Bill Martin came to my house and change my indoor and outdoor unit. Him and his assistant Moris gave me and my wife the best service and price around town. We highly recommend him to everyone.

If you are like me when it comes to repairs I am just used to opening my wallet and let myself be robbed because of not being mechanically inclined. I got three estimate for repair to my AC unit and was given a range of 3000 to 5500 dollars being told this was needed, that was needed and so on. Anyway with money being tight I tried one more estimate and contacted James Dodd Plumbing and Air. The office staff was very friendly and was able to get Mr. Dodd himself out there the same day. So what the other repair places made seem like the end of the world turned out that just a minor repair was needed and the cost was minor. I was so relieved. So yes 'Virginia' there is a honest repair man out there. If you are looking for honesty, professionalism and people that follow through go with James Dodd Plumbing and Air.

Brian returned this spring to checkout the AC system. Text and email were again received prior to his arrival. He was very friendly and informative. He thoroughly went through both inside and outside units, cleaning and oiling all parts. He wrote shoe covers and mask while inside and cleaned up all areas. Everything checked out fine.I’m very satisfied with Brian and Guy Smith.Called Guy Smith to check out my furnace for the heating season. Brian was the service tech that came out. while he was on the way the company set me a text giving Brian’s info along with his picture. That’s a helpful touch. He was very nice, friendly and thoroughly knowledgeable. He explained what he was doing as he went along. The first thing he found was the vent pipe had not been properly installed and worked on it to make it proper and safe.He found the gas valve was not operating properly, he replaced it and the unit worked nicely.Brian cleaned up the work area after he finished the work.I plan to use Guy Smith for the semi annual inspections as well as any other HVAC issues.

I am quite upset because Betty's name is still being used and they do not honor work that had already begun in North Carolina saying they have been taken over by Atlantic and Atlantic doesn't have a NC license. This unit cost $5.300.00 and we can't get a company in NC that will take over Betty's contract. We even paid for labor & parts to be good until 2021. We trusted Betty's and want to know why they can't acquire a NC license to honor their contracts if they are going to continue advertising. Where does that leave all the rest of the people that trusted them in N.C. I lived in Newport News all my life and referred Betty's to everyone I know. I can't even get Betty's Supervisor or owner to call back to talk to them. Help somebody!
We have been dealing with this over three weeks. The water of condensation falls straight through to the duck work and pulled it down. My husband is in his 80's and crawled under the house and saw what has happened. The drain is not clogged. The water just goes straight through. We shut off the unit so no more damage can be done. We don't want to mess up our warranty knowing this. Here is a warning to all residents in N.C.

A technician came and inspected my gas furnace and said it needed to be replaced due to its age and condition. He also said the blower was not working and the main limit had been bypassed. My unit is only 7 years old and was last serviced by A-1 American a few years ago. After paying the $78 service fee and receiving a quote for a new unit we declined the service and called Michaels and Son. They replaced the blower and main limit switch. I feel as if I was being swindled by the tech and believe he was more concerned with selling me a new unit rather than repairing the one I had. I'm very disappointed at the treatment by A-1 American and won't recommend their services to anyone.
