I have no problem at all with my current sump pump but, I purchased an emergency backup system for protection, in case of a power outage, and needed it installed so I contacted Joseph Plumbing and Drain Cleaning to do the job for me. My appointment was scheduled for a 9-12 window and the gentlemen were knocking at my door at 8:55 am. They went to my pump to assess my needs, mentioned an alternative option to the pump that I had already purchased, quoted me a price and immediately went to work. Not only did the gentlemen install my new back up sump pump but they also corrected a potential problem with the PVC pipe that was already in place. Once all the work was done, they cleaned the area of all the old pipes and useless materials. In summary, the team that came to my home was punctual, professional, reasonably priced and, I will definitely be using them for all of my plumbing needs in the future.

David and Tony showed up at arranged appointment time reviewed drainage system and were straight forward about how to clear out the blockage. They also suggested arranging to have the camera system come out to make sure they are no roots or other possible causes for blockage in the system. They were able to clear the blockage after about 25 feet of snaking but continued the full 100 feet to be safe. I was happy to see the blade on the front end of the snake to be clean with no roots. Initial cost quoted was way out of my price range. But they made it happen for me within my budget. Overall it was a good experience

I called Plumber in DC this morning after the tenants in our basement apartment informed us that their toilet was blocked up. Plumber in DC told us that a plumber would be dispatched within an hour or two if we would pay a $200 emergency fee. We agreed to the fee. Two hours later, Plumber in DC texted that it had accidentally doubled booked our plumber and that we would have to wait another two hours for him to complete another job before he could come do ours. I texted back and asked if I would still have to pay the emergency fee since we were not be treated as an emergency. Plumber in DC then called me and berated me over the phone, angrily telling me in a loud voice that, yes, we would still have to pay the fee and that I needed to remember that the customer is not always right. And that is a quote. He literally would not let me get a word in edgewise, yelling at me over the phone while my family sat around me listening and absolutely stunned by his behavior.

Were it not for our tenants, we would have cancelled the appointment right then and there and used the bathroom at our local McDonald's for the evening while we looked for another plumber. But we would not do that to our tenants. So we tolerated the behavior and did not cancel.

When the plumber arrived, he was from a company in Fredericksburg, Virginia -- 50 miles and more than an hour from DC. He told us it would cost $550 on top of the $200 emergency fee before he would even begin to snake the pipe. Again, at this point we had little choice but to agree. The plumber worked for about 1.5 hours, charged us $750, and told us afterwards that while the blockage was clear for now he couldn't guarantee the work because he wasn't sure if he'd actually fixed the problem.

So we are out $750 for 1.5 hours of work with no guarantee.

In sum, consumers should be aware that Plumber in DC is not a DC plumbing company -- it is a dispatching operation for plumbers all over the region. It is also very expensive, incredibly rude to its clients, and does not guarantee its work. Never again.

We needed some copper pipe replaced at my mom's house (pin hole leaks behind drywall in a 70 y.o. house) and liked Johnnie's work so much we asked him to come back to install a new shower/tub faucet in one bathroom and install new washers in an original faucet in another. This experience was truly amazing. I had a complexed job on my hands. The plumber assigned would not leave until the matter was resolved. I had (2) plumbers express that they did not know how to resolve the matter and the other plumber expressed he doesn’t have the time. The Plumber from ABZ was attentive / versed/ diagnosed on the spot and had a e dry tool to fix the issue. The price was reasonable and we know have a working shower faucet with no leak / better pressure and cold water for the first time. I truly recommend. ABZ has also switched out a leak in the in the basement via welding along with switching a kitchen sink upgrade as well. I’m satisfied every time and we have yet to revisit any their work.
