My name is Kim and Over the years I have had several AC companies look at my air conditioning unit and fill it with Freon or tell me that the Freon SR22 would no longer be available and the ONLY option was to replace the unit. I had someone refill the Freon in 2020 and they said that I had a small leak and the coil pans were rusted. I had two separate technicians, this month that added more Freon and told me that the pans were rusty and that I apparently had a big leak in the coil’s… when 1st Choice Mechanical was recommended to me by my son-in-law, Tim came out and did a full assessment and provided a video and pictures of what it looked like in my attic. He explained every option possible for me to repair or replace my air conditioning unit and at the time my home was 88° and had been that way for about a week. Tim suggested replacing the unit, repairing the unit, financing the cost, and several other options. I chose to finance the replacement of the coils where the leak was. The pricing was extremely reasonable. I had no idea that the pans were rusted to this extent. It looked absolutely disgusting and I am so disappointed that no one ever explained the extent of the damage that had taken place in my attic. Tim and Brandon arrived early in the morning and went to work. They checked in with me throughout the entire process. They shop vac’d my carpet and stairs, they wore foot coverings, they were so kind and professional. OMG! This company is amazing and should be on CNN HEROES… I felt so blessed to have them do the repair and I am so thankful to my son in law for the referral. Do not waste your time calling any other company because I can guarantee you that no one is as good or professional, friendly, expedient or experienced as 1st Choice Mechanical

We were very happy with the very quick response to have our heater fixed. The current model we had was 10 years old and we decided to replace and upgrade. Brandon L and Justin M were extremely professional, efficient and guaranteed we had all questions answered. It’s always a surprise having to spend additional money without notice however we know we made the right choice and with the right company. We are happy to have an upgraded AC/HEAT UNIT and glad to have good guys to call for any trouble we may have. Thank you!
James showed up quickly and was knowledgeable and friendly. He informed me of the price for diagnostics before starting and found the issue quickly once he inspected the HVAC. He let me know the price for the repairs and made sure I was comfortable with it before starting. He then repaired the issue and got everything working. I was impressed with the work and had him perform the biannual maintenance on my HVAC as well. I am very happy with the service and have signed up for there monthly maintenance plan.

The tech was INCREDIBLY helpful and informative!!!! They saved me $1200.00! Not only did he explain what they (as techs) were seeing with the cold temps out here but educated me in such a professional and engaging way! After speaking with him about the unit, it sounds like they get tons of continuous training! We had another company come in before them. Larson (the other company) charged $120 service fee (1st choice was less than half). Then the Larson tech told us we needed to do 1 of 2 unnecessary and very expensive services…
1st Choice didn’t try to push anything unnecessary on me and when he didn’t find anything that needed service, he said so.
I am a female and was home alone. The tech James did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable with him in the house. He waiting to be invited any further into the house and to be shown the unit.

Brandon and Justin were here for duct cleaning today and did a thorough job while explaining everything they did along the way. Couldn't be happier with their work and the professionalism they exhibited. The most outstanding professionals I've ever met. We worked with Justin, Jared, and Branden for an HVAC system for my relative Adriana. First off, safety and cleanliness was top priority. They placed paper mats down through the house, wore shoe covers, and cleaned up immediately after small messes. The care they took on our home was so respectful and deeply appreciated. They were well-mannered and spoke softly and compassionately to everyone in the household. Our pesky dogs barking in the closed room didn't deter them nor jade their attitude. They made small talk and built rapport with us. When the job was done, they went above and beyond to explain every last detail so we would be fully knowledgeable about the work that was done. If I could do more than 5 stars, I honestly would.

The people at 1st Choice Mechanical are awesome. Jared, Justin, Marquis, and Brandon were great to work with. I had a new AC unit installed and the guys worked until it was done, even returning after dark to install a different Thermostat. The business department assisted in financing options and Tori was exceptional with customer service. As a single woman, it's important to me to be able to trust and believe in repair people when I need them. 1st Choice Mechanical is definitely the best! 100% satisfied.

This is a local family owned and operated business, and I am glad to be the one to tell you: you've found the last HVAC company you'll need as long as you live in the valley. I have been so impressed with the professionalism, communication, and the expertise Tim and his family bring to the table. They're honest and care about doing quality work. They have a good reputation and work hard to maintain it by carefully choosing who they add to their team as they grow.
Tim and company installed a new HVAC system for us a few years ago, a variable speed top of the line Trane system that has worked like a dream. Recently they have been helping with our secondary system, installed by a different company. I'm always impressed at how knowledgeable they are about HVAC, and how they can explain in terms I can understand, so I can make informed decisions about how to proceed.
I've had *many* bad experiences with other Phoenix-area HVAC companies, so if that's you - just trust the reviews, these guys will take care of you. Everything I've learned about HVAC installs has been from ones that have gone bad due to bad installers (other companies), so you have to be able to trust the company that does your install... it's a huge investment. Give 1st Choice Mechanical a try, you won't regret it!

