Checked for a major water leak at my 50 unit property. I received a huge water bill and was told there was a major leak on my property. I called ALD and the very professional team came out the next day and determined there was NOT a leak. I was quoted about 1900 if it took all day but since it took less time, I was charged a very reasonable 450. My water bill has been adjusted, Thank you ALD.

Had a basement leak and assumed it was from clogged/compromised drain lines from downspouts to the street. Steve came out and scoped the drains with a camera and was able to show us that although there was a couple small spots where roots had infiltrated the drain pipes, the lines were clear and running all the way out. Two previous companies came out and wanted 2-3000 to replace all the drains. So I answered “no” to the question about using this business because they were honest and showed us that we didn’t need to hire them. I appreciate their honesty and integrity.

Steve came out to perform a leak detection this morning. He was on time (actually a little early!) which is always a plus in my book when it comes to technician arrival windows. We appreciated not having to wait a long time. He was professional, kind, and worked efficiently. He was able to locate the leak within an hour and also gave us a quick fix so that we aren't losing money between now and the repair. Just waiting on the estimate for a repair now - but the leak detection service was a great experience and we're grateful for the peace of mind that other companies so far had not been able to provide.

UPDATE: while we didn't end up having ALD repair the leak that they detected, I wanted to share that Steve's detection was right on point. When the repair crew got into the floor, the leaking pipe was right where he said it would be. Literal X marks the spot. THANK YOU!

I called them and they were out same day, arriving 30 minutes before the appointment. Wolfe found the leak within 20 minutes. He and his helper were professional. He even spoke with the plumbers to discuss how to reroute to fix the leak without jackhammering my kitchen floor.

Despite the harsh sub-freezing temperatures, Steve and his crew quickly came to the rescue, locating and repairing a water main leak in our community. They were on site for nearly 12 hours, ensuring the work was done, and water service restored, the same day. They were professional throughout the process, and kept us informed of the status of the work. We will not hesitate to hire American Leak Detection again.

Both gentlemen were on time and very professional. They answered all of my questions and explained the issues to me in detail. The also did a fantastic job cleaning up after the job was completed. I would definitely recommend American Leak Detection.

The incompetence of American Leak Detection turned a $1,500 plumbing job into a $8,500 plumbing job. They twice mislocated the leak, causing two other areas of my home torn up before a different team of Plumbers (APEX is great) discovered the leak. Anyone would be better off hiring a psychic off the street to conjure the leak rather than hire this incompetent company. The customer service was very rude, and showed no empathy despite the fact the cost me an extra $7,200.

Upon painting our bdrm our painter had to use our hose bib to clean up his equipment. My husband opened the new valve for the hose bib and sure enough it ended up leaking. We've called another company to replace hose bib line so we can have a garden backyard hose! They charged $425.00 to just run tests and we paid an additional $200.00 for the hose bib valve. We felt alot of stress, pressure and we trusted in the company.

12/27/22... Today we had Steve and Tim come check out the water issue in our bedroom. Our house is on a slab no basement. They ran numerous test, cut a hole in our bdrm wall there was no water leaking, they installed a valve in the utility closet for the hose bib which indicated a leak. It was not able to be tested after the installation per Steve and their paperwork because of weather. Of course their warranty is only good for 30 days from the time of repair. Very costly and I'm very disappointed!!!!!!

02/09/23 Richard and Joe fixed our leak today. They were great! Very knowledgeable and worked steadily. They did a great job with clean up too!!

I thought I had a slab leak that had caused a severe amount of flooring damage. Chuck and Tyler came out and within 1 hour found that my wet flooring was caused by a leaky sink vent line that was catching AC condensation from my attic. Would have never guessed the water damage to my floor was coming from my attic. $490 WELL SPENT!

Scott was very personable and helped get out above ground pool’s leak detected and repaired same day.

Chuck and Tim performed a smoke test to determine where the sewer smell was coming from within my house. Leak was found. Crew provided detailed report for my plumber to repair/fix. They were great. They answered all questions and provided pictures as well. I would definitely recommend and hire again if necessary.

