We had Sledge Concrete Coatings apply cool decking to our entire back patio. The results are beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Joan was a delight to talk to on the phone. She was friendly and explained everything thoroughly. Kayla was also thorough and answered all our questions when she came to our home to give us the estimate. My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

Miko and his team are responsive, creative, detail oriented and professional. My husband had an idea to create a corner stone fireplace In our family room. Miko helped to design it and then built it. It is beautiful and works perfectly!

Miko also helped us to add full sliding window doors across our family room wall. It is so cool, bringing light in with a great view of our back yard!

The team also put in floors and new countertops. I love all our remodeling and Miko made possible!

Austin and his team at RafterHouse have done a fantastic job building a strong brand in the Arcadia neighborhood. My wife and I were presented with an opportunity to build a home with them this year, and we’re currently in the process of building. From the moment you walk in their office to sit down to go over the plans, all the way through to the interior design finishes, everything with RafterHouse has been first class. We even hired RH to furnish the home to keep the style and design consistent inside and out. Keep up the excellent work!

Sean and Brian did a great job on my roof. Perhaps just as importantly Sean spent lots of time with me beforehand making sure we got the job right and helping me with some other paperwork I needed to complete. There were some extra things I wanted doing on the roof and the team went out of their way to do these to make the job perfect. Altogether a great experience.

We reluctantly reached out to Handyman Connection when our home builder, Artisan Builders AZ also known as Win Big Development LLC, refused to fix issues for our home that were (lawyer verified) within our warranty after months of runaround. Although we were originally frustrated spending money in this scenario considering legal assistance would’ve superseded the actual cost of the work, we had a great experience. Greg, the project lead, did a fantastic job at communicating what the required fixes would be, the *freshly* sensitive topic of warranty that Handyman Connect would provide after their work, and what to expect through the 3 day project. When they arrived a few weeks later Zack and Josiah did a fantastic job with the required fixes, accommodating our home schedule for work, and ensuring we were content with the completed work. I am a first-time homeowner and having a general “handyman” available has been something I really wanted to feel comfortable, I feel much better knowing the scope of Handyman Connects portfolio as well as the quality of their service.