His was one of several bids for the job, and while we went with one that was cheaper, we found James very helpful—he was happy to explain the entire situation to us and not at all high pressure. We would have him come out again.
Alex came and took care of business!! He was fast af, quickly identified the problem and resolved the issue with what has to be a decades worth of experience. Excellent service. Excellent quality. Very detail oriented. From the first estimate, Jared Moore was very detailed, professional, and knowledgeable. He was honest and didn’t try to upsale me on stuff I didn’t need. He was thorough in explaining services and products offered. Branden, Marquise, Brody and Justin were the install crew. They were also detailed and thorough. They worked hard the whole time and they communicated as a team efficiently. They knew the product they were installing and communicated every step as they were working. Branden and Marquise were very kind, well spoken and personable. Branden and Jared even laughed at some of my terrible jokes. They reassured that the warranty will be take care of. All I have to do is enjoy my new HVAC systems. Whenever I had a question Tori answered and was super helpful and patient. What sold me on 1st choice was the attention detail. As well as the quality checks. After doing much research online I discovered that the install is the upmost important aspect in HVAC that will determine your units lifespan. Jared explained to me that every step MUST be documented with photos. From nitrogen purging to vacuum lines to soldering and everything in between. And at the end of a job they have to submit this documentation to their boss that will then have to review everything then sign off on the job. If the boss isn’t satisfied they have to fix it. This level a quality checks I have not seen in a very long time. This is rare and ultimately the very thing that sold me. Clearly there’s a level of concern for quality in the business. Not even the larger companies could reassure me the quality checks that 1st choice did. I supposed if the technicians do the job right the first time, there’s less of a chance of getting called back out to fix something. I hope I don’t have to call anybody out for quite a while. However, if I do need to I now have a go to HVAC contractor. 1st Choice Mechanical should be everybody’s first choice. I forgot to mention the hotel guarantee!!! If during the warranty period the equipment breaks and 1st choice is unable to fix it within 24 hours. You can go to any hotel if your choice and 1st choice will pay for it. I would rather not have to deal with items breaking however, that’s a very comforting guarantee should anything unexpected happen. Especially in the AZ heat!

They were incredibly fast and able to replace our broken HVAC system in between our guests’ stays. They were great at communicating with us quickly and with care. Their warranty is also excellent. James was on time for the scheduled appointment. Explained to me about what he would be checking for and showed me on my AC unit. Went to the attic (crawl space) and explained to me about the unit up there and about the drainage system. He did not rush and answered any questions I had.

Great company and great techs. Only thing to provide even more exceptional customer service would of been a portable unit to keep cool while installation was being performed. It can get very hot as they do a 8hr installation with no AC. Would of also been nice if they provided a filter after installation. Jared came out and gave my a/c system a tune-up. He was very friendly, professional and was here on time. At one point he found a part that needed replacing, drove back to get another part, and didn't charge me extra. I can highly recommend this company.

Initially they came out when I called and asked for a diagnostic done on a unit that wasn’t working. Jimmy came out made a quick assessment went through the options with me in regards to replacement of broken part or replacement of entire unit very transparent with all costs. There was absolutely no pressure my wife and I decided to replace the unit and two days later we’re sitting in an icebox. This company is a real deal I would recommend them to anybody who needs service or a replacement done on the air-conditioning. The install team was timely and very thorough with all aspects of installation and coordination of crane timing, and removal of old unit. Hats off

Our experience with 1st Choice Mechanical was all around exceptional! Our AC unit went out mid-summer, just a few months after we purchased our home. I called 1st Choice Mechanical first because of how highly they were rated and despite it being a Sunday morning, they called me back within 20 minutes and were out at my house within a couple hours. They spent a lot of time trying everything they could to get our unit fixed, but ultimately we needed a new unit. They were able to get one for us quickly and got it installed for a reasonable price. Tim and Branden were incredibly kind, respectful, and professional throughout the entire process, making sure to provide frequent updates and doing what they could to keep us as cool as possible given the circumstances. All of this was just a few weeks before my daughter's first birthday, and they even sent her a birthday gift!
Today, about two months after they replaced our unit, our breaker that controls our AC unit went out (no fault of theirs, it was just old). I called and they were out at my house within about an hour and had it fixed in no time at an affordable price! This is a great family owned and operated company and I would highly recommend them to anyone!
James, the 1st Choice Mechanical tech, came to our house to see exactly what our needs were and to see our home. He did not try to sell me as he wanted to send us a complete analysis that would best serve our needs from a technical and financial point of view. He represented himself and 1st Choice well.

