone, and described the job in detail, providing my address. Electrician arrived and didn't have the parts needed to complete the job. Said he would have to charge us 2 hours labor in order to go back and get the parts needed. Electrician asked my husband to leave work and go get the parts needed. I called the office to talk about the lack of preparedness and was told they would discount the hourly rate (which she jacked up to $125) back down to the $95 I was originally quoted. They were counting on us moving forward due to a time crunch, but fortunately, we had some wiggle room in the schedule and sent these scammers packing.
