We used Marti's Plumbing Service for an emergency water heater change-out in June, 2021. We also asked that they apply for a building permit on our behalf, and Marti's agreed.

The technician sent by Marti's did not install all of the necessary parts for the water heater. He also cut the line between the water heater and the washer and caused a leak. Only after multiple conversations did Marti's compensate us for the amount that we had paid to repair the leak.

Marti's also refused to apply for a building permit after their initial promise, so I applied for a water heater change-out permit on my own. I received the following list of corrections from the City of Cupertino's building inspector. I called Marti's many times to bring the water heater up to code, because they provide a one-year warranty with their services, but it was very difficult to reach them to schedule a follow-up visit.

City of Cupertino's List of Required Corrections:

1. Single wall vent connector for water heater requires 6 min clearance to combustibles ( Sheetrock ) and single wall connector not approved for penetrating rated assembly.
2. Provide access to vent flue to verify B-vent or install new for water heater flue.
3. Provide insulation on first 5'ft of water lines at water heater
4. T&P piping at termination to not be threaded and to terminate 6-24 off garage floor or pipe to exterior and maintain same termination clearance off ground surface
5. Water heater to be fully blocked and braced
6. Water heater bracing at lower brace to be located within bottom 1/3 and 4 above control valve
7. Tighten water heater bracing
8. Provide water bond hot to cold and to gas line.
9. Provide approved expansion tank brace and install per manufactures installation instructions
10. Provide sediment trap on gas line after the valve and before the flex

I've been using them for years and they've always done a great job. They are quick and efficient, which is important when you have an emergency situation like a toilet overflow or a clogged drain.

We had a clogged air hose from the dishwasher. Our plumber showed up was a great guy. Had some issues with parts but resolved it. Project took longer due to this as the price was quite high in my opinion. But when you need it you need it done and that was our situation. Rates are on the very high-end of the industry as I found out after the fact. But they showed up and were very easy to work with start to finish.

Expect to Wait All Day
They give you a 4 hour window, but the supervisor shows up. The worker comes later in the day. The supervisor is trying to sell you a new water heater, when you just have a broken pipe. Why does it cost $1400 when the worker only make $10 per hour? Thr pipe did get fixed, tho.
Update: pipe repair failed a day later. More hours without water.

Called them for a job. Gave them my info and told them the issue. Was told someone would call back to give quote and help me out. Nada. Thanks.

My main water line erupted on a Sunday night of a 3-day weekend and I had no water in the house as a result. I called Freedom Underground Plumbing at 7 on Monday morning. Freddie and an assistant were here within an hour and set up a temporary water line so that I had water in the house again. They were back that afternoon and by Tuesday at noon, I had a brand new water line with little disruption to my landscaping and very efficient service. Called and they sent someone first thing in the morning. Did a great job fixing the problem. Will definitely use them again if needed.

These gentlemen were very professional and got the job done on a timely fashion at a reasonable cost. I will continue to only use them because their professionalism, respect for people's time, and continuity are very important to each side! Hands down I would highly recommend. Try them, you'll thank yourself later and won't be disappointed.

I had a clog in two restrooms. Great service! Quick response! I like he also gave a lot of good advices to prevent future clog. Would recommend to anyone!

I randomly started receiving unsolicited spam from 1 hour drain. How did that happen. It will be reported to the local federal trade commission!

3/18/2021 - I've contact them again asking for a receipt. No one seems to know who I originally talked with. All they say is they'll have to get the manager to call me back. No one has called me back. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONTACTING THEM SO YOU CAN AVOID THE SAME EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS SO-CALLED PLUMBING COMPANY.

The response was from the worker who asked if he could have more time to get me the money. It was apparent that they have not intention of providing me with a receipt OR the promised $300. They don't have a company name, the guy on the phone says he says there is no company because he's just a vendor. People that contact him requesting services, not just for plumbing, and he dispatches people. When I asked for a Contractor's License he said he had one but wouldn't give it to me. IF YOU LOOK UP SAN JOSE PLUMBERS THAT COMPANY IS NOT LISTED IN THE CALIFORNIA STATE LICENSE BOARD.

4/16/2021 UPDATE - WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY CONTRACTOR'S STATE LICENSE BOARD INFORMATION. THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO REGISTER WITH THE CITY OF CUPERTINO IF CHARGES ARE OVER $500 - THEY CHARGED ME $760 ON MARCH 6, 2021 - I STILL HAVE NO RECEIPT FOR THEIR WORK. MY RECOMMENDATION....... ****BEFORE YOU PAY THEM**** ASK FOR THEIR CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE, ASK THEM FOR A WRITTEN, ITEMIZED RECEIPT.