So grateful! A flooring company came out to take measurements in the bathroom and found moisture under the vinyl floor. I call ALD, was scheduled for next week but received same day service due to a cancelation. Very knowledgeable tech quickly located the source and advised on repairs. While there, they ran a camera down a downspout to see where it drained, advised on routing another downspout, and gave other useful tips. They even repaired a leaky pipe in the basement, an unrelated issue, since my handyman was dragging his heels. A+! Having them out put my mind to ease, and I felt that I was in good hands the whole time. Thanks again for your help!

Quick response to a leak detection on an outside fire line. Steve from ALD was professional and located the leak in short order.

Rude technician and staff at their office. They requested to block off area on city public street parking less than 24 hours before work and for me to place cones and tape in area to prevent cars from blocking. This is public parking and cars were already parked there, so could not block the area. The technician called and said they would not be able to do work without cars being moved and was very rude and short. I called the office and they reiterated what the technician said and also were rude. Unacceptable and poor customer service. This is a flaw in how they handle work around public parking area and should be fixed. The plumbing work they did seems good and what was needed but a very painful process dealing with them to get it complete.

The servicemen looked for and found a leak in a complicated plumbing system to a house, out-building, and a barn. They were thorough and professional. I would use them again if needed.

This is the second time I have used this company. Today they were not only on time but so efficient, in and out of the unit, the swept and mopped. Will definitely use again.

ALD of Columbus was absolutely wonderful to work with on our pool. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. Their customer service went above and beyond to make our experience great. From start to finish our pool liner/pool cover purchase and install was seamless (haha). I give the highest recommendation to ALD and we will encourage friends, family and neighbors to use them in the future.

Water bill showed quadruple usage vs last month. Thought I double checked meter read and ruled out misread. Had guys out for leak detection, none found, so they offered to look at bill. Made me recheck and realized my math was off. Glad they suggested looking at bill instead of taking more time!

We had a water line leak that had frustrated another plumbing company for over 2 months. American Leak Detection was able to locate the leak within an hour and came back to do the repair. Our in ground swimming pool had a crack in one of the steps , the steps were not supported underneath.
Chuck and Joe did a great job of drilling few holes and filling the cavity with a filler which reinforced the steps and they are now solid.

The leak detection was spot on which made the cutting of the concrete slab to be a small area and enabled the workers to get the job done quickly. And they left the work area clean after everything was complete. I do recommend American Leak Detectors even though the cost is pretty high. You get what you pay for.

We had American Leak come to our home to detect the source of a slab leak when no other plumbers we would typically use had the right technology to do so. The charge was $425 for detection. During our appointment, they found a leak and gave us some basic information. They didn’t mark the specific location, which would have been helpful apparently (the plumbers who later came and quoted us the job all asked if it had been marked and were confused when we said no). But they did give us a basic location (under the sink, under the concrete) and told us it’s the cold water pipe. At the end, one tech said they needed the other’s assistance with a valve. The other assisted and said they broke it. They asked where the nearest hardware store was, and left to buy a new part. They came back, installed this part, told me I’d have a quote soon and left. That night, my garbage disposal sounded weird but I shrugged it off (there was nothing in it that I could feel) and left it alone, as my husband always is the best person to fix those kinds of things. The next day, which was a Friday, I opened the cabinet under my sink to find water everywhere. I had a trusted plumber come out and fix it up for us, free of charge. The pipe leading to my garbage disposal had been left hanging open/disconnected. There was no issue with this prior to or when the techs came (they took photos and there is no water anywhere in their photos) and they were the only ones who touched it in that period of time, so while I can’t prove they are to blame, it seems extremely unlikely that this came open on its own, by no fault of theirs. When life settled down (I am home with two children under two- it’s hectic), and my husband got home Friday, I called American Leak and left a message (apparently they close at 5 and I called at 5:05). I asked for a manager to call me back. Today, a manager called back and seemed defensive and annoyed with me. She asked why I hadn’t called them to fix the issue. I didn’t call them because I left the job to someone who I knew was competent. She argued that her techs are extremely competent (but would an extremely competent tech leave this hanging open….? I mean, would they?) I explained to the manager that I didn’t want any kind of refund, that I was just making her aware that this happened, and I was upset. Her attitude lightened after I said this, and she wasn’t so snippy with me. Because of this happening, we decided to go elsewhere for the slab leak repair, so it’s probably for the best that it happened, and isn’t the end of the world. I wanted to take the time to review because it was careless and frustrating, and if you’re like me and you really do your homework, it’s helpful to know.

