Air Force One Plumbing Heating & Air, now part of A-Star Air Conditioning & Plumbng

Scam! My parents contacted this company to fix their air conditioner that went out during the winter storms in Texas. The receptionist was very rude. When my father reported her they sent a technician out anyway from this same company because there wasn’t any other company available through their homeowner association to come in a timely manner. When the tech came my parents were told they would need a 12,000 brand new ac. When they contacted a family friend repair man to check his findings, he saw that their wires had been cut. He was able to fix the wires for 150$. Don’t trust this company.

This is a mixed review. On the one hand, ownership of Air Force One was responsive when one of their techs mishandled the AC system in my attic causing a ceiling to flood. I hired Air Force One to perform a deep cleaning and coolant check of my HVAC system in Fall 2021. The tech pointed out there was rust in the old overflow pan, but he did not check for leaks after he removed/reinstalled the original pan. I told him that I would make plans to replace the pan in the winter when it was cooler to work in the attic. The tech thought that was a good idea. Due to the way the tech handled the old drain pan, the pan leaked and flooded the ceiling of the bedroom directly below the unit in the attic. I was beyond angry and, in all honesty, expected a typical it's not our fault response from Air Force One.I was happy and impressed when the manager of Air Force One came to my house to inspect the damage and the leaking drain pan early the next morning. He apologized sincerely and promptly sent a repairman who replaced the ceiling and painted. The replacement ceiling seems to have been installed properly, but the paint had numerous spots where it did not properly cover the new ceiling. When I called the manager of Air Force One he came to my house, agreed with my assessment and sent the repairman back to fix the mistakes. Air Force One also replaced the overflow pan that their employee broke. Everyone makes a mistake from time to time so I was very satisfied with the way Air Force One handled the problems that they created.Until last week... My AC stopped working and the system shut down. I contacted Air Force One management via text message and did not receive a reply after waiting a day so I contacted another repairman. What the new repairman found is that Air Force One a) connected the cut-off float in the new drain pan incorrectly so it shut down the entire system (should have shut the AC down and left the fan running), b) they installed sheet metal screws at the rear of the new drain pain at the very bottom of the pan which was already leaking, c) connected the wires from the thermostat incorrectly on the attic AC unit, d) did not install the drain pipe from the rear of the overflow pan that they installed which stopped the water from draining and made it overflow again (thank goodness it did not destroy the ceiling this time - I guess the extreme heat in the attic evaporated the water before it could saturate the ceiling again) and e) reversed the wires on the outside compressor so the exhaust fan was blowing down into the compressor and condenser coil instead of blowing up/out of the unit. There were a couple more mistakes & oversights, but these are the highlights.Air Force One has many happy customers and that's why I called them in the first place. After my experience last week where I had to pay another company to replace the brand new drain pain, properly align the drain pipe so it actually drains and rewire the entire system - inside and out - I will not use Air Force One again. That's a shame because they are nice people.

Juan is an exceptionally knowledgeable, through, and outgoing tech. He arrived on time and was wearing a mask and stood several feet away from me. I liked that a lot. He took his time checking everything out, looking at an issue with the heat I thought was broken (door on heater ajar-easy fix) and doing all sorts of tests on a/c in back yard. He reported no issues and that every thing was in fine working order. He didn't try any kind of sales pitch like the previous tech that came to my house. That guy was so pushy (didn't wear a mask and talked to me while squatting down on the floor at my knee level and never making eye contact). Thanks to Juan I will continue to use Air Force One as I have for many, many years. After my last experience I was going to go with another company. AF1 has gone through too many changes and the last 2 or 3 techs really didn't impress me that much. I set this appointment because I had prepaid. I will request Juan again in 6 months. Air Force 1 should be happy to have Juan representing their company and working for them.I am glad to be able to post a positive feedback as opposed to the many complaints and negative posts I had in the past.

