We called RC Electric and had Ryan come out to give us a quote on running a sub-panel and the electrical rough-in for our basement renovation. He showed up on time, answered all my questions, and was knowledgeable. It wasn't until we got the itemized quote that we were upset. Out of 7 different electricians we received quotes from, RC Electric was by far the highest. They wanted to charge us $10,150 for the same job that I just paid $5,500 for. Even the second highest estimate was only $7,500. So why was I being charged so much more you ask? Answer: Marked up parts and almost double labor costs. A simple example was the cost of the 100-Amp sub-panel. RC Electric wanted to charge me $879 just for the sub-panel and that doesn't include the breakers or the cost of running the wire from the main panel to the new sub-panel. The electrician I used only charged $350 for a 100-Amp sub-panel parts and that included the cost of the breakers. As I read further through the rest of the quote, it was the same thing repeated. Price increases on everything. I will never use RC Electric even if they did amazing work. Take some advice from me and always get 5-7 quotes for the same job so you don't get screwed out of your hard earned money.

Jerry just got done at our house and I could not recommend him more. He was extremely prompt, professional, and very fair priced (especially compared to some of the others I'd called in the area.) Mr. Darwin Bird and his staff at RU Electrical Service, Inc. provide excellent quality electrical work to their customers. They are knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I have always found them to be immediately responsive to my needs. Their communication with me has been superb. Recently I experienced an electrical outage at my home. My local power company was unable to diagnose the problem. I contacted RU Electrical Service, Inc at approximately 6:00 pm to schedule emergency service. Mr. Bird answered my telephone call personally and came to my home immediately. He diagnosed the problem quickly and efficiently. He explained the problem to me and then called the power company to advise them. In spite of further service needed by the power company, he continued to work diligently to restore power to my home. Obviously, I was completely satisfied with the emergency electrical service and quick response time provided by Mr. Bird. I highly recommend RU Electrical Service, Inc and I will continue to be a long-time customer.

I was on the verge of signing a contract with one of the major generator dealers in town when I thankfully asked a question about their lead time for installation. I couldn’t believe it when they told me 2 months. In reading another review on Google by Scott Smith for ERMCO generator work, I suspect I was communicating with the same company he was that quoted him a 2-month lead time. I was facing a 1 month deadline to get a Honeywell Generator (made by Generac) installed to claim an extended warranty promotion. I put a lot of faith in Scott Smith’s review and gave ERMCO a call. I am thanking my lucky stars I found them! This went from a stressful situation having to change direction on contractors late-in-the-game to stress-free working with ERMCO.

Josh and Russ were awesome to deal with. Josh came out to look at the situation and provide the quote. He communicated well, clearly knew what he was talking about, pointed out a few things that other contractors I called had wrong about generator placement, and had great turnaround time on the quote. He continued to answer all my follow-up questions very promptly. In my two interactions with the office, first to schedule the estimate, then to schedule the install, they were very pleasant to deal with. Russ is their lead installer and I was very impressed with his knowledge and attention to detail. I like to ask a lot of questions as a result of doing a lot of research, and I “helicopter” the job a bit just because I’m interested to see how things are done. Russ clearly cared about the work he was doing and took care to make sure the job was done right, not fast. He competently answered every question I could throw his way.

ERMCO came in with an attractive bid and did a great job! The quality of the install was excellent. Generator projects are not cheap projects by any means. This was a very fair price to pay for two skilled-trades people working at my house for a day with some hard-labor involved. A combination of good communication, good pricing, and good work made this the best contractor experience I’ve had in quite a while. Some other generator companies that I contacted in Indy must use tools forged from solid gold based on the prices they charge for 2 guys to get a job done in a day. I highly recommend ERMCO for generator installs (and I’m sure they do a great job at the sales and sizing part as well for those who want the entire generator project handled by ERMCO soup-to-nuts).

MW Electric was quick and efficient in fixing an outlet, even though it was a small job, they did not hesitate. They understood I wanted a professional.

They installed a new box in our garage when we bought a house on Indy's south side about 10 years ago, along with some other installations and updates.