As a side note, we did see other negative reviews about this company prior to using them but after calling more than half a dozen places, they were the only ones we could find who could detect a slab leak. I have since gotten the name of a different company so if we need this service again, I know I have options.

Very happy initially. For $542 they came out and pressure tested everything, scanned the pool, found two spots that were leaking (one was a hole in the liner, the other was a very slow leak in a light fixture), patched the two spots, then scanned the pool again to verify the patches stopped the leak. Was very happy with the work, and the techs seemed friendly and professional. Water levels held solid for two weeks, and then it started dropping again. Called and was told that there was no guarantee on the vinyl patches - they were temporary only. They also told me the only way to truly fix the vinyl liner was to replace the entire liner. Which is brand new this year...

Funny enough, though, they sent me a quote to fix the light. I told the woman on the phone that the light, while it might still be leaking, was a very, very slow leak and I wasn't really worried about that one. She refused to even bother discussing the vinyl liner patch, just kept telling me it was a temporary fix. The funny part is that the quote to fix the light was to pull the light out completely and - you guessed it - put a vinyl patch over the hole. They would guarantee that patch for two years. For $600.

No thanks. I called another local leak detection company who came out and repaired their faulty vinyl patch for half the cost. They also scanned and re-scanned the pool, and they gave me a 90 day warranty.

Edit regarding their response:

There was never any offer to check the other patch when you quoted the light. There was no conversation about the other patch at all - I was just told there was no guarantee and that they were just temporary. But again, your proposal to fix the light was to put a vinyl patch on the hole when you remove the light. How can you guarantee that patch, but you won't even make an attempt to repair a patch that you placed not even two weeks prior?

Marquita was very pleasant on the phone, and very helpful. I don't know if this is you responding, Marquita, but you were not the person I spoke with when I called in about the patch leaking. She was not helpful at all. Either way, I've found a different company that I will be using for these needs going forward.

I was very happy to have American Leak Detection company help me to locate the exact location of a hot water line leakage, which enable the work to be carried out at the least damaging location in the house. From the beginning to the end of the job it was done with good communications, professional leak detection together with a very good team of technicians, the job was done professionally and efficiently. Many thanks to Steve West, Steve Wolf. It was a great team of technicians (Richard, Tim, Joe G and Joe C) with good quality of work. It definitely deserves a 5 Stars. I have no hesitation of recommending their services to all my friends.

My company built a multi family building which presented a leak which no other company was able to find. American leak detection came in and located the leak in a very strategic fashion without any damage to the structure. It was captivating to watch them work. It was very methodical and they explained why they were doing what they were doing every step of the way. I just wish we had called them earlier before we cut drywall and removed flooring to try to find the leak our self. I would absolutely call them first in the future. Totally astounded at the level of knowledge and skills of Paul and his crew. They came right in and got to work immediately and never paused. They never stood around wondering what to do. Correction; They never gave me an estimate for detection services, invoiced me for 3x the competition. The leak was not found by these professionals, the leak was found by a city employee after ALD's technician allowed water to be turned back on. But don't worry, ALD tried to charge me again to come back out.

Look elsewhere.

Prompt diagnosis, no BS. Got the repair scheduled and completed quickly and the area repaired looks great. Everything that was touched, looks exactly how it was when we left it, or better. Very reliable and trustworthy. Absolutely recommend!