I could not be more thrilled with my experience with Airforce One. They have been serving my HVAC for over 10 years. This August I had to have AC replaced as it was a very old unit. They replaced it 2 days after it died and the process was simple and seamless. They left no trace of their presence in my house except for the new equipment. The payment process was simple and understandable and every employee was kind and respectful as well as professional. I highly recommend Airforce One for any of your HVAC or plumbing needs.

We requested a quote for replacing our toilets with comfort height and to replace the cut off valves for the toilet and all sinks. We received our quote the same day after the Javier came to review what was involved. He was on time and very knowledgeable and friendly. We will be accepting the bid to have the work done.

Javier was amazing! We had a new hot water heater replaced and hydro jetting of our outside drains. The water heater installation was standard, but our outside drains have been a problem for years. He really took the time to try and clear them out as much as possible, even though we think there was a problem with they way they were installed many years ago. He was polite, explained everything clearly and even sent me an email later with information about other questions we had. I highly recommend Javier and Air Force One!

Charged us $500 for a $100 base model thermostat. Still not working correctly and after years of serving our business have now told us we need to find a commercial repair company after rescheduling an appt two times. Sadly cannot recommend them.

Why did I not find out about this place sooner?Our water heater finally broke down and we ended up having to replace it. After calling around, I decided to give Air Force One Plumbing a try and was completed surprised by how amazing of a job they did. Our plumber was professional and completed the install quickly. Their prices are fair and I plan on calling them first next time!

Have a 3 1/2 year old system which is under warranty, which decided to stop cooling the Friday before Memorial day weekend. I bit the bullet and called them out Friday night, and paid the after hours fee. I was told that a TXV, which I guess acts like a filter for the Freon needed replacing, which I was told may not be able to be done until the following Thursday. The Tuesday after Memorial day, I called, and they squeezed me in that afternoon. That fix didn't work, but was not able to tell it wasn't working until Friday-Saturday, called again Monday, and again they had a technician out that afternoon, informed me that I needed a new compressor, which depending if it was in stock, they might be able to do the repair that week, or it might take up to 1-2 weeks it they needed to order the part. The part was in stock, and they were out this past Tuesday, and the system is working fine now. Air Force One was great in fitting me in during a busy time for them, just when it is starting to get hot, and everyone wants their air conditioning systems working NOW. I was initially frustrated that this new system wasn't working, but they were gracious with me, and still treated me nicely, although I probably didn't deserve that after some of the snarky remarks I wrote. Josh, one of their dispatchers was great in fitting me in to their busy schedule, and Javier and Collin, the technicians were fantastic. I would highly recommend Air Force One. Thanks for getting us cooled off.

We've used Air Force One for several items over the last few years and they've always done great work, everything from basic HVAC maintenance to a full furnace and ductwork replacement effort. They show up on time, give honest feedback about what is and isn't needed, and have always done a great job. Definitely recommended.

AF1 helped me with a clogged bathtub drain, installing new shower fixtures, installing new faucets for 3 sinks, and replacing toilet handles on my toilets. Estimates for each service were provided ahead of time, and before arrival, I would get a text with a photo of the technician and shared some personal details (e.g., name, education and personal hobbies.) The work I needed took 2-3 days, and the same technicians (Javier and Jeremy) were sent each time. They arrived promptly and explained everything in terms that I would understand. They were both professional and courteous (protected shoes before entering the house and wore face masks.) I have already requested some additional estimates from them for some future work.I also had recent cause to use AF1's HVAC services when my downstairs heater broke. Sam was able to quickly recognize the problem and correct the issue right away, and determined that the parts needed were under warranty by the manufacturer. I experienced the same level of service with Sam that I did with Javier and Jeremy. I will definitely be using AF1 for my future plumbing and HVAC needs.Overall Rating: ***** 5 Stars - Highly Recommended

Javier and Jeremy came out to diagnose my tankless water heater after the freeze. They were professional, on time, and so polite. Javier did a fantastic job of explaining the possibilities and setting expectations for what comes next. They have only done the initial diagnosis and haven’t repaired yet because of the delay in parts. But my experience so far has been terrific.

