Best Tankless Water in Saint Paul MN

We've used Erik Nelson for 3 projects (replacing galvanized pipes to increase water pressure in a bathroom, leaking kitchen faucet, leaking pipe in basement) and we've been impressed every time. They respond to phone calls promptly, show up on time, do an excellent job, are careful with our home, give estimates that are accurate, and are generally good people we enjoy working with. I recommend this company with no reservations.

We just finished building our first custom home, in Woodbury, but initially did not install a water softener. After two months we realized we needed a water softener badly, but were not happy with and did not want to use the plumbing company that the builder had used. So after some research, we had Matt Alberts out to give us an estimate. Not only was the estimate the most favorable price-wise, but we were very impressed with Matt as well. The softener was installed one week later, and the person that came out to do the install was great. He even discovered another plumbing issue we had, that if it wasn't addressed soon, would start to yield some big wear and tear on all of our brand new appliances. They were able to take care of this additional work the exact same day, during the same service visit.
I'm very particular about and demand a very high level of expertise and quality of work, and AJ Alberts delivered on all of these. We will be using them for any and all future plumbing needs.

My wife set-up an appointment to have an undermount bathroom sink bowl installed, to replace a sink bowl that had cracked. Joel arrived within the service window. It was immediately apparent that it was not work he wanted to do, for whatever reason. He informed me that it's a 'very rare' job...which is hard to believe as these are quite common. I had a replacement sink bowl purchased and ready to go. After pondering it a bit, he came back with a quote of $752. According to several contractor friends I'd spoken with, this is DOUBLE what the high-end cost for this job should've been. Joel noted that the job would take about 2 hours; it's was only sealing the sink to the marble and the reconnecting the pipes. So almost $400/hr for his time? I feel it was a straight-up swindle and he just inflated the cost so he'd walk out without any work and the $69 visit fee. I'm assuming this is a common practice with Soderlin, to inflate prices and then laugh all the way to the bank when they've conned the customer or walk away with $69 for 10 mins of poking around. We were scammed. I would caution working with this outfit, especially without any price range estimate before the service visit (which Joel said they don't do). The plumber arrived 35 minutes late to replace a faulty toilet shut off valve that was soldered in place. He didn't have a mask with him so we supplied one. In our upstairs bathroom placed his tools on our bath mat instead of a work towel. He used a torch to loosen the defective valve, and in the process scorched/burned the paint behind the toilet. He failed to use a heat shield to protect our wall. No apology. No response from the owners.

Took three days for him to put in a utility sink. Then had to call him back twice because one of the pipes he put in leaked. Charges by the minute and spent 20+ minutes trying to sell us on a specific faucet. He is not worth the hassle. Also, plumbers crack showed the whole time.