The techs, Steve & Scott came to my home on Aug 4 as part of an insurance claim. The source of a leak in my laundry room was quickly detected. Steve was very efficient and thorough. Needless to say, no more leak. I waited several days just to make sure. I anticipated a big mess with much damage to may walls. Surprisingly they only cut out a couple small areas in the drywall. What I appreciated most is that Steve completely answered every question to my satisfaction. The receptionist I spoke with on the phone was professional and worked within my schedule. Hope I never need them again, but if I do this is the company I will call.

Steve was a real pro, determined to find and fix our problem and he did.

We called American Leak Detection after a Google search. We were impressed with the reviews and general comments. We had a leak in a half bath wall that I was unable to find. We called them at 8am and their technician was able to come the same day. After some high tech searching with an IR camera and compressed air, he found a small crack in a pvc supply line. He repaired the leak and was gone in under two hours. He gave us instructions on how long to wait before we have the drywall and flooring fixed. We’re very pleased with the experience with ALD. The guys at American Leak Detection were fantastic. Came to the appointment on time, thoroughly inspected our bathrooms for the sources of potential leaks, and walked me through everything they were seeing. Highly recommend to anyone experience or worried about leaks!

The Technicians (Cory & Tanner) arrived promptly for the appointment and came prepared to get the job done. They were professional, courteous, and respectful of my property. Oh! And did i mention efficient?! They were in & out in less than 1.5 hrs which included a run to a Home Depot. Upon completion of the leak repair they tidied up, went over the details of the repair in depth and showed pics they took of the completed job to submit to my Homeowners Insurance if I chose to file a claim for reimbursement. A1 service! Would highly recommend this company and will be a repeat customer if/when needed.

I would give zero stars if it were possible. First they came out in august to fix my pool leak, they said they found something and patched it. Then they wanted payment so we paid but they didn’t have anything to write a receipt but they said they’d mail it to me. They never did and then they tried to bill me again, luckily I had it on camera it being paid. Unfortunately my pool was still leaking so they had to come back out in October and when they tested they found no leak, so they charged me again. I closed my pool one day after and the pool is still leaking. I sent pictures that it has lost 4 inches in a week but I still owe them because they said the test results were good and they can’t be sure a leak formed after they left. Joke of a company that gets paid per attempt and not for doing a good job.

I am very pleased. They identified the leak and actually spent time trying to cut out an atypical shape in our stamped concrete. After filled it obviously looks altered, but was much better than I expected. Very satisfied and appreciate them taking the extra step.

Technician Steve Wolfe arrived on time and asked “how can I help you?” He assessed my concerns and then we agreed he would camera my drain to see if we could locate problems. He was thorough and careful about his work and shared the camera view and explained what he was finding as he progressed in the process. He was very pleasant. I would definitely call American Leak again if I needed services.

We have a well and have water coming in around the wall. We had a few different companies out who all offered various opinions but no real diagnostics. Our estimates were all over the place. We needed more answers and wanted to pinpoint where exactly this leak was occuring. ALD was able to give us details on what was going on, picture images inside the pipe that was cracked and able to mark the area where it is located outside. Our appointment was moved up and our technicians were very professional. They shared their knowledge, help provide us with our own knowledge to move forward on this. Unfortunately for us, they don't work on wells but we feel so much better having an idea of what's going on and what needs done.

They arrived right on time, was curious as to how they detect leaks in my above ground swimming pool (which is why I called them) they explained the process and was able to find the leaks that I was unable to find. The techs were really amazing. Our leak was not easy to pinpoint, under sidewalk, next to front door and tree roots although the actual water displayed about 30 ft away. They were able to find it close enough that a plumber was able to dig up sidewalk and fix the leak the next day. They also had to stay until late to find the leak. Thank you.