Dont use this company in a commercial setting, (unless you have some money to burn.) We had used this company for years in a commercial building. They recently changed hands to a new owner. They didnt come out to do our regularly scheduled quarterly maintenance. Then we moved to a new commercial building that we bought. The air conditioning unit that we were using for the office stopped cooling, so we called Air Force one to trouble shoot; Sam came out and told us that we could replace some parts; compressors, evaporator coils, etc, & said that the estimate would be $4-6K. We never got the estimate. After stating that they couldnt get the parts, Sam said that we could buy the parts, and they 'might' install them, and that LABOR ONLY would be $6-7K. Or we could buy a new unit for $14K and they could install it in 2 days. So I called my friend who runs a BIG HVAC company (they do Amazon warehouses all over the US). They pulled a service tech off of an Amazon job in north Ft Worth. He crawled up on the roof, and had our unit running in less than 1 hr. The only thing that was wrong was a bad capacitor (which is like a battery)... a $100 part. These crooks were trying to fleece us of $14,000 when all they needed to do was replace a $100 part. I spoke to the owner, Josh, who acted horrified. I dont know what more embarrassing for him- the fact that they were trying to push a new unit for $14K, or the fact that his service tech didnt know how to identify a faulty $100 capacitor. And he is running his business out of his house? Go with a real professional company who has their own place of business, and techs that know what they are doing.

Air Force One just installed a new Lennox HVAC which includes 1 year of their HVAC maintenance plan. We still recommend Air Force One! Colin is our usual technician for HVAC maintenance. All techs are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. All wore a mask. Office staff helpful and friendly. Annual maintenance program cost is fair. We've used Air Force One for about 6 years now based on a recommendation from a Plano friend and are very happy.

We put in a call at 9AM when our AC quit putting out cold air. Jacob arrived an hour or so early, but called before he arrived to see if it was OK. It certainly was. He diagnosed the problem extremely quickly, went out to his truck, got the part, and fixed the system in minutes. Spectacular job.

Though we tried another company for a brief time we chose AirForce One for our HVAC service. We have used this company for over 15 years now. Their staff has always exhibited integrity, courtesy & excellent service. They have never tried to sell us things we don’t need, arrive on time, and I love the addition of text confirmation with a photo of our technician. I feel like my family’s safety is as important to AirForce One as the health of our HVAC system.

Two men were sent over to diagnose a problem of my furnace and water heater's pilot light not going on. It was determined to be a minor problem and both gentlemen from Air Force One took their time answering questions for me.I would highly recommend this company. The cost of the service even came in less than what I was quoted.

I have had Air Force One service my HVAC for a couple years now, and they have always been reliable, punctual, and the pricing is very fair.
I have tried other companies that service the East Dallas/ Lake Highland area, and they don’t compare.

The technician that serviced my units this time was very professional, quiet,courteous,neatly dressed,and friendly. He did install the two filters in a correct direction which the last technician installed one of the permanent filters up-side-down at which I was very disappointed looking forward for the next tuneup and if you could please send the same technician.

Josh was prompted. He and his partner were very knowledgeable about the system. Explain what was happening. I would recommend him for any of my Plumbing needs. I give him a 5 star rating. Thank you Josh.

Sam did a good job & cleaned up after himeself. I usually see the reports on the maintenance the same day, but have not seen them yet. He did not bring all of the required filters, but said he would drop them off later this week.

Very professional, friendly, clean and trustworthy. Over the years when we’ve had breakdowns with heat or air, their after hours service has been a blessing. We especially like the service agreement to get our unit checked bi-annually for season changes and the additional discount for issues that may crop up.

Javier took such care to explain the whole process in words I could easily understand. He was patient and understanding as I asked questions and weighed my options. Caring for your home is hard work and Javier care made the whole experience pleasant. No more leaks! Job DONE RIGHT!!

