Called to have my old clay connection to the city's main sewer line inspected for roots and possible breaks. The repairman did a great job. He was efficient and courteous and also quite informative. The video of the pipe showed the clay pipe was in good condition, but there were roots at two points where there were pipe connections. He had to return a day later to run a high power water spray through the pipe to clean out the roots. Ace's pricing is very reasonable for the service. Only problem was that he was 3 hours late for the initial appointment and I had to reschedule for another day. On that day he was 1/2 hour late. The service to remove the roots was right on time. Other than that, I was very satisfied with the service.

Daniel showed up on time 9 a.m. Thursday, cleared out the tree roots that seem to be the cause of the clogged garage to street drain, and tested it afterward. The entire job was done in under an hour. Very professional. The job was done with 60 day service warranty (one service recall). My wife was very happy with the job performance.
The cost is high in my opinion at $365/hour. Daniel did tell my wife about the cost/hour upfront and the wife did agree to it. I am open to any correction on my perception on cost since I do not know current typical average rate. My prior data points were that these kind of jobs should be in the $100-150 range, and I am willing to pay up to $200.

Lutz Plumbing recently repaired my Thermasol Steam generator and they did a great job. Everything from diagnosing the issue, to working w/ Thermasol on the warranty to installing the new unit went very smoothly and Vern was fantastic on site. I just posted a photo of the new toilet Ace installed. Our house has had Ace out numerous times to resolve various issues relating to our building's age (1880's) and the shoddy DIY work of previous owners. These guys have always been nice. Upfront, accurate estimates before work begins. In this particular bathroom Ace advised us we could either keep fighting the issue or simply replace the toilet. They let me select, from the variety at the big box hardware store, for whichever toilet would meet my needs (and fit). Dude! I so wish we'd done this long ago. It looks so sweet and the flush so reliable without threatening to overflow.