My condo had a rare leakage, without any physical sign of water damages inside and out of my condo. City water shut my water off due to the low pressure of my water service line. With about 200 foot long water line and don't know where is the leak makes me very frustrated, and the cost to replace the whole line is over $10000.
Called 4 companies for checking the leak, American Leak Detection is super professional and responsive. They detected the leak within 30 min and it was underneath my bathroom of the condo unit. ALD is also giving me the best bid for repair. I was warned by other companies that replacing the underground water service line could potential damage the sewer system, and only ALD explained in details about how they would approach and make me less worried. Finally ALD replaced the water service line underneath my condo unit without any damages. Hooray!

I didn’t know what to expect from ALD as I had not heard about them...we never had a need to. I do know who we will contact in the future, though. I am a small business owner and greatly appreciate when people are on time for an appointment, as my time is valuable. I left the office and was home for 2 minutes when Steve Wolf knocked on my door and completed his inspection within 40 minutes and I was back to my office well before I had expected. Steve was very professional, answered all my questions and confirmed our expectations of the fridge leak. He did what they do best ...quality inspection, punctual and professional...job well done and ALD will get all our referrals in the future!!??

ALD techs Paul and Cameron were great. They arrived early, worked constantly, and were able to fix simple thigs right away and described what a much more involved repair would entail later. They also practiced social distancing and wore masks where appropriate which was very important to us. We will consider them for other types of pool work in the future (like liner replacement, etc). We highly recommend them.

Discovered my Intex above ground pool had a leak in the liner. Called Marquita at ALD around 11am on 5/25/21. She sent over 2 technicians, Cam and Tory by 3pm the same day. They found the pin hole in the bottom of the liner within 15 minutes, patched it and were gone in a total of 25 minutes. Very professional, friendly, and willing to do whatever was needed to help fix my issue. Would highly recommend.

Great service and a highly professional company. Hopefully we won't have another leak but if we do I won't hesitate to call American Leak Detection again. The technician was super helpful and detailed in explaining exactly what he was doing, what he was finding, and how to fix the problem. Zero Stars, I've used this company 3 times and they've never hit their mark. On the latest service call, they were off by more than 50 ft. and were there for more than 8 hrs. And wanted to come back to try again. We paid the invoice 2 times, 1st check didn't make it in the mail, 2nd electronic. Even though their invoice states that if payment was made, please disregard. This company wouldn't drop the late fee. Horrible service for the price and even worse customer service.

7/10/19 Steve Wolf was a pleasure to work with. He allowed me to watch while he did his thing and explained what he was going each step of the way. Once the leak was detected, he thoroughly explained what the process would be to fix the leak. He went above and beyond by helping me set up a temporary return to the pool so we could run the filter and keep using it until the repairs were done two weeks out.
7/24/19 Cory and Cam came today and fixed the leak at our T joint in the return line to our pool. They worked nonstop and were very friendly to interact with. They kept me up to date with pictures of our leak and how they were going about fixing it. We are planning to have a new liner put in next spring, and the guys were very helpful in giving us options after they cleaned up from the leak repair. Would definitely use this company again!

It’s never a good thing when your pool has a leak. However, Steve from ALD came out and quickly put me at ease. He was super friendly and professional. Very knowledgeable of the equipment he was using and pool operations. Found my leak, offered a quote for repair, left me with info and suggestions for repair. Cameron came to investigate a potential pool leak. He patiently explained the process and kept me informed of his progress in detecting the leak. They were polite, efficient but thorough answering all my questions and addressing concerns. We now have a very clear plan of action in taking care of our bathroom issues where as we did not before they came.

Very disappointed in the service. Two technicians came out and said our leak was due to a pea trap in the bathroom that was cracked. We had the water shut off to that sink so it was no the issue. We told the technician that and he said that he can’t detect a leak until that was fixed. That bill was $450. The faucet wasn’t even operating to leak! We fixed the pipe and turned the water on and asked them to come back out...they said they would for another $200. Called another company who did put in a new water heater (which was the issue) for less than it was for the technician to wrongly detect the leak.