This is my first time dealing with this company and I have to say it was better than I had expected. My problem was a seized up blower motor that had seized up and no longer moved any air. He took care of the problem quickly by replacing the old with the new unit and also cleaning the coils and now we have air again!

Two very thoughtful gentleman spent the time to measure and come up with options to put in a new water heater in my small space. The last quote didn’t spend that much time and failed to notice that getting the old one out and new one in wasn’t going to be easy due to the space.

We have been using Air Force One for several years. The service techs are always polite friendly and professional. They make sure not to make a mess and if they do they clean it up before they leave. I have never had a repair or service that I did not need and did not feel pressured or upsold. We are loyal customers as long as the company is willing to have us.

I've had trouble with one of my units for awhile. All the quotes I received from other companies were either $1K or replace my whole unit. Air Force One was able to repair it for 1/4 of that price! I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Chris came out and fixed our A/C unit quickly and took some time to show us some ways to keep our unit lasting longer. Wonderful, Professional Service. Couldn't be happier and cooler :)

Very happy with the service I received. These guys thoroughly tested the unit they identified the problem, fixed the issues and then stuck around to make sure everything was in working order. Was leary after a bad experience with another company but pleasently surprised by these guys. They were also on time, and I appreciated the courtesy call with a 30 min ETA. Will be calling Air Force One from now on. Already recommended to a neighbor.

They sell to the public at reasonable prices and they helped me diagnose and then repair my blower motor on the spot. In only one trip, I've decided to go to AFO AC first whenever possible. Greg was extremely helpful.

This place really impressed me. Right before the holidays, our heater went on the fritz, new what part we needed. When I went they closed slightly early as it was rigfht before Christmas and they had been slow all day which I understand. One of the employees that handles instal and repair work instead of the store front I believe saw we were in a predicament. Opened the store so we could get the part we needed and even told us a common easy fix for our problem that may mean we wouldn't even need the part if it worked and told us we could return it if the quick fix worked instead. I was really impressed and wish that I had remembered his name.

Very poor customer service. They damaged my system and failed to come back and take care of their mistake. I was not able to talk to a manger they kept passing me around.

Rick at Air Force One was Great! He was on time, professional. and knowledgeable. I felt like he did only what was necessary and he made me comfortable with his explanations and suggestions of options for the future ( I have relatively old units). This was welcome as I have recently left a home warranty company that seemed to consistently provide only partial to no coverage on any matter that arose. I am very satisfied with this company and they will certainly get my business in the future.

Air Force one has been fantastic from the install of my new hvac system to the routine maintenance.

We have used AF 1 for over 9 years, they installed my A/C Heat unit and serviced it these last years. I recently had a problem with my furnace in the fact that the blower would run, but the furnace would only come on ever once in awhile. They diagnosed a dirty filter the first time, about 3 months ago, but the problem persisted. We had them in over 3 more times and they could not figure out what the problem was, each time charging a diagnostic fee. They told me to call them when it was not working and I did so. By the time they got to my house, it was working again.The last time we refused to pay the fee because they were not diagnosing anything, just charging us for service calls.. They could not figure out what the problem was so we called in another company.

I Had a complete Rheem air conditioning system installed in late November 2014 by Air Force One. In mid February of this year, when the weather heated up for a few days, we had no air conditioning. I had it checked and it was 4lbs low on refrigerant. Once recharged, it began cooling again. I just got off the phone with them to see about finding out why it is so low and they wanted $89 to show up and another $150-$450 to do the leak check. I asked them if they would cover it under the 1 yr labor warranty included with the system and I was told NO even though it could be a very slow leak that started from day One. It had been just over 14 months, but the system was not being used during the last few months because it has been winter. After paying so much for a new system, I expected that they would be a company with exceptional customer service and stand behind their work even though it had gone 2 months past their warranty (obviously not the case). It stands to reason that the system has been leaking for much longer than 2 months since it had lost nearly 1/2 of it's refrigerant and not being used for the winter. Instead, I was told that it wasn't their fault if it worked for 1 summer and that even if it was within 12 months they wouldn't cover it because I didn't have them out after 6 months to do a tune up. They evidently require that you pay them to come out every 6 months and check your system or they void your warranty! This was not listed on my contract and I should not expect to have problem with a 6 month old system and need them to check it if they did everything right in the first place. I will not use this company for anything else and would not recommend them to anyone!! If you decide to use them, just realize that at 366 days you are on your own, or 181 days if you don't pay them to tune up your brand new system at 6 months!