Our install crew was phenomenal. They were extremely professional. They laid down blankets everywhere they would be walking throughout the house. They cleaned up well after taking down both of our systems. The crew lead was very knowledgeable and answered every question I had to the best of his ability and I asked a lot of questions (just my personality). He didn’t get irritated at all. The whole install didn’t take very long for getting two systems in. Everything seemed professionally installed to the highest of standards. The owner of the company even comes and does a quality check of the whole installation after everything is done to make sure all questions are answered and everything is exactly perfect.
This company was great. Their price was competitive with everyone else’s price, even company’s who were quoting day and night (off-brand hvac). We got one of the best prices, Trane 16seer HVAC equipment and a great team that helped us throughout every step of the process. I got 10 quotes for our HVAC to get replaced and I am SUPER happy that I chose this company. I HIGHLY recommend Tim (owner) and his great crew!

Heater would not light. He determined that the settings on my new wifi thermostat were wrong. Fixed that and waited for it to run.
I did lot’s of research looking for a company to replace my A/C system and decided on 1st Choice Mechanical. Torri set me up with an appointment and they came out the same day! Michael did a great job explaining why my old system needed replacement and gave me a very fair price for a new system that could be installed the next day! Brandon and Corey came out the next day and did a great job installing the new system and explaining how to operate the new system and thermostat. Look no further for an honest and fair HVAC company.

Our AC in our new home started short cycling in the middle of a heat wave, and our home warranty company was unable to find anyone to come until 4-5 days later. We have a newborn baby at home, so it was imperative that we got it fixed immediately.
So I was on my own to find someone. Luckily 1st choice got right back to me in less than an hour and were here the next day. Tim and Brandon showed up ready to rock and roll and figured it out very quickly. After both AC's started blowing cold, Tim was adamant to come back the following day to check everything out and make sure all was well. These guys were so personable and solid, I wish every company operated the way they do.
I was even more impressed when I got the bill. I was shocked at how affordable they were as they could have easily charged me anything at that point to get my house cool again.
I can't say enough good things about Tim and 1st Choice. They work hard, and are just plain nice people who won't take advantage of you. My family and I are so grateful for getting us taken care of on such short notice.

Amazing service. They came over next day after an evening call that my air conditioning stopped working. Quickly assessed the issue and fixed my AC within an hour. These guys were super friendly and efficient. Best part was they didn't over charge and even offered troubleshooting and maintenance advice.

Was first referred through home warranty. Nice guys and very informative with what our issues were with the ac. Ended up getting an new ac and they did a great job. No longer had the home warranty but needed service and called them back just from how pleasant it was to work with them through our ac problems. Thanks guys you will always be my FIRST CHOICE ?!!
Mike is extremely knowledgeable, professional and honest. We talked through the high temp condenser fan motor issues saying we most likely would make it through another summer with a leaky motor. We already made it through two summers after Mike recommended in 2019 we wait to replace the motor. With the HOT summer ahead I decided it was time to replace the motor at a fair price. Most companies I have worked with in past would have tried to fix everything or even worse try to sell me a new AC unit. Excellent, trustworthy service and I highly recommend 1st Choice Mechanical!

I found 1st Choice Mechanical on Yelp due to their great reviews. I was completely down and out after previously being scammed by a horrible company and happened upon 1st Choice. I spoke with Tori and she was so kind and caring and let me blab and cry about the horrible situation I was in. She said she would try and call her father Michael and asked if he would come on Saturday, a day they are normally closed. Immediately she called back and said he would be there. Michael showed up promptly and was so friendly and knowledgeable. I felt at ease and confident in his skill set. He was done within an hour. Having just moved here and being a first time home owner, I knew nothing. Now I know a great family owned company who I will go back with time and time again.
Brandon was very thorough and took his time explaining everything to me. He even shared pictures and videos of things that could be potentially hazardous if I don’t get repaired. I appreciated all of his time and knowledge.I will be using this company again!
I can’t say that I’ve ever worked with a more kind, honest and hardworking company. We filed a claim through Fidelity for our AC when it stopped working. Unfortunately, this happened during COVID, and everything is in shortage status or delayed. Tim worked with Fidelity to get us expedited on the process. Tori did an amazing job at keeping us updated throughout the waiting period. Mike (owner) called us to check in on things as well. I truly believe that we would still be forced out of living in our home if this company wasn’t involved in the process. They originally replaced a compressor for us, and then we found out that the coil and condenser needed replaced as well (1997 unit). They got the order into Fidelity, and then came back and replaced the entire unit. The amount of hours and attention they put into this project were amazing. Every person we dealt with was top notch, and we would absolutely recommend using them in the future. Thank you for saving our sanity and getting us back to comfort!