An all around good experience from the first phone call. The only issue was the wait time for the initial leak detection, but that’s not all bad as it says the company is good and reputable. We had our detection done on a Monday and it was fixed on Thursday around noon. I know that was thanks to Marquita in the office and Cory, the technician who did the repair. Cory (and helper, Tanner) arrived right on time and explained what they would be doing. My parents are elderly and both in wheelchairs and Cory was very kind to both of them. We left while the work was being done since they had to jackhammer up the cement and imagine our surprise when we returned a couple hours later and were told that they were close to being done, the water was back on, the pressure test was almost complete and we didn’t need to leave again. He said they would finish up and we could use water, flush toilets, and etc. About an hour later, they had everything cleaned up and packed in their truck. Thanks, Cory

We're so happy we were told about American Leak Detection of Columbus. The alternative to their service was to cut multiple holes in our drywall to locate the mystery leak. The plumber we called on Sunday wanted $185/hole if they cut to try and locate the leak and wanted to start in a completely different area of the house. I called American Leak Detection the next day. When I called, they kindly moved things around to work us in the following day. Chuck arrived on time and located the leak in less than 30 minutes and was able to make the repair for us. Should we ever need this type of service again, they will be our first and only call!

Wolf(Steve) and his partner come in to my house promptly to inspect the occupationally flooding problem in our basement, when there is rain storm or heavy rain for a few days. They used the camera to check our pipes underground and our sump pump, they were in my house for 3 hours. They confirmed that our sump pump was not working properly which still brought pumped water back to our house etc. They did a thorough inspection, we are happy with their finding and their detailed report.

Wolfie and his crew were able to come out to my house (twice) and identify the issue causing water to come into our fireplace. After having multiple different companies come out to check, they were able to test and actually find the issue causing the water to come in.

Our pool was losing almost 2 inches per day and we could not figure out where it was leaking. We called ALD and Steve was out the next day with electronics and sensors to pressure test all the plumbing and determine where water was exiting the pool. He even got into the pool and checked the main drain all the surfaces. The leak was found around an inlet and was fixed on the spot. No more water loss! Steve was very personable and showed me everything he was doing throughout the process. I highly recommend ALD as they solved our problem efficiently and effectively.

ALD went to great lengths to see that our pool piping leak was fixed properly. When our technician ran into unexpected problems, three other technicians came over to help as their individual work was completed. By the end of the day we had as many as four ALD trucks in our driveway. After another small leak was detected later, ALD care right back and fixed the additional problem at no additional cost. We had no other bids to compare to ALD, so I can't comment on value. They did take longer than expected to get to our job due to an unexpected employee shortage due to a serious injury to one of their technicians.

The company was very responsive and organized, sending appointment confirmation emails, notifying us of the technicians names, etc. We had 3 visits to locate & repair our pool leak and each time the technicians were on time, professional and very careful and neat in their workmanship. I certainly hope we never have another leak but would contact the company again if we do.

This is a difficult review to write because I really want to have positive things to say about my business interactions with American Leak Detection of Columbus. The people I spoke to over the phone and the representatives who came to my house to assess my pool were very professional, extremely polite, personable, and quite friendly. My initial impressions were all exceptionally positive and honestly I still think highly of those people. I should also preface that my experience was skewed by a torrent of personal tragedy and loss faced by the owner of this franchise establishment so it may not be entirely representative of what other people can expect. All that said, ultimately my experience with American Leak Detection of Columbus was quite poor.

I had them come out to assess some fairly major damage a pool cleaner had done to my pool. I knew going into it that I'd have to pay about $300 for them to come out, assess the damage and decide if it was work they'd be willing to take on. They were very up front about it and it was money I was willing to pay given the nature of the damage. Things at this point were still going well. Due to some disputes with the insurance company of the cleaner who damaged our pool it took me several weeks to reply to their estimate and sign it for them. From there they needed to a second more expensive assessment costing me just north of $500. For all intents and purposes it seemed pretty similar to that first assessment except they also tested our skimmer line which also needed to be repaired. At the time this was an investment in getting my pool fixed and I was happy to pay it. However after this visit was when we started having problems. I waited two weeks to hear back from them again before calling to see if they had come up with a plan to repair my pool. They told me they'd been kicking around a lot of ideas but hadn't come up with a plan they felt was best for my situation. The circumstances of my indoor pool are such that I felt this was reasonable and I hoped to hear from them soon. I called again a week later to see if they'd made progress and this time I was told the owner was suffering from tragedy compounded by loss right as the holiday season was approaching. I'm sympathetic to this, I'd certainly be in no shape to handle business decisions under such circumstances myself, but part of the reason I went with American Leak Detection and paid their slightly high assessment fees is because I knew they were a franchise of a larger business and I assumed that meant to some extent that the larger American Leak Detection entity would be responsible. To have everything rest on the shoulders of one man to the point that they're unable to conduct business is a major problem for an entity the size of American Leak Detection.