Woke up and no heat. Called AF1 and as luck would have it they were able to come within 2 hours. The tech, Jordan, was professional and efficient. He cleaned something inside the furnace and solved the problem. I now have both a literal and figurative warm feeling about these guys!

First off, this is not my first issue with OTP / Air Force One but you try to be nice & understanding of peoples issues & work loads so no huge complain t prior out of my own kindness. Absolutely the worst customer service I have dealt with in a couple years. Took 2 days when it was supposed to take 1 day to get parts in from other warehouse in the area. I was told the parts were ready & when I arrived it was the wrong part. The guy there, Brian, called me shortly after I left without the parts to see why I didn't pick them up. I told him they were the wrong part. He also did not tell me the part number was goign to be different due to a different manufacturer (but that is easily resolved). However he wanted to argue about what he had told me previously & he lied, straight up lied. He did not want to discuss the issue as a professional, he wanted to argue & then hung up on me while I was explaining the situation & trying to get clarification. Communication was terrible, information was horrible & customer service was almost the worst I have ever had to deal with. I will not bore you with the details of the lady that answers the phones up there, that is another issue. I have been buying from OTP & Air Force One for many years but something has changed there. My advise is to get your HVAC parts & supplies from somewhere else.

I thought they did a good job at first....then they never rescheduled with me to complete issue discovery so I had another company come out...they confirmed some ducting was never fixed like agreed upon and also said the ducting they aluminum taped was a poor job. Air Force 1 has been helping me repair and servicing my families HVAC systems for over 20 years . We have had nothing but good experiences with any of their techs or store front support.

I brought in my AC blower motor mounted. They tested it and found a bad bearing and a weak capacitor. All prices were reasonable, and they voluntarily mounted the new motor and wired up the new capacitor for FREE!Awesome service, and I saved over $500 by replacing the blower motor without a call to an AC tech.

Had a blown capacitor. It's tough to buy these things if you're not a contractor. It's nice that they sell to the public. I expected to pay a bit extra for the part since it's not wholesale, but if I did, it wasn't much. $13 and I was on my way. Oh and the gentleman who helped me also insisted on testing my existing capacitor before selling me a new one. Kind of a great thing to do. He didn't have to, and if the capacitor was fine, he would have lost a sale. I appreciate the help. I'll be a returning customer....but hopefully not too soon.

Terrible Service, Not Recommended.After years of service and Prompt Payment they decided for no reason to dump me.

I had my furnace go out last week and called company X. They sent out a technician who misdiagnosed the problem and I was told I would have to spend $500-1000 to replace a hard to find control board on an older unit which might not last and then they proceeded to quote me for a new system. It was not a good time to have a furnace go out during holiday season. I decided to call Air Force One for quotes an after explaning my situation to Chester, he suggested that I get a second opinion. Kevin B was awesome! He was professional, courteous, knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. It turns out it was just a sequencer malfunction! A $250 fix versus spending thousands on a new system is a life saver. My experience is always get a second opinion before settling with a new system. I felt that company X took the easy way out and tried selling me something that I didn't need so kudos to Chester and Kevin for saving my day. I'm very satisfied with my experience with Air Force On and would keep their number handy in the future!

I appreciate their work and timeliness; they came out a total of three visits. Dale did a good job of explaining what needed to happen and what he planned to do. Ended up costing more than $500 (blown capacitor, cleaning, Freon, etc), but the prices were competitive according to my HVAC buddy. They were a little late on the first day and gave me a 5% discount because of it. Also worked with Fernando on one visit- he's a veteran, thanks for your service!