This company did an amazing thing for myself and my family. Our AC went out about a week before we were to have our daughter's 1st birthday party at our home. With 50+ people planned to be there, we were in a huge rush to get this fixed. Through our Home Warranty, the first two companies couldn't come out to diagnose the issue for almost a week and I was lucky to get 1st Choice Mechanical as my 3rd contractor. Mike (owner/operator) called me within the hour (after normal work hours) and came the very next morning. He was able to diagnose the issue, which turned out that then entire unit was bad and danger for leak in the attic. He was able to show pictures of the evidence of these issues to prove he was not just trying to make a sale. Him and his son were able to get the entire outside and in the attic unit installed and working by the day before the party. It's usually an unsure feeling when dealing with AC companies, but Mike really made me feel comfortable with his honesty and work ethic. This company will remain my go-to for AC issues (and other mechanical issues as well) and I will recommend them to all family and friends! Thank you for allowing us to have a nice cool home in time for the party!!!

When the compressor in our air conditioner failed, Mike worked hard with our home warranty company to ensure we were properly cared for. As soon as the parts were ordered, and work was authorized, Mike and Tim were at our home pulling out the old unit, just in time for the new unit to arrive. They plowed through the whole replacement of the split system in a single visit, getting it done in around 8 hours, in the middle of summer (I have no idea how they are able to stand the heat!). A huge thank you to Mike and Tim, for doing high quality work so quickly! Our family is enjoying the new A/C system.
Best company! Quality, value responsiveness and punctuality are tops! But they shine with professionalism. Had a new A/C unit put in, it is fabulous. Had a problem syncing WiFi thermostat. The problem was with my router. They worked with me to fix it. I have recommended 1st Choice to a friend who has since had a new unit installed by them and is thrilled. AND while they were at my house a neighbor came over to inquire about their company.

I had several big name AC companies come to my house and seriously up charge the cost of parts. Chas Roberts wanted $1000 for parts I was able to get for $206. I tried 1st Choice Mechanical based on a friend’s referral. What a difference in service. Mike Rhoades and his son Tim came to my house. They were very friendly, honest and personable, they fixed my issues for a very fair price without trying to sell me new units or anything else I didn’t need. It is Saturday... the start of Labor Day weekend.... and the AC goes out. Just my luck! I immediately called my home warranty company and advised them that it was 115° in Arizona and I needed to make sure my 14-month-old son keeps cool. Wow! This family business is AMAZING. They were sent to me through Fidelity's National Home Warranty program. I had a one-off anomaly issue where my thermostat was not talking to my home security system. Others were stumped by this and couldn't figure it out. First Choice Mechanical was assigned to me through my home warranty company. They arrived within two days of my warranty request to diagnose my AC unit. Mike the owner was professional and courteous but unfortunately he had to deliver the bad news and tell me I needed a new AC unit which wasn't covered under warranty (The previous owner's dogs urinated on the AC unit and corroded the lines). I requested a quote from Mike and also brought in a couple other technicians who all confirmed what Mike had originally told me. Mike not only beat the prices of the other technicians but he went out of his way to answer all my questions and help me select the best unit for my home. Mike was very knowledgeable and I had no doubts with selecting his company. Mike and his son completed the install of my new AC unit in a timely manner and I couldn't be happier. If your looking for a honest, professional, local company I would recommend First Choice Mechanical without hesitation.
My tenant called and said there AC went out. So I contacted Old Republic Warranty and turned in a priority claim since its 115 degrees in Surprise,AZ. This was the beginning of being introduced to Mike from 1st Choice Mechanical. Mike went above and beyond the call of duty to correct our problem. He reached out and made himself available that day. He discover that the compressor was bad. Now this is where things got interesting. The warranty company normally orders the parts which takes 8 to 10 days but because of Mike they allowed him to purchase the parts and fix it right away.
Hats off to both Mike and Old Republic. They worked together to fine the best solution. I highly recommend both for outstanding customer satisfaction.