Because of the situation with the pool cleaner's insurance company I was forced to pressure them a little for an estimate, flat out telling them that if they couldn't provide me with something I could present the insurance company I'd have to go with someone else. So they submitted the most basic possible bid with a slew of caveats about how they couldn't guarantee the work, that it may not be successful should they attempt it, and some rather large mischaracterizations about the state of the damage to my pool. It seemed almost designed to drive away my business and ultimately I was forced to seek out another contractor which was an unexpectedly arduous process.

So I've paid upwards $800 to have them come out and look twice only to have them not do the work because they weren't capable of handing it. The whole affair has left a rather bad taste in my mouth and while circumstances may well have changed since my experience with them I'd certainly caution potential customers to think twice before engaging their services.

We had a liner installed in our pool by ALD. After one week, it started to float off bottom of pool and wrinkled. They came today and found a leak and patched it. We are still waiting to see what will have to be done to remove the water below the liner and reposition it in the pool. The technicians today were very professional and promptly found and repaired the leak, but were unable to tell us what the next step would be to restore the pool.

Update:
They came this week and removed water below liner and repositioned. We were able to swim in it today (September 1st). It seems to be well positioned and wrinkle free. While ALD has been fairly adamant that we somehow created the leak, the fit this time is skin tight. It was not that way after their first install; we had minor wrinkles and the floor was squishy from the outset. It is so well planted to the walls and floor now that we can see imperfections in the concrete and you can feel with your feet that the seams are thicker, where before there was no sensation at the seams. There does seem to be one area where there is something below the liner causing a bump, and with it fitting so tightly now, it worries me a bit whether it will result in a failure down the road. This is our first liner, so we do not know what is acceptable. I had ground the floor before the install, so I am pretty sure the bump is not part of the concrete. I plan to ask them about this next week. This pool is in our weekend home, so we are hoping all will still look good next weekend!

Our swimming pool developed a leak that we could not trace to the liner or exterior plumbing. I called American Leak Detection on a Monday, their technician Steve Wolf came on Thursday morning and performed a careful and thorough analysis that identified an underground leak in one of the return lines. Steve was friendly and professional, he cleaned up everything when he finished and we could not be more satisfied with experience.

The next day Cory and Jonathan came to fix the leak. This involved breaking through concrete and digging down until they found a cracked pipe. Cory sent photos of the work as it progressed and like Steve they did a careful and thorough job, replacing the broken pipe, filling in the hole and sealing this with fresh concrete. We received a detailed report when the job was done, and again we could not be happier with the quality of the work. If you have a leak, this is the company to go with!

Steve Wolf was out to do diagnostics on our large pool. He was professional, friendly and willing to walk us through the process. He didn't sugar-coat anything (which we appreciated), but gave us options to think about, as well as pro-tips for proper upkeep.

We purchased a home with an existing, older pool that has been a series of 'revolving repairs' over the years that I have been mostly able to diagnose and fix myself. When I can't figure out water-loss issues I immediately turn to American Leak Detection. Their expert technicians and state of the art equipment can efficiently track down any issue that may arise. We had a bizarre water issue we will never completely understand. We had a dozen people in, plumbers, house inspector, water remediation service, the original builder, etc. After years, I contacted ALD and they suggested an “experiment” we hadn’t tried before. Bingo, we finally know. So happy.

