Smith correctly identified that this was not the appropriate repair, and charged me less than $400 for a quick stem replacement, using better parts than I started with. Mike was quick, didn't make any mess, and answered my questions to my satisfaction. I am happy to say I finally found a plumbing company I trust, and will gladly recommend them to anyone!