My fridge/freezer was not cooling, the temp kept going up and up. I was set up with 1st Choice Mechanical through my home warranty company, and actually they weren’t the original company I had been set up with. The original company couldn’t come until MONDAY! So a full week until they could come out! That’s a horrible turn around especially when it’s a fridge issue. 1st Choice was professional, fast and fixed our fridge! Very happy with the service.

Brandon, my Master Service Technician was Amazing! Brandon explained the inspection he was doing though the course of the tune up. When Brandon was done with the repairs, I couldn’t even tell he was in out attic through the closet! No insulation, no dirt marks, Nothing! Amazing!!! When my ac went out in the middle of the night, in the middle of July, 1st Choice Mechanical was able to fit me into their schedule the very next day, even though they were already slammed with many other jobs! Everyone I talked to at 1st Choice was incredibly friendly! The technician was a true professional and was very respectful of the property! He diagnosed the problem and quickly fixed it. Our air conditioner went out yesterday. Called our home warranty and they sent 1st choice mechanical out. Mike said they would be available between 10-2 to arrive. 1120am was the ETA. Mike showed up on time, explained what system I have just by looking up at roof. Informed me he was going to start by checking the breaker box for loose wires and then check system. Mike found the issue with the AC and by 1215 I have air again. I will recommend to everyone I know to use this company

Mike the tech arrived with incomplete safety protection.
He never gave me a clear diagnostic. This is through home warranty, Mike left without fixing my a/c he said he was making a report right away, when I called home warranty company 3 hours later they had no report.
I am sitting in a home with over 100 degrees outside.
Mike came over the same day we needed him and got us back up and running in 30 minutes. He didn’t waste any time and I would absolutely recommend him to my friends and family

Best HVAC company in town!! Tim and Jarred installed a Halo Led air purifier in my system. These guy did a great job. On time, high level of knowledge, Covid complaint.
Tim and Jarred took the time to fully explain the installed product.
They also explained there other service.
I will now use them as my only HVAC maintenance service company
[Service, Timeliness, Technician, Price] Mike was awesome he saved the day. Our son’s golden birthday was today 13 on the 13th and our air conditioner went out. He made it out first thing this morning and he had our air blowing cold in 10 minutes. Thank you soo much! Our son’s smile was the best thing to see. So thankful and relieved!! I can’t thank him enough for saving the day!!! .
My service was done in a timely and professional manner. Their notification system kept me on top of when my service would be. Mike works very hard and is very knowledgeable.

Initially got called out for problems going on with the thermostat. Turns out it was a small connection it wasn’t touching and a mounting problem. So simple, should anything arise again I want these folks to come out. Everything was awesome
The guys did a beautiful and thorough installation of complete Heating/AC system. I recommend highly.

1st Choice should have been my first choice, but started w/the company that installed unit less than 1 yr. ago when I got up this A.M. to a 77 degree house. After 5 “no can do’s till tomorrow, 1st Choice came to the rescue! Tori, who took call was very friendly, & James was also. He was very thorough, found the problem, gave us the price, and got it up & running. He explained everything & took pictures of the Freon leaking out of hole in pipe. Definitely service w/a friendly attitude. Makes the pricey tab less painful. The service call was less than what everyone else was charging & was credited to final tab. Definitely recommend!

James originally seemed honest and knowledgeable regarding HVAC. The complaint was the 3yr old AC wasn’t blowing as cold as last year. We were told the Schroeder valves x2 were bad and needed 2lbs of Freon with a quote of $508. Once the repair was done, James came off the roof to tell me there was “bigger problems”- the evaporative coil was leaking in more than 20 places. The repair quote was $2500 for labor only (4-5 hours). Who charges $500 an hour for labor!? Oddly, the AC was serviced 26 Jan with no issues. I was beyond shocked.. As James insisted this was a very serious problem.
After having another service come to provide another quote, I was told, there was no leak detected and could have been from the Schroeder valves or a non-honest technician spraying oil on the coils- since the pattern was unusual and “too clean” (no dirt or dust on the oil). Honest HVAC people are very hard to find- unfortunately, this company is not one of them.

I have been using 1st Choice for over a year now to stay on top of regular wear and tear of our A/C and heating units. When we first moved in, they also came and cleaned out all the vents because it looked like they hadn’t been cleaned once in 20 years from the previous owner.
Every employee I have encountered has been professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Specifically, Jared, who has come out the past 2 times, is a top tier employee!