Leaks are terrible. Sometimes they show up, others they don't. Just when you think you have it solved it comes back worse than before.

I called them to come inspect a leaky roof that didn't leak all the time. They identified the source of the leak. Turns out there was some improperly installed flashing on our chimney chase. They recommended a siding/roofing company to come do the repair. It's been 3+ years with no leaks. They charged what I thought was kind of a lot but in the end the piece of mind knowing nothing was missed was worth it. Would hire again.

The tech arrived and went right to work. He answered all of my questions and seemed very knowledgeable about his work. He was able to find the problem and fix it in no time. If I have a similar problem in the future I would use ALD again.

We had a reputable well known company send a tech that appeared to be unknowledgeable. He was nice but he told us we were his last call and he didn't expect us and he sounded like he wanted to get home. As a result, (as as we suspected) the issue was not resolved. We called another company (also well known) they said they would bring in a camera and get to the bottom of it...they did not use a camera...instead they said they would give us a estimate to jack hammer and knock down different walls and go through the slab ect. American Leak Detection was recommended by my insurance co guy. I called these guys, they stayed , listened. They tested and BROUGHT A CAMERA figured out the issue. These guys are problem solvers and are honest. I highly recommend them, thank you Steve Wolvy and your partner for all your help.

Found I was losing 1-2 inches of water in my inground pool every day. Steve from American Leaks came today and was able to locate a TINY hole in the liner - the cause of the problem. Technician found leak quickly - waiting for report and repair quotes

Guy I spoke too seemed like he knew what he was doing and scheduled an appointment with me for Wed at 8:30am, I took off work and waited for him for the better part of an hour, no call-no show. I start to go online and look around (should have done it before), it's a pretty common thing for them to charge a lot of money, and do the absolute minimal work. Guess I'll go ahead and void the check I had written for them. Don't waste your money, and more importantly don't waste your time.

I had a leak that was intermittent and difficult to diagnose. Due to having old cast iron plumbing my regular plumber couldn't find the sewer smell. I called American Leak Detection of Columbus and Cam and Wolfie came out and within a few minutes we found the leak. Now I can have it fixed and can get rid of my odor.

BEWARE - VINYL LINER REPAIR - BEWARE

Before you consider calling American Leak Detection for a pool repair, I think it is fair that you know that this company will only guarantee their work for 48-hours. If they leave, and your pool is still losing water, you have 2 days to find out and report it.

What happens if they patch my liner and the patch comes loose on the third day? Too bad. You just spent $367.00 and have nothing to show for it.

When will they tell me about this policy? They will tell you after you've paid, not before you've paid. If fact, they won't even tell you in person. It will be in an invoice, that is emailed to you, and in an attached document, in the fine print.

What does this $367 cover? Not a whole lot. Their tech came over, looked into my pool, and patched a hole near the edge where my deck was, so that he didn't have to get in the water. He said it was a simple fix and that he could probably just charge me for a leak test (which they didn't). He told me that he ran a test, on a day with 20 mph winds and strong gusts, and that my pool was no longer leaking. (I did not get to see these test results.) I asked him if he checked for any other leaks - I was told no. I asked if he was going to dive into the pool, and check the perimeter, the seams, the skimmer seal. I was told he was not. He told me he guaranteed his work. He told me to watch it for a few days, make sure that it wasn't leaking, and to give them a call if I had any problems.

I immediately marked the water level in the pool, and filled a bucket of water to compare. The water level dropped over half an inch the first day. I marked it again the next day. After a few days, and a couple of days with rain, I checked and I had still lost 3 inches. My bucket had lost 1/4 - I called first thing Monday morning. My pool was still leaking.

I was IMMEDIATELY told that they would not do a single thing. They referred me to their policy - 48 hours - and that if the patch doesn't hold they would have to come back out. I was told that they would only come back out for another $367.00 - they will do NOTHING after 48-hours.

I however, can GUARANTEE that I will not be calling this company again.