There is always someone in the phone ready to take your call no matter where you are. They may not be able to get someone there when you want them (ie 10 o'clock at night) but they will be there when they say they will. And they Satan's behind their fixes.

Greg was AWESOME . I wound up needing a new capacitor and fan motor. Greg walked me through the wiring and prewired the fan and capacitor for me. It took all of 10 minutes to install and get cold air flowing through my house.He saved me at least $500 if i would have called someone out to do the job that took 10 minutes. Thanks again Greg.

I had my AC system installation in 2008 by Air Force One and have had very few problems.

Kevin has been out here twice. He does or use to service Dr.Frank E. Lane. I was working for him at that time. I noticed Kevin was a hard hard worker and very truthful about repairs that needed done. I called Kevin out because we needed a spring and fall checkup. He took picture's and showed me everything he found. He said our compressor does not look like it will last long. He said he would hate to come to do all the maintenance just to come back for to replace a pricy compressor. He said all the repairs that were needed and the compressor I should get it replaced. He helped me get approved for a new unit. Also it was on a promotion. It may be just me which I can't believe My perspective of Kevin is Honest & and dependable.

Great Honest Company, they have service guys open to public to help you understand what the parts are, how they work, and thats a great thing for any consumer to know they are welcome to stop buy ask questions about hvac at no charge. Thats a huge comfort for any consumer working with a service company that you can meet, ask questions and get straight forward answers on options to fix or get to know who is coming to your home to help you if there is home comfort problem in the future. I have been up against Danny as a competitor giving hvac home estimates and he is a guy you dont mind losing to if you care about the industry, service companies are often set up and there are some fly by nights out there, but rarely does anyone show good stories on the news about the several great companies available, and this is one of them and there are others out there too. So do your homework, and you will find this is one of those companies, built by family values and helping the other hvac guys that are good folks get recognized as well. Air Force One quickly diagnosed my a/c conpressor as low on R22 coolant. We discussed either scraping the 13 year old system or putting in more coolant. The tech said “Let’s examine your heater burner.” It was in almost new condition and therefore it was recommended to stick with the old system a few more years. Nice of these guys not to just immediately recommend a complete overhaul at a great expense.The Service Manager later told me that’s what their long-term reputation has been built on.

Technician was efficient and knowledgable. Price was a bit high though so minus one star.

I bought a Rheem system from them at their recommendation in 2009. My experience with them had always been pretty good. Although it was a bit of a struggle to get a diagnosis during the busy summer season, in the end they stepped forward and are replacing my defective evap coil (Rheem warranty repair) It sound like other manufacturers had the same issues with their thin copper tube coils leaking. I was told that Rheem has gone to an all aluminum design which is what the replacement is. No one wants their AC to go out in June when its 95 degrees and I understand that parts fail but I appreciate Air Force One taking care of the problem after it was diagnosed.

If you've done any AC work, you know how invaluable this service is!2. GREG helped me -- GREG IS AWESOME. I had a blown contactor, and he helped me figure it out and replace it. On a holiday weekend, a dead blower effectively means NO AIR, and $200+ service call to fix it. GREG sold me a new contactor for $32, tested it on the bench before he sold it to me, and sent me on my way, knowing my problem would be resolved. GREG IS AWESOME.3. Installed the new contactor, and I was up and running in 30 minutes! Most AC places want to rack up a service charge, so having a place that does over the counter consulting and parts replacement is INVALUABLE to those of us who don't or can't wait for a service call on a long, holiday weekend! THANK YOU for helping people like me!

Dale checked all three systems. He strongly recommended that we install a carbon dioxide sensor upstairs because that system is old. Even though the upstairs is used only by guests, Dale was concerned for their safety and insisted that the detector be ordered and installed. We did and commend Dale for his technical expertise and diligence!
